since the slogan appears to be "approved" by the majority, someone from DOT must ensure the new posters must be immediately translated to local languages of the top 10 markets at least. I hope there's synergy in the works now inside DOT after the new campaign became viral.

We BADLY need to improve our infrastrucutre and security to make our country tourist-friendly.

Next week, mawawala na siguro ang euphoria sa slogan na ito at magsstart na ang impeachment proceedings kay CJ Corona.

Sana naman wag lang puro GMA si The One, bigyan pansin din yung ibang more pressing matters. The One should give his full backing and support to DOT and must order DOTC, DPWH, PNP, etc na makipagcoordinate sa DOT para maging effective yung program.

1. ALL for you, it's more fun in the Philippines. background is Vigan, Zamboanga or FHM models or Filipino/Filipina sexy celebs. Oh yeah, ALL meaning Asia's Latin Lovers (ALL) for you, ;)

2. Romance for hours inside our Tunnel of Love, it's more fun in the Philippines. background is the Palawan Underground River. ;)

3. @mao rong, do you still have that stunning beach pic of Samar facing the Pacific O? Maybe somethin like, Our Pacific Panorama, it's more fun in the Philippines.

4. Does anyone remember that enchanting picture of a green lake with trees in the middle of the lake (somewhere in Mindoro ata)? Something like this - Be enchanted with our lady of the lake, it's more fun in the Philippines.

5. That Philippine eagle shot is great. An even greater smashing Angry Bird pic would be the Philippine eagle with wings spread out ready for flying. (Better if it's taken posing like the Ateneo eagle .... ok ok just kidding.)

From Qatar :

Philippines tourism suffers blow in copycat ad row

AFP MANILA PHILIPPINE tourism promotion efforts suffered another blow on Friday over claims its new slogan copied an old Swiss one, having already ditched an earlier campaign that allegedly plagiarised Poland’s.

Hours after the government rolled out its “It’s more Fun in the Philippines” campaign, Internet pundits pointed to a 1951 Swiss National Tourist Office ad which proclaimed “It’s more fun in Switzerland!” Dennis Gorecho, who described himself as a Manila lawyer, criticised the tourism department for spending a large amount of money on a copycat ad and linked to a website of the old Swiss poster.

I wish the site offer more options like placing the slogan or your tag phrase either at the left, center or right in addition to top or bottom. The font size should be adjustable as well. Also, the slogan and tag phrase should be separate to give the users more freedom.

^^The new slogan is already more than enough...With the help of every Pinoy, it will work wonders...The other thing that our government should do, which has been reiterated here for many times, is to improve Philippines' infrastructure, security and safety.

If slogan can do miracles, how much more if we standardize the safety, design, and convenience of all the motorized outriggered bancas that are used in island hopping/inter-island transpo?

Well we live in manila. And one of our fervent wish is that we can clean up this place. Coz as a citizen of the city i feel so sayang about the place. Ang laking potential talaga for tourism n business kaso lang nako kahit mga probinsyano at probinsyana nahihiya para sa amin pag dating nila ng manila, sobrang dumi, sobrang sikip, sobrang baboy. Manila is the image of the country abroad. Kaso manila is not the philippines. Bourne in the Philippines (http://businessmirror.com.ph/home/opinion/21690-bourne-in-the-philippines)

T is more fun to shoot movies in the Philippines. It does tie in nicely with the country’s latest tourism campaign, doesn’t it?

A number of films, critically acclaimed and box-office hits, has been shot here in the Philippines, including Apocalypse Now, An Officer and A Gentleman, Born on the Fourth of July and Platoon. Most recent was indie filmmaker John Sayles’s Amigo in 2010, a film about the Philippine-American War, which was shot entirely in Bohol.

It’s been a while, though, since a big movie outfit came to the country to shoot a movie perhaps; the last was the Kevin Costner starrer Thirteen Days, which was released in 2000.

Place for fun
Philippine Daily Inquirer
11:05 pm | Monday, January 9th, 2012

http://opinion.inquirer.net/20843/place-for-fun

“It’s more fun in the Philippines.” The new tourism slogan, although the same as the slogan used by Switzerland in the 1950s, does sound like an attractive catchphrase for promoting the country in the world of tourism. Despite some of the country’s negative aspects, the slogan does project the Philippines as a place for fun, enjoyment and relaxation.

The Philippines has a tropical climate that can be enjoyed by Westerners during their freezing winters. It has great, pristine beaches such as those in Boracay, Amanpulo, El Nido, Caramoan and Panglao (Bohol). It has other beautiful tourist spots like the Chocolate Hills of Bohol, Mayon Volcano in Albay, Taal Volcano in Batangas, the Banaue Rice Terraces and the Underground River in Palawan, to name just a few. It has the spectacular Manila sunset which never fails to awe the viewer at twilight time.

