8/10
renell June 24th, 2003, 05:43 PM 7/10 the skyscrapers in the city looks good, however the skyline i would say is... weak. the best ones are too spread far apart..
perekamuda June 30th, 2003, 04:18 AM It should be the best skyline in the world if awesome towers like: Emirates tower (1 & 2), Burj Al Arab hotel and Jumeirah beach Hotel developed together in one complex
Fabio July 31st, 2003, 09:54 PM 9/10
Not much a skyline but the quality, maybe with some more it would earn 10.
dumatod September 21st, 2003, 02:55 PM Few best looking ultra-mordern buildings, the rest of majority are not good.
waterloo September 22nd, 2003, 03:15 AM the only building i like in Dubai is Buri hotel.

leealex_24 November 19th, 2003, 11:29 AM Not many buildings here, which significies the lack of density. But, for the buildings are very nicely architectured and in addition, to the lake gives it an extra plus. I give 8/10
SeeMacau November 19th, 2003, 11:59 AM Dubai has some modern and amazing buildings
The skyline will change very soon !!
Now : 8/10
Future : 10/10
Aquarius November 19th, 2003, 07:08 PM high buildings and with a good design to be one Arab capital therefore 9/10
Primo November 19th, 2003, 09:49 PM 8.5 for now in the future it will be one of the best in the world, watch out with Dubai in 15 years
Farrapo December 2nd, 2003, 08:14 PM burj al arab hotel is one of my favorite buildings!!!! and all the buildings in dubai look great!!! ... but the location isnt beautiful as the buildings... then 8/10
Yarwinish December 3rd, 2003, 01:21 AM 10/10
Nice skyline and modern buildings.
baqthier December 4th, 2003, 07:28 AM Skyline's not that nice..but the buildings are all just great. 8/10:angel1:
TallBox December 4th, 2003, 09:24 PM 8.5/10

ryanr April 3rd, 2004, 03:13 PM Best skyline in this part of the world...Will be a major skyline city in the future! 9/10 I just love all its futuristic buildings.
zuhahmed May 23rd, 2004, 07:13 AM dubai is already number 1 for me, simply there is no other city in the world which has construction like dubai
rayman May 23rd, 2004, 09:27 AM i love the designs on those highrises of dubai, very cool but on many pictures it looks like all tower are build on a long lane on one street so it will make it look empty behind them .... like a wall...8/10
SoboleuS May 24th, 2004, 01:21 PM In world's scale it's 8/10, but because it's built in a desert I'll rate it 9/10. The speed of development of this city is really shocking
John May 24th, 2004, 01:55 PM In the future it surely will deserve a 10, though now I give it a 9 :)
that's my city of dreams :D

Rickster885 July 8th, 2004, 08:41 AM Right now Dubai is pretty nice with some interesting buildings. It has a lot of potential though and in the future it looks like it could possibly rank right up there with Hong Kong. I give it an 8/10 for now.
skylover July 8th, 2004, 08:39 PM It will be one of the best & the most modern skyline in the world pretty soon.
9.5/10
smartlake July 13th, 2004, 10:36 AM I like it. Like many of you, I think that this city's skyline will be more prominent in the future.
yoyo22 July 13th, 2004, 09:16 PM 7/10
This will be a great skyline in the future. Pretty darn good now. Its a little two narrow, maybe needs a little depth in the buildings, but the buildings themselves are each individually great. , but not enough, and not spaced enough to get really good marks. For its size, though, Dubai is a great city.
mauiboy63sea July 31st, 2004, 05:15 AM A few incredibly nice buildings. I like the futuristic architecture. But is it just me, or does this city lack balance? From some of the skyline shots, a tall building surrounded by shorties. Although the new tower will just be incredible, will it not just prove my observation again. I like the city but the gaps horizontally and vertically bar me from giving it higher than 6.5.

