Durbsboi February 2nd, 2007, 09:29 AM Steyn to make Super 14 debut
February 01, 2007 - 15:11
Dick Muir has named his 22 man starting line-up for the opening Vodacom Super 14 match of the Sharks' season, against the Bulls on Saturday 3 February, at The Absa Stadium Durban.
Albert van den Berg has overcome the injury concerns from earlier in the week and will slot in on the bench, while young Francois Steyn is one of four players earning their Super 14 debuts (and another, his Sharks' Super 14 debut), playing at wing. The talented youngster was accommodated elsewhere in the backline to allow for the imposing Butch James to dictate matters at flyhalf.
Ryan Kankowski who had such a storming Currie Cup is another debutant, while Steven Sykes, and on the bench Kees Lensing and Rory Kockott, are other players running out for the first time in the Super 14 in Sharks' colours.
As local derbies go, this one is sure to be one of the highlights of the season as the two teams battle it out in a war of wits and brawn, and with the positive feeling in the Sharks camp about the season ahead, fans are requested to come out in force to support the team.

Durbsboi February 5th, 2007, 09:04 AM Whoo hoo! what a game, wasnt the best to watch, but its the first of the season, so it was expected to see ALOT of handling error's, & Saturday wasnt the coolest of days too. We could have scored more & at the same time, they could have scored more, Steyn was good, Koncosky was brilliant, Barrit was closed down fast so he couldnt show his talent, so was Murray. Habanna had a shit game, maybe he needs a few games to kick start, as for JP, he the man! & whats this nonsense about Habana being the fastest oke in SA Rugby, let him & JP have race, I got 100 buks says JP will leave banana in the dust!
Durbsboi February 5th, 2007, 09:04 AM No bullying the Sharks
A disappointing crowd of 33 572 turned out at The Absa Stadium Durban to rejoice in a vital season-opening victory over the Vodacom Bulls in the Vodacom Super 14.
It was a good start to the season as the Sharks ran out deserved 17-3, two tries to nil winners in a cauldron that owed itself to both the heat and the rivalry that exists between the two teams.
The Bulls suffered a setback when Derick Hougaard was ruled out of the game an hour ahead of kick-off, although he had been doubtful all week, and would not have hampered the preparations too much. Morne Steyn stepped into the breach with ease and it was the Bulls who attacked from the start, scaring a few fans as they looked intent on crossing the Sharks’ line.
They hammered away at the Sharks and should have been rewarded a few times were it not for resolute defense or poor passing – three forward passes, all of which should have been tries.
After absorbing the pressure, the Sharks started to assert their own game, forcing the Bulls forwards to turn and provide support for the deep kick, and on a few occasions themselves nearly got through.
In the only score of the half (Morne Steyn had missed a 45m long range penalty), the Sharks struck in the second quarter when Monty fielded a chip and chase, got Francois Steyn involved, the youngster made good yards before the ball went to ground and then moved across the field, with Ryan Kankowski and JP Pietersen combining for the latter to go over.
It was just reward for the enterprising play of the Sharks, but they as the game wore on, so both sides battled in the muggy heat, the energy-sapping conditions taking their toll on the players.
With a seven-nil lead at the break, it was not enough for the Sharks who knew they had a game on their hands. All the media hype of the physicality of the game came to bear, but it was the Sharks who managed to do more in the contact areas. In the final analysis, the Sharks were never bullied into submission, but exerted enough pressure to force the mistakes, and the Bulls wilted in the hot Durban weather.
Indeed, 22 handling errors is a statistic the Bulls will want to forget in a hurry, and contributed to their woes as everything they tried turned bad.
Not that the Sharks were clinical as they also had a number of errors break continuity, but when the opportunities presented themselves, and those that they created, twice they capitalised and made the most of them, with JP Pietersen scoring his (and his team’s decisive) second try that sealed the match - when it was still anyone’s game.
With five minutes left and the Sharks being forced to defend for long periods of play, it was their own desire not to surrender their lead, and the character they displayed which saw them emerge worthy victors when JP rounded off a movement that had started in his team’s own 22.
In victories such as this, it is unfair to signal out individual players, as it was indeed a victory built off a solid team performance. It boils down to capitalising on your opportunities, throw in a little individual flair, and making it count when it matters most.
Vodacom Bulls’ captain Victor Matfield paid tribute to the Sharks afterwards, saying, “Congratulations to the Sharks, they played very well. We had three opportunities in the first 15 minutes and we didn’t use them. This game is about using opportunities and the Sharks did.”
John Smit admitted that the game was a huge “challenge and we wanted to do the small things right. The youngsters in the team are a great example of what the Currie Cup produced last year, but everyone worked well together tonight. We wanted to work hard on composure and it paid off. Defense let us down last year, so it was something we have worked really hard on, and we are delighted with the win, but there is a lot of work to do.”
Scorers:
Sharks 17 (7):
Tries: JP Pietersen (2)
Conversions: Percy Montgomery (2)
Penalties: Percy Montgomery (1)
Bulls: 3 (0)
Penalties: Morne Steyn

Durbsboi February 7th, 2007, 08:24 AM No I aint,......... & NO IM NOT GOING TO START A THREAD JUST FOR HIS PICTURES
Michalak headed for Durbs
Monday 5 February 2007
French flyhalf Frederic Michalak will play for the Sharks next year.
The Sharks are expected to confirm the big name signing later in the week, but for now were saying nothing.
Michalak has long been a fan of Super rugby and has often said he would want to play in the competition. Playing for the Sharks would have been made easier because of the French connection of the 1990s when Thierry Lacroix and Olivier Roumat enjoyed success.
The Sharks lured former All Blacks flyhalf Tony Brown to Durban a year ago, but were unsuccessful in getting him back for this year’s Super 14. Brown had a huge impact and a player of Michalak’s quality will give the Sharks more quality.
It is also believed Michalak had been in talks with the Stormers about joining their squad for the 2008 season.
Michalak, according to French sources, is believed to be in Durban this week. He is currently injured and not involved with the French Six Nations tournament.

SA BOY February 7th, 2007, 12:17 PM he tried to join the waratahs but ARU says you cant play S14 unless you are able to represent the Wallabies
dysan1 February 7th, 2007, 09:19 PM nice to see we get all the marketable talent!! and hot ones at that.
anyway...i'm sick of the crap people in sa rugby circles talk (and the ozzies for that matter saying u cant play for one of their s14 teams unless u can potentially play for oz). I think its great for natal rugby's youngsters and therefore sa rugby that the young new guys get to play with the worlds best. if we can bring them in, then young guys like barrit, steyn and co can learn alot from these internationals. seems only the sharks realise this.
And anyway s14 excites me far more than national rugby sides going at it, and i support the sharks before i support the boks
Durbsboi February 8th, 2007, 09:44 AM ^^True that, look how much Steun learnt from Tony Brown last season, we dont need to bring in a whole shebang of international players, just a few so the youngster's can pick up new stuff from these guys. Its all part of the new sharks youth system.
dysan1 February 8th, 2007, 10:11 AM ^^ i never said bring in a million. but mixing top players all over the world is what strengthens a team. The bulls should try it, maybe they will learn to play some new styles that actually attempt to entertain

Durbsboi February 9th, 2007, 08:46 AM Waratahs make two changes
The Waratahs have brought in hooker Adam Freier in one of two changes to the side that beat the Lions last week as they line up for the Sharks in Friday night's 8pm clash at The Absa Stadium Durban.
Freier, Lote Tuqiri and vice-captain Morgan Turinui will all be celebrating their 50th Super Rugby matches, and the team is captained by Phil Waugh. Filled with Wallabies, the Waratahs arrive in Durban high on confidence after last week's victory, and have aimed for a whitewash of wins over their South African counterparts (they end their three week trip against the Cheetahs next Saturday.
In the only other change, flank Beau Robinson makes his debut, replacing Tim Davidson on the bench.
Meanwhile, Sharks captain John Smit has called on fans to bring their flags to the game in a show of support for the team. "It's a big visual motivator," explained John. "We don't really get to hear a lot of noise, what with all the action on the field, and the flags really get the energy in the stadium going, and it really helps us guys to know the fans are behind us. We, the players, want to start encouraging it as a culture. Bring your flag, wave it around! It creates atmosphere, and because it isn't big in Durban we ask for the buy-in from the fans!"
So bring your flags, get them signed after the game. The players will be only too happy to oblige!
The cherry on the top is the prize! The most creative flag will win a great prize, perhaps the Man of the Match jersey? So get those kokis and minds working!

