SRB January 4th, 2007, 11:57 PM are you totaly sure that construction is going to start in 2007 ?!

Joba January 5th, 2007, 06:45 PM Is the tower going to be named after the Belgian construction group? :hm:
Erebus555 January 5th, 2007, 10:24 PM 333 metres? Interesting. Serbia should be thrown out of Europe so London Bridge Tower becomes the tallest in Europe :). Only kidding.
It's a great tower though it looks a touch chunky.
Pavlo January 6th, 2007, 12:46 AM If barring Russia then, sorry to burst your bubble, Kyiv will have highest skyscraper. This one should be over 400 meters, 86 floors or 101, yet to be decided:

Projecting works will begin June 2007, construction should start early 2008.
Belgrade city January 6th, 2007, 12:49 AM yes , but besix project is older than project of Kyiv
Pavlo January 6th, 2007, 01:02 AM yes , but besix project is older than project of Kyiv
Alright, I guess that makes a big difference :D
No1 January 8th, 2007, 02:12 AM Is the tower going to be named after the Belgian construction group? :hm:
No,project name is A tower.
If barring Russia then, sorry to burst your bubble, Kyiv will have highest skyscraper. This one should be over 400 meters, 86 floors or 101, yet to be decided:
Pavlo, when project start A tower be highest skycraper in Europe(if not include Russia). If Kyiev start with highest project OK,now A tower is 2nd.
Myster E January 8th, 2007, 12:37 PM It seems like a very nice highrise, I've never heard of it till now, excluding Russia this should have the tallest title. It does look a little fat but the height makes up for it, plus from the first picture it looks lonely
HenkMan January 12th, 2007, 02:15 AM B/w if this gets build its gonna make beograd look like crap....everything is flat and then a huge tower out of nowhere...sux...as for the tower itself its great, I like the design of it..only thing its missing is a few 250m+ neighbors.
Not really sure. The construction currently gravities around the new part of the city, across the Sava river, so it certainly won't damage the old city center. Currently USCE is there without any very high neighbours nearby, and the New Belgrade skyline doesn't look weird at all. Usce Complex, which includes an Usce twin, is U\C right now, MPC (company which is building Usce Complex) announced they will build three residental towers nearby, Delta(the biggest company in Serbia) will construct a 40-storey skyscraper in Block 20, and there are some more projects on the desk right now and there will d be more in the future. A skyline will be developed nearby, but 333m will still be out of proportion. However I would like to have one dominant skyscraper in the skyline, so my dream solution would probably be, lets say, ~250 meters
But my prime concern is that if it gets built it will eat up too much office space demand, which could have been taken by several other smaller towers
p. s. could you please tone down "which is the highest" debates... you know that every record is going to be surprassed sooner or later, and considering how construction is going now, it's very likely going to be "sooner"
LordMarshall January 12th, 2007, 02:19 AM ^^ thats what i was thinking wouldn't this tower kill off competition since it will have a great deal office space in one building. whats the present need in Belgrade?
MagyarDuna January 12th, 2007, 10:26 AM Nice tower for Serbia, when it is built I may go to the top of the tower to see if I can see my Hungary from there. Haha jokes. Puno Lepo Toren :)
Radukin January 12th, 2007, 12:45 PM Maybe :)
Cheers
Belgrade city January 12th, 2007, 12:46 PM hehe ^^
AltinD January 12th, 2007, 08:20 PM I asked someone in another forum (he's actually a member here as well) who has contacts in BESIX, and here's what he said, obviously after asjking his contact there:
Apparently, although approved it is due for final design approval in April at the earliest as they're currently working on design projects in the same city codenamed "Block 20 Delta" and "Block 20 Sava City" diagrams and final quantity surveys for the 200m long Ada Bridge.

