Nyakz! pwede pala iyon...?

Wala man lang proper planning.

http://batangascityleaks.blogspot.com/2012/03/robinsons-place-danger-zone.html

Haha.

Scoop: It’s Vilma vs. Mandanas in 2013

In an exclusive report posted in the Filipino Connection, a Philippine Newspaper in Batangas, has confirmed that Cong. Hermilando “Dodo” Mandanas is considering running for Governor against Gov. Vilma Santos. Here’s the scoop…

Talagang ramdam m0. . Parang ganito yan nung c marc leviste ang lumaban sa vice gov .kalaban c chrstopher de leon, hndi nanalo c de leon. Mukhang mhgpt ang laban ngaun for sure. .dikit yan.

Eto going to Caysasay Shrine. Madalas ako dumaan dito
Hagdan-hagdan is actually 125 granite steps from the Caysasay Church beside the Pansipit river which leads up to the center of town. Originally, the steps were made of adobe stone, but these were later replaced with granite or batong song-song in the year 1850 by Fr. Celestino Mayordomo. Itis now dedicated to the memory ofSan Lorenzo Ruiz.

When each container ship arrives in the port, the computers take over, through the use of RFID, the computer knows where each and every container will go, thus the computer will pick up the container, place it on an automated rail system which will place the container at the correctloading dock at each factory, then pick up the finished loaded container at the end of the factory, filled with new packaged finished goods, and place the container back on the ship bound for the world.
IT ALL STARTS AT THE CORE
The CORE is the center of the Factory Campus.
All employees enter and exitthe campus at the Core thus allowing for security, and inter working of all levels of staff and management.
The CORE includes:
1. Monorail Station, bringing workers to and from the CORE
2. Shopping Mall
3. Movie Theaters
4. Bowling Alley
5. 10 Hectare Park
6. 1 High-rise Hotel and Condo
7. 1 High Rise Class A Office Building

Batangas province clinched 95 % rating in the Provincial Category in the State of Performance Evaluation for 2012 administered by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)...:banana::banana:

The DILG ranking has been assessed using the Local Government Performance Management System (LGPMS) indicator that looks into a holistic perspective of governance from administration and fundamentals of good governance, to social, economic and environmental services.

Batangas has been recognized by the DILG through its Seal of Good Housekeeping award...here's the full report...

Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Batangas Nakukuha ng 95% Total Rating sa Local Governance Performance Management System
Agosto 1, 2012

- Ellen Asebo Llentada Source (http://vilmasantos-recto.com/)

(Marie v. Lualhati-PIO Batangas/CPG/MPDC,PIA-Batangas)

Does anyone know kung saan sa Batangas ang planta ng AG & P? Good news eto to Batanguenos like me. :)

American entrepreneur bets big on PH

American businessman Joseph Sigelman always seems to be at the right place at the right time.

After dabbling in investment banking, this Ivy Leaguer from New York built a successful business process outsourcing (BPO) enterprise in India that expanded to 42 countries.

After that, he moved on to Latin America and co-founded a thriving engineering-construction business that rode on the region’s infrastructure boom.

So perhaps it’s no coincidence that Sigelman is now putting his chips into the Philippines—and into a business where his previous experience in growing cross-border BPO and construction businesses comes in handy.

AG&P is a 112-year-old company with a rich legacy, having built the Rizal Monument, the country’s first steel bridge and Manila’s water and sewerage system. But has been in hibernation since the Asian crisis. It was originally an American company that was acquired by industrialist Roberto Villanueva Sr. in the 1970s when Pres. Marcos instituted parity laws. DMCI took over in 1997 then sold to Sigelman.

It was the entrepreneur in him who saw a gem in AG&P, whose fabrication complex in Batangas is by far the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia.

Specialization

AG&P’s specialization has evolved to what is called modularization, or building large pieces of infrastructure such as power plants or refineries piece by piece (or module), much like how one builds using Lego blocks.

The difference is that AG&P produces giant blocks out of its plant in Batangas and ships these to clients all over the world.

