I tried to answer a thread in another section of the forum asking about the unique features of your city. I found so many unique things in LA that the other forumers especially from Germany got really pissed at me so that I am moving it here. The photos are not mine, I took them from the web, but please feel free to add.

This is a picture of Watts towers, one of the greatest feats of folk art in the US, built by Simon Rodia;it is the work of one man and unique to Los Angeles.

Wow! I don't know where you're digging up all these unique features of LA, but its freakin' awesome, SVS!!! Dude, you rock!:banana: :banana: :banana:

I never knew LA had a Coca Cola bottling plant in the shape of a battleship and all those beautiful Victorian homes in Angelino Heights. Wow! Those colorful pics of Chinatown and the Vincent Thomas Bridge with its new blue lights are fantastic. And I never knew there was a Fighting Dinos Natural History Museum or there ever was a Pan Pacific Rec Center and Holocaust Memorial with its beautifully detailed, streamline-moderne architecture... Just beautiful!!! Shame on me, all these years living in the Southland and I didn't even know these places existed here. Goes to show I still have a lot of LA to explore...:)

To Ferney and Future, thanks for the kind words. I have lived in LA for almost forty years now and have worked all over the county from Watts to the Valley to the OC to Beverly Hills. I have always believed there more variety of things to do and see in LA than just about anywhere else in the country, but that most people who live here tend to stick close to their neighborhoods and never really explore the whole place. I got the photos off the web, but I have actually been to most of the places that I posted. Some of the photos really don't do the places justice but I posted the best I could find that seemed to be in the public domain. I have a few more to go, so come back and visit in a few days or so if your interested. Also feel free to post anything I may have left out.
