View Full Version : Welcome to the new forum!
Jasonhouse January 26th, 2007, 07:32 AM As people can see, it isn't a big deal... all that happens is that Balt and DC threads are now here, not mixed in with the other NE&MA threads... Though the cities are "together", people can quite easily keep to their own city's threads if they so desire... Just please do not troll threads of the other town if that is the case, and there won't be a problem.
However, there is one significant change here... It is now greatly encouraged that folks keep it to one topic per thread, as is the norm for a forum... before, we were using one mega-thread to house many topics... now the forum itself does that, freeing members to pursue more topics and pursue them more in depth.
As is the case in other metro forums, in time we can and will add other components (like subforums and special sticky threads) as they seem appropriate... and in time, we will appoint a mod here to keep an eye on things.
StevenW January 26th, 2007, 11:44 AM ^^ Thank you. :)
wada_guy January 26th, 2007, 02:31 PM Thank you. I know you worked hard on this and it is appreciated.
Out of curisoity, why did you leave the Maryland Development thread in the NE section? We are a tiny state.
PeterSmith January 26th, 2007, 03:49 PM Thanks, Jason. I think this will work out for the best.
Brian21 January 26th, 2007, 04:15 PM ^^I agree:)
Silver Springer January 26th, 2007, 04:35 PM Hooray!!!!1!!!!!1!!!! Looks good!
BalWash January 26th, 2007, 07:57 PM This is awesome...THANKS!!!!!!!!!
Okay, so I was thinking we may want to greater subdivide threads. Perhaps a Baltimore-Washington Economic News Thread? Or should each city have its own news thread? Should NoVa and MoCo/PG get their own development threads? How can we go about posting photos in a more organized fashion? Should threads about sports teams be split up by sports team, city or just all lumped in together.

I believe the Maryland Development News thread was left in the Northeast section because it will basically entail areas outside of Baltimore and Washington: Ocean City, Salisbury, Hagerstown, etc. This is to encourage B/W forumers to continue visiting the Northeast section.
For areas outside of Baltimore and Washington and not Silver Spring (so Annapolis, Bowie, Columbia, etc), I think you are welcome to make individual Development News threads for these cities. Jasonhouse will clear this up, since I am not in a position to make decisions in here.
Jasonhouse January 26th, 2007, 10:18 PM Anywhere within the US gov's definition for the B/DC CMSA is acceptable to discuss here... Generally, you would want to discuss areas outside of that region in the appropriate forum elsewhere on NASF...However, folks can basically talk about anyplace else, so long as it is centric to the B/DC metro.
Ultimately, I would expect there to be a development news thread for more of the urban nodes in the region... Places like Tyson's Corner, Rosslyn, Bethesda, etc, etc... There are also some other thread types that I may introduce that currently do not exist on NASF... I'm not yet sure what we'll try yet though...
The most important thing to remember is to try and keep it to one topic per thread, don't rant at your fellow members, and things will be fine.
Furiine January 27th, 2007, 12:17 AM I assume Annapolis news would be appropriate as well, seeing as how its one of the closest towns to either of those cities?
fanofterps January 27th, 2007, 02:56 AM I got anxiety because I thought Baltimore and DC would be mixed.

Anyways...how come we don't see the Baltimore / Washington DC name on the front page of Skyscrapercity?
Jasonhouse January 27th, 2007, 06:39 AM because I only have so much time each night between when the forum slows down enough that I can start messing with it while it's running, and my bed time... So I added it tonight.
micrip January 27th, 2007, 09:01 PM Cool...I see it's there today!!!