The lush vegetation; the lakes, rivers, waterfalls; the exotic flora and fauna of the country are things enjoyed by the tourists who visit the country. A Saudi visitor once said, “God gave us oil but took away the weather; He did not give the Philippines oil but gave you many things to enjoy.”

But more than its natural attractions, the Philippines is to be enjoyed because of its people. The Philippines has one of the most cheerful people in the world; the 2009 Happy Planet Index said the Philippines is the 14th happiest place in the world. A joint study by Axa Asia Life and research company Taylor Nelson Sofres in 2007 gave the Philippines an even higher happiness ranking. It said that Filipinos are the second happiest and most optimistic people in Asia and have a positive outlook on life in general. Tourists cannot help but be “infected” by the happiness of the constantly smiling Filipinos.

The secret of the Filipinos’ happiness may be in their sense of humor. Dr. Maria Rhodora Ancheta of the Department of Comparative Literature, College of Arts and Letters of the University of the Philippines, believes national humor is a potent showcase of “Filipino-ness” and helps us survive. Humor, whether oral or written, demonstrates the strength of the Filipino character and shows how laughter is used to reduce conflicts between people.

The tourist will not feel lost in the Philippines. He will be moving and interacting with hospitable cosmopolites of the world. Filipinos may be poor financially, but they are rich culturally and ethnically. The Filipino is basically of Malay stock with a sprinkling of Chinese, Spanish, American and Arab blood. Many Filipinos, because of their exposure to other cultures in the principal cities and places abroad where they have worked, have a smattering of such languages as French, Italian, German, Japanese and Korean.

The Department of Tourism says that the Filipino character is a little bit of all the cultures put together. “East is East and West is West, and ne’er the twain shall meet,” but they do meet in the Philippines. The bayanihan spirit or spirit of kinship and camaraderie is said to be taken from Malay forefathers. The close family relations were inherited from the Chinese and their Confucian culture. Their piety comes from the Spaniards who introduced Christianity into the country. The Filipino’s musicality is also legendary.

One big factor that makes a tourist feel at home in the Philippines is the fact that Filipinos are a largely English-speaking people. In fact, the Philippines is said to be the third largest English-speaking country in the world.

The people are perhaps the biggest factor that makes it fun for tourists to visit the Philippines. Hospitality, a trait displayed by every Filipino, makes the people legendary not only in Asia but also the entire world. Due to their long association with Spain, Filipinos are emotional and passionate about life in a way that seems more Latin than Asian, the tourism department says.

“It’s more fun in the Philippines.” We have the natural attractions and the people who can lure tourists into the country. Now, let’s work on the problems of infrastructure and peace and order that will make the country a truly ideal place for tourists to visit.

Boracay rediscovered

Framework
By Elfren Sicangco Cruz

After my last visit six years ago, I was surprised at the many changes that have happened in Boracay which made our family vacation last week in Microtel Boracay a rediscovery trip.

I had actually preferred Palawan or the new destination -- Camarines Sur -- for our annual New Year family reunion. But my children and nephews were all excited about a trip to Boracay. Last year, we had gone to Club Paradise in Palawan which, by the way, I highly recommend as a world-class vacation resort. This time I gave in to the younger generation and the trip became a rediscovery because of the many surprising changes.

The first surprise was that the Kalibo airport is much improved and clean. I also found out that it is now an international airport with regular flights to and from Shanghai, China. (among others like Beijing, Hong Kong, Taipei, Busan, Incheon/Seoul and soon Singapore)

Boracay itself is much cleaner especially the famous White Beach and D’Mall is now cemented and the shops have glass fronts. The main pathway has become a more pleasant walk with plants and benches all along the way.
The biggest surprise came on my first walk on the White Beach. I observed that the majority of visitors were foreigners and Filipinos were now a minority. This observation was confirmed by a number of restaurant owners and hotel supervisors. In fact, one popular restaurant owner/manager said that last year a surprising half of their customers were non-Filipinos. But this Christmas holidays, up to 70% of her patrons were foreigners.

On New Year’s Day, I had breakfast, together with my wife and daughter Aina, at the very popular Lemoni Cafe. The owner told me that in the past, people started coming in on New Year’s Day, after the evening revelry, at noontime. This year she said they were already full by 9 a.m. It was 10 a.m. when we sat down and we noticed that 14 tables were occupied. Of these, only three (including us) were occupied by Filipinos . I decided to go table-hopping and checked on the nationality of each group.

The first table I talked to was a young couple from England who was here for the first time. There was a table of four Koreans in their 20s and 30s who were from Seoul. There was another table of two Korean girls, also from Seoul. There was a solitary French guy, waiting for his girlfriend, who said he was from Nice, France. He preferred to come here because, according to him, the Boracay beach was better than the beaches of southern France.
There were six Chinese girls who had flown in the direct flight from Shanghai, China. Also, there was a lone Japanese who works in Shanghai and had arrived on the same flight.