Durbsboi February 9th, 2007, 08:57 AM Muir makes one change
The Sharks are up against the Waratahs this Friday evening in their second round match of the Vodacom Super 14, and coach Dick Muir has had the good fortune of being able to name an almost unchanged team from the one that convincingly saw off the Bulls at The Absa Stadium Durban on Saturday evening.
In the only change to the starting line-up, Adrian Jacobs comes in for Waylon Murray at outside centre, while Cedric Mkhize is added to the bench to the exclusion of Keegan Daniel who was the fifth forward on the reserves list last week, with Muir reverting to a 4:3 split against the Waratahs this week.
While the Waratahs have few obvious shortcomings, it is in the second row where they have the least experience, as it is the first year of Super Rugby for both locks.
However, Dick Muir makes no bones about the fact that the Waratahs offer formidable opposition. “We have huge respect for them,” he admits, “and are under no illusions that although they have brought some young players, it won't be any different from the past. We haven't beaten them since 2001 and it's a bit of a bogey game for us. I don't see too many weaknesses in their side.”
Those who watched them play the Lions last week, may feel that this team is not as strong as last year’s. Muir says that this is a team who knows how to adapt, and that is an obvious concern.
“They will mix it up - they won't play like they did last week. That's part of their success as they are very flexible. We've worked hard on our lineouts as that is a traditional strength of theirs.
“They pose a threat in their loose trio and back three. Their general defense is something they have prided themselves on and last year conceded the least number of tries in the competition.”
Last week the Bulls battled in the humid conditions, but certainly this affected both sides. Muir doesn’t feel that the Sharks will have an advantage. “I see it as a disadvantage for both sides. We both like to throw the ball around, and that means it will be a lot more of a tactical game taking the conditions into account.”
He points to Lote Tuqiri as their dangerman. “I would rate him as one of the best wingers in the world, he's certainly a game breaker and we have a high regard and respect for him.”

dysan1 February 10th, 2007, 04:01 PM Good win for the sharkies!! pity it was not the best of games from a tries perspective.
2 games, and still no one has crossed our try line!! good going. Think we did real well the hold the the tah's out considering how powerful their backs are.
so we sitting pretty on 8 points...here's to thumping the highlanders next week!!
Durbsboi February 12th, 2007, 08:41 AM What a terrible game on Friday, but hey we won, so I aint complaining! We still have ALOT of improving to do, its only the 2nd week, but we sitting pretty on the top. Good to see we hav'nt conceded any try's as yet, but we need to start winning convincingly, kill the game off early & make sure the opposition doesnt even smell a chance of a come back. Echoing Dysans call, Heres to thumping the Highlander's next week :cheers2:
dysan1 February 12th, 2007, 11:07 PM i do believe tho that people should stop moaning that the sharks arent playing running rugby. my belief is that u cant run all the time, u need to adapt to ur opponent and they do that brilliantly. there is a time and a place to run wide...and i see the highlanders game being that day
Durbsboi February 13th, 2007, 08:45 AM Yep, me too, so lets look forward to that, plus John Smit said yesterday that Sharks are not at the best at the moment but they aret striving to get there soon.
this thread is turning into a SHARKS thread instead of a super 14 :D
Lets talk about some of the other teams........
Stormer's: Hmmm they have some of the country's most talented & experienced players.......... but they loose to the worst team in the Super 14, actualy got thumped is a better way of saying it.
Cheetah's: They should have been the inform team of SA, good win the 1st week, then loosing to the Bulls? Consistancy is the key.
Bulls: Strong team, play ALOT of physical rugby, but it tires their players too much & leads to ALOT of injuries for them, they can put up a fight.
Lions: They won a game! they must be still celebrating!
Durbsboi February 13th, 2007, 08:51 AM YAY SHARKS FLASHER GIRLS, some of them look abit better in these pic's compared to last weeks. I wonder when the new girls will be on show, they had auditions for it yesterday.

Sharks need a 5 pointer!
Stormers need a win
Lions need to try all they can to beat the saders to limit them for later in the tourni, but will prob get klaped
Bulls....
Cheetahs would do well to continue the pain on the tahs
Durbsboi February 16th, 2007, 08:46 AM Muir rests Bok duo
Springboks John Smit and Butch James (pictured) have been rested for the Sharks' Round Three Vodacom Super 14 match against the Highlanders on Saturday evening at 8.30pm at The Absa Stadium Durban.
In their places come youngsters Bismarck du Plessis and Francois Steyn, two extremely capable replacements. Francois Steyn, as was expected, takes up the role of flyhalf where he played much of his rugby in the 2006 Absa Currie Cup, having played the first two matches on the wing, and Adrian Jacobs is rewarded for an outstanding match last week by continuing at outside centre.
The three injury concerns have sorted themselves out, and BJ Botha, Ruan Pienaar and Waylon Murray will all start the match. Squad rotation sees Jacques Botes gaining a breather, with Warren Britz taking over at flank, and in the absence of John Smit, AJ Venter is handed the captaincy.
The big news of course is the selection of former Springbok Captain Bobby Skinstad, who will earn game time in the second half when he makes his eagerly-awaited return to top class rugby.

Durbsboi February 16th, 2007, 09:02 AM Sharks should do the job, the Highlander's are 1 of NZ's weaker squads. Although 2 boks are on the bench I still feel the team has the potential to win with about them, last years Super 14 proved this, with the main Bok members rested for almost the whole campaign.
The clash of the "TAH's" game, will be a hard one, I dont think by having home support will make it any easier for the CheeTAH's. The WaraTAH's will be looking to bounce back from last weeks defeat & now should have come accustom to the temperatures, & it wont be as humid as Durban, so I the ball will be easier to hold on to. I see this one to be a tight one, with either side scraping it, cant see which TAH's will get it though.
Bulls vs the Force, the Force probably the worst Super 14 team proved the critics wrong by thumping the stormer's last weekend, but I dont see them doing it this weekend, Bulls will be too strong for them, but if they do surprise that could mean 2 things,
1) The Bulls are utter shite this season
2) We got another team to worry about
Lions playing the Crusaders, If it were last years Crusaders side , ld say a cake walk, but it shouldn't be any different this year, Lions side won last week, they should have good confidence going into this game, but some how I doubt they will pull it off.
Last but not least, The Stormers vs The Chiefs. After last weekends game against the Force, I honestly don't know what to expect from these guys. Just don't embarrass us again
Durbsboi February 16th, 2007, 09:04 AM Vodacom Stormers v Chiefs
Vodacom Bulls v Western Force
Hurricanes v Blues
Reds v Brumbies
Vodacom Cheetahs v Waratahs
Lions v Crusaders
The Sharks v Highlanders

Unfortunatley the only seats available seem about 30 storeys up and probably wont really get to see these gorgeous girls. Hope we klap those kiwis - a lot of my mates are from Otago and their arrogance needs a correction!

dysan1 February 18th, 2007, 04:21 PM well 3 from 3 is not something to complain about

U damn right 3 from 3 is nothing to complain about, another game full of error's & alot of chances gone begging, lucky for us, we didnt have rue over lost chances. The Coach admits there is alot of work to be done, which is good, he knows his side has done well, but not well enough, we got a bye this week so the guys will have a rest.
Regarding some of my other predictions, I got it wrong with the Lions, good hard fort win.
The bulls, didnt watch the game, but something tells me the Western Force got their rugby boots on the right way this year, coz they sitting on 3rd!
Told you the TAH's game was going to be close, but it must have been really hot in Kimberly, it was the first super 14 game that had to have a drinks break at the halfway period of the 2nd half, they players looked finished in the sun.
4 out of 5 SA teams won this weekend, not bad, not bad at all
Durbsboi February 19th, 2007, 10:35 AM oke in the middle looks stoned
lol, his in a higher state of mind, with beautiful bods around him, damn! lucky guy
dysan1 February 19th, 2007, 12:54 PM I still dont rate the western force, i think they have just taken their chances and have played the kak teams (and that includes the 1 dimensional bulls who play a game that is destined to be pipped by guys like the force).
Regards the sharkies...If we winning like this and we are not even firing...its gonna be a sight for the eyes when we do start firing...and then everyone must watch out!
Mo Rush February 19th, 2007, 11:00 PM My team is second :) might fly out to bloem.

Durbsboi February 21st, 2007, 10:21 AM Oh well, it doesnt phase me, Sharks through thick & thin for me, even if we do get religated & those Spears (if they win their court case) take our place.

