View Full Version : TV Towers in Greece MikeTheGreek January 21st, 2007, 01:57 AM I kwon there are many tv tower but are there any tall?Post photos of towers near you and how tall do you think they are! skylinearth January 23rd, 2007, 06:38 PM OTE Tower is a TV tower at Thessaloniki, Greece. OTE Tower is located inside the Thessaloniki International Trade Fair in central Thessaloniki, and is one of the biggest of its kind in Europe. The first black and white broadcasts of the Greek State Television took place from this building in 1966. OTE tower has a revolving restaurant in its top. The tower first openend in 1966 and was totally renovated, transforming it into a modern tower, in 2005. It's height is around 90m. http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/1778/27916888929414b46dfbcn4.jpg http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/8155/2410753tp9rc.jpg MikeTheGreek January 23rd, 2007, 10:43 PM Nice man!But ote tower is not a tv signal broadcaster anymore! kostya January 24th, 2007, 03:32 PM Who cares :D . We still got the best tower  gm2263 January 25th, 2007, 09:59 AM That is true guys. Imagine, this beauty was built 40 years ago (and renovated recently). kostya January 25th, 2007, 10:32 AM It shows that many years back some people were actually interested about how their city looked like ! It was an emblematic structure no matter how -maybe- small it looks today. Today I think we need to develop again a nice financial center (we were good at it some 100 years ago ;) ) to the east and to the west of the city. Pylaia for example is there waiting :D. MikeTheGreek January 25th, 2007, 12:11 PM I think you should demolish OTE Tower and built a 150m replica. kostya January 25th, 2007, 12:26 PM Uh, you started it good but in the end μας το χάλασες :-) . A replica is a replica no matter how good it is. After all, we're in the 21st centure, not in the 60's anymore, we need something else. I've said before i'd like to see a small highrise cluster in the place of the current exchibition center location. |