There was an Australian couple from Sydney and another couple from the Gold Coast, Australia’s world famous beach. However they said this was their second visit, because Boracay was better than the Gold Coast. There was a Russian couple who said they had come with a large group of Russians and were planning to come regularly. A hotel owner told me that she had witnessed an increased influx of tourists from Russia in the last few years. Now she was seeing some from Kazakhstan.

I only met one American that morning and he was with another Russian girl. One Filipino couple were actually balikbayans from California who had brought along their children. Finally, I met a German couple who had come to Boracay after visiting the girl’s father who had decided to settle down in Borongan, Eastern Samar.

There were many new luxury hotels built over the last six years -- Microtel, Shangri-la, Discovery, Estacio Uno, Ambassador and Regency. But the grand old names are still there -- Nami, Sur, Fridays, Seawind and Soleil.
Many of the chain restaurants have set up branches in Boracay. But fortunately my favorite restaurants from past visits are still there and still packed with people.

Lemoni (lemon in Italian) Cafe was started in 2005 by an Australian Sarah La’Brooy and her Swedish business partner. Sarah had arrived in the Philippines in 1996 with her husband who came to manage a hotel. Today Sarah and Etienne La’Brooy have set up a hotel and club management company. Among the institutions they manage is Tower Club.

Lemoni serves all day meals but my favorite are their breakfast and salad dishes. Their coffee is one of the best in the Philippines. My wife loves it because it is so “cheerful” and my daughter considers it a “must” destination during each of her nine visits to the island.

“Jonah’s” now has three branches and remains the best place for fresh fruit shakes. It is open 24 hours a day and their Filipino breakfast is actually an all day meal.

“Real Coffee: Where Great Minds Meet” is still the same rustic, bamboo and nipa structure since it was opened in 1996 by a mother and daughter team Nadine and Lee Rosaia. According to Nadine, her mother was a world traveller who decided to settle down in the Philippines in 1984 and subsequently in Boracay a few years later. Their calamansi muffin is still their best seller.

“True Food” with their Sri Lankan chef is still one of the best Indian restaurants in the Philippines. Happily the place remains exactly the same as it did six years. Try their nan bread, vegetarian dumplings, chicken tandoori and my personal favorite, the lamb curry. Make sure you know how to sit on the floor for your meal but the pillows are huge and comfortable.

If you just want to sit and watch the world literally walking by, the place is still Cafe del Sol strategically located at the corner of D’Mall and White Beach. The place is owned by Juan Elizalde one of the sons of Freddie Elizalde. It is the place for rubbing elbows with Filipino movie stars, socialites, politicians and other celebrities.

Aquatic sports is, of course, another major attraction. My son Roel and his cousin Chris who studies in New York, recommend helmet diving for those who want to go diving without the necessity of taking lessons. My nephew, Norman who works in Shanghai enjoyed kite surfing which you have to see for yourself.

It was one of the best vacations I have ever had and it is with pride that I can confidently agree with a recent travel survey that the second best beach destination in the world for 2011 is Boracay in the Philippines.

Balik-Cebu launched to welcome balikbayans
By Katlene O. Cacho

MORE balikbayans are expected to arrive this week in time for the Sinulog celebration, officials of the Balik-Cebu program said.

Balik-Cebu program chairperson Tetta Baad said they are expecting over 300 balikbayans to arrive in Cebu starting on Jan. 10 from California, Las Vegas and Seattle and other countries.

Baad said the committee has already planned several activities for balikabayans, including a welcome ceremony at the Mactan Cebu International Airport.

The Balik-Cebu program aims to offer tourists an “unparalleled Cebu experience.” The program organizes chartered flights to entice returnees to come home for the Sinulog celebration.

“This (program) provides an impetus of enticing tourists to come to Cebu especially during the Sinulog celebration. The Balik-Cebu program has contributed to the increase of tourism arrivals in Cebu,” Rama said.

You don't get what I would like to imply, i am not against the slogan but as you know tards-abny issues is being so much maligned words even here in this forum and as I understand from our good Tourism secretary that it is still on trial stage and not yet final. As you showed that there's a good size of white in our flag, where is white there as symbol of purity? It is much nearer to interlinked symbol and color of autism logo as I have observed.

Well as you know in our design profession it lives by critics since college days, it is the criticism that make our projects better. If you are careless with even simple details or analysis it will cost your job.

As for that controversial “more fun” tourism slogan and logo, the cyber-prattle has moved on from the tagline and is now focused on the big-pixel symbol itself. Making the rounds of Facebook is a side-by-side comparison of the colorful symbol with the yellow map and the autism-awareness logo.

its not tacky, its original and it has won an award.

