Actually it is the renovated version from the very small, old one.... NOT GOOD LOOKIING AT ALL.... The renovation were taken place from 2002 to 2005.... WE ALSO DEMOLISHED FORMER PEKANBARU MAIN STADIUM in front of this MASJID... and RELOCATED the MAIN STADIUM to RUMBAI Suburb Area. Yuppp, it made this masjid has very-very-very large park and greenery to be grown....

Dont know how to get PEKANBARU... Dont worry it is very easy take direct flight from
1. Batam (45 minute) by Garuda Citylink, Merpati, Lion Air, Riau Airlines, and Batavia Air
2. Medan (55 minute) by Sriwijaya, Mandala, Merpati
3. KL (50 minute) by AirAsia, and Riau AIrlines
4. Jambi (less than an hour) by Riau Airlines..
5. Singapore ( 50 minute) by Garuda Indonesia.. pls no protest, this is the only airline when we want to go to S'pore directly...
6. Jakarta, of course (1 hour and 30 minute) by Garuda Indonesia, Adam Air, Lion Air, Wings Air, Batavia Air, Mandala Airlines, Sriwijaya Airlines...

By Ferry:
1. From Melaka, Malaysia (6 hours)
2. From Batam (12 hours++)

By road :
1. Drive from Jakarta (usually takes 1 day)

The closest town: Bangkinang (60 km away from downtown Pekanbaru, or 45 km away from Pekanbaru border...) duration: minimum 40-50 minutes, normal: 1 hour plus....


Please.... pleasee ... please.... PEKANBARU is a business centre of central sumatra. For someone who wants tourist spot, you can go to our neighbour West SUmatra province, by bus..
^^ THE MOST RECOMMENDED to GO WEST SUMATRA....... were Transiting in PEKANBARU.... THe hotmix asphalt road with good view, were the plus, if u take this route.... Even, Dorce Gamalama (famous Indonesian TV host or Presenter) use this route......

Actually, when Pekanbaru were first designed. The airport were placed (or consider) far at that time. Btw, the fast growth of Pekanbaru size, makes this airport is surrounded by dense residential complex rite now...... This airport made Pekanbaru cannot build building any higher than 15 to 20 stories...
So, before 2020 the govt decided to move this airport far from the city...

1. Although it is just the 5th largest city in Sumatra, the GDP were the second highest in Sumatra after Medan. (refer to Ciputra Website) and also the airport is second busiest in Sumatra.

Ya intinya proses pembebasan lahan berjalan sangat lancar ketika Jalan akan dilebarkan....

7. Pekanbaru got the highest rate for the cleanest big city in Indonesia. In fact before 2002 Pekanbaru is the dirtiest city in Indonesia with so many street vendor in protocol road (main avenue Jalan Jendral Sudirman). But today, the cleanliness is perfectly maintained even in suburb area not just the downtown..... Dont even try to imagine dirty wet market here... eVEN some dirty market has been relocated to the new building.. It made Pekanbaru got the ADIPURA Award for BEST TRADITIONAL MARKET.

8. The dirtiest part of Pekanbaru is Siak River, due to CPO pollutants....*damn*

9. Theoritically, there is NO slum area in Pekanbaru. Almost all Pekanbaru live in organized or so-so organized residential complex... Yeah, build a house on your own is quite expensive here, since you have to dump, Pekanbaru swampy land...."ha ha ha, lucky us!!!"

10. Theoritically, no beggar aroud Pekanbaru.... Yeah, Pekanbaru govt lil bit strict about this... Some of them even were sent back to their hometown by local govt.

11. B careful when you drive in Pekanbaru, wide road with only few drivers on it, make Pekanbaru driver is a lit bit "HIGHWAY-minded" especially motor riders.. But, almost any intersection of Pekanbaru main road has Police stand.... So, remember to use helmet or safety belt...... (Please dont be ignorant about this thing).

12. Please... please please be aware, Pekanbaru is not tourist destination, the closest beach were 200+ km away, and then the closest mountain view were 100+ km away.... Pekanbaru is only good for business and investation,..

13. Pekanbaru also one of the city in INDONESIA that has the highest living cost. Biaya hidup setara Jakarta, Jayapura, and Balikpapan. Maybe, it becoz, local govt also gives high salary for PNS (civil servant)...

14. Simply, the city of JOB SEEKER..... some multinational big company....some national big company... PTPn IX, CHEVRON, RIau Andalan Pulp Paper (largest prooducent of Bubur Kertas in Asia Pacific, do u know "Paper One"??), PErtamina (yeah u know it..), Indah Kiat paper, so many CPO based company here (lahan kelapa sawit adalah yang terluas di Indonesia sejak 2002 ke atas, sebelumnya di pegang Sumatra Utara)...


15. On top of that, Pekanbaru actually is the relocated capital city of Riau province... Yeah, we moved the capital city from TANJUNG PINANG, Bintan Island in 1960s. So, this is the main reason why this city is well-planned. yeah, Kantor Gubernurnya pun punya halaman yang guedddeee kayak istana raja. Belum lagi rumah gubernur yang sangat besar and ada mini-zoo di dalamnya... This city is quite new, simply not an ex-colonial city.. Some suburb, even has turned to the new downtown in last 6 years...

Additional fact:

1. Pekanbaru also got the first local TV in Indonesia in 2001, Pekanbaru TV (now RiauTV), also become the first TV station that has special studio in shopping centre in Indonesia.

2. Same like Jakartans who spends weekend in Puncak or Bandung, or Medanese in Brastagi, Surabayan in Malang.... PEkanbarus spends weekend in Bukit Tinggi. But, our destination is much further so we have to stay overnight there.

3. South Pekanbaru suburb is also the land of organic agriculture. Some of organic veggies were exported to S'pore.

4. Not like another city booms in Indonesia, most new projects in Pekanbaru were owned by government This made me actually happy, we have very care local government..... Although, I cannot deny, yet we still have KKN here....

5. Pekanbaru also has the lowest illiteracy rate in Indonesia (in fact 99.4% Pekanbarus can read and write)... See KOMPAS Article editorial and opinion page...

Riau Ditunjuk sebagai Tuan Rumah FFI 2007

PEKANBARU (RP) - Satu lagi hajatan nasional yang akan digelar di Provinsi Riau. Setelah sebelumnya Riau ditetapkan sebagai tuan rumah PON tahun 2012. Pada tahun 2007, Provinsi Riau dipercaya oleh Kementerian Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata, sebagai tuan rumah Festival Film Indonesia (FFI).


Kepastian Riau menjadi tuan rumah FFI tahun 2007, setelah Direktur Perfilman Departemen Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata serta Ketua FFI melakukan pertemuan dengan Gubernur Riau HM Rusli Zainal, Sabtu (9/12) di Kediaman. Dalam pertemuan tersebut Gubri, telah memastikan bahwa Riau siap menjadi tuan rumah FFI 2007.

Menurut Direktur Perfilman Departemen Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata Drs Bakri MM, kepada Riau Pos, ada banyak keuntungan yang akan diperoleh Riau sebagai tuan rumah. Salah satunya FFI sebagai ajang promosi bagi Riau dalam pengembangan perfilman di daerah ini. Apalagi bila ditinjau dari kebudayaan dan seni yang dimiliki Riau, sangat berpotensi untuk diangkat ke tingkat nasional.

‘’Menteri Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata telah menghimbau agar pelaksanaan puncak kegiatan FFI dilaksanakan di daerah. Dengan tujuan untuk mendorong pengembangan perfilman nasional, tidak hanya bertumpu di tingkat pusat,’’ungkap Bakri.

Bakri juga menjelaskan, untuk pelaksanaan FFI tahun 2007, pihaknya telah menganggarkan dana yang berasal dari APBN sebesar Rp1,75 miliar. Dana ini akan digunakan untuk sekretariat FFI 2007. Sedangkan untuk Riau sendiri sebagai tuan rumah, harus mempersiapkan sarana dan prasarana dalam pelaksanaan hari puncak FFI 2007.

‘’Saya mengusulkan agar Riau membuat satu buah film, yang mengangkat segala pernak-pernik budaya yang dimiliki. Sehingga dalam pelaksanaan FFI nanti, bisa diikutsertakan. Dalam acara puncak FFI 2006 yang dilaksanakan tanggal 21 Desember 2006, nanti akan diumumkan Riau sebagai tuan rumah FFI 2007,’’ terangnya.

