Morocco: an astounding variety of beaches


On the Mediterranean sea and Atlantic ocean , the Moroccan coastline is 3.500 kilometres long. In this land of two seas, the variety of beaches is infinite. The most popular beaches are naturally found next to towns, especially on the Atlantic coast. But there are hundreds others in unspoilt places where nature has remained intact. All offer great bathing or water sports possibilities.

On the Atlantic , most beaches are long strips of fine sand that face the ocean’s waves. They of course become hotter as you head south. The north-east trade wind regularly blows from late March to mid-September on this part of the coast. It is ideal for all surfing sports. Whether you love windsurfing, kite surf, surfing or jet ski, you are bound to find the waves you are looking for.

On the craggier coastline of the Mediterranean , between Tangiers and Al Hoceima, beaches are more intimate. The sea is also calmer. There you will enjoy superb weather conditions on sparsely populated beaches. Some are close to traditional fishing villages, nestling in beautiful natural settings, ideal for relaxing in the peaceful waves, far from the agitation of city life.

I think it was time that Morocco created jobs by valuing this asset, especially that beach tourism is in high demand and central to the policies of most top tourist destinations in the Mediterranean (Spain, Greece, Turkey).

This is an amazing coast line. It looks ultimately pristine. You can tell it is the mediterranean by the blue color of the ocean.

There are a lot of marvelous and virgin beaches in the south of Tangier along the Atlantic coast, but unfortunatly I heared that a qtari group is going to develop a resort there...

you folks who don't know Saidia beach gotta think twice when you talk about beaches and forget to mention the pearly beach of Saidia ! it's almosqt 10 miles of sandy shores, millions of people from Morocco, immigrants and even spanish come to visit it and they like it very much especially spanish who know what a warm sandy beach could get you when fairly exploited !too bad Moroccans don't really know how precious and golden this beach is ! Agadir's beaches are nothing compared to the mediterranean Saidia, now at Mediterranea Saidia where fancy resorts are being built all the houses and chelets are sold out at a colossal price, unless a tsunami hits, they'll never regret it ! :)

you're being modest! beaches in Turkey are ruined by tourists, hotels, people etc... That's why I never take vacation in Mediterranean Turkey.Always crowded , noisy and too touristy.Blacksea coast is just the opposite tho.Nature and climate is perfect in summers although water is kinda colder than south coasts but it shouldn't be problem if you don't mind cold water.Fortunately, greedy tourism investors do not waste money on Blacksea (Yet!)

Well I've never been there , I visited only the region of Istanbul and I loved it :)
But I agree with you,the Problem With Tourism is that it is run by an industry far more concerned with short term , plus the money tourists bring into the area probably never leaves the hotel complex, and we can already see that in Marrakech and I'm affraid that other cities and small coatal villages will start facing this problem too, specially after that Dubaimania touched Morocco

oui , sur la cote de rabat - temara - skhirate - bouznika , il ya beaucoup de résidences touristiques , des villas, des hotels , un casino , nightclubs etc......:cheers: et avec la cote de mohammadia, je croie k'il reste juste quelque 15 km qui sont libre et de l'autre coté entre salé et kenitra ya de trés bonnes plages aussi :banana:, je croie que dans les quelques années a venir ca va devenir une seule et longue cote de kenitra jusqu'a casa :lol:

je ne savais pas qu'il avait pas des belles plage entre sale et kenitra
je pensais que c'etait toujour a rabat/ temara /skhirat etc ... mais c'est bien de voir tout ca sur cette cote esperons qui vont aussi construire des bonnes routes et infrastructures . il y aussi des grand projects que mon ami m'a dit entre mohammedia et bousnika bay
tu sais quand j'etais petit au maroc il y avait RIEN dans cette cote apart bousnika qui etait juste un petit village avec des cabonons meme temara etait une petite ville mais maintenant ca beaucoup changer je vois google earth quelle difference

entre salé et kenitra ya la plage des nations trés connue chez les surfeurs avec un hotel et il ya la plage sidi boughaba une gigantesque plage un sable d'or de grosses vagues atlantic et derriére il ya une foret bref un style du carraibe et d'un coté ya des dunes de sable ,ensuite du coté de kenitra ya les plages de la cote de mahdia trés connue aussi
wé le maroc a bcp changé ces 9 dérnierres années et a nous l'avenir :cheers:

Non,on ne sert pas que l'alcool ,du moment qu'on paye 200 et + tu tomberas pas sur la3roubiya ,la crème des casawis est la bas à part quelques exeptions,la mer n'est pas sale c'est une plage privée;)

the east side is a different story it is very dirty but east mohamedia is also very clean

All private beaches are officially open ,my cousin told me that yesterday,he went to Dar Bouazza:)

Really nice private beach i was in there last sunday drank 3 bottles of Red wine with some friends i`m always having a great time in Babaloo:D

Dis moi est-ce que l'entrée est gratuite ou bien 200 Dhs ? Were there some dancers ? :D

L`entree est gratuite ,sauf quand il y`a une certaine affluence ,faut donner au videur 200 ou 300 balles pour esperer entrer ^^,apres tu paies ta consommation au bar^^ ,les danseuses sont souvent presentes,they`re damn sexy:tongue2:
