burjdubai91 November 25th, 2009, 02:00 AM this is by far the most beautiful tower in the world's tallest block... very streamlined and simple... only the infinity tower can compete...

Dan Hochhaus December 4th, 2009, 01:55 PM 30/November/2009 by 234sale:
the view from The Torch reveals that the floors have closed in on the core's top.
The upper level is taller than those below and should be technical, I think.
Now the crown will intensify the curve to the left.

Dan Hochhaus December 19th, 2009, 03:07 AM The Ocean Heights roof section is pretty complicated... advanced geometry!
Looks a bit odd now with these sudden changes from floor to floor and with that now uncovered irregular concrete cubus, but surely this will look much more appealing when cladded, like the rest of the building.
Btw. there's an oversize level on top now, I guess this is technical area. A facility like an observation deck or function room for tenants (or even public) on top would be a surprise.
Imre December 22nd, 2009, 05:06 PM TOPPED OUT !

Dan Hochhaus December 22nd, 2009, 11:49 PM Does "concrete frame completion" mean "overall topped out", or are there a few non-concrete parts of the crown higher up? If not, the T/O is a bit surprising, as the renderings looked as if the overhanging side towards the sea would stick out. Maybe a distortet perspective had been used to make the render picture appear more dramatic.:nono:
Also the model presented at cityscape 2009 (http://i36.tinypic.com/2ill9ue.jpg) with the tall fins doesn't seem to have been realized... (otherwise Ocean Heights would become taller than 310m anyway).
No matter, this is a favorite tower of mine...
...and let's change the thread title: Damac says there are 84 floors! :cheers2:
Parisian Girl December 23rd, 2009, 01:42 AM Great news! Well done Arabtec! :)

The fin was not suposed to be concrete so it doesn't mean it will not be there ... actually it would be stupid if it wouldn't.
malec December 23rd, 2009, 05:31 PM Not topped out. Just because the concrete tops out doesn't mean the whole tower is topped out. We saw that with burj dubai :)
roro987 December 23rd, 2009, 05:42 PM Most beautiful tower in Dubai Marina:banana:
spectre000 December 23rd, 2009, 06:18 PM The Cityscape model shows the core to be more angled upwards, as do the original renders. Also, the model appears to be a bit taller. The glass fins around the top don't appear they'd overtake the core.
The concrete core just doesn't look right to me. I think it might have some more work (height) left to go.
??? :dunno:
RubenT December 23rd, 2009, 08:36 PM While the shape is beautiful, I personally think that the cladding looks cheap. Bummer
flygon December 24th, 2009, 07:52 PM ^^ I second that. The design is great, but that dull blue color looks cheap.

DennisS January 15th, 2010, 11:16 AM ^^ Very impressive top part, looks T/O to me!
Dan Hochhaus January 15th, 2010, 01:16 PM ^^ Not so sure... maybe the arabtec sign on 3rd pic refers to the topping out ceremony of concrete back in December. Since then, those steel beams of about 6m have been put up on top (visible on last picture and on this Imre pic from Jan 8th (http://i50.tinypic.com/140dnaw.jpg). But has anybody a clue, if they reach full height?:?
saeed January 15th, 2010, 05:39 PM well, the height compared with the sorrounding indicates 310m.
I think its topped out!
TXSkyWatcher January 16th, 2010, 12:40 AM Topped out means the top floor is a finished plate....crowns aren't floors, they are decor only. Looks topped out to me.
malec January 16th, 2010, 12:47 AM Nope topped out here means the tower has reached its full height (so includes the spire if there is one)
TXSkyWatcher January 16th, 2010, 12:55 AM Wonder why Arabtec had a sign saying topping out ceremony if it's not topped with it's crown?
malec January 16th, 2010, 01:16 AM Because as you said, they topped out the floors. Plus they might have a different definition of topped out than what we have. :)
giovani kun January 16th, 2010, 04:06 PM anyway they should be able to finish the crown quite fast it's not such a big deal
saeed January 16th, 2010, 06:17 PM But is there a crown yet?!
I didn't notice in the render!
Dubai Skyscraper January 16th, 2010, 06:50 PM ^^ well, this part is still missing IMO:

...
In other words: this one's topped out? But a BMU wouldn't suit this tower as its very top. And what's the purpose of that beam on the other side?
AltinD January 30th, 2010, 01:18 AM ^^ That will probably be for the housing of the BMU, or in other words: The Fin we were talking about
skyperu34 January 30th, 2010, 06:18 PM The curves of this tower make it highlight among the others, looks very nice.

germantower February 8th, 2010, 02:35 PM Compared with what renders have promissed us, the result UNTIL NOW is dissappointing. The curvature, the roof, the cladding, everything looks fucked up, compared to the brilliant and stunning design which we saw on renders. One of the worlds best designed towers, was executed so baldy, a pity. I hope that they wont fuck up the Pento like that.
spectre000 February 8th, 2010, 09:34 PM When viewed or photographed from the NW you can really see the curvature. Most other angles don't do this building any justice. Which is kind of a shame.