Sementara itu, Ketua FFI Joni Syafrudin yang merupakan putra asli Pekanbaru, di tempat terpisah mengatakan, ini merupakan ajang promosi yang baik bagi Riau dalam upaya pengembangan film di daerah ini. Apalagi bila ditinjau dari sisi budaya, Riau memiliki potensi untuk dikembangkan. Ditambah lagi Riau merupakan daerah yang banyak melahirkan seniman dan budayawan yang disegani di tingkat Nasional.

‘’Jangan pelaksanaan FFI hanya terpusat di Jakarta, sesungguhnya daerah juga memiliki potensi. Gubernur sangat antusias ditunjuknya Riau sebagai tuan rumah. Bila dilihat kebelakang, setelah 18 tahun berlalu, baru tahun 2007 ini, pelaksanaan puncak FFI dilaksanakan di daerah,’’ terang Joni yang juga ketua Bioskop Seluruh Indonesia.

Sementara itu Anggota DPRD Riau yang juga Seniman Riau Drs Eddy Ahkmad RM, kepada Riau Pos, mengatakan, dengan ditunjuknya Riau sebagai tuan rumah FFI, merupakan sesuatu yang perlu didukung semua pihak. Karena selama ini, geliat perfilman di Riau, menunjukan perkembangan yang positif.

‘’Kita telah memiliki beberapa produksi film, yang tema diangkat dari budaya Riau, seperti Tuanku Tambusai, Mencari Pencuri Anak Perawan, Pasir Berbisik dan lain sebagainya. Dan dalam waktu dekat kita juga akan memproduksi film Intan Kaca, yang mengisahkan asimilasi dua kebudayaan melayu dan tionghoa,’’ terang Eddy RM.

Dilanjutkan Eddy, faktor pendukung lainnya, Riau memiliki banyak penulis skenario yang handal seperti Sudarmo Mahyudin. Selain itu, novel-novel yang dihasilkan dengan tema-tema budaya melayu, seperti Edy Pe Amanriza dan novelis lainya, patut untuk diangkat ke layar lebar. Ini merupakan modal besar bagi Riau, untuk menuju visi misi Riau 2020.(wws)

Guys, If u go a lil bit far outside from the city. You wont find any highway with 4+ lane in SUMATRA.... In my childhood hometown PEKANBARU... The closest town is actually 60 km away .... Imagine that .... !!!

PEKANBARU is actually the place that you can't find any mountain or beaches. The closest tourist spot is actually WEST SUMATRA PROVINCE. yet it is too far, 5 hours drive to get there. That's why some PEKANBARU like to shop here. Although it is small city, but we have some branch of good shop here which usually can be easily found in JAKARTA. That's the reason why SHOPPING CENTRE rises greatly here .. consider this city only got 690 thousand people within this city (absolutely no METRO AREA, the closest town is 60 km away, imagine that)...

PEKANBARU Govt has very good policy to develop shopping centre. Becoz we have shopping centre not just in the middle of downtown but also at the suburb that located 6 km away from downtown ...

I dunno what is the exact reason of PekanB Govt, but they put Grand Zuri Hotel, Mal Pekanbaru, Senapelan Plaza, Hotel Jatra, and Plaza Sukaramai in one coordinated place. I mean the place is closer to each other. But it is okay since it made this place really have skyline. Even some Rukos nearby also have 4-5 stories.

Actually before this mall existed, there is very dirty wet market here. But, right now, this place become very clean. The succesful story of PEKANBARU govt , who can clean this (actually) former UNHELP UNCLEAN AVENUE, led them to get ADIPURA ...

Now, the wet market came under the ground, while over the ground they build PLAZA SUKARAMAI RUKO COMPLEX with RAMAYANA as anchor tenant. This place actually were called PASAR PUSAT (bcoz it really a "pasar" before)....

Officially opened mid 1990s. Some popular tenants:
1. Kwah-kwah Hot Plate
2. RAMAYANA Dept. Store
3. Hop Hop buble drink
4. KENTUCKY FC....

But, mostly di dalamnya adalah toko grosir....

This one is PASAR BAWAH, probably the oldest shopping centre. It is located right on the old PEkanbaru commercial district. Some wooden-constructed Rukos can be seen here. And some Rukos with colonial-shape also can be seen here. Although, due to development of Pekanbaru "nu downtown", this area is not primadona anymore. Ha ha ha..O ya, this area also can be easily get stuck by traffic crowd, if you choose certain time to shop.

But, yet this place still become mother's, sister's, wife's, all ladies favorite....:bash: Becoz it sell clothes, shoes, bag, kitchen appliances, utensils, at wholesale prizes. (Harga grosir gitu ...). Although, it is called as market, It also has basement parking, fully-air conditioned, and of course using escalator ....

PEKANBARU got ADIPURA becoz of this market as the cleanest market in INDOnesia. No pedagang kaki lima (street vendors) here. Parking lot is well organized (although, there is always some ignorant people). Look, this building also has unique malay art style ...

Which Interconnects Pekanbaru as main downtown and Rumbai as area of residential area and also the headquarter of Chevron Pacific Indonesia (PT. CPI). Ini kawasan yang paling sering macet pas jam pulang kerja dan berangkat kerja ... Macetnya cukup gila, tapi gak segila JAKArta. COz, I think if they add more lane and upgrade this street to an avenue, the traffic jam will be gone

Actually the development in Pekanbaru doesnt represent the development for whole Riau province. So, there is some area actually lagging behind... The electricity, infrastructure, and so on.... THere is about 11 Kabupaten and Kota in Riau Province:
1. Kabupaten Kampar (just say it, Pekanbaru Suburb, the rice grananary of the province, but still not enough for Riau province)

2. Kabupaten Bengkalis (rich due to OIL and CPO, rate as the 2nd richest Kabupaten in Indonesia after Kutai Kartanegara)

3. Kabupaten Siak (rich due to OIL abd CPO, one of the richest Kabupaten in Indonesia)

4. Kabupaten Pelalawan (rich due to timber and paper factory)

5. Kabupaten Rokan Hulu (base of PTPN CPO plantation area)

6. Kabupaten Rokan Hilir (rich due to OIL and CPO)

635 sq km (a lil bit JAKARTA size). The development were spreaded and not centralized. It makes, before we can reach another suburb, we will pass the huge empty land... (or maybe a forest, or just sait SAVANA or desert)

The distance between downtown and the suburb area (all of them were located on PEKANBARU territory, just imagine how big PEKANBARU in size is....)

PEKANBARU downtown ----> PANAM (suburb in SOUTHWEST area) : 16 km

PEKANBARU downtown ----> RUMBAI (suburb in NORTHERN area): 12 km... can be more, since RUMBAI development also spread out. THere is a rumour that RUMBAI will become the KOTAMADYA, since it covers half of PEKANBARU size.

PEKANBARU downtown ----> MARPOYAN DAMAI (suburb in SOUTHERN area): 10 km

PEKANBARU downtown ----> the furhtest part of TENAYAN RAYA, TANGKERANG, and KULIM (suburb in the east): 10km

There is one suburb located on KABUPATEN KAMPAR called PANDAU (or SIAK HULU) .... it is 17+ km.

By Ferry:
1. From Melaka, Malaysia (6 hours)
2. From Batam (12 hours++)

By road :
1. Drive from Jakarta (usually takes 1 day)
2. Drive from Medan (usually takes 12 hour)
3. Drive from Padang (usually take 6 hour).....

The closest town: Bangkinang (60 km away from downtown Pekanbaru, or 45 km away from Pekanbaru border...) duration: minimum 40-50 minutes, normal: 1 hour plus....


Please.... pleasee ... please.... PEKANBARU is a business centre of central sumatra. For someone who wants tourist spot, you can go to our neighbour West SUmatra province, by bus..
^^ THE MOST RECOMMENDED to GO WEST SUMATRA....... were Transiting in PEKANBARU.... THe hotmix asphalt road with good view, were the plus, if u take this route.... Even, Dorce Gamalama (famous Indonesian TV host or Presenter) use this route......

Note: the streetlight in PEKANBARU rite now were the replacement of the old one. About 80% has been replaced from the old "ugly" one. It were replaced in 2005. And also, it uses the smaller lamp, but the brighter one. I found that the streetlight in pekanbaru is a lot brighter than Jakarta has.. *bangga mode ON* tapi palingan dalam 2 tahun juga redup lagi... ha ha ha...

