I made this skyline diagram of NYC for a uni assignment where I have to make an animation. It will run from 1900 to 2003 and shows the financial district. This is the labelled version. A few buildings might be a slightly wrong orientation. What do you think? I'm working on the same view in the 1930s and in 1900.

Here we have New York's financial district as it appeared in 1933. Still impressive 70 years ago. The skyline remained with this configuration until the 1960s.

If only this view could have lasted forever - Financial District in 1973, upon completion of the new World's Tallest, the World Trade Center:

Great diagrams, it shows how Lower Manhattan has evolved, but now in 2003, it looks like it took a downturn without the great Twin Towers.

I'm with you Raffles! Everyday is heart breaking glancing at the Lower Manhattan skyline, the solution is simple but people still just don't understand.

I agree, how about a 2000 or 2001 diagram, but before 9/11? That's when NYC was at it's finest.

Ok, here's NYC financial district at its peak, as it appeared in 2001, but before September 11. I think Millenium Point might have been the newest highrise there at the time.

Hey Damien Koh, I am so impressed by your drawings and am not trying to be smart but for accuracy how can that shadow on WTC 2 be there? With WTC 1 behind and to the left in this diagram. I live in Melbourne Australia an had the pleasure of visiting New York and the Trade Centre in July 2000. and have that building etched into my memory like I guess many others have. Again... I think your drawings are great Regards from OZ

I think maybe WTC 2 should be overlaping WTC 1 which in a diagram I guess wouldn't depict how we expect them to appear........Hope I'm not being too pedantic!
