just moved here from Jersey. Is there anything fun to do? I'm 21 and single.
I love the growing skyline of Tampa. I checked out the Yebor area earlier today. Seems different.

Channelside is probably what most people will tell you But I love just riding a bike down Bayside Blvd. Or if you want to, head to the Gaspirilla Day Rarade that is this weekend or the next, I believe the 27th actually. Head over to Clearwater too, you'll love it. Also, Jasonhouse here is trying to get a forum meet with all the Tampa forumers. So it will be a great way to meet some other skyscraper lovers.
Welcome to Tampa

Ybor is probably the most interesting, eclectic place in town after hours. Channelside is probably a bit more commercial and not nearly as interesting, but worth a visit since they are connected through the rail system.
You've got to go to Gasparilla at the end of the month. It's THE event of the year here, rivaling Mardi Gras.

The festivities last all month, into February. You should also check out the Ybor Night Parade, which is much wilder and just as fun despite the smaller scale. The day parade is HUGE.... about half a million attend.

^Map of the Day parade route. This site has lots of information about it.
The Day parade consists of a sea invasion, and then a land invasion. The ship comes up the bay into downtown, and being near the Convention Center will give you an awesome view of the events. The channel will be packed with boats and the streets very crowded, but you should be able to find a spot to watch. The invaders then travel down to Bayshore Blvd, and advance towards DT on their floats. I would stay in DT and enjoy the numerous parties. Bars are open indoors and in the streets. You can have alcohol open on the street. The parade takes about three hours to get into the city. At that point, find a spot on the route and watch. There are usually around a hundred packed floats (the "Krewes"). I'm not sure, but it usually lasts over an hour and a half, sometimes longer. It's very similar in spirit to Mardi Gras, with bead throwing and the like. Expect lots of screaming, cannon fire, and good fun if you plan on attending. It's a GREAT time.
Maybe someone can find info on the Night Parade? I know it's on the second weekend of Feb, but nothing else. Last year, I was with a Krewe in the parade and we started around the Transportation Hub and went through the 7th Avenue Gate, finishing at the end of the strip past Columbia.
