They are the pillars for DUBAI METRO, which is a LRT system, travelling underground on the old part of the city and on elevated tracks on the new parts, where space is also available.

Can i recommend you one thing, find one locaton with an equally as good angle to take photos, and which is easely repeatable. And from there take a photo regularly maybe two or one times a week. And after some time we would have some really good material for comparisson. And a nice animation could be made of it.

Also think about how much such a collection would be worth in the future. Especially if youd do that from 2-3 spots. :banana:

I didnt mean that you had to focus on one single building, but rather an area of interest, like the DIFC for example.

The ball will contain water. The water will get really hot because of the sun and the hot water will be used for people who want to take a shower :nuts:

Yes, I prefered much more the design with the spire on top of the ball, I like symetrical buildings and this ruins it a bit, besides, the tower would have looked a lot nicer with the spire on top.

Ball could still sue Spire because Spire has a more dominant and higher position :)

But the spire starts lower than the ball so they are still evenlly balanced in that sense :P Theres the same amount ofspire above the ball than below, the spire is simply larger along its length!

I cant believe how good the top came out, by far one of my favourites in Dubai

I really wanna see the interior of this tower, because the exterior doesn't impress me at all. It looks so 90's and outdated... But I'm sure the interior will be great!

I think that in 2 more week this tower will be complete.

nopes. Maybe tthe exterior, but the interior has a LONG way to go. not to mention the pool area, the greenery and grounds, cleaning, electrical testing and installation, furniture installation, piping, and general checks. id say some more months yet

they want to open end of this year which is maybe possible.
furnishing(transportation, installation , etc..) takes long time.

:lol: lol! they wanted to open last summer!! :lol: i think there sooo delayed cus of the foundations. i remember them piling and load testing for about 6 months! guess the ground wasnt what they expected. it is a light tower comparitevly tho, with steel used instead

Impressive facade !!!! It uses such a medallion that reminds me those of Taipei 101...

i dont like the spire at all, there is no need for it, it looks totally out of place, and from what i can tell it isnt used in any sort of communications way so its just silly. if they wanted to make it taller they should have kept to the symetrical design and put it ontop in the middle. not off to the side. =)

great pics, the cladding is almost complete!

my favourite part of this building has always been the way the top sections intersect with each other.

It is very nice and I am thoroughly impressed with this building. My only complainte is that the spire should have been built on top of the ball.

Huh? That bit of 'wire' you circled is it - it's not connected to the spire. It's just a piece of loose wire moving due to wind!

Great pictures, Altin. The crown turned out really nice, I think, now that the the cladding is all finished.

^^ It seams so. There used to be some missing panels on the other (left) side of the tower but I don't remember if those were put in place or not.

Dubai is so amazing, how it suddenly burst onto the scene with all its new developments. I'd love to go there just to see all the excitement. (But doesn't it cost a lot to live there?)

In case you haven't noticed, the "ball" opens up, so the antenna wouldn't be suited to be there.

Are you seeing things that we others aren't?

If you are reffering to the parts of those two towers that are in black, that is waterproofing layer applied over the concrete before the cladding panels (either glass or aluminium) are to be installed.

The hotel looks awsome, few details more and the hotel is finish.

I thought it looked ugly in the render but this building turned out very nicely. I love this building.

Seems like somebody here just doesn't care to "read" the reply carefully.

I cannot stress enough and to many times how hideous that spire of Chelsea Tower is, a real sore to the eye. Deep down i hope they will remove it one day :(.

i agree an antennae in the centre would give it a more poised look,that side antennae makes look like a remote controlled car err...a building :D

The motorway is not really new, but the widening from 4 to 7 is something like a year old.
