De Snor June 5th, 2003, 11:39 AM the fifth pic seems rather good , it looks dense but what I see on the other pics is rather poor .
BGT June 5th, 2003, 07:37 PM 6.5/10
Evergrey June 12th, 2003, 04:42 AM Orlando has an extremely weak skyline for its metro size... though the tallest, Suntrust, is quite awesome
3.5
Deventer Up June 16th, 2003, 12:41 PM 7/10 The buildings are not high enough and too wide. Though, Orlando looks a great city with the best themeparks in the world. I'm going to Orlando in two weeks and i'm really looking forward to it. Not because of the skyline, unfortunatly.
renell June 16th, 2003, 04:45 PM 4/10
quite a weak skyline from what i would expect
Necker June 17th, 2003, 10:24 PM 3.5/10
The Messiah June 19th, 2003, 09:46 PM It has nice buildings but they are just too short.
5.0/10

Kaneda July 31st, 2003, 06:16 PM It's an okay skyline. The fourth picture is pretty good. 4.5/10
cincyimages August 8th, 2003, 06:00 PM My old city....

That fifth pic definitely looks good, appears to have density, well-defined core and good height. However I love aerials to get a better feel of a place, and that aerial shows too much open space (carparks maybe??) and that the taller buildings are too far apart, looks more like nice buildings sticking up on their own rather than a skyline. Needs to be infilled more, not necessarliy more height, just more density.

kota16 October 16th, 2004, 06:08 PM Quite nice. I will give it 8/10.
Hisma October 16th, 2004, 06:46 PM I grew up in Orlando, I love the city, but I still only give the skyline a 6.5 out of 10. It's a city more enjoyed on street level. They plan on fixing the density issues very soon however. Of course, it seems every city is proposing numerous projects, I'll believe it when I finally see it!
lammius November 15th, 2004, 05:30 AM 5/10. Some good buildings but they're so far apart. The skyline is just spread out along I-4. Believe it or not those pics make it look more dense than it really is.
Anvers30 December 14th, 2004, 05:25 PM It has a little skyline for a city size. 6.5/10
DamienK December 17th, 2004, 09:24 PM 6/10
Diboto December 18th, 2004, 08:12 AM Unfortunately it looks better in pictures than in real life. Not very dense.
the_1_and_only_cuban December 18th, 2004, 09:24 PM Man, if only this thread would have waited until some of the proposed projects and under construction projects were done. Orlando has several 30 story to 25 story towers going up like Vue and some other huge twin tower project with retail and a movie theater. In a small skylines like Orlando this will make a huge impact. When these projects are done maybe a 7.5 but right now a 6..
MattSal July 9th, 2005, 08:45 PM Nice medium-sized skyline. I give it a 6.5/10.
System_Halted July 9th, 2005, 09:59 PM I think it is nice, even if, it is not very dense. 8/10
Zarkon July 10th, 2005, 03:29 PM another underrated american city.. 7
SoboleuS July 10th, 2005, 07:57 PM Nothing spectacular, but looks OK. 6,5/10
FloridaFuture July 12th, 2005, 12:33 AM This is a very small and undersized skyline now but they have a lot of projects too.
6.5 for now
Cmeansbsktbl1 July 13th, 2005, 01:31 AM there are other tall buildings outside of the downtown area most of them are resorts. they would look nice if they were in the downtown area. would help to fill out the skyline
SDfan July 13th, 2005, 04:52 AM More depth would help it along. Overall it gets a 6.
DRAKKO July 14th, 2005, 08:12 PM 5/10

SilverstarO-town September 3rd, 2005, 01:36 AM I live in Orlando and always thought it had a small skyline for its metro population, but it looks pretty nice from some angles. 7.0/10

Spaulding97 December 7th, 2005, 06:57 PM :eek2: I Lived there for 8 months and i hated it! Everything is Disney Disney Disney. I was living a nightmare!!!
lancetop December 12th, 2005, 01:11 AM I'm from Jacksonville and we used to vacation in Orlando all the time. It's a fun fun place, and when you're there it feels like you're at one of the world's crossroads. People from all over the world all the time.
Best kept secret in Orlando? Downtown Orlando, where the locals go. DT is lotsa fun with cool bars and clubs, a few nice tourist places (reasonably priced!) and there is a nice feeling in the air.
Orlando is a huge place and it sprawls up to it's many satellite cities and towns. Disney et.al are in Kissimmee, a satellite city.
Orlando's skyline should be taller and more dense, but when you're driving on I-4 beside DT Orlando, it looks pretty damn impressive!
8.5

hauntedheadnc February 26th, 2006, 10:25 PM The skyline is sparse for a city of such size, but the buildings are mostly very attractive, and the lakes provide for some truly stunning views -- especially that lake where they've put a fountain in the center. I think it proves that you always need a forest of supertalls to make a really nice skyline. 8/10
Nikom June 1st, 2006, 03:21 PM I like Orlando skyline 9.5/10 :)
LMCA1990 June 2nd, 2006, 11:00 PM 7/10- it can be much better.
panamaboy9016 June 5th, 2006, 04:10 AM That's what I like about the Florida skylines...They have some average skylines...NOt much but they have a lot of skylines within the state...

SayHelloToMyLilFrein July 2nd, 2006, 12:37 PM Orlando along with tampa and jacksonville have fairly small skylines but Miami WOW !!! Miami has more high rises in the metro than the metro of los angeles.Miami is third in the country for number of high rises in the metro areas for the united states only following new york and chicago.there is over 1,600 high rises in the Miami area now thats impressive. To add to this Miami has been experiencing the biggest building boom in the world by far.it started a few years ago and its really just the beginning. 65 high rise buildings currently under construction 79 more aprooved and 47 proposed thats a wopping 191 buildings WOW !!!!! 69 of those buildings are over 500 ft tThe tallest is 1,400 ft 120 story twin towers. a couple more are in the 900 ft 80 story range and one under construction right now is 866 ft 74 stories called met 3.The tallest current building in Miami right now is the 70 story mixed use four seasons tower. These are mostley apartments. There has to be a second boom of office buildings if this boom ever ends but right now there is no end in sight.More projects are added every day.People are not just selling them people are making lotteries the demand is so strong. The numbers above are just downtown Miami its not including all of the other areas in Miami that are booming such as kendall little havanna coral gables sunny isles south beach aventura and so on waahh to many to count!!!!
SayHelloToMyLilFrein July 2nd, 2006, 12:46 PM I think the rest of the cities in FLORIDA are going to catch on which they already have but not to the scale as Miami. The up to date poulation in Florida is 18 million. Orlando is just over 2 million as for the rest of the major cities in Florida Tampa is over 2.6 million jacksonville is at 1.4 million and Miami is at 6 million not including all the illeagal people that flock there. There is a huge rise in population of daytona beach and gainsville. It wont be long before Floridas 4 major cities will be 6 major cities.

Basel_CH October 22nd, 2010, 11:11 PM I was one time in Orlando, around 1990, and never saw a so boring city like this. I mean there is Disney Land, Sea world and so far, but the city had main street with a little bit activities, looked like in the wild west, but nothing more. You went to streets besides, and it was like in a dead desert, strange feeling there, dont know, how this city can be the second most attractive tourist city of the US, besides New York City.

To those complaining about height: not gonna happen any time soon. Approaches to the airports (there are 2) limit height in down town Orlando so unless the FAA changes their mind then heights are not going to get much higher. Tampa has a similar problem through most of DT.