In late 2010, he organized a group that acquired Atlantic Gulf and Pacific Co. of Manila Inc. (AG&P) from the Consunji group’s DMCI Holdings.

The process starts with modular engineering—taking the details of design and making it more “constructible.” Based on such engineering design, AG&P starts fabricating.

“AG&P takes care of the engineering, fabrication, assembly, the load-out, the heavy lift, transportation, the heavy lift on the other side and we bring our people to actually set these things up, to do the installation, the operation and maintenance. It’s the entire life cycle of the project,” he says.

It’s a sweet spot to be in this kind of business at this point in time, Sigelman says.

“In the next five years there will be a surge in infrastructure projects in this country and we want to be a leader in that,” Sigelman says, adding that AG&P could team up with the likes of its former owner DMCI in such projects. Because AG&P does not build foundations or civil works, he says it’s not competing with local construction giants like DMCI.

Outside the Philippines, he adds that global demand for infrastructure is very high.

Integrated systems

At present, AG&P can produce 60,000 metric tons of processed steel a year which should go up to 100,000 MT a year in the next few months, Sigelman says.

Apart from increasing the yard’s footprint in Batangas, he expanded the management team, built systems and improved cost structure.

Sigelman estimates that AG&P will invest $200 million to $250 million over the next 12 to 18 months into the business. By end of this year, it expects to employ 3,500 people in its yard which by the middle of next year, grow to several thousands, many of whom will be women.

“We’re focused on diversity. I’d like to have 50 percent of our welders to be female,” Sigelman says, noting it’s not true that welding is an occupation for men. “You don’t have to lift anything. It’s doing it with a very steady hand,” he says. AG&P’s best welder in a recent project for British Petroleum, he says, is a lady who was given a citation by BP itself.

“We’re giving people in Batangas an opportunity to work in a safe environment where they have a long term career. It’s a lot better option than going to work in Saudi Arabia,” he says, adding this in turn will also help earn foreign exchange for the country even without having to export workers.

Read full (http://www.southernluzoninquirer.com/)

Asian Terminals Welcomes Toyota's High-End Cars To Batangas Port

Publicly-listed port operator Asian Terminals Inc. welcomed Toyota Motors Philippines Corp.
(TMPC) to the shores of its International Port of Batangas which now serves as the leading car manufacturer's home port for completelybuilt-units (CBUs).

ATI's modern Batangas Port recently took delivery of more than 200 CBUs, including Toyota's new hybrid cars which are soon to hit the roads across the Philippines. The vehicles were delivered on board Toyofuji Shipping's MV Tocho on its maiden voyage to the port. TMPC is a testament to ATI’s growing list of high-valued clients benefiting from the competitive ports and logistics services at the Batangas Port, the emerging gateway port of southern Luzon. Aside from being a fully secured facility, Batangas Port is highly accessible to dealers and customers in the fast growing region of Calabarzon as it is connected directly to the port flyover and major highways.

ATI Batangas facilitated the delivery of close to 43,000 CBUs in 2011, making up a majority of the Philippine market.
Car handling services at the Batangas Port was further boosted in May this year with the opening of a world-class vehicle pre-delivery inspection facility inside ATI’s Batangas Container Terminal. The facility is managed by industry leader Ceva Logistics Philippines Inc.

ATI operates Manila South Harbor, the Port of Batangas, Batangas Container Terminal, Inland Clearance Depot Laguna and the Sta.

Mesa Container Yard in Manila. It is also a strategic partner at the South Cotabato Integrated Port in General Santos City.

Electricity Demand Still Growing in Batangas

The demand for electricity continues to grow in Batangas as surging economic growth in the province..

To accommodate this, National Grid Corporation of the Philippines is set to expand transmission lines in the province..Here’s the report…

NGCP sets upgrade of Southern Luzon facilities to accommodate demand growth
By: Euan Paulo C. Añunuevo, InterAksyon.com
August 20, 2012

MANILA - The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines is set to upgrade its transmission facilities in Southern Luzon to accommodate demand growth from industries located in the region.

The company said it has earmarked P515 million to increase the capacity of its substations in Batangas and Laguna.

