The number of golf facilities on the Algarve is set to double in the medium term with plans under way for nine new golf courses at Loulé, Silves, Castro Marim, Vila Real de Santo António, Portimão, Olhão and Lagos among others. The 31 existing Algarve golf courses currently account for 50% of Portugal's golfing offer. These courses represent 0.5% of world market share and 5% of the European golf market selling an average 3300 golf rounds per course per month