Radukin January 13th, 2007, 01:59 PM Ok, i was confused in that second when i red about besix approvement!
But i want to know how much is true in that information!
AltinD can you answer that question?
AltinD January 14th, 2007, 12:17 AM ^^ http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=119337&page=5 ... go down to post 111.
leo82 June 29th, 2007, 04:30 AM la verdad de ve muy simple
cs88 June 29th, 2007, 09:52 AM The tower looks great, but the rendering doesn't do it any justice...
Either way, congrats for Serbia  .
Mr. Met January 13th, 2008, 08:53 PM any better renderings?
skyperu34 May 21st, 2009, 05:46 AM Too bad renders, tower looks nice.
Filipdr October 15th, 2010, 07:20 PM That tower is gonna rock! :)
KillerZavatar October 16th, 2010, 01:39 AM resurrecting a thread that wasnt very active in a long run -.-
boschb October 16th, 2010, 11:46 PM very very unexpected city, very much a surprise to me if this gets built
Singidunum October 16th, 2010, 11:48 PM Not getting built. It never got a permit as the city authorities said it would eat all the other projects and that they want a few lower towers instead. Obviously nothing was built instead...
droneriot October 17th, 2010, 07:28 AM Should be changed to "Cancelled" and moved to the DN Archives, then?

Filipdr September 18th, 2011, 09:55 PM Not getting built. It never got a permit as the city authorities said it would eat all the other projects and that they want a few lower towers instead. Obviously nothing was built instead...
If that is true (although I have never heard any official statement) then that's the biggest mistake city authorities have ever made!! :mad2:
cirilo December 26th, 2011, 08:29 PM I don't know if this project is always of current events, but i saw on the skyscrapers website that it was rejected by the Belgrade city government in January 2007.

Kimiwind1184 December 27th, 2011, 09:49 AM Nice tower if they build it though. Certainly it will be the tallest for centuries in former Yogoslavia.
Lion007 December 28th, 2011, 10:41 PM Very nice tower.:banana::cheers:
Bez_imena December 30th, 2011, 03:01 AM Besis will not build.
This is fresh....
If the City issues a permit, Holland's Vital Estates will build a rotating 80-floor skyscraper (480m) in New Belgrade. Presentation of this unique project in Europe was held yesterday at the Business Club of the borough of New Belgrade. On that occasion, an agreement on cooperation was signed between the borough of New Belgrade and the company Vital Estates.
According to the project, each floor in the future building would span about 1,200 square meters, and it would utilize wind and solar energy to rotate around its axis. The plan is that each floor in this building rotates around the central pillar. In that way, the building's look and shape would be constantly changing. Such facility would be suitable for a hotel, office or residential space.
According to the words of Zoran Lukic, representative of the company Vital Estates, a rotating tower exists nowhere in Europe and, if built, this unique and exceptional building will become a new symbol of Serbia and Belgrade.
- In case the City of Belgrade and the borough of New Belgrade express interest in the construction of such building, which would be completely financed by Vital Estates, the world-acknowledged architect David Fisher, creator of the rotating tower, will come to Belgrade to present the model of construction and the way in which this tower functions in details - said Lukic.
By the way, the cutting-edge construction concrete that Vital Estates plans to build in the tower in the borough of New Belgrade is six times lighter than standard concrete that is now in use in the construction of buildings. This material allows for full energy independence from the central city heating system because the space built of this material is cooled and heated in an innovative way, enabling up to 70% reduced energy consumption. Vital Estates, headquartered in Amsterdam, is an integral part of the Swiss investment fund Vital Source SA, Paradiso, and it is renowned worldwide in the field of innovative construction.

Singidunum December 30th, 2011, 03:05 AM
Yeah right, the 'architect' of that thing was discovered to be a crook in UAE so he is now looking for a new place for the con.
And why post it in this thread when this is completely unrelated? Besix is a well known firm that had built Burj Khalifa, they were chased away by Belgrade authorities, while these crooks are invited over. Similis simili gaudet.
Dancing Banana December 30th, 2011, 03:50 AM lol the rotating towers again lol

Lion007 December 31st, 2011, 01:08 PM Are you sure that they will build a rotating tower?
Thanial December 31st, 2011, 02:11 PM ^^ I'd give this 'new design' about as big a chance as the building in Sudan
Eric Offereins December 31st, 2011, 03:42 PM I like the idea of the rotating tower, but if 300 is already too much here, i don't see this happen either.