Durbsboi February 23rd, 2007, 09:14 AM ^^She is quite a beaut too, but the other one does it for me :D.
Its a bye weekend for the waraTAH's & Sharks, we will be back next weekend tho against the Crusader's, who are on a pretty shitty run, hopefully we can make it more shittier!
now for this weeks fixtures:
Hurricanes v Brumbies
Higlanders v Vodacom Stormers
Blues v Reds Auckland
Western Force v Lions
Vodacom Bulls v Chiefs
Vodacom Cheetahs v Crusaders
Highlander's were'nt at their best last week, sharks exposed alot of their weakness's but couldnt capitalise on the chances, maybe is the stormers picked that up they can finish it off early, but these guys are a side that never give up, expect the highlander's to be still knocking on the tryline at the last seconds of the game.
Force & the Lions were pretty impressive last week, but I dont know whether the Lions attack is good enough, Force have been spreading the ball well & getting alot of points, I still think these are the competitions 2 worst teams, it could go either way, if the lions defend as they did last week they got a chance, but if they let go 2-3 trys then they might be in trouble.
Bulls playing at home, will want to make up for last weeks defeat, so look forward to alot of running & hard hitting, the Chiefs on the other hand will probably looking to do the same, doubt it will be very high scoring with both teams having good defence.
Lastley, Cheetahs playing the Sader's after last weeks defeat to the Lions I honestly dont know what to expect from the Sader's so Im going for an Orange win.
dysan1 February 23rd, 2007, 12:10 PM yes, Im talking about her, I thought the other one was your friend?
Nope, this one. Her name is courtney. She studied with me, thats how we met. She has a long time boy friend
hsark February 23rd, 2007, 01:11 PM fock! forgot to trade my sharkies players :(
heres my prediction
Hurricanes v Brumbies(already played)
Higlanders v Vodacom Stormers(mountain goats)
Blues v Reds Auckland(Blues)
Western Force v Lions(lions"risky")
Vodacom Bulls v Chiefs(dutch men in blue)
Vodacom Cheetahs v Crusaders(cheetahs)
sa sides shud atleast get 3/4 this weekend
Mo Rush February 24th, 2007, 12:34 PM ^^ switched allegiance when they won?? never thought i'd see mr cape town not supporting the stormers :)
not really, some bloem friends from uct back in 2004, still friends with them, still support the cheetahs.
hsark February 25th, 2007, 03:46 PM doesnt matter the cheetahs were smashed this weekend by saders so we're the mountains goats bulls won and i got the lions game right viva gauteng teams
dysan1 February 25th, 2007, 07:41 PM The bulls were very lucky to win. The chiefs fully deserved the win for they definately played the better game, however the way rugby goes the bulls managed to pull off the win, but i worry for them on the road, for they have never played well on tour.
As for stormers...well the score flattered them, they were shocking!! As shocking as england were against ireland and scotland were against italy!
Durbsboi February 26th, 2007, 09:35 AM what a crappy weekend of rugby, good on the highveld teams, only 2/4 SA teams won. Oh well at least the SHARKS are back this week & it looks like the Sader's have found their form, Dicky got some work to do with the laddy's this week.
Durbsboi February 26th, 2007, 09:35 AM Nope, this one. Her name is courtney. She studied with me, thats how we met. She has a long time boy friend
thats a small matter that can be taken care off easily ;)
dysan1 February 26th, 2007, 03:53 PM ^^ hehe :) he's prob twice your height and size
Reckon a big crowd will be down for the saders game. Paper is urging a 53 000 super rugby crowd record. I didnt know that the capacity was actually greater than 52 000, for that figure is only seats and excludes media, workers and certain entertainment areas.
Durbsboi February 27th, 2007, 09:11 AM ^^ lol, the dudes 3,8meter's tall & weighs 192kg's, you right I better stay away from him,
Yeh, Sharks are trying to draw the big crowd on Sat. I hope they get 40 000 or over if not the 53 000 they are aiming for, it makes watching the game all the more better when theres a big crowd. Im going for this & tomorrow nights Pro 20 @ Kingsmead, theres nothing better than watchins sporting events live, well its better if its in the evening in Durbs, so its abit cooler.
dysan1 February 28th, 2007, 10:22 PM My week predictions
Blues def Highlanders (Hard choice but they seem likely)
Force def Waratahs (They are really growing as a team and the tahs not looking good)
Cheetahs def Chiefs (but i think a close contest)
Canes def Stormers (dont see them having a chance)
Brumbies def Bulls (They dont travel well and not looking too good)
Lions def Reds (Had a good start and the reds arent too good in the consistancy dept)
Sharks def Crusaders (gotta go with my dbn boys!! want a 53 000 crowd!!!!)
Bring on Friday
hsark March 1st, 2007, 04:27 PM i agree with everything dysan said but i think the tahs will be the force
lions sharks and bulls to do it for the sa sides
Durbsboi March 2nd, 2007, 08:58 AM ^^ I'd go with Dys predictions but not sure on the Cheetah's, chiefs one, I hope Rassie & his boys pick up thier performance, the chiefs aint easy, so as Dys said, a close contest is expected.
Also the Force may have been strong travelling, but Im not sure I think the bumbies might have an edge on them,
& ofcourse a SHARKS victory, C'mon all the sharks supporters, lets hit the 53 000 !!!!!
Durbsboi March 2nd, 2007, 09:01 AM Rassie backs the Sharks
Rassie Erasmus, the coach of the Cheetahs team vanquished 49-28 by the Crusaders last week, reckons the Sharks have an “excellent chance” of beating the champions in Durban tomorrow, provided they play to their potential and do not make the mistake of underestimating the Crusaders.
“First of all I would like to set the record straight about our loss to the Crusaders,” Erasmus said yesterday from Bloemfontein ahead of his team’s match against the Chiefs tonight. “There is a belief that we were complacent before the Crusaders game because of their loss to the Lions, and that on the day we were a bit flat.
"That is nonsense. We were up for the game, big time. We knew they were due to hit form. We gave it our best shot but just could not match them. They were too good for us, it is as simple as that, and I think the Sharks would do well to take heed of this.”
Rassie says that it is a myth that the Crusaders are a shadow of their former selves because they are missing (resting) All Blacks, Dan Carter, Chris Jack, Aaron Mauger, Leon MacDonald and Richie McCaw and (injured) Greg Somerville.
“Talent-wise, this side is just about as good as the team that last year won the title. The young guys replacing the All Blacks are phenomenal – for example, flyhalf Stephen Brett is not far off Carter – and it has been a case of them needing a few rounds of the competition to find their feet. That is why the Crusaders were up and down in the early rounds. Now they are firing. The only thing not in this Crusaders team’s favour is leadership.”
And obviously the Sharks are not going to be shy to turn up the blow torch, and the stifling weather is also going to be a factor in this regard.
“The Sharks have the forwards to put pressure on the Crusaders. They have to get stuck in, big time, because if they allow the Crusaders to control possession and get the ball into space, then they (the Sharks) are going to struggle. The Sharks are a form team and have the right balance between experience and youth, and they have a big ally in the heat and humidity. The public don’t realise how difficult it is to handle the ball in heavy humidity and this will affect the Crusaders’ game more than that of the Sharks. A major strength of the Crusaders is their ability to offload in the tackle and that won’t be so easy in the sweaty conditions.”
The challenge for the Sharks got a touch more difficult yesterday when Crusaders coach Robbie Deans yesterday strengthened his team by including two fit-again All Blacks in wing Rico Gear and prop Campbell Johnstone, for Brent Ward and Wyatt Crockett respectively.
Gear, capped 17 times for New Zealand, is a prolific try-scorer. In 2005 he scored a competition record equalling 15 tries (Joe Roff scored 15 in 1997) and last year he scored another eight.
Johnstone has played three Tests for the All Blacks and 49 times for Canterbury. These two players add welcome experience to the Crusaders team.
Rico says his team are gearing up for a mighty effort. “This is our final game of our (three-match) South African tour and it is also our last game before our bye,” he said .”There is a huge amount for us to play for. We would dearly love to get on the plane on Sunday with the points from the Sharks game. That would be a lovely way to start our break.”
Sharks: 15 Percy Montgomery 14 Odwa Ndungane 13 Waylon Murray 12 Bradley Barritt 11 JP Pietersen 10 Butch James 9 Ruan Pienaar 8 Ryan Kankowski 7 AJ Venter 6 Jacques Botes 5 Johann Muller 4 Johan Ackermann 3 BJ Botha 2 John Smit (capt) 1 Deon Carstens
Substitutes: Bismarck du Plessis, Tendai Mtawarira, Albert van den Berg, Warren Britz, Keegan Daniel, Rory Kockett, Adrian Jacobs
Crusaders: 15 Scott Hamilton 14 Rico Gear 13 Casey Laulala 12 Rua Tipoki 11 Caleb Ralph 10 Stephen Brett 9 Andrew Ellis 8 Mose Tuiali’i 7 Johnny Leo’o 6 Kieran Read 5 Michael Paterson 4 Ross Filipo 3 Campbell Johnstone 2 Corey Flynn (capt) 1 Ben Franks
Substitutes: Ti’i Paulo, Wyatt Crockett, Isaac Ross, Peter Nixon, Kevin Senio, Tusi Pisi, Brent Ward
dysan1 March 2nd, 2007, 04:45 PM so the force and tahs 16 a pieces.... hard to see that one!!! That draw is VERY good for the SA teams!!!
28 -9 for the blues over highlanders...saw that coming!
Durbsboi March 3rd, 2007, 11:04 AM OMG! stormers beat the canes! deff didnt c that coming!
dysan1 March 3rd, 2007, 04:10 PM yeh....and the lions won, and the bulls won (hope its not a one off away win)!! the cheetahs are looking kak, drawing with the celler dweller chiefs.
Cant believe the stormers won, but after watching the highlights it really doesnt look like either team were really playing well. but good that SA teams have not lost a game so far this weekend. Sharks to go....
i better be off to the game! cheers
Durbsboi March 3rd, 2007, 07:01 PM WE W0N! WE W0N! THATS WAT U CAL A FUCKEN GAME! I CUD KISS SUM1! BUT THERES ALL UGLY PPL AROUND ME! WHERES THOSE FLASHER GALS G0NE?