GUTO4EVER September 28th, 2004, 05:14 AM Wow... The most impressive city in my opinion... The skyline still goes to improve... 9,5/10
AltinD September 29th, 2004, 05:53 PM Mosltly are vision and the aerea is still mostly a sand patch with construction sites spread on it, however 6 of them are U/C with one already topped up.
GuilhermeC October 2nd, 2004, 05:35 PM I don't like most of the buildings in Dubai, but I'm particularly fond of the Burj al Arab, the project of the Burj Dubai and that spectacular marina... 7/10
Kev the burninator November 9th, 2004, 03:19 AM The Burj Dubai is the most amazing building ever.... i can't believe its gunna be 160 stories... crazy! very cool.
sean storm December 1st, 2004, 08:35 PM despite having some of the coolest modern towers around, the cityscape feels very undeveloped and odd... a collection of glassy futuristic towers in a desert, basically.
in a few years it will improve like shanghai and other developing cities, but for now i'd give it a 7.5
AltinD December 1st, 2004, 08:58 PM despite having some of the coolest modern towers around, the cityscape feels very undeveloped and odd... a collection of glassy futuristic towers in a desert, basically.
in a few years it will improve like shanghai and other developing cities, but for now i'd give it a 7.5
The cityscape you're talking about is a villa district very well organised streaching for 10 miles till the Burj Al Arab Hotel, visible in the distance.
I don't call a aerea full of BMWs, Mercedes, Porsches and Ferraris a undeveloped one. :runaway:
TORONTOCOPENHAGEN December 5th, 2004, 10:06 PM I think that the problem with Dubai is that most activitities take place indoor, at shopping malls or hotels, simply because it's too hot. Nevertheless, the skyline is very nice. 8 out of 10.
DamienK December 12th, 2004, 01:23 PM 8/10
Trances December 12th, 2004, 01:28 PM 2 1/2 year so whole new world
should call this one dubai 2003/4
B@dGuYoM December 12th, 2004, 01:32 PM 8/10 because no real cluster but a lots of building arround the city. In 2008 it would be a 10 i give
salvius December 20th, 2004, 09:37 AM Dubai's growing on me
myfoong December 23rd, 2004, 05:35 PM I have never been to this city but I heard a lot of good things about this city and I wish can be there. A very nice muslim and free city (that's what I heard of). Keep the prosperity up.
amp December 24th, 2004, 07:12 PM Not incredible big as of now but awesome modern architechture, 9/10. :dj:
tritown December 24th, 2004, 07:36 PM I actually like the older part of the skyline best, as is expemplified in the last picture in post number 83. And as amp stated, the architecture of each individual building is wonderful. I think that it will take a while before all these individual works of art become a homogenous skyline. Thus, I rate it as 8 out of 10 as an overall skyline, even though many of the buildings I would give a 9.5 or a 10. :)
centralized pandemonium December 24th, 2004, 08:33 PM 7.5. Not too dense right now.
Taufiq December 28th, 2004, 10:01 AM 10/10
flex December 28th, 2004, 10:50 AM the buildings are beautifull but the skyline is in my oppinion not so good, 6/10
System_Halted December 28th, 2004, 06:54 PM Great architechture!! But could be better if they prefered puting all in a smaller area instead of lining them. (Prob. lining them cause less traffic. Clever!)
9/10
FCG January 10th, 2005, 04:07 PM WOW!!
This is one of the most beautifull city's on earth! Sun, sand, beach, awesome architechture! This town deserves a 9.9!!! (so I will give a 10)
Harrisburgcity January 27th, 2005, 01:46 AM 10/10
These pictures are not the best of this city. Having been there, i would have to say this city has the most modern and possibly best skyline in the world, and it keeps changing every month
MIMICA January 27th, 2005, 03:50 AM i can easily say that dubai has the best buildings in any skyline, and once more projects get in, the skyline will be alot more dense, and in mabye 5 years, probably become some sort of modern hong kong. love the skyline, looks the buildings, love the city, and love the country...
final vote - 10 :)
MIMICA January 27th, 2005, 03:51 AM sooooo clean! :) :eek2:
http://www.visitdubai.info/bildergalerie/big/bild89.jpg
Notts-Lad February 6th, 2005, 04:56 AM 10/10 Dunno wot the place is like, hot most probably, by on its skyline alone, this place is pushing the boundary up