So, most of those city were well-planned and designed. Yang kasiannya udah bangun avenue-lebar-lebar, eh yang lewat cuman motor doank... Kalo mo liat kota yang agak rame, sih di DUMAI... DUMAI adalah TJ PRIOKnya provinsi RIAU.

Ooo bukan, biasa polisi lalulintas pekanbaru "bikin ulah" dengan memasang semacam pembatas, so lajur kiri hanya untuk MOTOR atau MOBIL yang memang mau belok ke kiri. Mereka TERPAKSA patuh soalnya udah dikasih pembatas, jadi kalo mo lurus yach... mesti pake lajur tengah atau kanan... masa' mo lurus tapi pake lajur kiri...he he he... Biasa, orang INDONESIA,... Tapi di PEKANBARU orang-orang rada patuh pake sabuk pengaman, helm ganda and motor "HARUS" nyalain lampu di siang hari soalnya di kota ini "kebanyakan" pos polisi...

Sebenarnya beberapa bulan sebelum JAKARTa menetapkan peraturan MOTOR HARUS MENYALAKAN LAMPU di SIANG HARI, PEKANBARU sudah lebih dulu melakukannya. Dan setelah jakarta memberlakukan peraturan baru tersebut, kami sudah mulai dengan peraturan MOTOR HARUS DI SEBELAH KIRI .... :banana:

Tenggarong is not kotamadya, its capital of kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara. Kaltim only have 4 kotamadya as I mentioned before

Wide avenue definitely need to build as soon as possible. Right now maybe only motorcycle but I'm sure another 10-15 years from now it will be full of worth

Dun worry, I'll post a lot of pics of MalSKA... The largest shopping centre in Central Sumatra... Yeah, SKA is a brand new mall. It were softopened in 2005.

Modern Shopping centre:

Note: 1,2,3, were placed very close to each other, makin this area like shopping disctrict.

This one is PEKANBARU busiest junction. The intersection of JALAN SOEKARNO-HATTA and JALAN TUANKU TAMBUSAI.... Now, we are adding more lanes to JALAN SOEKARNO-HATTA (from 2 lanes to 4 lanes)... But, the land clearing process doesnt make new problem with existed building since, the existed building were build a few meters further from road body (ini menyebabkan pelebaran jalan di Pekanbaru jarang menimbulkan masalah)....

MalSKA located on the intersection of JALAN TUANKU TAMBUSAI and JALAN SOEKARNO-HATTA. MalSKA is currently the largest shopping malls in Pekanbaru and also Central Sumatra (Padang, Pekanbaru, Jambi)....

This mall were softopened in 2005. This is the tenant list, compiled by me (not all, as long as I remember lah):

I've answered it.... We are NOT tourist destination, we are INVESTOR or BUSINESSMAN destination. But, If u really want tourist spot ... we have AirTerjun Tujuh Tingkat (how to transtlate this??) in Kabupaten Rokan Hulu and Kuantan Singingi.... We also have some caves and malay cultural festival here, and also Malay Art Exhibition every weekend in Taman Budaya....But, the problem is some place is quite far from Pekanbaru... Like airterjun (waterfall), it is about 180 km away......

PEKANBARU Fun-fact:

12. Please... please please be aware, Pekanbaru is not tourist destination, the closest beach were 200+ km away, and then the closest mountain view were 100+ km away.... Pekanbaru is only good for business and investation,..

Pertumbuhan Perbankan Riau 2006 Dinilai Bagus

Pertumbuhan Perbankan Riau pada tahun 2006 dinilai cukup bagus. Selain Non Performancenya stabil, penyaluran kredit meningkat, jumlah bankpun bertambah.

Riauterkini-PEKANBARU-Kasi Statistik Keuangan dan Ekonomi Moneter Kantor Bank Indonesia Cabang Pekanbaru, Berri Arifsyah kepada Riauterkini rabu (24/1) menyatakan bahwa pertumbuhan perbankan Riau pada skala global relatif bagus. Selain NPL-nya (kredit macet) stabil tidak ada lonjakan tajam, penyaluran kredit meningkat dibandingkan tahun sebelumnya. Selain itu juga terdapat penambahan jumlah bank.

Menurutnya, NPL perbankan Riau tidak ada gejolak. Sejak awal tahun 2006 tercatat NPL berada di level 10 %. dan Pada Desember 2006 tercatat NPL hanya pada level 5 %. Angka tersebut turun jika dibandingkan dengan desember tahun sebelumnya yang mencapai 9 %.

"Untuk penyaluran kredit dinilai cukup bagus. Dalam perhitungan Desember 2005 tercatat penyaluran kredit perbankan Riau hanya Rp 12-an triliun. Namun pada Desember 2006 lalu tercatat penyaluran kredit mencapai lebih dari Rp 13,8 triliun. Ini menunjukkan bahwa perputaran roda ekonomi berjalan cukup bagus," terangnya.

Tingginya penyaluran kredit menurut Berry menggambarkan bahwa iklim usaha cukup bagus di kawasan Riau. Sebab dalam kategori kredit, penyaluran kredit untuk modal kerja dan investasi masih lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kredit konsumtif. Yaitu mencapai hampir Rp 10 triliun.

Di sisi lain, saat ini jumlah bank di Riau mencapai 28 buah setelah Oktober dan Desember lalu berdiri 2 bank baru. Yaitu BTPN dan Bank Sinta. Bahkan jika tidak ada halangan, February atau Maret nanti akan muncul bank asing yaitu Commonwelth. ***(H-we)

^^ it is the new city... It were firstly opened as capital city in mid 1960s... So, everything is well-organized... Peninggalan Belanda??? EHem, apa yach ...?? kok kayaknya hampir gak ada...

Satu lagi, pemerintah kota pekanbaru agak tegas soal IMB (izin mendirikan bangunan)... Ini salah satu yang buat aku salut.. Soalnya pelebaran jalan di PEKANBARU nggak pernah memakan waktu yang panjang dalam pembebasan lahannya, soalnya smua ruko atau rukan mesti dibangun sekian meter dari jalan... Bahkan, ada apartemen 29 tingkat di tengah kota yang ditahan pembangunannya oleh pemkot karena, berada di jalur lintasan pesawat.... Maklum, sebagai basis TNI-AU, langit pekanbaru emang ramai banget oleh pesawat TNI yang latih terbang.. Oom ku beli tanah tanpa IMB dekat airport, dan sekarang dia kebingungan karena IMBnya nggak keluar-keluar ampe hari ini sejak bertahun-tahun yang lalu.. Dan jangan tanya, ada beberapa ruko setengah jadi yang dirobohkan, karena gak punya IMB, sadis banget yach.... Tapi, kalo soal... benda-benda lain .. tenang korupsi masih merajalela...

Ada yang bilang PEKANBARU adalah kota dengan tatakota nomor 2 terbaik di Indonesia setelah JAYAPURA... That is what I've read in newspaper... But, dunno for sure.. Never been Jayapura bro...

BATAM, iya but the shape of road and street were not in STRAIGHT LINE.... But, mostly the development were organized by private sector (for the housing complex). Yet it is still one of the dirtiest city in INDONESIA... Nature were ruined... and lack of PUblic park and greeneries..

I said, economically Batam is far stronger than Pekanbaru. But, the city design and another thing.. PEKANBARU is better (pekanbaru got better and wider pedestrian, drainage, and sewer system, and good garbage management)...

RUMBAI is the home of PT. CPI headquarter... It has started the oil exploration in Riau since 1930-1940s... The first OIL were found in MINAS. 40 minutes from Pekanbaru downtown...

CPI were formerly known as Caltex Pacific Indonesia.. But, now it is called CHEVRON PACIFIC INDONESIA... This company has given many benefits to Riau and Pekanbaru(of course)...

Of course, after exploited Riau natural resource, PT. CPI has to give "something value" to Riau Land.. Some project of PEDESTRIAN OVERPAS were donated by PT. CPI. Even the bridge (we call it LEIGHTON BRIDGE or officially known as JEMBATAN SIAK) that connects PEKANBARU central downtown and RUMBAI were fully donated by PT. CPI. It is officially opened in 1978. PT. CPI also opened PCR (POLITEKNIK CALTEX RIAU) and donated the LANCANG KUNING UNIVERSITY..

Pekanbaru, Senin--Berdasarkan penilaian tahap pertama yang dilakukan oleh Kementrian Lingkungan Hidup (KLH), Kota Pekanbaru berada pada posisi teratas kota terbersih se-Indonesia mengalahkan Padang.

