I dont think they will do the top - may as well do 1 shot like High St Ctr..

The base is nice, the old facade is also nice, but they dont quite match - however the base definitely looks fresher now.

On a side note, what are they doing to HSBC in that pic? That isn't the start of a reclad is it? If so, YAY!

Yeah, I know that but I was wondering if the base reclad was just the first phase of a planned total reclad... It would be really nice to see the whole building reclad in a similar style.

Time for a revamp.

The recladding of HSBC had started at the back part of the building. The new facade is something of a greyish black colour (might be a different colour when the films are taken off though). You can see it while walking along collyer quay.

Collyer Quay, which has been unchanged for 20 years or more, is suddenly seeing a lot of new projects around it:

HSBC recladding
new hotel at Clifford Pier
OUH redevelopment
Asia Insurance refurbishment
redevelopment of Ocean Building likely to be next

Any updates?

Been there last week, didn't notice any change in the cladding.

I think the changes are occuring at the back...I saw wrapping at the side facing Tung Centre.

as you can see, a side of HSBC will soon be grey. However, i'm hopeful that the glass windows of HSBC will emulate the glass at its base. The first photo shows that the windows (without glass yet) looks white

That's because the recladding has been completed eons ago..

With the new cladding, I wish this building were much taller.