WOW PHILIPPINES VIDEO WINS BERLIN AWARD
Manila, March 14, 2003 -- The Department of Tourism's "More Than The Usual, WOW Philippines" advertisement campaign won the "Best International Video Advertising" award at the recently concluded Internationale Tourismus Borse (ITB) in Berlin.

The ads, which are shown on international media such as CNN and BBC, are intended to draw global attention to the Philippines' tourist attractions. One of the ads in the series features the Chocolate Hills in Bohol, accompanied by a warning to tourists saying: "Sorry, they're not edible."

Commenting on what he called "a great milestone," Tourism Secretary Richard Gordon said in a statement: "This award is a big leap in our efforts to promote the Philippines despite our meager resources."

The ITB, held March 7-11, is regarded as the global tourism industry's leading fair and an ideal forum for marketing and promotions. It is the largest professional trade fair, with some 10,000 exhibitors participating. An average of 130,000 visitors from various countries attend it.

The tourism department also won the "Best Marketing Effort of a National Tourism Organization" award in the overall category in 2002, and the same award for the Asia category in 2001.

It said the Office of Tourism Information recorded 175,828 foreign visitor arrivals in January, up 13.2 percent from 155,294 a year earlier, and 162,628 in February, up six percent from 153,373 a year earlier -- despite advisories of European and North American countries against traveling to the Philippines.[/QUOTE]

I disagree with these netizens who are surely making a mountain out of a molehill. The autism symbol takes inspiration from a puzzle and the DOT logo from the banig. They're not even remotely similar. I've seen autism symbols with other colors.

The Meaning of the Colors
The design of the ribbon which is inspired by jigsaw puzzles represents the complexity and the mystery of autism. The condition is not easily defined within set terms and definitions. It tells people that even though the disorder is not easy to understand, it is worth understanding and spending time on for the sake of those who have it it. It is a rallying point for people who want to bring the attention of other people to autism.

The different shapes and colors represent the diversity of people who are dealing with autism whether they are autistic or they are the family members of someone with autism. Other people who are not dealing directly with the disorder are also represented in this jigsaw puzzle design. It's a condition that affects all of us, hence the interconnected puzzle pieces of different colors and shapes.

The colors used are bright and basic, which symbolizes hope for defeating the disorder. It fuels the will of people in researching treatments for the disorder and in spreading awareness about the disorder. It is all about inspiring people to care about the cause or at least be aware that the disorder exists.

Come on,negas! Let's move forward! Definitely the "It's more fun" slogan is not original, but neither a copycat too. It is just coincidence. Switzerland owned it 60 years ago, now it is Philippines' , it is already our own!

Where the heck is this? Thank you.

This is located in the Pamalican Group of Islands in Palawan. The island is owned by the Sorianos and was developed by the Aman Group.

This has got to be the most expensive resort in the entire Philippines. Ni hindi nga to minamarket sa Pinas gawa ang target market nito ay uber rich foreigners. So many rich and famous people have come here already.

Tourism secretary Ramon Jimenez, Jr. is schedule to grace the 2012 Kalibo Ati-Atihan festival this coming January 14 to 15.

Jimenez would be arriving at Kalibo International Airport in an early morning flight from Manila on January 14. After the street dancing, he will tour the Bakhawan Eco-Park, Pina Village, Dela Cruz House of Pina, Museo it Akean and the Aklan Products Showcase in Kalibo Pastrana Park.

Streetlamps illuminate historic Calle Crisologo in the 16th-century town of Vigan. Located in the province of Ilocos Sur, Vigan’s well-preserved mix of Spanish colonial planning and Asian architectural influences earned it a spot on UNESCO’s World Heritage list in 1999.

I can not forget you,
I will always think of you,
I can not forget you,
Forever will I love you.

Without fear I swear
your beauty in full bloom
now lives on in my dream

LETRA

En todos mis ensueños
tu imagen siempre surge
porque en mi subconsciente
clavada estas tú

Por eso que te ruego
y que Dios ya me perdone
para que no me olvides
porque te adoro yo

No puedo olvidarte,
siempre pienso en ti,
no puedo olvidarte,
por siempre te amaré.

Sin temor yo te juro
que tu belleza en flor
vive hoy en mi ilusión
y en mi creer

No puedo olvidarte,
no dejo de pensar
en tu amor y en tu arte
que es todo mi querer

Y si pensaras
en quererme
acuérdate mi vida
que siempre pienso en tí

Oh yeah! One of the best beach retreats we went to in the Philippines, private, quiet, no crowd, crystal clear translucent opal bluish-green water, endless white powder-like sand beach as far as the eye can see.