Deputi II Kementrian Lingkungan hidup, Muhammad Gempur Adnan dalam penjelasannya kepada seluruh lurah dan camat se-Pekanbaru, di aula kantor Walikota Pekanbaru, Senin, mengatakan selisih kemenangan antara Kota Pekanbaru dengan Padang cukup tipis yakni 69,45 dan 68,09.

Ia juga mengatakan meski terdapat penurunan angka dari tahun sebelumnya namun secara umum terdapat kenaikan kinerja dalam bidang kebersihan.

Selain itu, staf penilai KLH, Imelda mengatakan untuk sementara tingkat kebersihan pasar di Pekanbaru masih rendah diantaranya adalah Pasar Sukaramai, Pasar Arengka, dan Pasar Simpang Baru, Panam.

Selain pasar beberapa sekolah dan pemukiman di Damai Langgeng juga memperoleh nilai terendah hal itu disebabkan kurang tersedianya tempat pembuangan sampah dan pohon pelindung.

Sementara itu Walikota Pekanbaru Herman Abdullah mengakui masih buruknya kondisi pasar. Untuk itu ia memerintah seluruh satuan kerja terkait untuk kembali bekerja semaksimal mungkin.

"Selama dua tahun berturut-turut Kota Pekanbaru memperoleh piala adipura dari presiden. Bahkan pada tahun 2006 lalu selain memperoleh piala adipura, Pekanbaru juga terpilih sebagai kota besar terbaik dengan kategori the best location," katanya.

In this area (JALAN DIPONEGORO and GAJAH MADA neighborhood), PHONE LINE, ELECTRIC LINE, GAS LINE, all of them were underground installed .... except in some area near hutan kota and the roundabout ...

I always love this JALAN JENDRAL SUDIRMAN, (one of my friends who travel a lot said that this avenue is among the best avenue he has ever passed in INdonesia)

^^ see, I'm a nice passenger taking a seatbelt.... hahaha , no, I'm not .... in Jalan Sudirman we have to use a seatbelt (for car driver) and for motorcycle, you have to wear appropriate helmet .... and also turn on the lights (even during the day) and drive at the left ... So many, police booth with strict policeman in Jalan Sudirman!!!! But, yet still some ignorant people here ... hahahaha... Btw, it was SUnday... only a few policeman btw....

Btw, those place is quite far from both downtown and suburb.... Only busy in certain time such as in the early morning the time when everybody goes to school... And the time when everybody go back home...

JALAN TUANKU TAMBUSAI interconnects Pekanbaru central and Panam (Pekanbaru southwest suburb)...Panam is the location of Riau University (UNRI) main campus.... Even in PANAM, they have their own "2+2" 10 km avenue called JALAN HR. SUBRANTAS... The govt added the new lane to Jalan HR Subrantas in 2005 and the lighting in 2006...


TO go PANAM, there is 3 alternative (padahal dengan traffic yang ada skrang kami sama sekali gak butuh dengan alternatif itu ..) ...

1. By using Jalan Tuanku Tambusai (Outer-Ring-Road)
2. By using Jalan Arifin Ahmad (an avenue) and then using JALAN SUKARNO HATTA (pelebaran jalan in-progress)
3. By using Jalan Adi Sucipto (Indonesian Airforce complex)

^^ Number 2 & 3 route are ended in one very big junction with JALAN HR. SUBRANTAS.. While number 1 is a bypass that directly interconnects with RIAU UNIVERSITY and BUS TERMINAL BANDARAYA PAYUNG SEKAKI (newly opened 2006)

Satu lagi, pemerintah kota pekanbaru agak tegas soal IMB (izin mendirikan bangunan)... Ini salah satu yang buat aku salut.. Soalnya pelebaran jalan di PEKANBARU nggak pernah memakan waktu yang panjang dalam pembebasan lahannya, soalnya smua ruko atau rukan mesti dibangun sekian meter dari jalan... Bahkan, ada apartemen 29 tingkat di tengah kota yang ditahan pembangunannya oleh pemkot karena, berada di jalur lintasan pesawat....

Investor Belum Ajukan Izin Pembangunan Apartemen 28 Lantai

Investor yang bakal membangun apartemen 28 lantai di jalan A Yani belum mengajukan izin pembangunannya ke Distako. Namun walikota Pekanbaru sudah merestui

Riauterkini-PEKANBARU-Kabar bakal dibangunnya apartemen 28 lantai di jalan Ahmad Yani jauh-jauh hari sudah diungkapkan Walikota Pekanbaru Herman Abdullah. Namun ternyata, Dinas Tata Kota belum menerima pengajuan izin pembangunannya.

"Sampai saat ini investor belum ajukan izin. Jadi belum jelas berapa luas lahannya," jelas Kadistako Pekanbaru Idris Sani ketika dikonfirmasi riauterkini Kamis (23/11). Namun Idris mengakui, investor sudah melakukan ekspose di depan walikota dan sudah merestui.

Ketika dipertanyakan, apakah pembangunan apartemen di kawasan tersebut sesuai dengan Rencana Umum Tata Ruang Kota (RUTRK) Pekanbaru, Idris mengaku tidak bertentangan. Tidak ada larangan untuk membangun pemukiman di daerah tersebut.

"Namun bangunan apartemen tersebut hendaknya sejajar dengan bangunan yang sudah ada," tambahnya. Adanya apartemen di A. Yani ditegaskan Idris malah sangat bagus. Karena lokasi berada di tengah kota dan pusat perkantoran, masyarakat yang tinggal disana tidak perlu lagi naik kendaraan untuk sampai ke kantornya.

"Cukup berjalan kaki. Ini akan mengurangi kepadatan lalu lintas," imbuhnya. Selain itu, mahalnya harga tanah di Pekanbaru memicu kebutuhan apartemen bagi masyarakat kota Pekanbaru. Jadi sudah sepantasnya di Pekanbaru dibangun apartemen yang kabarnya mempunyai ketinggian sekitar 90 meter.

Menurut Idris, investor pembangunan apartemen berasal dari Batam, yakni PT. Asia Line. Investor, lanjutnya sudah melakukan studi kelayakan terhadap tempat tersebut. Letaknya, persis di sebelah Restoran Apollo atau Gedung Sucofindo. Namun kapan mulai dibangun, Idris mengaku belum mendapat kepastian.

Sementara itu, informasi penduduk sekitar, sudah ada penawaran harga terhadap lahan mereka. Namun, masyarakat yang enggan disebut namanya tersebut, mengaku belum mengetahui secara pasti apakah penawaran tanah dilakukan oleh investor pembuatan apartemen atau bukan.***(sari)

Pekanbaru Miliki Bus Khusus Wanita

Pekanbaru (ANTARA News) - Pemerintah Kota Pekanbaru meresmikan pemakaian bus kota khsusus perempuan dan keberadaan bus ini pertama di Indonesia, kata Sekretaris Kota Pekanbaru, H. Fawaz Ilyas, Sabtu.

Menurut dia, peluncuran bus khusus untuk kaum perempuan itu diharapkan dapat mengurangi tindak kriminal dan pelecehan terhadap perempuan di dalam bus kota seperti yang kerap terjadi dalam angkutan umum.

Pekanbaru (ANTARA News) - Pemerintah Kota Pekanbaru meresmikan pemakaian bus kota khsusus perempuan dan keberadaan bus ini pertama di Indonesia, kata Sekretaris Kota Pekanbaru, H. Fawaz Ilyas, Sabtu.

Menurut dia, peluncuran bus khusus untuk kaum perempuan itu diharapkan dapat mengurangi tindak kriminal dan pelecehan terhadap perempuan di dalam bus kota seperti yang kerap terjadi dalam angkutan umum.

“Mulai bulan Maret 2007 mendatang, kartu ATM Bank Riau sudah bisa diakses di negeri Jiran Malaysia. Sebelumnya Bank Riau juga sudah menjalin kerjasama dengan Rumah Sakit dan beberapa Hotel di Malaka, yakni dengan menggunakan kartu kredit Bank Riau akan diberikan discount menurut keputusan pihak Rumah Sakit dan Hotel,” terang Zulkifli.

Menurutnya, pengaktifan bagi kartu ATM bank Riau di Malaysia merupakan suatu perkembangan yang baik. Apalagi para nasabah Bank Riau, banyak berpergian ke Malaysia, umumnya mereka melakukan pengecekan kesehatan.

