The Ocean Heights roof section is pretty complicated... advanced geometry! :nuts:
Looks a bit odd now with these sudden changes from floor to floor and with that now uncovered irregular concrete cubus, but surely this will look much more appealing when cladded, like the rest of the building.

Btw. there's an oversize level on top now, I guess this is technical area. A facility like an observation deck or function room for tenants (or even public) on top would be a surprise.

Does "concrete frame completion" mean "overall topped out", or are there a few non-concrete parts of the crown higher up? If not, the T/O is a bit surprising, as the renderings looked as if the overhanging side towards the sea would stick out. Maybe a distortet perspective had been used to make the render picture appear more dramatic.:nono:

The fin was not suposed to be concrete so it doesn't mean it will not be there ... actually it would be stupid if it wouldn't.

Not topped out. Just because the concrete tops out doesn't mean the whole tower is topped out. We saw that with burj dubai :)

The Cityscape model shows the core to be more angled upwards, as do the original renders. Also, the model appears to be a bit taller. The glass fins around the top don't appear they'd overtake the core.

The concrete core just doesn't look right to me. I think it might have some more work (height) left to go.

While the shape is beautiful, I personally think that the cladding looks cheap. Bummer

Topped out means the top floor is a finished plate....crowns aren't floors, they are decor only. Looks topped out to me.

Nope topped out here means the tower has reached its full height (so includes the spire if there is one)

Wonder why Arabtec had a sign saying topping out ceremony if it's not topped with it's crown?

Because as you said, they topped out the floors. Plus they might have a different definition of topped out than what we have. :)

anyway they should be able to finish the crown quite fast it's not such a big deal

The curves of this tower make it highlight among the others, looks very nice.

Compared with what renders have promissed us, the result UNTIL NOW is dissappointing. The curvature, the roof, the cladding, everything looks fucked up, compared to the brilliant and stunning design which we saw on renders. One of the worlds best designed towers, was executed so baldy, a pity. I hope that they wont fuck up the Pento like that.

When viewed or photographed from the NW you can really see the curvature. Most other angles don't do this building any justice. Which is kind of a shame.

this tower is looking good, particularly the subtle twist, which in close up shots isn't noticeable, but looks spectacular as a whole.

At the moment there's a nice view to Ocean Heights' aslope top from the SW of Marina. Unfortunatelly, it will be mostly blocked in a few months by Elite Residences.

To me looks like they photoshoped the plants, however the pictures looks real and taken with a long exposure and a HDR-type of effect applied

Those towels in the last pic are also definately photoshopped!

But if the rest of the pics are real then.. Wow!

All the star-shaped lightbeams in all three pictures are exactly identical, too.

Also, what's with the padded walls in the first picture? Does Ocean Heights double as an insane asylum?

All of these pictures are created with 3D software and a so called ray tracer. Probably 3D Studio Max. They're not even top quality renders - you can get much closer to reality look than this. Definitely not real pics, that's for sure.

Finishing touches take place at Ocean Heights with interiors now under way

Damac Properties has completed the final three floors at its Ocean Heights development at Dubai Marina with public area interior finishes also coming through to completion.

The company has released interior images of the lobby, gymnasium and other common areas within the 84 storey skyscraper and has also confirmed that plans are on schedule for end of year completion and handover. The interior images are now available for customers to view on the new Damac Properties website.

Snagging works have been completed to the 65th floor and electricity has now been connected to the site with electrical testing and commissioning now in progress.

Ziad El Chaar, General Manager of Damac Properties, said:

"We are delighted to report that progress at our Ocean Heights development is well on track and that we are about to complete all the external works and then turn our attention to the interiors. Construction of Ocean Heights has taken less than three years which is a tribute to the fantastic team effort on site. With up to 30 different contractors on site each day and at the peak of construction around 2000 staff it has been a huge co-ordination exercise and we are especially grateful to our main contractor Arabtec and Consultant ECG for their project management skills."

"We are working hard to ensure that every last detail is completed to the highest standard and that the building rightfully earns the title of our flagship project when it completes later this year. We look forward to the day when our customers will be able to see this fantastic development for themselves," he added.

Landscaping has already commenced for the gardens and grounds at Ocean Heights with equipment for the swimming pool, spa and gym currently being installed. In the individual apartments kitchen cabinets, bathrooms fixtures and interior lighting and accessories are now fixed.

In addition to the completion works taking place at Ocean Heights, on-going interior progress is also underway at Damac's other main sites in Dubai including the health club being installed at XL Tower at Business Bay and final painting under way at Business Tower. Meanwhile at Smart Heights at TECOM a substation inspection is pending and at Lago Vista at IMPZ the tower crane has been removed with exterior construction work now 98 per cent complete. Furthermore customers have now started to move in to the first phase of the company's Emirates Gardens development at Jumeirah Village.

Oh dear, this side of the building is a real turn-off for me. Weird that i didn't notice this before. It's looking alright on the other sides, but it looks so unfinished with that random piece of cladding on this one.

I think it is al square because when the Pentominium is finished you won't be able to see this side of the building and another reason is because I think people prefer rectangular shaped balconies instead of odd shaped ones (space more useful).

What does ''random piece of cladding'' mean?

He's referring to the piece of wall that is protruding through the balconies.

So why is The Torch listed as Completed, and Ocean Heights, wchich seemed to be completed even earlier, is not?

I think they are both listed as completed!!
Dont rely on emporis.com they dont update much these days...
Check the wikipedia list for world tallest buildings and you will find both there

I think he was referring to the title of this thread.