acco40 February 6th, 2005, 05:54 AM i like this city very much. it has a very nice skyline to begin with, and as i understand it, it is construction alot of skyscrapers. this would be a very nice city to visit later on in the future, especially in 10 years, when it has a even better skyline, and the city is more developed. :)
so far, i would give it a 10, and when all the other projects finish, i would rate it even higher if it were possible. :)
final vote - 10/10 :)
i_am_hydrogen February 15th, 2005, 09:29 AM This city is so perfect-looking and clean it almost doesn't look real.
The skyline, right now, is too loose and too narrow to warrant 9s or 10s.
8.5/10
Blahb February 16th, 2005, 01:28 AM 9.5/10
I like it. :O
Falcaonet February 19th, 2005, 04:03 PM Great 9/10
waustralia February 19th, 2005, 04:30 PM 9/10. Just adding.. I hate the palm islands, so incredibly stupid/tacky.
KulasKusgan February 27th, 2005, 04:31 AM impressive skyline.
andysimo123 March 3rd, 2005, 12:16 AM 7/10 give it afew more years and it will be great.
Victoria March 3rd, 2005, 09:42 PM Looks neat. 7/10.
Candy March 4th, 2005, 09:23 PM 8.5 now... 10+ in the close future :)
soennecken March 5th, 2005, 06:37 PM 7/10 the skyscrapers in the city looks good, however the skyline i would say is... weak. the best ones are too spread far apart..
Patience my friend. The skyline is becoming more dense on a monthly basis.
By the end of 2005 another picture taken from the same spot will tell another story.
Ashok March 21st, 2005, 08:12 PM 8/10 for now
29A March 22nd, 2005, 06:48 AM I agree,
Dubai is a great city. very nice skyscrapers. I would say it is one of the premier skylines of Asia, along with Shanghai and Seoul. The density will CERTAINLY increase, although it is not much now. Wait till the burj dubai is constructed! i give 9.5/10
Shafick March 23rd, 2005, 09:03 AM The Best.... 10 points...!
VansTripp March 23rd, 2005, 09:05 AM 10 point. Dubai is best!!!!
melb_man March 23rd, 2005, 02:25 PM I think Dubai is a very nice looking city with some really well designed scrapers. I would say its one of the most modern, quality/stylish skylines around these days. So I give it a good 9/10
The only problem I have with Dubai is location :-). Looks too hot, dusty and barren type of country, there's not much GREEN and it also looks so flat. I know you guys are in the desert - but with all that money maybe you could build a few land features (hills) and add some lush vegetation etc :-).
AltinD March 23rd, 2005, 02:45 PM ^ Actually there are a lot of parks in Dubai and more are being build. There is a lot of landscaping going on. Actually if you visit, you'll be surprised how much greenery is around for a desert city. I was myself, when I first came here.
The Municipality target is 8% of Dubai aerea to be green.
Dubai-Lover March 23rd, 2005, 02:52 PM yes, dubai is very green and with all the new projects there will be much more
we even have golf courses within the city
i can tell you there is no lack in green areas in dubai!
it's of great advantage to build all these projcts with a masterplan. the whole are to be developed can be carefully planned
DRAKKO March 25th, 2005, 11:20 PM great city and skyline 10/10
MattSal March 25th, 2005, 11:46 PM A great city with some lovely buildings. I give it a 9/10.
mc March 26th, 2005, 12:37 AM I just don't understand why all the negativity about Dubai. Pictures are worth thousand words. Why can't ppl just accept the fact that transforming miles of desert into a vibrant city it's in and on itself a great achievment. Rated 9 only bcs its a continually developing project - otherwise no doubt 10.
Javi March 29th, 2005, 05:12 PM Good buildings, I like them so much!!! 10/10
lakegz March 30th, 2005, 05:06 AM with the exception of the burj dubai and the tallest emirates tower, i think the architecture is very kitschy and tacky. too linear for me and it seems as if theres no life humming around these scrapers like there is in the HK, NY, Chicago, and even London ones.
yonny March 30th, 2005, 06:04 AM A great city with great buildings !!!!! :eek2:
Wezza March 30th, 2005, 12:10 PM Has some nice buildings, but at the moment, for the skyline as a whole, it's nothing special. Give it a few years i suppose.
Kenwen May 1st, 2005, 05:56 AM It looks very strange a mordern city surrounding by desert, I think if u go out for a while there u will find ur socks fill up with sand