Untuk itulah kartu ATM Bank Riau ini, diaktifkan di Malaysia, agar nasabah lebih mudah melakukan penarikan. Ditambahkan, sedangkan kartu ATM Bank Riau di dalam negeri sudah lama bisa diakses di 30 (tiga puluh) bank yang ada di Indonesia.

1. Waterfront city of Pekanbaru

Covering as wide as 500 meters along the bank of Siak River (about 8 km long) that runs across the city of Pekanbaru. the development of waterfront city covers conservation, revitalization. resettlement, renewal, and upgrading.

Investment opportunities within the waterfront city are:

a. Development of New Town
Structured for undeveloped areas, the projects include:
Creek Town in Tampan district.
Garden City in Tanjung Rhu district.
Pedestrian Oriented Center of Business District (CBD) in Payung Sekaki.
Urban Village in Payung Sekaki
b. Pekanbaru City Center 2020.

Located at Bukit Raya sub-district in an area of 1,550 hectares.
300 hectares of land has been appropriated to be developed for pedestrian oriented CBD in Payung Sekaki.
Feasibility study by P.T. Sier Surabaya (an Industrial Park Developer) resulted in the following findings: Return of Investment 13,9 years. Net present value of 3,667,117,000 and internal rate ratio of 20.04 percent outnumber the cost of capital of 17.37 percent.
Preliminary target of the of the Industrial Park is to accommodate relocation of pollutant-heavy factories that have grown in a significant rate recently, no longer suitable with the city development.
According to a study in 1996, the amount of investment required is 175,389,767,000 rupiahs, not including development of access road.
Land utilization is divided based on the following proportion: - Large-scale industry: 40 units of 5 hectares each.
- Mid-scale industry: 45 units of 3 hectares each.
- Small-scale industry: 900 units of 0,5 hectares each.
- Basic facilities of 310 hectares.
- Open green space area of 155 hectares.

Prospective industries for development: - Packaged food.
- Textile, garment, and leather.
- Lumber and its derivative products.
- Chemical and its derivatives, natural oil, coal, latex, and plastic.
- Non-metal natural resources, including natural oil and coal.


Accessibility of location: - About 14 km from downtown area.
- Situated on the bank of Siak river, facilitating export-import operation.
- Numerous access points available.
3. Development of tourism industry

Potential areas for further exploitation are: Buatan lake in the valley of Sari.


Area of 400 hectares (112 hectares water- covered)
Offered facilities development include restaurant, camping ground, swimming pool, golfing, motel, cottage, bungalow, villa, cabin, and garden-style residence.
4. Loading/ unloading terminal

A city with population growth rate of 4 percent, per capita income of 2,093,721.09 rupiahs per year, and an economy that climbs at 3.4 percent in 2001, Pekanbaru requires a terminal for more than 300 transport vehicles that carry, load, and unload goods on a daily basis. Total amount of investment needed is 35 billion rupiahs.

5. Container terminal

A special container terminal is necessary, considering the fact that Pekanbaru's economy depends on the traffic between the port of Singapore and those in Malaysia.

In its strategic position Pekanbaru sits as a potential feeder port for distribution of export import goods. And with the development of waterfront city, the current existing port needs to be relocated to a designated area of Tenayan Industrial Park.

6. Hotel

As transit point and center of trade and services in eastern Sumatra. Pekanbaru needs the availability of sufficient of hotel services.

At present there are 14 four- to five-star hotels with 871 rooms and 1445 beds. as well as 54 non-category hotels with 1233 rooms and 2259 beds. With occupancy rate above 60 percent, robust economic growth, and expansion of hinterland area. Investment in hotel is verv promising. Total amount of investment required is about 35 billion rupiahs.

Segera Dibentuk Tim Teknis Persiapan Dumai SEZ

Presiden SBY memberikan persetujuan jika Dumai dijadikan Special Economic Zone, untuk menindaklanjuti segera dibentuk tim teknis persiapannya.

Riauterkini-PEKANBARU- Setelah wacana menjadi Dumai sebagai kawasan Free Trade Zone (FTZ) redup dengan sendirinya, kini muncul keinginan agar Dumai menjadi Special Economic Zone atau SEZ, bahkan menurut Gubernur Riau M Rulsi Zainal, Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono secara lisan telah memberikan persetujuan.

Menurut Setdaprov Riau, di pusat telah ada tim teknis yang membahas masalah tersebut. Saat ini ada 8 provinsi yang berpotensi mendapat izin mengembangkan kawasan perekonomian terbatas, salahnya Riau, yakni di Dumai.

Peluang tersebut kemudian ditindaklanjuti di Riau dengan rencana pembentukan tim teknis yang terdiri dari Pemprov Riau dan Pemko Dumai. "Tim teknis ini bertugas melakukan persiapan dan kajian dalam rangka mewujudkan SEZ tersebut," ujar Setdaprov Riau Raja Mambang Mit kepada riauterkini di kantornya, Jumat (16/2).

Persiapan yang dilakukan tim teknis nantinya, meliputi rancangan, konsep dan kesiapan lahan. Untuk lahan, paling tidak dibutuhkan lahan seluas 5.000 hektar. Lahan seluas tersebut berkemungkinan hanya ada di Pelintung, Dumai.

Konsep kawasan ekonomi terbatas, tambah Mambang ada dua jenis, yakni kawasan terbatas yang berada di luar wilayah kepabeanan dan kawasan terbatas yang tetap berada di wilayah kepabeanan. Untuk jenis pertama, yakni kawasan terbatas yang sama sekali tidak ada penduduknya. Sementara kedua, berupa kawasan terbatas, tetapi tetap ada penduduk tinggal di dalamnya.

Untuk Dumai, menurut Mambang Mit, lebih cocok jika diterapkan kawasan jenis pertama, yakni kawasan terbatas yang tidak ada penduduknya. "Dengan demikian, di dalamnya hanya ada kegiatan ekonomi dan seluruh barang yang ada di dalamnya tidak terkena bea cukai," jelasnya.

Selain dari kondisi geografis memungkinkan, kawasan terbatas tanpa penduduk memiliki beberapa keunggulan, seperti kepastian keamanan, kepastian regulasi dan kepastian jangka waktu.

Ketika ditanya kapan tim teknis tersebut dibentuk? Mambang belum bisa memastikan. "Kita berharap bisa secepatnya," demikian penjelasan Mambang Mit.***(mad)

Yeah .... Jalan Nangka has been renamed to JALAN TUANKU TAMBUSAI ... But, Citra Plaza is located on JALAN PEPAYA ... not Jalan Nangka ... Still, the tallest shopping centre ... but not the largest anymore....

MATAHARI now has 3 branches in Pekanbaru .... which are Mal Ciputra Seraya, MalSKA, and CitraPLaza ...

I missed the foods at Pondok Gurih (spelling?) and some Chinese eateries @ Jalan Juandah (spelling?).
Do you happen to have a map of Pekanbaru, especially with the entire stretch of Jln Sudirman?

Pondok Gurihh ... Oh I see, it is a MUST-VISIT restaurant... CHinese eateries... is very delicious here... popularly called PUJASERA... We have some pujaseras in JALAN KUANTAN ... JALAN ARIFIN AHMAD... and some new-pujaseras opened around the city ... PUJASERA is open-air foodcourt.... Since, 2005, There is very popular highclass chinese restaurant here ... called RESTAURANT APOLO ... it is also a must-visit restaurant...

Pekanbaru Miliki Bus Khusus Wanita

Pekanbaru (ANTARA News) - Pemerintah Kota Pekanbaru meresmikan pemakaian bus kota khsusus perempuan dan keberadaan bus ini pertama di Indonesia, kata Sekretaris Kota Pekanbaru, H. Fawaz Ilyas, Sabtu.

Menurut dia, peluncuran bus khusus untuk kaum perempuan itu diharapkan dapat mengurangi tindak kriminal dan pelecehan terhadap perempuan di dalam bus kota seperti yang kerap terjadi dalam angkutan umum.

Selain itu, lanjut dia, kehadiran bus kota tersebut juga memberikan kenyamanan dan keamanan bagi kaum perempuan di Pekanbaru yang bekerja di luar rumah.

"Sekaligus bisa mengoptimalkan fungsi terminal AKAP (Antar Kota Antar Provinsi-Red) Payung Sekaki," ungkap Fawas perihal terminal yang baru diresmikan beberapa bulan lalu itu.


Acara "lounching" bus khusus perempuan ini juga dimeriahkan dengan acara bincang-bincang (talk show) tentang peran bus kota dan keamanan perempuan.

