One is needed without a doubt. I have played Ice Hockey my whole life, and when I recently moved to Greece this summer I had a hard time dealing with the fact that there werre no Ice-Rinks.

I have spoken with Dimitris Kalyvas(Captain of the Greek National Ice Hockey team) a few times and he has really done great things to get an ice rink back into Greece.

I have heard that one will be built soon, and Maroussi is a possible location.

Why don't you fund one yourself? It appears to have some demand...

I am suprised with this information. I had no idea that there was no any ice ring in a sport city like Athens. I guess there is not any interest in winter sports in a sportive meaning (not as the hobby of some rich guys)

I actually skated in the only "hockey rink" in Greece about 10 years ago. It was about 2/3 the size of an NHL rink and it was a 10 minute walk from my home in Moschato.

Having played organized hockey since the age of 6, the locals who saw me skating thought I was a god! hahahaha...

I actually know one of the players on the team as he is dating my cousin in Greece. He is currentluy in year two if his army duties....

It's gonna take some rich diaspora Greek to build one because I don't see the government helping with this.

They should petition Nick Kypreos and Chris Chelios to help them.

Guys my family own a 14 stremata lot in Pylea Thessaloniki .How much money is needed to built the arena? My father could fund the project ( or part of the project) and become the sponsor of the national team for a 10-20 years time. And will have the naming rights of the arena.

But about howmuch money are we talking?

:) It may not be good enough for our new rink but we could place something like this in someones backyard :)

It would be a good start. For only $330