Mo Rush March 4th, 2007, 08:47 PM the stormers won and it rained in cape town most of the weekend., pity about the cheetahs. next time i suppose.
Durbsboi March 5th, 2007, 08:58 AM I think this is the 1st time in Super Rugby history that none of the SA teams lost!
Great weekend for SA Rugby!
Match was great, I eventualy did find a nice hotty in the back, where the braai's were happening, & did land a kiss! so good weekend for all!

According to this article (http://www.int.iol.co.za/index.php?set_id=6&click_id=192&art_id=vn20070305063947830C209441), 33,000 fans showed. (And made a difference!)
We have this problem here in the US, particularly in beach cities. Professional sports do poorly in Florida and Southern California, except when the team wins a championship. (Then of course everyone is a fan, even if they only became one the day before the championship.)
Durbsboi March 7th, 2007, 08:35 AM lol, nah I dont think support is a problem, I think its got to do with lazyness on the fans, there a 1000's of sharks supporter's, hell even more maybe millions, but they dont make the effort to get down to the ground. I think its the hot & stinky conditions that detor them from coming out, when they can relax with the fan/ac on at home, with their own clean toilet to go to at half time.
Well one things for sure, if Sharks go all out this season & get a home Final & we dont get a full house, then we supportters are pretty pathetic.
Durbsboi March 7th, 2007, 08:36 AM what happened to her eyes ???
http://i17.tinypic.com/2zr1awo.jpg
Theres nothing wrong with her eyes?
Q-TIP March 7th, 2007, 09:23 AM My tips for week 6 are all home team wins except the in-form Sharks..:
HIGHLANDERS v Reds from Carisbrook
BRUMBIES v stormers from Canberra stadium (both have 2 wins from 5 matches...)
FORCE v Hurricanes from Subiaco oval (should be close game)
Cheetahs v SHARKS from Vodacom Park (sharks looking too good atm)
BLUES v Lions from Eden park (match of the week, 1 vs 3)
WARATAHS v Bulls from Aussie Stadium (May take some photos)
Chiefs/Crusaders have the bye
Q-TIP March 7th, 2007, 09:32 AM According to this article (http://www.int.iol.co.za/index.php?set_id=6&click_id=192&art_id=vn20070305063947830C209441), 33,000 fans showed. (And made a difference!)
According to wikipedia only 22 500 turned up to the Sharks-Crusaders game? That cant be right, the commentators, were talking the crowd up as a factor. Surely, there is an official count at SA super rugby venues, mid-way through the second half to allow strollers to come in?
Not sure, but I think I was part of the biggest week 5 crowd, at Aussie Stadium of 31 149 to watch the Force and Waratahs 16-all draw....
dysan1 March 7th, 2007, 09:23 PM There were 33 752 people according to the Mercury and so far this season the Sharks are averaging 33 000 per game, the highest in the competition this year. So even tho the crowds arent over the top huge, we still top the crowds table.
I agree that spectators numbers after each round should be released so we can check how different places do!
The crowds will always struggle when its exceedingly humid like the past few weeks and having the tourni start as early as it did this year did not help.Home or bar with the aircon will always win! also with most games so far starting after 8pm you are never going to get the crowd u aim for cos that is too late for when the average person wants to go to a rugby game. The best supported ones will always be at 3pm or 5pm.
dysan1 March 7th, 2007, 09:25 PM The pool was more appealling than going to the ground and i even had a ticket!
dysan1 March 7th, 2007, 09:31 PM Highlanders v Reds Only one team has a chance in my opinion
Brumbies v stormers. While the brumbies are looking rubbish, so are have the stormers bar last week. I think will be close.
Force v Hurricanes Hurricanes will pull thru and keep the force waiting another week to win their first home game
Cheetahs v Sharks Think the sharks will show much better handling since they will be away from the durban humidity that has been bad for all teams playing here.
Blues v Lions. Lions have done well til now, just dont think they stand much chance here, will be closish tho.
Waratah's v Bulls. Sorry but the tah's are looking the cellar dwellers they are. Bulls aint the greatest and should be playing better, but should over power the sydneysiders. but they cld implode like they reknowned to do.
Durbsboi March 8th, 2007, 08:39 AM I see Ollie has started his shit again, bad mouthing BJ yesterday. He likes to start his verbal battles before the game, but whats actualy funny, he really loves the Sharks, but its fun before the big game to have verbal bust ups.
We playing in Bloem this weekend, so no Flasher girls :( , no killer's song in my head  (lol, the playing the song on the Radio right now)
But what will be there, is one cracking game, Sharks havent beaten the Cheeter's *cough* Cheetah's in the last 7 games! in all competitions, its clear that we are stronger than them in the Super 14, but they going to go old school currie cup on us there. So it wouldnt make a difference, I hope the guys got plenty energy in thier legs, cause I expect ALOT of running, I given up predicting other games! You never know whats going to happen.
Durbsboi March 8th, 2007, 08:49 AM Durbsboi im trying to work here
This is a construction forum and there shouldnt be pics of those girls in here!
hehe fuck that! nice pics!!!
:horse:
Hell yeah Brad  pitty this week we playing away, so they wont be any pic's, unless the boerer meisies from bloem come out in their bikini's ........... please only the HOT ones, I dont want to get blind before the game.
dysan1 March 8th, 2007, 11:39 AM We beat them in the warm up game before the start of this years super 14 bud. 12 -10 in durban. but you right about not beating in competion games
Q-TIP March 8th, 2007, 12:05 PM There were 33 752 people according to the Mercury and so far this season the Sharks are averaging 33 000 per game, the highest in the competition this year.
Sharks beats us with crowd figures too then:bash:
Totally agree with your sentiments about the schedule. I guess its only to give players sufficient break to prepare for France. Its been too hot all over the venues. Scarf hasnt come out yet, and with humid skies of 26 C for sat night against the bulls, its not looking like coming out til next month.
Martsbra March 8th, 2007, 12:32 PM I must tell you there some hot boerer meisies walking around Pta and bloem
those afrikaans guys have it good! and it doesnt help that my flirting skills in afrikaans suck (I just say "Ja" the whole time)
Martsbra March 8th, 2007, 12:40 PM "Sir, would you like a 'to go' order or have your dinner here?"
"Ja"
"Um sir, is that yes for a 'to go' order or yes for having your dinner here?"
"Ja"
"Sir!?"
hehe
Durbsboi March 9th, 2007, 09:34 AM ^^LOL, yeh have been to bloem, just joking unofficially they have the hottest woman in SA, only thing is the language problem, as you said, most of them only speak afrikaans, try going to a afrikaans strip club in Bloem! then you'll really have problems!
Martsbra March 9th, 2007, 02:57 PM esp if you go on the wrong night!
hsark March 9th, 2007, 04:57 PM too late for predictions 4 friday but im backing the bulls and the sharks for tomz hope lions can get a bonus point cause the blues going hammer them *note 4 the past 3 games i've gone for the lions winning*
dysan1 March 10th, 2007, 12:26 PM Well the lions did catch a KLAP!! All this talk of being semi contenders...blah...
And the stormers were lucky not to lose by more, bad bad bad.
Well done Bulls, good game and probably one they were expected to win considering the shocking form of the tah's so far in the competition, but good to get 2 on road so far and betaing their normal tour record..blues will be a test
Lets hope the Sharkies can finish the cheaters and get a 5 pointer for us! we need bonus as well as wins!
SA BOY March 10th, 2007, 06:55 PM 5 from 5, including 1 away win.could be our year
Durbsboi March 10th, 2007, 08:47 PM wat a game, we gave dem a hiding! bt JP let us down in da handling dept. bt made up for it with the intersept try. but den yet again he took his eyes off the ball
and cost us the 5 points! But his a top lad and im sure Dicky will sort his problem out. Next wk we got da canes, we hav 2 get a 5 pointer, it will be tough, bt we will only be 2 points ahead of da blues if we do so. oh well lets go jol!
Q-TIP March 11th, 2007, 09:20 AM Sharks were impressive. I missed the game though...damn time difference:bash:
The Blues and the Lions was dubbed the 'match of the round', what a disappointment. Lions looked good in patches, but that said, were lucky not to lose by many more, as the Blues handling errors were appalling...as for the tahs, well, im speechless:bash:
Martsbra March 11th, 2007, 07:39 PM Shame poor lions
klap is the right word
I prefer NZ teams over OZ teams anyday
and altho i support SA teams 100%
-doug howlett you a beauty! did you see his hit on rose?
WO! that was fantastic! actually made me laugh it was so good
dysan1 March 12th, 2007, 11:49 AM 5/6 in my predictions, not bad...
Regard JP... he is a right tosser. The only thing that kid is good for is running ans stepping. He had 6 costly handling errors in that game on top of the many he has had in other games. The job of a wing is to catch, theres not much else they should be practcing each week. if he cant do that then he should seriously lose his place in the team.
Otherwise well done to the Sharks, pity no 5 pointer!! Could come back to bite us all these wins with no bonus points.
Durbsboi March 12th, 2007, 12:11 PM yeh, thats what Im scurd off too! We in 2nd, with 1 game less than the blues, & we 3 points behind!
hsark March 12th, 2007, 05:19 PM DIE BLOU BLOU BULLE  we finally smash the tahs ahhh the dutch men did us proud ....ps i take back my comment on the aussie coach his helped big time remember last year when we were smashing the force(22-3 at half time i think) and the chiefs away from home and lost the plot in 2nd half
look at my prediction it was perfect!!
dysan1 March 12th, 2007, 10:04 PM ^^ Feel good now...this weekend is a big one and in a different league to the woefull tah's
Durbsboi March 13th, 2007, 09:17 AM Some pic's from Bloem, I think the camera man, smaaked this chick, cause its the only girls he took pic's of!