Dalam talk show ini Ketua Ikatan Wanita Pengusaha Indonesia (Iwapi) Riau, Ir Hj Irma Hafidah Rahmah MBA, menyampaikan bahwa angkutan bus kota wanita sangat diharapkan keberadaannya.

"Karena wanita produktif dari golongan bawah di Pekanbaru banyak yang beraktifitas di luar rumah untuk membantu perekonomian rumah tangganya,` ujar Hafidah.

Ia mengatakan wanita produktif dari kelas ekonomi bawah ini banyak mempergunakan jasa angkutan kota menyebabkan mereka menjadi sasaran empuk para pelaku kriminal, dan tindak pelecehan seksual.

Ia menyarankan karena penumpang angkutan umum itu adalah perempuan semua, maka sebaiknya bus tersebut dilengkapi dengan fasiltas alarm dan menempelkan nomor-nomor penting kepolisian. (*)

Ohhh, It is not because of unsafe public transport, but because the new terminal building (called BANDAR RAYA PAYUNG SEKAKI) is located very far from downtown.... So, govt initiatively opened the ladies' bus to guarantee the lady's safety .... to go to the terminal .... TERMINAL INI MENJADIKAN PEKANBARU SEBAGAI (MUNGKIN) SATU2NYA KOTA DI INDONESIA YANG TERMINALNYA LEBIH MEGAH DARI AIRPORTNYA ... Hahaha (nanti aku posting gambarnya yang banyak ....... sangat banyak ....)

Pekanbaru Tawarkan Danau Buatan Dalam IMT GT

Pemerintah Kota Pekanbaru menawarkan bagi negara IMT GT untuk menanamkan investasi di danau Buatan. Sayang, belum ada yang merespon

Riauterkini-PEKANBARU-Dalam Forum IMT GT (Indonesia Malaysia Thailand Growth Triangle) di Thailand minggu lalu, Pemko Pekanbaru menawarkan penanaman investasi di Danau Buatan. Ekspose dilakukan setelah Pemko berhasil membuat Detail Engeneering Design (DED) bersama konsultan akhir tahun lalu.

Walikota Pekanbaru Herman Abdullah yang langsung melakukan ekpose disana kepada wartawan Rabu (21/2) mengungkapkan, biaya untuk pembangunan kawasan wisata danau buatan mencapai $280 juta atau sekitar Rp250 miliar.

"Tawaran untuk investasi di Danau Buatan sudah masuk dalam agenda JBC. Nanti JBC akan mencarikan partner siapa yang akan menanamkan investasi. Apakah swasta atau ADB (Asian Development bank,red)," jelas Herman.

JBC atau Joint Bisnis Council merupakan mitra IMT GT. Untuk pendanaan investasi, mereka biasanya bekerjasama dengan ADB. JBC akan menindaklanjuti tawaran Pemko Pekanbaru untuk mencarikan investor dalam waktu dekat.

Walau demikian, Pemko tidak hanya pasif menunggu investor yang datang. Secara berangsur-angsur, Pemko akan menganggarkan dana untuk pembangunan kawasan wisata Danau Buatan. Walau dalam tahap awal hanya menentukan titik-titik dimana saja bakal dibangun bangunan pendukung kawasan wisata.

"Mulai 2007 ini, atau paling lambat 2008, kita mulai berangsur-angsur anggaran. KIta buat titik-titik untuk bangunan yang sudah ditentuan. Bangunan apa disini, bangunan apa di sebelah sana," ungkapnya.

Selain mengganggarkannya melalui APBD, Pemko juga berencana meminta bantuan dana dari APBD Riau. Karena wisata di Danau Buatan tersebut nantinya juga bakal dinikmati oleh seluruh masyarakat Riau.

Sementara itu, Direktur Operasional PD Pembangunan M Ridwan ditempat berbeda menambahkan, ekpose yang dilakukan Pemko Pekanbaru merupakan lanjutan dari ekspose yang pernah dilakukan sebelumnya. Pemko memberi kesempatan kepada negara Malaysia dan Thailand serta ienvestor dari Indonesia sendiri untuk membangunan kawasan wisata Danau Buatan.

"Pemko mempunyai lahan 10 hektar di daerah tersebut yang siap untuk dikembangkan. Pastinya banyak keuntungan bagi investor yang menanamkan investasi disana," ujarnya berpromosi.***(sari)

Pada tahun 2007 ini Provinsi Riau bakal menjadi produsen ikan patin kaleng pertama di Indonesia. Upaya mencapai ini telah dimulai sejak tahun 2004 lalu dengan mendirikan pabrik pengalengan ikan patin di Kabupaten Kampar. Hasilnya, ikan sarden ala Patin ini memiliki ketahanan hingga 1,5 tahun.

Dengan demikian pengalengan ikan Patin ini secara teknis sudah berhasil. Mengingat sudah diuji cobakan selama 1,5 tahun dan ternyata ikan yang sudah dikalengkan sejak tahun 2004-2005 lalu hingga saat ini masih bagus. Diperkirakan masih bisa tahan hingga 2 tahun.

“Saat ini tinggal izinnya dari Departemen Kesehatan kemudian dari Majelis Ulama Indonesia tentang kehalalannya. Juga hak patennya, disamping hal lainnya. Itu akan kita laksanakan pada tahun 2007 ini dan diharapkan pada tahun ini juga bisa kita dapatkan izin-izin prinsip tersebut dan sudah bisa diproduksi,” ucap Prof Dr Ir T Dahril MSc Kepala Dinas Perikanan dan Kelautan Provinsi Riau, Senin (19/2) kepada wartawan di Hotel Dyan Graha Pekanbaru.

Ini imbuhnya, Riau akan menjadi provinsi satu-satunya di Indonesia yang memproduksi ikan air tawar. Pada umumnya yang dikalengkan adalah ikan air laut, bukan air tawar. Selain itu dalam rangka membangun sector perikanan dan kelautan di Riau pada tahun ini juga akan dilakukan penjajakan kerjasama antara Pemerintah Provinsi Riau dengan PT Boniform untuk membangun pabrik pengolahan villet ikan Patin dan ikan lainnya untuk tujuan ekspor.

Rencananya hasil pabrik ini akan diekspor ke Amerika dan Eropa hingga ke Timur Tengah. Saat ini sedang dilakukan pembicaraan antara Gubri HM Rusli Zainal SE dengan pihak PT Boniform dan dalam waktu dekat ini akan ditandatangani MoU-nya, sehingga pada tahun 2007 ini sudah bisa dibangun pabrik tersebut. Btw, JALAN KUANTAN is famous for its FRIED BANANA ... (call it PISANG GORENG, so crispy yummy...) and of course the open-air foodcourt called pujasera ..

^^ hahaha you are so right. Was surprised to learn that the famous goreng pisang is still around. To date, it is still *the* best I have ever tasted. And its fan-shaped look after deep-fried can never be found anywhere on Earth. emengnya enak sekali!!! :lol:

At the end of Jalan Kuantan Raya, there is a small Medan noodle shop on the left hand side also very delicious. Their home-made plum juice drink is to-die-for!!! It makes me hungry now after talking so much abt good foods in PekanBaru.

^^ hahaha you are so right. Was surprised to learn that the famous goreng pisang is still around. To date, it is still *the* best I have ever tasted. And its fan-shaped look after deep-fried can never be found anywhere on Earth. emengnya enak sekali!!! :lol:

At the end of Jalan Kuantan Raya, there is a small Medan noodle shop on the left hand side also very delicious. Their home-made plum juice drink is to-die-for!!! It makes me hungry now after talking so much abt good foods in PekanBaru.

PEKANBARU changed so much ... Before 2002, it was the dirtiest city in INDONESIA ... since 2003 PEKANBARU has been one of the cleanest city in INDONESIA... ANd last 2006 PEKANBARU was the no.1 cleanest city in INDONESIA.... Very proud with such predicate... although SIak River still same like the way before... But, the govt now tries to elaborate the riverbend housing with the surroundings...

THe development of PEKANBARU just happened in 2003-2006 (we add 3 new malls, and relocates 1 big traditional market ... and succesfully move out the streetvendors in PASAR BAWAH (now it has been one of the cleanest traditional market in INDONESIA).. ... and we also added 3 "4-star" hotels and 2 "3-star" hotels....) TV stations has grew from just 4 in 2002, but since 2005 we have 10 TV stations aired in PEKANBARU .... Just call it MEGA-BOOM in small city... ANd apartments, and also the construction of some Govt building will add something nice to the skyline... Btw, now we expand the airport apron and add more terminal building, although it is small but it is the 2nd busiest airport in SUMATRA mainland... Yet, PEKANBARU will relocate its airport before 2020...