btw 10/10 of course, though i already voted long time ago.
12/10 in five years , 14/10 in 10 years ...
hope it will go on like that :D
alex_d May 10th, 2005, 01:01 AM in terms of skyline 9.5/10, in terms of beauty, not in my type....too much gold and reflex, it's a city without a soul , made for cars not people ....you can hardly see people on these pics, ofcourse there are plenty of unusual buildings and plenty of them is rising however i prefer european cities
ChrisLifeStyle May 10th, 2005, 05:27 AM I give it "8".... but in some years late!!! maybe "10"
malec May 13th, 2005, 09:00 PM As someone already said:
"8" in 2005
"10" in 2010!!!
612bv3 May 14th, 2005, 02:36 AM 8/10
Valeroso June 13th, 2005, 08:03 AM Dubai has an interesting skyline in that all the buildings are mainly separated from each other; but the whole desert feeling makes it even more interesting! The buildings are pretty colourful, and futuristic (especially that hotel building next to the sea), and its one of the best, if not the best skyline in the Middle East. However, I wouldn't go so far as to calling it the best skyline in the world; give it a few more years and I expect it to be bigger and possibly better.
8/10
geminiguy7 June 15th, 2005, 01:21 AM 9/10
vanboyH June 15th, 2005, 02:02 AM 7.5/10
I don't like it because it's too "futuristic" looking.
Azn_chi_boi June 15th, 2005, 02:04 AM too new, everything from one time period... 6......
its like dubai wants to beat HK, NYC, and Chicago in skylines....
pottebaum June 15th, 2005, 02:12 AM There are some cool buildings, but the tacky planning kills it for me.
malec June 18th, 2005, 10:41 AM This is definitely on of my favourite shots. Stole Krazy's pic from the Burj-dubai thread. The skyline looks much better here because it has less of a lego look as you all say. See the burj just popping its head up over the ground. In about 5 years imagine what it'll be like :) This pic shows this the best.