http://i5.tinypic.com/4h7sydg.jpg
dysan1 March 13th, 2007, 10:35 PM so looks like bob will be in the starting 22, good game in the vodacom cup i'm told...huricanes injuries continue and with 2 losses they will be feeling pressure.
Durbsboi March 14th, 2007, 09:46 AM Yep Bob's on the bench, along with John Smith whom is being replaced by Bismac , Are the AB's back this weekend?
SA BOY March 14th, 2007, 03:32 PM no ABS back this week
Durbsboi March 15th, 2007, 09:28 AM Oh shit, that mean Umanga & gang will here to face us!
SA BOY March 15th, 2007, 12:17 PM they are a hot and cold team (like France) depends which side of the club they left the night before to see how they will play
Q-TIP March 15th, 2007, 01:11 PM ^^ The hurricanes could be the side to end the unbeaten Sharks run. Quick wingers, strong forwards, and a side that produces brilliant tries from out of nowhere...Good match up.
My tips:
Force v Reds from Perth
Cheifs v Lions from Hamilton
Cheetahs v Brumbies from Bloemfontein
Sharks v Hurricanes from Durban
Crusaders v Bulls from Christchurch
Waratahs v Stormers from Sydney
dysan1 March 15th, 2007, 01:27 PM Their all blacks only come back next week guys, thats when the official rest period ends. But i dont think they will be on firing form for 2 weeks as they have not had any match practice, and that is very very very important.
Also with the huricanes oddly deciding to base themselves in cape town, they will have not got used to the humidity, even plummies thinks its odd and he was the one who coached them to a NPC victory last year. With the sharks having his expertise, knowing their weaknesses it could be a big score for the sharks. However if the good huricanes arrive it could be anyones game...but 2 losses on the trot? they'll be hungry, but lost so many players to injury that they dont look the winning team
SA BOY March 15th, 2007, 04:53 PM na the tank will be full, the fileds a sea of braai and beer and the sharks finally come of age and play the old scholl of Natal rugger circa 95-98 when plummers and dickie were die manna, Big score me thinks
dysan1 March 15th, 2007, 08:35 PM ^^ and me hopes...
Durbsboi March 16th, 2007, 09:23 AM Even if the AB's are back this weekend, as Dys said, most of them havent had match practice, but that doesnt mean they wont be firing, these guys are machines, its an "on" & "off" button they have & dont need to warm up, but what we can expect from them is plenty handling error's, & with the humidty & slippery ball we can expect more then usual amount of them.
JP better have learnt how to catch the ball during this past week, his a great talent, but small things are letting him down. Murray is a center for the future, if we to have a big game tomorrow, I see him being one of the main guys that will help us getting there, along with Barrit.
A guy I think who would be good to have against the Hurricanes, is Heno Mentz, any idea if his still injured?
Brtiz is back in the starting 15, his a work horse like AJ. Expect to see fireworks from those two.
Bismaak, is in at hooker, hope his line out throw in's have improved, but we always got Smit on the bench. Ruaan will be an important player tomorrow night, he needs to find the gaps from rucks & scrums, I see him breaking away for a few.
Although playing in Durbs, the Sharks try not to make it a physical encounter because of the conditions, but the Canes will make it one, so they have to be prepared for alot of running & smashing. The Sharks can pull of 6 out of 6, I have no reason to doubt them, but they need to learn to finish off games, 5 points style!
dysan1 March 17th, 2007, 12:40 PM i said the ALL BLACKS WONT BE BACK THIS WEEKEND!!!
Mo Rush March 17th, 2007, 08:11 PM cheetahs gave the brumbies a whipping and a half.
Durbsboi March 17th, 2007, 10:09 PM 6 out of 6 , and its a 5 pointer biatch :D
dysan1 March 18th, 2007, 10:32 PM and a 37000 crowd! was a mighty piss up. sitting pretty up top. and with the way the brumbies looked on sat, we could be heading for 7/7 and 30 log points by next week.
what a klap the bulls got! totally underestimated the saders, or relly didnt care about winning it, which is even more worrying
Durbsboi March 19th, 2007, 10:24 AM Awesome game, Awesome crowd, but really, the guys who take their chick on top of the stands to shag, should really wait until the game is over :D
hsark March 19th, 2007, 04:06 PM what u got pics please relay them 2 me it we keep my mind off the rugga after we got smashed by the saders
dysan1 March 19th, 2007, 09:31 PM WHAT DB??? was it u.....lol
Durbsboi March 20th, 2007, 10:14 AM No it wasnt me, I save the celebrations till after the game ;)
but yes guys take there woman up there during the game right to the top of the stand & do the bad thing! So you dont know what to concentrate on ! the game or ....
dysan1 March 21st, 2007, 12:39 PM thats just wrong!!!
anyway...brumbies look to still be missing larkham this wknd, which means an easier side for the sharks to face. we need another 5 pointer
Durbsboi March 22nd, 2007, 10:52 AM We need a BIG game to send the boys off down under, C'mon Durban! we want a 52 000!!!
Durbsboi March 22nd, 2007, 11:22 AM just got this in the mail, its a fucking classic
Two boys are playing cricket on a field in Durban, when one is attacked by
a vicious Rottweiler.
Thinking quickly, the other boy took his cricket bat and managed to wedge
it down the dog's collar and twist, luckily breaking the dog's neck and
stopping its attack.
A reporter who was strolling by sees the incident, and rushes over to
interview the boy.
"Young Sharks Fan Saves Friend From Vicious Animal," he starts writing in
his notebook.
"But I'm not a Sharks fan," the little hero replied.
"Sorry, since we are in Durban, I just assumed you were," said the
reporter and starts again.
"Stormers Fan Rescues Friend from Horrific Attack,..." he continued
writing in his notebook.
"I'm not a Stormers fan either!", the boy said."
"I assumed everyone in Durban was either for the Sharks or Stormers.
So what team DO you root for?" the reporter asked.
"I'm a Blue Bulls fan", the child beamed.
The reporter starts a new sheet in his notebook and writes:
"Little F*cker from Pretoria Kills Beloved Family Pet."
dysan1 March 22nd, 2007, 01:17 PM haha
Umhlanga March 22nd, 2007, 06:44 PM Hilarious!
Durbsboi March 23rd, 2007, 10:33 AM Looks like that dumbass Larkham is back, lets smash him :D!
It is flippin humid today, & me thinks tomorrow will be the same, so expect a sloppy game, with lots of handling errors & a 5 pointer for the SHARKS!
Martsbra March 23rd, 2007, 01:43 PM australian rugby players in general are dumbasses
esp ones like larkham that forced us out of the world cup last time..
he's got that face that u just wana klap
hsark March 23rd, 2007, 06:05 PM hahaha *only bulls fan around* ps sharks bulls and lions(well if the lose they wont get hammered as everyone thinks) mountain goats 2 lose
dysan1 March 24th, 2007, 12:49 AM Well the tah's got exactly what they deserve.
if anyone is brave/foolish enough to wake up to watch the stormers enjoy it...as for bulls...while i think they could win it, i really do that asking them to win 3 on tour is just a bit too much
Durbsboi March 24th, 2007, 05:51 PM Well the AB's are back, and the saders showd it. lets hope the sharks can pull sum shocker's when they tour.
bak 2 today, any1 going down to da ground? im not, watchin da cricket, bt myt go for the motorshow, i heard its not as lame as last year's
Q-TIP March 25th, 2007, 03:54 PM Sharks drop their first game, and begin their tour of oz and NZ:) Could this be the start of their fall from grace? Mid-season hiccup? Larkham is baaacccck, and the Georges were fantastic:) :)
hsark March 25th, 2007, 05:34 PM nah the sharks are 2 good i mean really they've got a easy tour ps my predictions we right again lions and bulls won the sharkies were kak guess the yokes in ur face now :)
Q: What's the difference between a busload of sharks fans and a Hedgehog?
A: On a hedgehog, the pricks are on the outside.
Durbsboi March 26th, 2007, 10:30 AM ^^Haha, where you stay again?
We played Kak, end off...
dysan1 March 26th, 2007, 09:05 PM yeh we did play kak...once again JP cant catch anything and should seriously be left behind to actually get trained!! other than that Steyn had a shocker of note continually making very bad decisions.
At the end of the day the brumbies mad good choices and researched the sharks very well.
Doom and gloom? no, just a much needed reality check to get them thinking properly.
Brumbies still semi's hopes? maybe, but i really dont think so
Durbsboi March 28th, 2007, 10:18 AM ^^True, We got a ........... toughy this weekend, yes the Force have stepped up a MASSIVE gear from last year, & are really a "force" to be reckon with . But if we win in Perth (which is mini SA) we should have our confidence back for the rest of the tour, which could see us come away with 4 wins.
Yes JP should be benched, he needs to learn a lesson, his good, but if he keeps making mistakes like that week in & week out, I dont see a place for him in the starting 15, that is why I didnt want Russel to go, he would have been ideal to fill that spot. I cant get that try Russel scored against Aus in that Tri Nations, running his arse out towards the try line only to be ankled taped, he fell, looked around, & smoked everyone in the Aussie team to the tryline, he was like an F1 car on start off!
Durbsboi March 28th, 2007, 02:37 PM Some pic's from Saturday.