To be honest, PEKANBARU skyline is lacking ... the tallest building currently just a hotel with more than 10 stories I guess... The 2nd tallest is the office building which is 10 stories ...Only some of them are well-clustered... the rest are too spreaded ..

^^ Actually at the downtown we have two parks .... first one is TAMAN KOTA and the 2nd one is HUTAN KOTA.... the 3rd one ...is the latest... in MASJID AGUNG AN-NUR.. but the trees still so small....

And one "the very large" in TENAYAN RAYA (Pekanbaru eastern suburb) ... and also "the very large" in RUMBAI (Pekanbaru northern suburb)... will post you the summary for the next week..

As for the cleanliness of PekanBaru in late 90's, I won't actually call the place dirty. I only find the whole town very very sandy. I saw sand, literally, everywhere .. even on tarred roads. But from those pictures that you've posted, it has definitely improved over the recent years.

Nope.... it is JALAN GATOT SUBROTO.... to go JALAN KUANTAN you have to go straight and entering PINTU ANGIN residential area ... then, you'll find JALAN KUANTAN ... preety easy to find it from the pics place...

I dun really remember the old restaurant... hahaha .... When APOLO restaurant were still small, I never went to APOLO btw.... Coz, we have to reserve a table before having the dinner ... hehehe...

But, when it was relocated to JALAN A.YANI.... that was my 1st time in that restaurant.... although .. now, they've got more fans to dine (and somehow, still hard to reserve a table to dine on week-end)... hehehe ...

Actually APOLO is the best chinese restaurant in PEKANBARU ... and also one of the best restaurant in PEKANBARU (beside the RIVER FISH restaurant and some open-air foodcourt which is also taste great to me.... )

err.. There weren't many good restaurants in the late 90's. So we happened to dine there quite frequently over a span of 3years. I am very sure that the old Apollo is on the left side of abt 100-200m down Jln Gatot Subroto if you entered via Jln Sudirman. ;)

Opposite the old Apollo restaurant, which was on the Southern side of the road (as u have mentioned), there is a nice nasi padang stall but ain't sure if they are still around now. :)

SariBunda and Anom are still around ... But, never heard JUMBO btw... But, I guess the most delicious restaurant in JALAN JUANDA is the "chicken porridge stall..." ... I really loves it, although it is quite expensive for "the regular" chicken porridge price... It is Rp 10,000 ... (today's price) ...

I've seen those blogs before... now we have some new restaurant (the must visit-one)
1. Restaurant Sri-Mersing ( really nice local Malay cuisine, the special menu is Lengkitang, it is a river-snail ... (remember French cuisine, Escargot...????)

Yepp, this hotel (the 4-star one) is opened in 1998 ...It is HOTEL ARYADUTA ..located in JALAN DIPONEGORO really close with TAMAN KOTA (City park) and HUTAN KOTa (inner-city forrest) ... really nice neighborhood... although, it is really surrounded by nice pedestrian to do very exciting jogging... this hotel also has its own JOGGING TRACk at the back of the building .. with tennis court, basketball, and some facility ..

I was about to ask you to post a few pictures of all the hotels in Pekanbaru and there you are almost done.
I have seen
- Hotel Furaya which is almost at the end of Sudirman.
- Hotel Aryaduta - last time, over weekends we used to go there to savor their Hainanese chicken rice but quite expensive I must say.
- There is a big hotel immediately across the Siak River on the left hand side but I can't remember its name.
- Hotel Zahid - the foto for this one still not available. :)

BTW, where is Golden Thai located?

ibis is a budget hotel managed and owned by the famous Accor group. 2 ibis were opened in Bangkok last year. Glad they have it in Pekanbaru too.

I was about to ask you to post a few pictures of all the hotels in Pekanbaru and there you are almost done.
I have seen
- Hotel Furaya which is almost at the end of Sudirman.
- Hotel Aryaduta - last time, over weekends we used to go there to savor their Hainanese chicken rice but quite expensive I must say.
- There is a big hotel immediately across the Siak River on the left hand side but I can't remember its name.
- Hotel Zahid - the foto for this one still not available. :)

BTW, where is Golden Thai located?

This hotel brings me back fond memories because during my time, there is only 1 big public swimming pool in PekanBaru which was usually quite dirty. So I prefer to have a dip at the new pool @ Hotel Sahid which was just open then. Sometimes I would bring along my neighbor's kids too.

The govt just finished the development 4 elementary school (SD) building in PEKANBARU... Riau govt is kinda education oriented ... that's why around 20-25% of our fund allocation (APBD) goes to EDUCATIOn, while 50% goes to infrastructure ....

Maskapai penerbangan milik Pemprov Riau PT. Riau Airlines (RAL) terus menunjukkan perkembangan positif. Pada 2006 silam berhasil meraih keuntungan Rp 2,1 miliar.

Riauterkini-PEKANBARU- Perkembangan positif terus diperlihatkan PT. Riau Airlines (RAL). Selain terus mendapat kepercayaan dari pengguna transportasi udara, maskapai penerbangan milik Pemprov Riau tersebut berhasil mencatatkan laba sebesar Rp 2,1 miliar hasil operasi selama 2006.

"Hasil tutup buku pada tahun 2006 lalu, kita berhasil mencatatkan keuntungan sebesar Rp 2,1 miliar dari hasil operasi selama setahun," ujar Dirut RAK Heru Nurhayadi kepada riauterkini di Pekanbaru, Jumat (2/3).

Perkembangan positif tersebut tak lepas dari banyaknya upaya yang dilakukan pihak RAL dalam meningkatkan pelayanan transportasi udara. Kini RAL dengan 5 pesawat mampu melayani rute penerbangan di seluruh Sumatare. Mulai dari Aceh sampai Bandar Lampung. Bahkan juga sampai ke Kepulauan Riau dan Provinsi Bangka Belitung.

Meskipun telah mendapatkan keuntungan, namun menegemen RAL tetap terus mengupayakan perkembangan maskapai ini. Banyak program akan dijalankan dalam waktu dekat, antara lain rencana penyewaan dua pesawat Boeing. "Kalau disetujui, pesawat ini akan melayani rute Jakarta-Pekanbaru. Rute ini tergolong paling gemuk," jelasnya.

Untuk mewujudkan rencana tersebut, RAL memerlukan sokongan dana sebesar Rp 85 miliar dari APBD Riau. Rencana tersebtu mulai dibicarakan dengan DPRD Riau, khususnya dengan Komisi B.

Heru menegaskan, pentingnya keberadaan dua pesawat Boeing tersebut, mengingat selama ini ada 1.700 penumpang dengan tujuan Jakarta dari Pekanbaru. "Kalau kita mampu terbang ke Jakarta paling sering dan paling cepat serta pulang dari Jakarta paling lambat, pasti kita bisa bersaing dengan maskapai penerbangan yang ada," demikian keyakinan Heru.***(mad)

Btw, around this river you'll see so many container port (dermaga petikemas)... one of the busiest river in INDONESIA lah ...

Btw, they made low height of bridge coz, they want to stop the environmental damage caused by large-sized ships (such as tanker)..

Btw, SIAK regency govt and Pekanbaru city govt has had a cold war due to this height issue..., since govt has prepared some ports in the mouth of river... such as BENGKALIS, BUTON, DUMAI .... fiuhh.. but those place still all the way too far from PEKANBARU. Even, to reach dumai will spend you 4-5 hours ++++

RAL Menangi Kontrak Transportasi Udara Pemprov NAD

Sebuah kepercayaan kembali didapat PT. Riau Airlines (RAL). Kali ini datang dari Pemprov Nangro Aceh Darussalam (NAD). RAL Dipercayaan tangani kontrak transportasi udara bersubsidi.

Riauterkini-PEKANBARU- Kontrak transportasi udara bersubsidi Pemprov Nangro Aceh Darussalam (NAD) menjadi milik PT. Riau Airlines (RAL), setelah maskapai penerbangan milik Pemprov Riau tersebut memenangi lelang tender yang diadakan beberapa waktu lalu. Dengan demikian, dalam waktu dekat RAL akan menerbangi seluruh penjuru Sumatera, mulai dari Lampung Aceh.

