View Full Version : Excuse me, Singapore is not ALL concrete!
eyetoeye December 29th, 2006, 06:37 AM Couldn't find a nature thread (suspect not too many people are really interested in that), so decided to start one on my own with this picture i took at Macritchie after walk - oh - 7km?

eyetoeye December 29th, 2006, 06:42 AM Given the title of this thread, it's quite ironic that there are huge concrete blocks rising out of the water in that photo. Did some Photoshopping and came up with this. Oh yes, Stanley, i took this photo with my dad's camera. Since you asked for examples before.

eyetoeye December 29th, 2006, 12:32 PM Haha. Okay i'll try. By the way this place is pretty near the Japanese WWII shrine. It's on the opposite bank.
spikeshamz January 4th, 2007, 12:44 AM I supposed these used to be water pipes supported by those concrete slabs??

RafflesCity May 14th, 2007, 03:13 PM was that taken at Bukit Timah?
The other day I was observing the vacant land behind Takashimaya and it looked similar to this, with trees grown wild, and its hard to imagine such prime prime land looking like a jungle in the heart of Orchard
_just_started_ May 14th, 2007, 06:26 PM No, it was taken at Upper Pierce Reservoir
SEAfan May 17th, 2007, 07:25 AM I support this thread as well! :okay: I'm sorry that, due to distance, I can't make any pictorial contributions.

RafflesCity June 27th, 2007, 04:07 PM extremely beautiful pics, teh & just-started!
its nice to know that there is a real jungle, and not just a concrete jungle deep in the heart of the island
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v133/RafflesCity/cview2a.jpg
Residents living at the fringe of the catchment area do get to enjoy cooler breeze as the air flows over the forest.
teh June 27th, 2007, 05:35 PM Thanks RafflesCity.
That pic of mine is taken from Mount Faber and not Bukit Timah Nature Reserves btw.
Cliff June 28th, 2007, 05:13 AM This is what I call greenery! Macritchie

eyetoeye August 6th, 2007, 04:01 PM OMG. Just discovered something really cool. You know those concrete blocks rising out of the water? Turns out they didn't used to support old pipes. They were supports for a really long bridge to the WWII shinto shrine on the other bank!
@Cliff: Treetops trail! Went there once. There was bird crap all over the floor. So much fun.

eyetoeye September 9th, 2007, 05:49 AM Where did you find out from?
I just did a search on google on the shinto shrine and they mentioned how the bridge was blown up and only the cement pillars were left. I know for a fact that the shrine was on the opposite bank. I put two and two together an wala!