Wheres my fav flasher girl :( I dont see her anymore
I dont have the Killers song in my head anymore :(
hsark March 28th, 2007, 04:44 PM jp really needs to learn the 2 catch the ball i cant still figure out why russel was sold cause he didn't want to leave and was one of the sharks stars what dysan what happened 2 that other wing the young bloke white guy ....oh wheres henno mentz
dysan1 March 28th, 2007, 09:28 PM I'm not a russel fan....i just dont believe he can ever play a full 80mins. Henno...agggh not a fan of him either hey. he never really has much in the way of form
Q-TIP March 29th, 2007, 02:24 AM This week will test the SA teams. All away, but the Lions who face a rejuvenated Canberra boys at Ellis Park...i wont tip this week, coz i suck of late, cant even tip a cricket wc win atm:lol: Some jummies at the game, even thu blondies usually dont do it for me! I think 'S' girl is on some of drugs that nite!
Durbsboi March 29th, 2007, 10:15 AM U right it will test the SA sides, but I have full confidence in the Sharks, but they picked JP again :bash: u know that famous cricket phrase could apply to JP too, "catches win matches u doos!!!!!!"
Sharks to wipe their blushes
28/03/2007 22:05 - (SA)
John Bishop
Pietermaritzburg - Sharks coach Dick Muir has provided his players with the opportunity of removing some of their blushes tossing nearly all of them into the Super 14 outing against the improved Western Force in Perth on Friday.
The complacent, subdued Sharks fumbled and bumbled their way to defeat against the Brumbies in Durban at the weekend and they now have to win on the road if they are to have any chance of finishing in the top two on the log and hosting a Super 14 semi-final.
The Force game is the first tour match with games against the Reds, the Blues and the Chiefs to follow.
In the only change to the starting line-up, Springbok lock Johann Muller returns for Albert van den Berg to add beef and aggression to the Sharks pack.
Centre Brad Barritt, who limped off the field against the Brumbies, has been passed fit and is included. Unlucky to again start on the bench is centre Adrian Jacobs, the one Sharks player to show some life and urgency against the Brumbies, and certainly Waylon Murray can be considered fortunate to be starting ahead of him.
Francois Steyn retains his place
Fullback Francois Steyn, who had a rare poor day against the Brumbies, retains his place with Springbok fullback Percy Montgomery given another week to recover from his thigh muscle strain.
There is only one change on the bench as Keegan Daniel, who turned out for the Wildebeest on Saturday, is back for Ryan Kankowski.
John Mitchell's Force team have proved the surprise packet of the season and have lost just two of their seven matches while wining four and drawing one. They hold fifth place on the log while the Sharks are second.
The Force have been further boosted by the return of of highly-rated scrumhalf Matt Henjak and world-class Wallaby centre Matt Giteau. Scott Staniforth remains on the injury list

Durbsboi March 29th, 2007, 10:17 AM This week will test the SA teams.
I saw some stunner's at the auditions, cant belive they didnt pick those, the whole point of being a flasher girl is to be a jaw droppa! Anyone saw the "Axe Jet girls" on the stands, my my they were mighty fyyyyynnnnn in their yellow airhostess's uniforms
Durbsboi March 30th, 2007, 11:15 AM We got the Farce @ lunch time, 1st game on tour, Im guessing tough game but we'll smash'em, prob even get 4 tries if we are lucky. We need the forwards to perform, if they can drive consistantly & suck in their defence & then spread it quickly to the wings, we'll be in !
Durbsboi March 30th, 2007, 02:46 PM fuck, things not looking too good for the sharks, 13-3 down after 37minutes
hsark March 30th, 2007, 03:24 PM damn sharks are 16-12 down 58mins played :(
Durbsboi March 30th, 2007, 03:24 PM ^^19-12 now!
but Steyn landed a 55m drop kick! I gotto to see that when I get home!
hsark March 30th, 2007, 03:28 PM 19-12 down giteau penalty
hsark March 30th, 2007, 03:30 PM so what if he lands a drop wont matter much if u lose come sharkies 1 try plz
hsark March 30th, 2007, 03:37 PM haha how many knock ons have the sharkies made tsk tsk losing to the force like that cause u know u guys are going to have a hard time against the blues
Durbsboi March 30th, 2007, 03:49 PM FUCKEN HELL :bash: u know I said we should have had bonus points win all the time, well heres when they become important! another ASStralian side beating us :gaah: shitty start to the weekend, hopefully Liverpool can beat the Arseholes tomorrow! C'mon u Reds!
hsark March 30th, 2007, 04:19 PM :( 2 in a row think u guys need monty back into the squad and seeing that u didn't get a bonus point it really sucks cause u've only lost 2 games but ull be out of the top 4 by the end of the weekend coz u guys only have like 1 bonus pt shame really
Q-TIP March 31st, 2007, 04:11 AM ^^ Strange considering i recall the sharks had the most bonus points last year, 10, and still missed out on semi-final action (5th). The Brumbies (6th) only had 4 bonus points last year and missed out coz of bonus points, despite winning more than Bulls and Sharks...
I did say this week will test SA teams...2 away losses so far this round...make that 4 losses this week!
Durbsboi April 2nd, 2007, 10:47 AM Fuckm besides Monty, we need to go back to our old playing style, keep it tight, not start throwing the ball around, BACK TO BASICS MUIR< BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!
hsark April 4th, 2007, 02:53 PM man we lost this weekend 2 atleast we're home now hope the sharks beat the reds by a bonus point and same goes for the lions vs stormers(lions 2 win) sharks 4 home semi and bulls and lions for 4th place
Durbsboi April 5th, 2007, 10:34 AM Its a must win for the Sharks this weekend, & they have no excuse, no jet lag, no "getting used to the conditions" they are are much more stronger side than the Reds & must make them pay! 5 pointer
Durbsboi April 7th, 2007, 08:23 PM FUCK ME, 9 TRIES! I JUS SAW THE 1ST HALF! I MISSED 7 TRIES! DAMN!
hsark April 8th, 2007, 05:04 PM lucky bastard i missed the whole match... OH! but whats this its a PVR DECODER oh yeah! 10pts! i love technology
Durbsboi April 10th, 2007, 11:24 AM ^^Bitch, I still got Dual view, they should have free upgrade for me, nice to see we sitting pwitty in 3rd, Crusaders over took us! who would have thought after the start they had
hsark April 10th, 2007, 05:00 PM its called bonus points bru look @ the chiefs
Durbsboi April 11th, 2007, 10:29 AM ^^ i know , I know, hence I was pissed we were not getting any at the start of the season
Durbsboi April 13th, 2007, 01:40 PM Big test for the Sharks this weekend, facing the Blues, not sure if Monty is fully fit, but AJ is not playing, he got the flu & a calf problem, so expect to see Bobby come into his position as a sub.
Q-TIP April 14th, 2007, 01:07 PM Wow Sharks beat the Blues 32-25. Must say Sharks looked in control for most of the match. Meanwhile, the Crusaders are back, beating the Highlanders 5 tries to nil. And the Force continued their slide down the ladder losing 36-64 to the Chiefs at Hamilton. 100 points scored in the match:) :) First time this season...i think
dysan1 April 14th, 2007, 05:38 PM Well done sharkies!! last two weeks you have really come out guns blazing.
I personally believe that the only teams still in the competition (besides the Sharks, Blues and Crusaders) are the Chiefs, Bulls and Brumbies.
The force are on the way out and the others dont look semi material.
THe chiefs still need to face the Sharks and Crusaders.
The Brumbies need to face the Crusaders
And the Bulls have the Blues to deal with.
The Brumbies and Chiefs can potentially do the sharks a favour by knocking the crusaders. Of the 2 i think the brumbies have the better chance of doing so. We all saw how the Crusaders nearly lost to the cellar dweller Waratahs 2 weeks back, so i reckon the Brumbies can do them in. Here's hoping anyway!
As for the Sharks. The chiefs is a big one. While the chiefs are sitting well on the log, i really dont think they deserve to be there and arent nearly a great side. With only 4 wins they dont scream good. Also, they have not performed well against the good teams. I see it being a good game, but not as hard a game as one would expect.
Durbsboi April 16th, 2007, 10:39 AM Saw the sharks game, they played brilliantly! Steyn keeps on shocking the crowds with the 55m drop goals.
Dissapointed with the silly mistakes we made at the end, & we should have scored a 4th try. On the whole it was a good performance.
I heard Rassie ahs resigned as coach of the Cheetah's & will be heading with the bok camp to France, as a Technical Assistant.
Martsbra April 16th, 2007, 11:49 AM oi wei
dysan1 April 16th, 2007, 08:57 PM he has not resigned. merely taking a few months from the cheetahs for sa duty and sa rugby are paying free state for his services
Durbsboi April 17th, 2007, 09:42 AM oh ok, well then the news I heard it full of shit
hsark April 17th, 2007, 03:35 PM odwa played well 2 excellent win for the sharks we'll go one better and smash the blues @ loftus cause we're the masters of the kicking game esp. with hougie and big vic + bakkies
Durbsboi April 18th, 2007, 10:13 AM Yeh, will have to see how they do when they travel, so far at home they WERE pretty good
GregPz April 18th, 2007, 05:25 PM Anyone listen to 5fm the other day where they had a poll on which team has the best looking cheerleaders. Shark girls were the winners with 62% of the vote :cheer:
Durbsboi April 19th, 2007, 11:17 AM ^^Damn right we got the best!