"Kita berhasil mengalahkan sejumlah perusahaan penerbangan lainnya dalam lelang tersebut," ujar Dirut RAL Heru Nurhayadi kepada riauterkini akhir pekan silam.

Dijelaskan Heru, nilai kontrak dalam proyek tersebut sebesar Rp 9,4 miliar.Keberhasilan tersebut telah dilaporkan RAL secara resmi kepada Pemprov Riau, ketika itu laporan diterima Setdaprov Riau Raja Mambang Mit, mewakili Gubernur Riau M Rusli Zainal.

Dalam kontrak yang dimenangi tersebut, RAL berkewajiban melayani penerbangan bersubsidi ke sejumlah kota di NAD. Karena sifatnya bersubsidi, RAL tidak akan mengambil keuntungan dari penjualan tiket, melainkan berasal dari nilai kontrak yang telah dimenangi.***(mad)

PEKANBARU (RiauInfo) - Gempa bumi yang menewaskan lebih 80 orang di Sumatera Barat Selasa (6/3) kemaren, telah membuat sejumlah warga asal Sumbar di Pekanbaru gelisah. Pasalnya sebagian mereka ada yang kesulitan menghubungi keluarganya melalui telepon ataupun HP.

Bahkan sampai Rabu pagi (7/3) sejumlah warga asal Batusangkar, Sumbar, masih belum bisa melakukan kontak dengan keluarganya di Batusangkar. Mereka belum dapat kabar apakah keluarga baik-baik saja atau menjadi korban gempa.

Efizon, salah seorang warga asal Batusangkar mengaku telah berulang-ulang menghubungan keluarganya melalui HP. "Tapi sampai sekarang hubungan telepon ke sana masih belum menyambung," ujarnya.

Karena itu dia punya rencana untuk segera berangkat ke Batusangkar Rabu siang (7/3) ini untuk melihat kondisi ayahnya di sana. "Kalau hubungan tidak menyambung juga, saya akan berangkat hari ini ke Batusangkar," ungkapnya.

Hal yang sama juga disampaikan Teguh yang keluarga istrinya berada di Batusangkar. Dia sudah berulang-ulang kali menelpon lewat HP ke Batusangkar. Namun sampai pagi ini belum juga bisa menyambung.

"Istri saya di rumah menangis tak henti-hentinya, memikirkan ayah dan ibu serta adik-adiknya di Batusangkar," ungkap dia lagi. Menurut rencana hari ini, Teguh dan istrinya akan berangkat dengan menggunakan sepedamotor ke Batusangkar.

Menurut dia, dalam kondisi sekarang menggunakan sepedamotor lebih aman. Karena diyakininya pasti akibat gempa banyak jalan yang tehalang longsor ataupun puing-puing bangunan yang runtuh.(Ad)

PEKANBARU (RiauInfo) - Gempa yang melanda kota Pekanbaru Selasa (6/3) sekitar pukul 10.55 Wib telah membuat para pengunjung dan pemilik toko di sejumlah pusa-pusat perbelanjaan di Pekanbaru berhamburan keluar.

Seperti yang terjadi di Pasar Bawah Pekanbaru, ratusan pembeli dan pedagang saling berdesak-desakan keluar dari gedung pasar wisata tersebut. Sebagian pembelinya ada yang terlihat panik, sehingga tidak sadar lagi bahwa dia berdiri di tengah jalan.

Sebagian dari pengunjuung pasar bawah itu berasal dari luar kota. Mereka mengaku baru pertama kali ini merasakan goncangan gempa. "Saya baru kali ini merasakan gempa," ujar Rasman (44) pengunjung asal Tuban, Jawa Timur.

Dia menjelaskan saat terjadi gempa, dia berada di lantai 3 pasar tersebut. Goncangan gempa memang sangat dirasakannya, tapi karena baru pertama kali merasakannya, dia tidak sadar bahwa itu gempa.

"Saya baru tahu goncangan itu gempa setelah melihat banyak orang berlarian turun ke bawah dan bergegas meninggalkan gedung," ujarnya. Melihat itu, diapun ikutan berlarian keluar dari gedung Pasar Bawah yang terdiri dari 4 lantai itu.

Kepanikan yang sama juga terjadi di pusat perbelanjaan lainnya. Misalnya di Mal Pekanbaru, ratusan orang terlihat berlarian keluar mal tersebut saat gempa menggoyang kota Pekanbaru.

Hal yang juga juga terjadi di Senapelan Plaza, Mal SKA, Mal Ciputra, dan beberapa pusat perbelanjaan lainnya. Bahkan di Citra Plasa, akibat pengunjung berdesak-desakan menggunakan eskalator, beberapa diantranya cidera.(Ad)

Foto-foto gedung identitas PEKANBARU, ada lengkap database nya tapi yang namanya kartu truf, itu dikeluarinnya belakangan, termasuk foto-foto U/C project.... hehehe

Bener banget, PEKANBARU sentris.... Tapi Sebenarnya nggak terlalu juga sih... Pemerintah kota Pekanbaru memang giat kok, berbanding pemerintah Kabupaten (yang PR-nya jauh lebih banyak mulai dari Kemiskinan and infrastruktur) proyek-proyek jembatan baru itu hampir semua dibangun di kabupaten2, trus pemberian beasiswa S2 dan S3 ke luar negeri diprioritaskan untuk orang-orang luar Pekanbaru .... JAdi kalo pembangunan dari segi SDM sudah mulai berjalan. Tapi INFRASTRUKTUR memang agak lambat, luas provinsi RIAU aja sekitar 100,000 sq km. Sementara, (dulu) untuk ke ibukota kabupaten Tembilahan, kita harus naik speedboat dan dsb.. But, skrg udah ada jalan ke sana yang untuk menghubungkannya butuh dana yang besar karena kawasan berawa-rawa... ntah berapa puluh jembatan telah dibangun untuk membuka jalur ke Tembilahan.... Kalo Kabupaten kaya sih, nggak usah dipikirin, mereka juga membangun pake duit sendiri seperti Bengkalis and SIak...;

Aku turut prihatin dengan kejadian di Mandau, Pemerintah provinsi ampe geleng-geleng kepala.... akhirnya ya udah deh.... diserahin ama pusat....

^^ Ehh, tapi kalo untuk ruas jalan Lintas TIMUR and TENGAH .... Propinsi RIAU tergolong yang termulus loh .... dari provinsi lain....

jalan Pekanbaru-Tembilahan (pake roda 4) sekarang bisa ditempuh 6 Jam... dulu bias ampe 8-9 jam karena jalan di Pangkalan Kerinci ama perbatasan Inhu-Inhil bnyk yg jelek... sekarang.... udah lumayan... di INHU,jalan provinsinya udah SMOOTH abeezz.... (Pekanbaru-Pangkalan Kerinci-Sorek-Rengat- The Gorgeous Tempuling Bridge-Tembilahan)... kecuali di bbrp spot agak kurang bagus... kyk di pelalawan.. tp paling cuma 4-5 KM.. pdhl tahun 2005 masih parah banget

trus jalur Pekanbaru-Padang (Lintas tengah) juga udah Smooth abiss.. (apaan sih kerja gw.. jalan" molo keliling sumatera!!!)....

ngliat daerah Riau ama Sumbar... kita bakal tahu kita lg ada di mana.. walopun nyasar.. abis'a gedung'a etnik banget.... moga" ntar (the next) Riau Int'l Airport nya gak ninggalin status kultur di riau ya...

soal'a denger" (the Next) Kuala Namu In'tl Airport desainnya modern abis..pdhl kan di sana ada 7-8 etnis asli.. (kenapa gak di Fusion aja ya...)

^^ Hehehe, yang paling GORGEOUS udah bukan TEMPULING bridge lagi..... tapi SIAK SRI INDRAPURA bridge yang sudah tersambung bulan Februari kemarin dan akan diresmikan presiden (atau wapres) pada sekitar bulan MEI... Silahkan surf ke HALAMAN 12 thread ini ada foto2nya ...lengkap dengan BEFORE and AFTER nya ...:D:D:D

Terlambat, PERPUSTAKAAN DAERAH RIAU (yang sekarang sedang U/C) disainnya akan fully futuristic...... Trus, RIAU SPORT HALL yang baru jadi juga udah futuristik..... Tapi, aku salut ma FK-UNRI yang terlihat futuristik dan tradisional di saat yang bersamaan.... :D:D:D
