impressive height and slimness...but overall i think dubai Marina towers' cladding should be a bit more diverse and inventive....maybe 2 or 3 100% shiny-reflective glass walls here and there would be good instead of this uniform mix of bland facades...

I would have preferred that too, but:

- Residential towers needs balconies
- Most of the developers followed that local pattern of design on their previous developments as well.
- EMAAR (the Masterplaner) set the tone for that type of design, with their own towers, that were the first to be build in the area.

Tacky design or not - this black monolith has become an eyesore compared to the done towers and should develop into a real building!

And in the long run, this may be a good sign for the other problem towers around (Pentominium, Damac Heights), too! :cheers:

But the fact that we're now seeing workers on site in addtion to a the lighted cranes is definately a good sign. Now all we need is for that ugly half-built brick that is the Pentominium to restart and we'll be all good.:cool:

Last night they have arranged the neon lights on several spaces and floors to create a huge TAV light-sign on the top 15 or so floors of the tower, also today one of the cranes had the boom lowered, the rope/cable was down and it seams to be picking up something from the ground. :banana:

The tall block will looks so fantastic when this is all cladded. And lets hope they get the Pentominium cladded out at about 200m or somethign like that not just concrete hulk

^^ Redesign? I thought they have stopped for a while and will now continue the construction but with the same design. Do they certainly have a new design?

Still the same board is there as before , cladding already begun it should be the same design , maybe they can do something with the top section and roof but not sure.

Princess Tower is topped out so they have a chance to build a taller one now, we will see , Marina 106 also coming , big race which will be the tallest one :)

Looks like cladding have increased.

^^ I don't see more cladded floor walls, nor new window glass on this side. Would be nice to have more progress!

I havent seen BMU's at the SZR side since restarted but the outside lift was moving every day , cranes also.

Well, I see the tower live twice for at least 5 days of the week .... and the progress is slow for my taste

I'll bet the neighborhood is glad to finally see some new cladding. Must be awful having to look at a tall black hulk for months on end. Great to see work resuming, even if it's slow.

I live in a condo with balcony, quite big, ( too much....) and I NEVER go out there.
So, If I had a condo in Marina 101 building, I am quite sure that I would not miss a balcony.
Actually, in my condo, I wish I had the space of the balcony for another room, not a balcony that I never use...

Anyway, I suposse there must be people that love to go outside or even sunbathing in the balcony... :-)

Friday is weekend so rarely there is any work being done. Having said that, you don't have to neccessarily see the workers for them to actually be there working.