Bud come join for the Lions game...we'll knock back a drink or 20! what ya say
dysan1 April 20th, 2007, 12:48 AM Here's hoping the sharkies do us proud!! What be ideal if the stormers could beat the blues, but thats wishful thinking and has like 1% chance of happening.
I reckon lions could skrik the bulls...will be interesting.
But i'm looking forward to next week when the Crusaders start to face the brumbies and the chiefs thereafter...if either win (i'm thinking the brumbies have a chance playing in canberra and all) then thats even better for the sharkies!!
Durbsboi April 20th, 2007, 10:39 AM ^^ And DB is number one supporter!!
Bud come join for the Lions game...we'll knock back a drink or 20! what ya say
Wouldnt mind Mikey, but thats the long weekend, Im going to be in East London on buisness :ohno:
dysan1 April 20th, 2007, 12:56 PM Long weekend = Business trip? thats a shocker!! Its potentially our last home game!!!!! If we get a home semi you better move your ass to the stadium, for the drink will be waiting...and it will be a double
Durbsboi April 20th, 2007, 01:05 PM ^^yeh, it was the only time we could go do the testing! pissed off about it, but we charging double :D
For sure, if we get a home semi, Im there!
Durbsboi April 21st, 2007, 07:52 PM saw the 1st half of the sharks game. they played like crap, i thought we were going to get another thumping, but I see they turned things around nicely in the 2nd half. although i feel that if we had atleast scored a try in the 1st half, things would have been much different. We had the chances, just didnt take them.
and now for the shocker of the weekend, THE ST0RMERS BEAT THE BLUES!
dysan1 April 29th, 2007, 10:58 PM Ok so the sharks are now in 2nd spot, 1 point behind the Crusaders!! So all that stands between us and a home semi are the Stormers. A win there and then its back to Durban the following week. If only the Chiefs could break the Crusaders 26 in a row victories at home run and then we can finish top!
Durbsboi April 30th, 2007, 10:36 AM ^^Saw the highlights at the hotel, so glad to be back in Durbs, picked up a cold on the trip! I hate those dumb ass propella planes that Airlink fly to EL!!!
Sharks played freeken well, hows that storm we had in the game! hectic with the hail & stuff, glad to see we got the 5 points. I hope Chiefs win next week, then we finish top with a chance of a home semi, it will be the 1st time ever!

Go Sharks !!!!!
Q-TIP May 3rd, 2007, 05:36 PM With one week to go its 2 NZ and 2 SA teams in the top 4:bash: After watching the Force and Cheetahs game last friday, i was impressed with what i saw, but not enough to make the top 4.
My (bias) tips:
Force v Blues
Crusaders v Chiefs
Highlanders v Brumbies
Hurricanes v Waratahs
Lions v Cheetahs
Stormers v Sharks
Bulls v Reds
Durbsboi May 4th, 2007, 10:11 AM ^^lol., well Im predicting a tought game at Newlands, those sleepy heads finally woke up & realised they needed to play rugby, it will be close, but if Dicky did his home work, we could get another fiver, I hope the Chiefs do us a favour & beat the crusaders, that will be awesome to think that we could have a home final!
dysan1 May 4th, 2007, 01:13 PM Well thank you chiefs!! A win and the Sharkies top the log! now thats what we need!!
dysan1 May 4th, 2007, 01:17 PM With one week to go its 2 NZ and 2 SA teams in the top 4:bash: After watching the Force and Cheetahs game last friday, i was impressed with what i saw, but not enough to make the top 4.

Durbsboi May 4th, 2007, 02:25 PM SADER'S LOST!!!!!!!! WE CAN FINISH TOP IF WE SMASH THEM STORMERS
dysan1 May 4th, 2007, 06:07 PM we better
SA BOY May 5th, 2007, 06:03 AM if sharkies beat mountain goats then a home semi-possibly against bulls and a home final
Q-TIP May 5th, 2007, 02:40 PM Yay the tahs won something:banana:
Could this be the year a south african super rugby franchise wins the title?!:ohno:
Well, the Sharks can top the table, and im hoping for the Reds to upset the Bulls in Pretoria, so the Brumbies can make it. pleassssse, dont be greedy, at least one australian team to make the semis.
Durbsboi May 5th, 2007, 08:10 PM TOP OF THE FUCKEN LOG PEOPLE!!! What a game, I would have given my left nut to go to that game (okay, I dont think I would) but what a flippin game. JP for all the handling errors you made earlier in the competition, you have certainly made up for it! HOME SEMI, lets wait and see who we get!
Mo Rush May 5th, 2007, 10:15 PM Two home semis! oh my.
dysan1 May 5th, 2007, 10:54 PM Yeah, what a win for the Bulls. massive score. i thought they would have gone for the win and 4th place so they didnt have to travel to NZ, but they went one better and got their own semi final! good on them!
As for my Sharkies, WELL DONE BOYS on being the FIRST South African Super rugby team to top the log!!
Here's hoping for a Sharks vs Bulls Final in Durban!!
Mo Rush May 5th, 2007, 11:48 PM its almost unreal that the top two teams are from RSA and none of the SA teams were in last place
Nixx_900816 May 6th, 2007, 02:55 AM well well well...this is good...i personally fink the bulls r stronger than the sharks and they look unbeatable at loftus...eventhough i kinda hate 'em...and i wish they would start playin sumfin else than LiEfLiNg for a change!!! but gud luck to them and the sharks aswell!! :D
Q-TIP May 6th, 2007, 07:39 AM Oh shit. No aussie teams in the semis:bash: Reds are useless. A good year for the SA teams in the super rugby...time will if this form can be carried through til October:ohno:
dysan1 May 6th, 2007, 10:47 PM ^^ super 14 and world are very much unrelated. The nz teams have dominated super rugby but fail every world cup.
lets hope sa can change that.
as for the bulls, good win, but crap opponent. this week is their first proper challenge. lets see how they do. got my tickets for sharks already...its gonna be huge
Durbsboi May 7th, 2007, 10:30 AM You not going to believe this, I got to go for a wedding on Saturday! :bash:
Im soo bummed Im going to miss us giving the Blues a hiding, BUT Im gona be there for the final!
Face it, Reds were shit, thats why Bulls smashed them badly, Bulls rugby is just smash, smash smash score, they hardly have any good tactics, if it does come down to an all SA final, which would be great, I think the Sharks will beat them AGAIN, because of our tactic's. & it will be by a bigger margin than the start of the season, JP has hit form, & Barrit, Murray & Konkowski all jelling so perfectly in the center, Styen is a master & ol Percy his becoming a legend!
hsark May 8th, 2007, 04:00 PM 93-3 the bulls alway the way cant wait 2 hammer the sharkies in the final lol :)
hsark May 8th, 2007, 04:03 PM ps u forgot butch james and aj u need some hardmen 2 balance out the team they've also played bloody well
dysan1 May 8th, 2007, 05:14 PM Sharks game was sold out in 3 hours on monday!! The Bulls is also a sell out now.
Durbsboi May 8th, 2007, 05:52 PM Well it aint entirely sold out, maybe it is now :dunno:
Fans flocking for tickets
Posted on Tuesday, May 08, 2007 - 13:46
Season and match ticket sales have been brisk the past two days for the Vodacom Super 14 semi-final between the Sharks and Blues at The Absa Stadium Durban this Saturday as Durbanites especially, but also large numbers of people and groups from around the country, flock to get their hands on a limited number of tickets before the "Full-house" signs go up.
As of 2pm on Tuesday (today 8 May), there were an estimated 5000 tickets remaining - the Stadium capacity is 52 000.
A few smart people cottoned onto the fact that a Season Ticket, at the reduced price, would be excellent value for money if purchased right now, and the right deal could mean the difference between a free season of Currie Cup action.
Taking into account the prices of a semi-final, possible final, and the Vodacom Tri Nations Test match between South Africa and New Zealand, a Season Ticket bought this week would have meant free entry to all the Currie Cup action in Durban, for the price of the three aforementioned matches!
Phones have been ringing off the hook and emails have been furiously written to organise tickets, payment, flights and accomodation! The Sharks' B&B guide, a service to those supporters who travel from out of town, are all booked up for the local Indaba taking place this weekend, but fans will make a plan.
If you hurry, Essenwood House has a few rooms left: email info@essenwoodhouse.co.za, and The Boathouse can also help but also with limited availability, email admin@boathouse.co.za
The Durbs.co.za website has an accomodation guide for those who are stuck, please visit: http://www.durbs.co.za/website/index.aspx?http://www.durbs.co.za/website/dc.aspx?id=4
With perfect weather planned for the weekend, the tour groups from Gauteng and the rest of the country will bring fans to Africa's playground where rugby, fun and sun await them
Its going to be awesome seeing the Tank in a sell out crowd for the sharks, it hasnt been for a while now!

