An 18F 300m tower? :hahaha:

Seriously though how the hell does this have 18 floors? :weird:

This is the same tower from that article talking about ugly designs being rejected. They showed a rejected one and an approved one, this was the approved one

dubaiflo
January 9th, 2007, 09:59 PM
i am counting at least 60F. sure this is wrong, but as said in the gossip thread it is rather surprising, a 17F only building for a normal plot on SZR.

so i am sure this one will be 300+ and 60F + actually.

but i guess no press releases etc for some time. if we are lucky we will hear of it in some tender etc.

i don't like the design btw. at least not from this..

Skyscraper to be built in honour of Shaikh Zayed

http://www.gulfnews.com/images/07/01/24/24_bz_hekma_tower_4.jpg
Al Hekma Tower, which means The Wisdom Tower, will be sited near the first Interchange on Shaikh Zayed Road.

Dubai: Abu Dhabi-based developer Pearl Properties will develop a 61-storey tower to honour the memory of Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the late President of the UAE, a statement said.

Al Hekma Tower, which means The Wisdom Tower, will be sited near the first Interchange on Shaikh Zayed Road, and will display an image of the late ruler which will crown the top of the building at a height of 50 metres.

When completed in 2008, this will be the largest portrait of a single individual to be seen on any tower in the Middle East.

Pearl Properties is part of a group company owned by Shaikh Eisa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, son of Shaikh Zayed.

Saif Al Suwaidi, manager of Shaikh Issa's private office, said: "The vision behind this unique project is to honour Shaikh Zayed, a widely respected Arab and world statesman, for a lifetime of positive contributions, wisdom and determined efforts, the combination of which has played a vital role in the UAE's formation and economic success.

"Our late Highness's sphere of influence extended far beyond the Emirates. As a direct result of his drive and determination, the region has also developed into a global business, leisure and economic hub of note.

"The name of the building was personally chosen by Shaikh Issa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan as Wisdom Tower in recognition of the principal characteristic of our late President and Ruler's intelligence and good judgment, something that was the key to unlocking many of his greatest ambitions for the Arab world."

Pearl properties is expected to announce a number of other major projects that will span all seven emirates.

Al Hekma Tower is the second project under construction by Pearl Properties, which was established in 2005. Pearl's first major development project, launched last November, is the Dh10 billion Palisades.

malec

Of course it'll be in your way but it looks sufficiently far away for it not to be a problem. However all that land from this tower to millenium tower consists of plots for a whole row of towers which would block your view a lot but I wouldn't worry about that. Things will probably not get built there for god knows how long.

My friend, the tower is above ground already ... and yeah, while this one will not block much views, the other ones to be build there will (it will take many more years and another boom for that to happen though)

Anyways, in the end in Dubai nobody will have a view because of the many buildings that will be built in future booms.

Will this be a supertall?

well, that's the question...
with 62fl and such a huge roof feature, why not?

(but it doesn't really look supertall in the renders IMO)

I always wondered whether this tower is a supertall or not but it seems like it is not. The render has 62 floors and I am assuming a floor height of 3 metres so we have only 186 metres plus the spire structure which seems to be about the height of ~12 floors which means 36 additional metres. The total height should be around 222 metres only. But the model looks higher.

Blizzy
July 19th, 2010, 02:06 PM
220m for a 62 floor tower with a roof feature? That would be extremely low for Dubai standards. I'm sure that the floor height will be more than 3m. This being a commercial tower anything less than 3.7 would be surprising. Ubora is what - 4.3m/floor? Plus there is the lobby and probably some mechanical floors.

SA BOY

always work on 4m floor to floor (300 mm for slab, 800mm for MEP and services , 200mm for raised acess floor) leaving 2.7m clear

Al Futtaim Engineering has won three contracts worth US $22.59 million (AED83 million) to supply Hitachi and LM lifts to real estate projects in the UAE.

The company will install 79 elevators and 12 escalators in the Nation Towers and the Investment Council Headquarters in Abu Dhabi and Al Hikma Tower project in Dubai.

“We are delighted to be partners in some of the biggest and prestigious real estate projects in the country. The three projects further endorse Al Futtaim Engineering’s core competencies as one of leading vertical transportation solution provider in the UAE,” said Al Futtaim Engineering managing director Dawood Ozair.

The 64-floor Nation Towers project will be supplied with 45 Hitachi elevator units and eight escalators. This mixed-use project includes a 350-room 5-star hotel, serviced apartments, loft apartments, office space and retail areas.

The project, which was awarded by Arabtec and National Projects & Construction (NPC), is expected to be completed by the end of next year.

Meanwhile, Al Futtaim Carillion awarded the Investment Council HQ contract to the engineering company in April. The work, which includes installing 22 Hitachi elevators and four escalators, is set to be finished by mid 2011.

And, by October next year, the company will supply 12 high-speed elevators to the 61-storey Al Hikma Tower. The contract, which was awarded by China State Construction, was won in April this year.

The contract awards are the latest in a string of successes since Al Futtaim's Elevator Division was established in 1973, anticipating the trend for high-rise construction in the UAE. “We are at the high end of the market, involved with complex and demanding projects. Mostly elevators are custom-made for particular projects. We assist from the design and traffic-analysis stage, determining how many elevators are needed, and what capacity and speeds,” explains Elevators Division GM Syed Shamsul Haq.