OtAkAw June 19th, 2005, 08:44 AM attention-seeking, self-obsessed city that envies the greatness of hk, ny and chicago.
3, no offense.

MIMICA September 1st, 2005, 04:46 AM Dubai is probably one of my favorite cities in the world. I was just wondering; won’t the city be extremely hot with the sun hitting all that concrete?
1st Division Marine September 1st, 2005, 05:46 AM i give it a 10 outer 10.
luv2bebrown September 1st, 2005, 05:50 AM right now the skyscrapers are nice. 9/10 but the overall arrangment of the towers is not ideal. 4/10
for the longest while i was extremely frustrated that each new tower coming up were based on the same square footprint format. thankfully, the towers have started to diversify. once DIFC and business bay come online, dubai will earn its 10 rating.

SkyscraperJunky November 24th, 2005, 06:20 PM Dubai's skyline happened because they figured out that oil wasn't going to be there forever. It's very smart move to create Dubai as a tourist destination. Now they are just trying to play the catch-up game so as to not get left behind when their wells run dry. I gave it a 8 but come back to it in 10 years and I'm sure it will rank up there with NYC, HK, and Chicago.
sarcastic_cow November 25th, 2005, 12:12 AM dubai is truly amazing. ive only seen in once on television but i didnt imagine it would have this much construction. good for the united arab emirates. they should be proud of this wonderful city.

Franky January 10th, 2006, 12:44 PM I gave Dubai a 10/10, not because I like the choice of buildings, but because of its sheer size for a city about the size of Las Vegas. In a few years, the really supertalls will be finished and it will be the best skyline on Earth! Go Dubai!

Spearman January 13th, 2006, 04:11 AM 8/10. All the talls are centered along a road, making it appear thin from some angles. Still, it has more 300m+ than anywhere else, and in a few years, I'm sure the BD alone will pump up the 2 extra points. ;)

10/10.
Why is it that people consider Dubai to be fake? If Dubai builds something, people say that it is trying to be New York but when Singapore or China build something they call it unique.
I dont know why people are so jealous. Is it because they cant stand an arab/muslim city dominating? I dont know but I'm curious to find out the reason of their jealousy.
Even if Dubai is a muslim, arab, and a hot desert city, it still has the right to do whatever it desires. Whether that includes growing grass/trees, building the worlds tallest building, the worlds biggest airport, the worlds richest horse race, the worlds tallest hotel, or whatever. Its Dubai's right and dont give me the crap that Dubai has no history. It doesnt need a history to be successful. Its history in the making. If one does need a history to be succesful then why isnt Egypt prosperous? What history did New York have in the early 1900s? None and infact it still has no history. Hate it or love it, Dubai is gona dominate.

whitefordj July 29th, 2006, 10:28 AM How can Dubai be in the top 20, most of the city isn't even built yet. In about 15 years it will be worthy of the top 20. 7/10 for all the weird looking skyscrapers.
your right, as it is far to awsome for the top 20. it is all alown in the world as the #1 skyscraper city of the present day. no city even comes close to the skyscraper art that is going on in dubai. it is by far the: coolest, most mondern, dreamy, futuristic, impressive, invisioned, tallest, bold, amazing, specacular, well concived, and most of all covet spawning city ever. that is why so many hate this city. it is too good for most, so they make up reasons to dislike, or even hate Dubai. they are so dwarfed by what they see in threads like this one that they say stuff like: it looks tacky, dubai is ugly, looks like dysney land, them buildings are to far apart, or it will take 20 yrs to fill in the gaps. well i think it will take 20 yrs to fill the gap between the naysayers ears, because there cant be nothing there, they sure dont have any eyes in between them. face it dubai is building more in one week than other cities are doing in 20 yrs. them empty lots will be gone by the time there cities get one preposal aproved. and when i mean filled, i mean with a real skyscraper of dubai's standerd. that means way nicer, taller, dreamy, bold, and so on, than there stallwart of a city. so say what you will; however that wont change a thing. dubai will still be kicken skyscraper ass way after they get that one crap-assed pussy tower in their oldenday skyline. the real skyscrapers are being built in dubai. the rest of are left to sit back and watch. jeez i sure hope my city actuly aproves that new 60 story tower soon. 2 yrs lattter. geeez i wish they will get on with it. and so on. at least in dubai, when the the boss says do it it gets done. fast like. so i will sit back and watch in amazement. I am so glad that dubai is doing what the rest dont have the balls to even consider. just had to say this stuff because somone has to say it. the naysayers are making me want to barf. :runaway:

Krazy August 7th, 2006, 10:21 PM This is a 3d model made by UAE forumer malec that shows what Dubai's downtown skyline will look like in about 5-10 years from now. The skyline includes accurate drawings and map layouts of the sheikh zayed road highway, dubai international financial center, burj dubai and the massive business bay creek extension. All in all, the projects add up to around 800-900 highrise towers with at least 4 towers over 100 stories and 400m+ in height.