"The capacity expansion is required to maintain the provision of N-1 contingency as the majority of the connected customers in the involved substations are expected to grow [in] the next five years," NGCP said.

N-1 is a term for system redundancy that allows the grid to operate in case a major power facility trips.

NGCP plans to install two units of 300-megavolt ampere transformers, replacing the existing 100-megavolt ampere transformers in its Batangas substation.

NGCP will also install one 100-megavolt ampere transformer unit at the company's Bay substation in Laguna.

The upgrades will allow the company to service the growing requirements of its customers that are connected to the substations.

Data from NGCP’s planning and engineering group indicates that the growth rates of some of its big customers are as follows:

Atlantic Gulf & Pacific Co. (3.91 percent),

Bobcock- Hitachi (3.09 percent),

San Miguel Pure Foods, Inc. (3.78 percent),

Puyat Steel Corp. (2.33 percent),

Keppel Philippine Shipyard (2.49 percent),

Ibaan Electric & Engineering Corp. (3.53 percent).

Batelec 2 (2.61 percent),

Lima Land (3.41 percent),

Philtown (3.51 percent)

Republic Cement (3.26 percent), and

Coco Chemical Industries (2.48 percent).

Nestlé Philippines opens new coffee center in Batangas city
Published on 21 August 2012

Coffee farmers in Luzon can now gain better access to the latest coffee farming techniques and robusta seedlings as Nestlé Philippines Inc. (NPI) recently launched its newly completed Nestlé Lipa Integrated Commercial Center (Nestlé LICC) in Lipa, Batangas City.

The Nestlé LICC is only the second of its kind the Philippines, the first being the Nestlé Experimental and Demonstration Farm (NEDF) in Tagum City, Davao del Norte. Similar to the NEDF in Tagum, the five-hectare, P25-million facility in Lipa City will serve as a one-stop shop for coffee farmers. It will house a Robusta seedlings production nursery, a local research and development center for new coffee selections, training and techno-demo center, a buying station and a composting facility for organic fertilizer.

“We intend to replicate the success of our first Nestlé Experimental and Demonstration Farm in Tagum, Davao, which has helped farmers mostly within the Mindanao region to set-up and to sustain their coffee farms,” said Arthur Baria, Agriculture Head of NPI.

“The NEDF in Batangas has the capacity to produce 500,000 seedlings over the next year but can accommodate as much as one million seedlings over time. It is also key to further promoting our Nestlé Better Farming Practices which adhere to the principles of the Sustainable Agricultural Initiative and the 4C [Common Code for the Coffee Community],” he added.

Regular training programs that will be provided by the Nestlé LICC include Coffee Technology Training for new farmers, Coffee Specialist Training for large-scale coffee plantation personnel and Department of Agriculture technicians, and on-the-job training that focuses on the end-to-end technology of coffee growing.Read Full (http://www.manilatimes.net/index.php/business/top-business-news/29373-nestle-philippines-opens-new-coffee-center-in-batangas-city)

After nearly two years without major Infrastructures from Pnoy Administration… Batangas’ critical Infrastructures Finally Getting the Attention it deserves ...Kudos to Sen. Recto and Gov. Vi:applause::applause::applause:

126 Million at 50 Million Infra Projects Mula sa National Government, Inaprubahan na
July 31, 2012

- Ellen Asebo Llentada

Batangueños farewell to DILG Sec. Jesse Robredo

Batangueños from Batangas city share their memories of a great man who served the Filipino people with distinction.

Batangas city officials, employees and friends of DILG Secretary in the City flocked to the People's Quadrangle, beside City Hall for a vigil mass held in honor of the late official, offering nothing but good words for him while mourning his death.

I - INFRASTRUCTURE and INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
H - HEALTH
E – EDUCATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
L – LIVELIHOOD
P – PEACE AND ORDER

Sabi nga natin, “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure”.

EDUCATION

PEACE AND ORDER

I agree, there are so many imbalances when it comes to infrastructure development which favors project in the North.

