every city must have a TV tower, but only the important ones get the tall ones... I think that's what's going on.
as happy as I am for Zhenzhou, I truly believe that this is a spectacular case of over doing it. This tower is too busy visually to be appealing in the long run. I have a feeling that this is one of those things that people will think is "cool" at the first glance, and then get more and more annoyed by it as time goes by.
but that's just my opinion.
counstruction starts Dec of this year.
ps. there won't be an overpopulation of radio-emmitters with the counstruction of TV towers. because cities that do not have a dedicated TV tower just ends up mounting them on top of tall buildings. So the radio emission stays the same, but buildings just won't have eye-soreing chunck of steel on their roofs.

The US seems to be going the internet/cable/satellite route for broadcasting systems, BUT China is building these CN Tower-like structures which seem to be an outdated form of transmitting. But then again, HD signals do come in better via over the air transmission versus cable. Have the Chinese advanced antenna broadcasting in some crazy new way? What is the reason for the sudden construction of these towers? Can they broadcast multiple HD signals from one of these towers and if so, how many? I think they are great towers, I'm just curious what the thinking is behind them.
UD2
May 24th, 2007, 08:49 AM
the US/Canada still send/recieve their signals using towers, which then is transfered to households using cable/sat.
radio wave is always transmitted by air.
Internet is cable based at the local level only. They don't drag cables across countries.
And USA/Canada have planty of there towers around, they just don't look as good.

That top part of the tower that looks like space-rocket boosters turned upside-down, are actually real space-rocket boosters; so, at the end, when the tower is finished, the final part would be to fire-up the rocket-boosters, as they are... and the force of the upward thrust will push the tower downward and deeper into the ground: That's a great way to stabilize the tower, isn't it!?

you guys all missed the most important point of this tower design, I remember I have read this before. It is said this after this tower is completed, when you look at it from the sky, it will appear to be a gorgeous blooming blossom!!! Just think about the shape of the tower and image it, coz I don't have any pic atm. Look at the top, it has a flat roof with the flower shape, and the lower part of the tower are actually leaves! Yes, it is going to be a flower seen from the sky!!!!!

I don't usually pay much attention on tall buildings, especially TV towers. I try not to be biased in the judgment, because I come from ZZ city, however, I just can't stop myself liking this one. I really like it. I don't give it any credit on being futuristic. It looks truly muscular with the strong steel supporting structure and also feminist in the design since it secretly appears to be a blooming flower!!! This is really a design beyond my imagination!!!

To those who didn't like the appearance of the latest photos take a look at some of the shots that show the entire structure on earlier posts and the original render to get a better idea of how this really looks. I think it's quite a striking piece of architecture and it's quite futuristic and original. These latest photos show some of the details closer up to show the progress that's been made on various parts of the tower which I really appreciate because I was disappointed at how little attention it received during the course of it's construction. As you can probably tell I really like it.

This tower is unique and original, it is more than a simple com tower. Thanks for update. I saw some forum's haters are so blind they never apreciate originality and others things over conformism.

It's is the goddess Nu Wa,a nearly female figure in Chinese mythology. According to one legend it was she who was the creator of mankind.
The earth was a beautiful place with blossoming trees and flowers, and full of animals, birds, fish and all living creatures. But as she wandered about it Nu Wa felt very lonely. She bent down and took up a handful of earth, mixed it with water and molded a figure in her likeness. As she kneaded it the figure came alive -the first human being. Nu Wa was so pleased with her creation that she went on making more figures both men and women.