AltinD April 16th, 2010, 08:46 PM The last one shows a very very interesting angle, but it would be fully enjoyed when everything is done.
DennisS April 17th, 2010, 01:55 PM Indeed! And a really nice progress although the concrete part is finished. When will it be officially completed?
Dan Hochhaus April 18th, 2010, 12:24 AM In the middle left of this pic (http://i44.tinypic.com/2rw8h8m.jpg) and here (http://i41.tinypic.com/2jadlqh.jpg) to the very right, there's a part of facade that apears "fake"... in other words: that lies outside the building atm. Is this just decoration or part of stoneless walls enclosing some facility space?
The Four Cats April 18th, 2010, 12:29 AM Incredible this tower, is of good design,:omg::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked:

Durbsboi April 20th, 2010, 02:45 PM very nice design but not to sure on the base...
woodystill April 20th, 2010, 05:55 PM Amazing how nothing is happening at the back of the building, but from other 3 sides, totally different. Just a great design!
Imre April 20th, 2010, 06:04 PM If you check the latest pics you will see that one outside elevator already removed at the back side and only one crane left.
Dubai Skyscraper April 20th, 2010, 07:56 PM If you check the latest pics you will see that one outside elevator already removed at the back side and only one crane left.
Imre i think he is talking about the design, not construction itself.
And right, from one side you can't see the curve.

CNTower246810 August 13th, 2010, 02:05 PM those are renders look at the trees they are the same in every pic
droneriot August 13th, 2010, 02:27 PM Maybe they're cloned.
AltinD August 13th, 2010, 03:08 PM To me looks like they photoshoped the plants, however the pictures looks real and taken with a long exposure and a HDR-type of effect applied
DennisS August 13th, 2010, 03:13 PM Those towels in the last pic are also definately photoshopped!
But if the rest of the pics are real then.. Wow!
droneriot August 13th, 2010, 03:34 PM All the star-shaped lightbeams in all three pictures are exactly identical, too.
Also, what's with the padded walls in the first picture? Does Ocean Heights double as an insane asylum?

Parisian Girl August 15th, 2010, 06:11 PM Finishing touches take place at Ocean Heights with interiors now under way
United Arab Emirates: 5 hours, 52 minutes ago | PRESS RELEASE
Damac Properties has completed the final three floors at its Ocean Heights development at Dubai Marina with public area interior finishes also coming through to completion.
The company has released interior images of the lobby, gymnasium and other common areas within the 84 storey skyscraper and has also confirmed that plans are on schedule for end of year completion and handover. The interior images are now available for customers to view on the new Damac Properties website.
Snagging works have been completed to the 65th floor and electricity has now been connected to the site with electrical testing and commissioning now in progress.
Ziad El Chaar, General Manager of Damac Properties, said:
"We are delighted to report that progress at our Ocean Heights development is well on track and that we are about to complete all the external works and then turn our attention to the interiors. Construction of Ocean Heights has taken less than three years which is a tribute to the fantastic team effort on site. With up to 30 different contractors on site each day and at the peak of construction around 2000 staff it has been a huge co-ordination exercise and we are especially grateful to our main contractor Arabtec and Consultant ECG for their project management skills."
"We are working hard to ensure that every last detail is completed to the highest standard and that the building rightfully earns the title of our flagship project when it completes later this year. We look forward to the day when our customers will be able to see this fantastic development for themselves," he added.
Landscaping has already commenced for the gardens and grounds at Ocean Heights with equipment for the swimming pool, spa and gym currently being installed. In the individual apartments kitchen cabinets, bathrooms fixtures and interior lighting and accessories are now fixed.
In addition to the completion works taking place at Ocean Heights, on-going interior progress is also underway at Damac's other main sites in Dubai including the health club being installed at XL Tower at Business Bay and final painting under way at Business Tower. Meanwhile at Smart Heights at TECOM a substation inspection is pending and at Lago Vista at IMPZ the tower crane has been removed with exterior construction work now 98 per cent complete. Furthermore customers have now started to move in to the first phase of the company's Emirates Gardens development at Jumeirah Village.
Mr El Chaar added, "We are making great progress at all of our sites in Dubai and this is in line with our commitment to hand over at least six of our projects in the next year." ameinfo (http://www.ameinfo.com/240156.html)

Oh dear, this side of the building is a real turn-off for me. Weird that i didn't notice this before. It's looking alright on the other sides, but it looks so unfinished with that random piece of cladding on this one.
Dubaiiscool:) February 19th, 2011, 03:39 PM ^^
I think it is al square because when the Pentominium is finished you won't be able to see this side of the building and another reason is because I think people prefer rectangular shaped balconies instead of odd shaped ones (space more useful).
AltinD February 19th, 2011, 04:06 PM What does ''random piece of cladding'' mean?
droneriot February 19th, 2011, 04:08 PM He's referring to the piece of wall that is protruding through the balconies.