Speaking of Election, on behalf of Forum moderator and all members of Batangas Skycrapercity Thread, we encourage Batangueño youth, particularly those who will be turning 18 years old on or before October 31, 2012, to go to their nearest Commission on Elections (Comelec) office to register.

Church and LGUs are set to join forces this September 8 (Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary) to host the first-ever Marian Regatta in Taal...

First Marian Regatta to Open 9th National Pilgrimage to Lipa

(San Nicolas, Batangas) – The first-ever Marian Regatta to be held at scenic Taal Lake around its volcano will be held on September 8, birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This event, sponsored jointly by the Archdiocese of Lipa, the Provincial and local governments of Batangas, and private sectors, will serve also as the kick-off ceremonies for the forthcoming 9th Marian National Pilgrimage to Lipa on September 12.

Rev. Fr. Eleuterio Ramos, the over-all chairman, said that the theme “Taal Lake Batangas 2012, Marian Regatta: A Fluvial Procession for Peace, Family and LIfe” jives very well with the local church’s advocacy on environment centering on Taal Lake, and the need for more awareness of the faithful about the importance to defend the family and life. He said that the 13 municipal mayors surrounding the lake have agreed to promote this as they themselves would be beneficiaries from local and foreign tourists that would flock to witness this historic and first-ever regatta.

Mr. Pepe Alacantara, lay co-chairman for this event, disclosed that more than 50 boats with the images of the Blessed Virgin and their patron saints will participate in a synchronized fluvial procession to be assisted by the Coast Guard, the Maritime and the Provincial PNP.

“We will not be doing anything that will destroy the environment. The local governments have committed to do the clean-up of whatever things that would be left at the lake after the event,” he assured those who aired their concern over the materials to be used, and even the proposed fireworks display that would be one of the highlights of the event.

For his part, Archbishop Ramon C. Arguelles said that it is only right to bring to the attention of the Batanguenos to the plight of Taal Lake, which he said, quoting his predecessor, Gaudencio Cardinal B. Rosales, ”Taal Lake is the heart and identity of Batangas”.

“We should learn how to take care of the lake and its resources,” he said reiterating his plea for the fish cages to be dismantled and for the re-cultivation of the indigenous species that could only be found in Taal Lake. ”We will storm heaven with prayers during the fluvial procession, which will have the two Lipa Marian images prominently participating — the Lady of Caysasay and Mary Mediatrix of all Grace.”

It was learnt that the Archbishop will bring the Blessed Sacrament around the lake. Among the passengers in his boat will be Governor Vilma Santos Recto, who threw her full support to this project. The Governor said that this is an opportune time to promote tourism around the lake, which has a lot of resorts and other recreation centres, notably in San Nicolas, Talisay, Balete and Laurel, among others.

The Pride of Nasugbu, our Kababayan "L.A. Tenorio" leads Smart Gilas to gold medal in Jones Cup

Against an American team with superior size advantage, it was the smallest man on the Philippine side who stood tallest.

LA Tenorio delivered the biggest buckets in the SMART-Gilas Pilipinas national team’s 76-75 victory over USA to bring home the William Jones Cup to the Philippines for the first time since 1998.

The Alaska point guard scored 20 points, including the go-ahead basket with 17 seconds to go to lift SMART-Gilas to the win.

Before that, the 5-foot-8 Tenorio masterminded a Philippine comeback from a 13-point second half deficit. The US squad was still up, 59-46, with a minute left in the third quarter before SMART-Gilas unleashed a 15-0 run capped by a Tenorio runner to give the Philippines its first lead since the first quarter.

It was a nip and tuck affair the rest of the way, with USA grabbing the upper hand on a fastbreak layup by Jermaine Dearman, 75-74, with 36 seconds left.

SMART-Gilas coach Chot Reyes drew up a play that saw LA Tenorio breaking down his defender, dribbling left, and coolly sinking an 18-foot jumper for the win.

The Philippines won the tournament for the fourth time in its 34-year history, the last 14 years ago when the Philippine Centennial Team swept the field to bag the title.

