You know I feel really sorry for the cancelled twin towers cross the street "bin manana towers"which where suppose to be 450+ m. You would imagine the stunning view of 2 super tall set of twin towers on both sides of SZR.......very sad really!

wheres the diamonds? We used to call that feature around the lower part of the spire "diamonds"... when the metal grid is clad in light color (whatever material it will be), each of them might look a bit like a gemstone from far.

Both of these towers will be hotels???

The problem with these modern 1'000'000 Mega pixel cameras is that the pictures are saved with a 1'000'000 Mega pixels resolution, but the real data resolution the camera can handle is like two to four million pixels. The remaining pixels are just blur.

Try to decrees the pictures to the proper resolution next time you upload them so that also people with lousy screens (me), lousy computers and bad connection can see these really beautiful pictures of these really beautiful twin towers :)

Thanks

The tops look much better with the maintained glass pattern to hide the concrete. But this sharp profile wouldn't pass the Feng Shui test. :)

There's obviously no big job left to do up there for the 2nd crane, at least from this side - so it might come down any day, I guess.

These are some pretty nice looking towers. Too bad the tallest block couldn't have some more creativity like the rest of the city. Until Pentominium or Damac Heights gets completed (preferably both) that area may just be the world's biggest eyesore...

November 6th, 2011, 01:51 PM
Although they look almost complete, they are far from done. I had the chance to visit the site with my uni for a study tour two months back and the internals are from done. From what I understand is that emirates and another property developer in the region have been squeezed by the last gfc, and the money trickling towards this project is being very limited. So don't get your hopes up for the hotel to open up on time ;D

I just hope they don't "forget" to clad and leave the diamonds on top, bare as they are now :ohno:

^^ But these fine metal frames are way more than just a setting for "diamond" glass cladding. Light from behind can shine through them, so isn't there a transparent or glittering effect, especially when one's driving by?

Okay, they could clad the octogons or install illumination inside, brighter than at the 23 Marina pinnacle, but it works the subtle way, too. To me, this feature looks okay as it is now. :)

Nice!
but these towers look like Chinese temples, so IMO they should of been built in
China (preferably Shanghai)

JW Marriott Marquis Dubai set to be world's new all-hotel tower
The 1,608-room JW Marriott Marquis Dubai will hold the world's tallest all-hotel tower record when it opens

JW Marriott Marquis Dubai - the 355-metre hotel located along Shaikh Zayed Road near Safa Park and a few blocks away from the world's tallest tower Burj Khalifa - is set to open in the fourth quarter of this year.

Developed and owned by the Emirates Group, the 1,608-room JW Marriott Marquis Dubai will hold the world's tallest all-hotel tower replacing the 72-storey Rose Reyhaan Rotana hotel on the Shaikh Zayed Road.

The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai will open in two phases, with the first section featuring 804 rooms and numerous restaurants and lounges. At a height of 355 metres, the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai is the tallest dedicated hotel building in the world and is just 26 metres shorter than the Empire State Building in New York.

Rupprecht Queitsch, general manager, told Gulf News that the second phase - the second tower will be opened a year after the first one.

Maybe the 355 is roof hight? or the top of the diamond? They might not be including the spire?

CTBUH says 355m. They're about as reliable as you get.

Dubai's biggest hotel to recruit 1200

http://www.arabianbusiness.com/incoming/article394599.ece/ALTERNATES/g3l/JW+Marriott+Marquis+Hotel+Dubai+%287%29.jpg
JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai

Up to 1200 hotel employees will be recruited by Marriott International in Dubai for the opening of the first phase of JW Marriott Marquis Dubai in Q4, 2012.

Hotel manager Bill Keffer told Hotelier Middle East that 1100-1200 staff would be required for phase one, which comprises 804 rooms and all 12 F&B outlets at the property.

The total staff count will rise to around 1300 when another 804 rooms launch in phase two of the hotel opening.

This will bring the total number of keys to 1608, making JW Marriott Marquis the largest hotel in Dubai by number of rooms.

The property, which features two ballrooms, will specifically target business travellers and the MICE market.

General manager Rupprecht Quietsch said: “This hotel is perfectly built and designed for the business traveller and conventions”.

He added: “This hotel has facilities that can match a lot of the facilities in Europe and Asia so it is not a only a key hotel in the Dubai market, but we also compete with all kinds of destinations”.

The diamond-like structure on the spire of the south tower, was lined up with bright lights tonight. That's why the scafolding, and I thought it was because they were cladding it.
