A lot of Milwaukee architecture has this historic European influence since the city was built by European immingrants and their descendants (notably the Germans and the Polish).

This particular building uses a post-modern style to mimic notable architectural features (namely the gabled roofs and the arches) of the building that used to occupy the site--the Pabst Building (1892-1981). The building had to be demolished as it ultimately became structurally unsound (essentially it was too heavy to support its own weight), despite attempts to trim off the gabled clocktower to lighten the building throughout the years.

When compared to a similar building in Detroit (One Detroit Center) this one looks pretty cheap. Almost tacky. It's look much better at night, IMO.

Nice job of postmodernism. Most cities try to do one of these and it kills the skyline. It fits in pefectly with Milwaukee.

I agree with Eric Wong, not bad! I rated it a 7

I believe the Pabst Building that was there before this was much, much better. The architect for the Faison building could have done a better job at trying to mimick the Pabst and it's odvious that's what they were trying to do.

Interesting design! I like the top - nicely lit up at night time. In the day the glass looks a bit dull though.

The building that was here before 100 East Wisconsin was so much more attractive. It's hard to accept the fact that it was demolished.

But, as for 100 E. Wisconsin, it's one of the more tolerable examples of post-modern architecture.

My favorite in Wisconsin, and definitely my favorite in downtown Milwaukee. This building has so much character versus Milwaukee's tallest (U.S. Bank Tower), which is an ugly, boxy slab.