Nabasa ko nga sa mga posts.. Wala kasi ako masyado updates about our province, aside from the on-going construction in front of SM City Lipa beside La Corona de Lipa.. SIGURO yun na yung SOGO Lipa?.. The Breeze Commercial Complex in Tambo is nearing its completion, ano kaya mga stores that its gonna offer.. Caritas Health has its Lipa building under construction along Ayala highway - malaki rin ung building that I think is a 2 or 3 storey building. Philippines Business Bank ang isang sure tenant ng soon to be finished commercial complex near Balintawak crossing - maganda yung complex with wide parking area.

Yung sa STAR Toll yung Breeze, ang ganda ng building..Wala akong balita sa Batangas City, its been months na ata since my last visit dun..Sa Tanauan maraming commercial buildings din under construction, ginigiba yung mga old structures along the highway to give way for bigger commercial centers sa hosts ng Alah Eh Festical this year... Sa Malvar naman, aside from two 7 eleven stores, there is this 5-storey building near Tanauan boundary that houses Monterrey meat shop, antagal ng construction ng building na yun pero hindi pa rin tapos till now... Parang hindi sya mini mall, commercial building lang with five to six stalls i think.. Meron din palang commercial building malapit sa kanto ng San Vicente - Banay-banay, may maliliit ding business establishments ang nagbukas that means there is this big potential in this area for business center.
Hindi lang sure if it will cover the entire national highway of San Jose like Lipa or will it just be the San Jose bypass section.

AMA Lipa Campus has transferred to its new yet smaller building near Hotel ni Mang Jose along Ayala highway. For Sale/Lease na yung dating building ng AMA..

Remember Our Fallen Batangueño Heroes Every Day

Philippines yesterday marked National Heroes’ Day as the Province of Batangas, known as the “Cradle of Noble Heroes”, joined the whole nation in commemorating the life and works of our Heroes who sacrificed themselves to liberate the country from colonial bondage.

Furthermore, I would encourage Batangueños to remember as well, not only once but always, the ultimate sacrifice of the men and women of Batangas during the last holdup who have fought and died defending our freedoms..

And likewise, to honor Batangueno revolutionary leaders and martyrs, who contributed much to Philippine libertarian movement during the latter half of the 19th century.

Among these nationalists are Apolinario Mabini, Gen. Miguel Malvar, Felipe Agoncillo, Marcela M. Agoncillo, Gen. Nicolas Lantin Gonzales, Teodoro M. Kalaw and others

National Heroes’ day comes once a year for most people, However, it is important that we not only honor our heroes on this Day but throughout the year.

Speaker Jose B. Laurel Jr. commemorative Stamp unveils today

During a special ceremony today, Sen. Manny Villar joins the nation to unveil the image of the Speaker Jose B. Laurel Jr. commemorative postage stamp. The Speaker Laurel stamp, honoring one of the nation's greatest Nationalists, had been issued last August 27, 2012. Villar to lead launching of Laurel commemorative stamp,
Wednesday at 5 pm
August 29, 2012

Sen. Manny Villar, Nacionalista Party president, will lead today, Wednesday, August 29, the ceremony launching the commemorative stamps in honor of the late Speaker Jose B. Laurel Jr.

As chairman of the Speaker Laurel Foundation, Villar said the issuance of the commemorative stamps in time for Laurel's 100th birth anniversary is one way to celebrate his life and to pay tribute to his valuable contribution to the country.

"I have high regard and deep admiration for Speaker Laurel. I and my fellow Nacionalistas measure ourselves against the ideals and standards he had set," Villar said.

He said Laurel's patriotism and nationalism mirrored his father's --the late President Jose P. Laurel's--attributes and are core values of the members of the NP, the oldest political party in the country.

Laurel who was born in Tanauan, Batangas, was one of the stalwarts of the NP and holds the distinction as the only Filipino leader elected three times as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

He was the youngest member of the First Congress of the Commonwealth of the Philippines when first elected in 1941 and authored laws such as the Retail Trade Nationalization Act of 1955 and the 1969 Magna Carta of Social Justice and Economic Freedom. He served as a legislator for 31 years.

During President Corazon Aquino's presidency, he was appointed to the Constitutional Commission that drafted the 1987 Constitution. He is recognized as one of the co-authors of the "Filipino First" policy in the constitution. He died on March 11, 1998 at the age of 85.

In his honor, Villar authored Senate Bill No. 1217 which seeks to name the strip of national highway connecting the towns ofTalisay, Laurel and Agoncillo in Batangas as the "Speaker Jose B. Laurel Jr. Highway."

The very first 7-Eleven store is Lipa Bayan, opened in 1996, followed by another one in Big Ben Lipa, a few weeks later simultaneous of the then newly constructed Big Ben Complex. It was only after six years, in 2002 that the third 7-eleven branch in our province opened, this time in Batangas City, along P. Burgos fronting City Hall. To this date, Batangas City has the most no. of 7-eleven stores with a total of five. It is good that they are now opening branches not only in our cities and towns but also in smaller municipalities. Goofd sign of progress.

Meanwhile, Ministop, another popular convenience store has three stores in Lipa, one in Batangas City and one in Tanauan.

Batangas still one of the most favorite places for foreign investment in the Philippines

Batangas, an important regional hub port in the country, is now an attractive premier investment destination for high-technology firms…Among those High Tech companies that have set up plants in the Province is the Japanese multinational corporation, Canon. It’s still the biggest Japanese investor for this year.. Here’s the News…

Ecozone investments up 15% to P106b
By Julito G. Rada | Posted on August 29, 2012

Investments in economic zones grew 14.9 percent in the first seven months year-on-year, on the back of investors’ confidence in the country, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority said Tuesday.

Peza promotions group head Elmer San Pascual said investment approvals in the seven-month period hit P105.7 billion, up from P91.9 billion recorded a year ago.

“Most of the approved projects were [for] expansions, accounting for almost 60 percent to 70 percent of the total projects,” San Pascual said.

He said Japanese investors led in terms of new investments made, followed by the Americans and other nationalities.

San Pascual said one of the biggest Japanese investments in the first seven months was the one made by Canon Group, which recently announced the start of the commercial operation of its P20-billion laser printer manufacturing facility in Batangas next year.continue (http://manilastandardtoday.com/2012/08/29/ecozone-investments-up-15-to-p106b/)

BATANGAS: The Rarity in the Familiar

As the nearest destination hub in the metro, the province of Batangas has a lot to offer. The Batangas City Port serves as an open gate to goods coming from different towns and nearby countries. The city holds a vast collection of rare antiques, century-old books, and ancient relics. Batangas is also home to some of the rarest tree and fish species, fruit bat, and coral reef. Filipino historian Maria Katigbak quoted the locals as the “Super-Tagalogs” because the Batangueños are known to exemplify Filipino values and follow traditions religiously.

Tamagotchi maker eyes Batangas plant
By Alena Mae S. Flores | Posted on September 03, 2012

Bandai Namco Group of Japan, the company behind the popular Tamagotchi virtual pet electronic game and the Gundam and Power Ranger action figures, is investing P400 million in a toy manufacturing facility at a business park in Batangas.

The Alcantara Group, which owns the 485-hectare LiMA Technology Center in Lipa and Malvar, said the toy factory would produce action figures, vending machine capsule products and other amusement items.

It said construction of the 10,000-square meter factory was expected to begin in October while operations were projected to start by next year.

Bandai Namco Group established Bandai (Philippines) Inc. to oversee the plant operations in Batangas.

The LiMA Technology Center, the future home of the Bandai facility, currently hosts 38 locators employing more than 19,000 employees. These locators are engaged in various manufacturing pursuits ranging from automobile components and motorcycles to printers, plastic moldings, and LCD projectors.

Locators at the industrial park, which is designated as a special economic zone by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority, are entitled to tax incentives such as income-tax holidays and exemption from duties and taxes on imported capital equipment.

The LiMA Technology Center is a project of LiMA Land Inc. a joint venture of the Marubeni Corp. of Japan and Alsons Land Corp. of the Alcantara Group.

The Alcantara Group is engaged in aquaculture, agribusiness, power project development, power generation management, and services, apart from the creation and management of industrial estates and other property development ventures.