dysan1 May 9th, 2007, 12:49 AM i'm a bit confused then DB because mates of mine went to get tickets yesterday afternoon and could not get any for there was a sign up saying that tickets were sold out...
Anyway, good to see all the semi final teams in Durban, bar the bulls.
Crusaders are practising at Crawford La Lucia.
Sharks at Kings Park outer fields.
Blues at Glenwood High.
Go take a peak if you can!!
I'm very surprised they managed to find hotel rooms tho, cos the city is already jam packed with indaba arrivals.
Durbsboi May 9th, 2007, 10:31 AM ^^Hey I aint complaining, as long as its sold out, take some pics when you go Mikey! I'll have to settle to watch the highlights channel, maybe I should pop in for the after party, after the wedding :D
dysan1 May 9th, 2007, 02:32 PM or watch the game while at the wedding!! most people sleep during those things anyway
Durbsboi May 10th, 2007, 11:36 AM I dont have a TV cell phone :( so will have to settle for cometary on the radio, that should keep me awake, you dont know indian weddings Mike, they can go on FOREVER!
In other news, todays Mercury's front page
Blues expect great atmosphere
There are still 4 000 tickets available for Saturday's Super 14 semi-final match between the Sharks and the Blues at Durban's Absa Stadium on Saturday.....
Still 4000 tickets left! C'mon Durban! you making us look bad! in Pta all the tickets were sold out in 5hours!!!!!
Nixx_900816 May 10th, 2007, 10:40 PM durban hasn't been famous for having big crowds at stadiums...loftus and newlands on the other hand have been.
Durbsboi May 11th, 2007, 09:45 AM ^^Are you crazy, back in the 90's after our double currie cup win & finals appearances in the super 12, Kings Park was always full! Its just after our formed dropped & we had a bad patch then Kevin domPutt took over & made things worse, but I can see things on a up, & Dick is restoring faith in the Sharks faithfull & I hope soon we will see full houses again, even for currie cup games
Durbsboi May 11th, 2007, 12:28 PM Muir names unchanged line-up
It is not only about momentum and continuity, but also rewarding the players who have done the job for the past three months' duration of the tournament, together with some good fortune and excellent player and injury management that Dick Muir has been able to name an unchanged side from that which beat the Stormers last week as the Sharks prepare for their Vodacom Super 14 semi final against the Blues, taking place at The Absa Stadium Durban on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
Deon Carstens is not a hundred percent certainty, but has been named to start and has until the last minute to prove his fitness. Should he fail a late fitness test, Tendai "Beast" Mtawarira will start in his place, with Patric Cilliers coming onto the bench. Bradley Barritt is also given until the last possible moment, but should he be forced to pull out, Adrian Jacobs (pictured) will take his place in the starting line-up, and Odwa Ndungane will wear the Number 22 jersey.
In a knock-out game, the aim is to win, purely and simply. It might be a one point margin, or 20 points. It doesn't matter. "As a coach, all you are looking for is the result," explains Dick Muir. "We have been mindful of the way we play and what needs to be done to win, and although Bonus Points don't come in into the reckoning, we will go out in search of tries."
Muir believes that there are a number of similarities between the two sides which should make for a close, if not interesting, contest. "We have similar styles: they are a very physical side as well and they can move the ball around a bit too."
He does admit that there is going to be pressure on the Sharks to perform in front of a home crowd, one that will number around 52 000 (with a sprinkling of Blues' fans for good measure). "Playing at home means there is more pressure on us, but there is also a certain expectation in New Zealand where the Blues have led the tournament for probably 70% of the time. They were the in-form side this year, and the pressure is on to see whether they can continue that way or not.
"There is pressure on both sides; they would want to get one back on us, with us having beaten them, so it is going to be a wonderful game of rugby."
He admitted that there is a huge amount of anticipation in the camp; "We are excited, it's something we have worked really hard on for a long time. This all started in October, so it will be just reward for the people involved, as well as the entire squad that we can give something back to our supporters who have stuck with us through thick and thin. The opportunity to play in a semi-final is a great honour for both sides, it's going to be about opportunities and converting them, and most certainly it will be a spectacle for the spectators."

Durbsboi May 14th, 2007, 02:27 PM Sold Out
The “Full-House” signs were up at 10.15am, less than two hours after ticket sales for the historic Vodacom Super 14 final at The Absa Stadium Durban had gone on sale.
Such was the demand on the Computicket website, that users experienced difficulty purchasing tickets as everyone wanted to get their hands on limited seats for the all South African final between the Sharks and Bulls.
Sadly, many people who had spent the night in the queue had to be turned away, their wait of little consequence in the end as they came away from their vigil empty-handed.
While the Sharks’ supporters were out in numbers, the Bulls supporters had managed to get there as well to get their hands on tickets.
Jannie Horn queued from11pm on Sunday night hoping to secure 10 tickets. “I hope we are going to kick butt, we should win by at least 25 points to 10,” he said. “The Blues game was absolutely fantastic, we were here and partied till the early hours of the morning.”
Pieter de Wet from Bloemfontein arrived at 1.30am, wearing a Blue shirt but swearing his allegiance to the home side, although he stated that his support was actually, “With so many Free State players in the Sharks team, I am supporting Free State. Well the Sharks.” However, his score prediction was 25-13 to the Bulls! At 2.30am, Gareth du Plessis arrived for the long wait. “It’s been worth it,” he declared. “Sharks all the way, the final score will be about 28-18 to the Sharks, but it will be a very close game.”
Hannes Bester, a Bulls’ supporter stood in the queue from 3.30am. “We got here nice and early, had a braai at 5am, and we are really excited about the game,” he explained. “It hasn’t really been all that festive in the queue, people have been a bit quiet, but it’s picking up. Plenty of drinking – coffee that is.”
Mike Gosling had been on the go from 4am. “We support the right team and it’s been good fun here, meeting new people. My score prediction is that the Sharks are going to knock them into oblivion, easy! The Bulls couldn’t score any tries on Saturday, so I say 21-6 to the Sharks.”
Working students Ryan and Glenda came at 4.30 for 10 tickets. “We are going to thrash them!” said Ryan admitting that this is the first game of the season they will be attending.
Mandy, another Bulls supporter (although she lives in Durban) arrived later, at 4.30am. “The score will be 40-21 to the Bulls,” she said, admitting that, “Everyone around me has been nice, no-one has given me a hard time about supporting the Bulls.”
Willie left home at 4.30am from Illovo Beach. He admitted that, “It doesn’t matter what the score-line is, we will beat them. It’s going to be a very good game though.”
Ah damn! I didnt get tickets!!!!!!!!
Umhlanga May 14th, 2007, 05:08 PM Have they announced a start time for Saturday's match? One of our good friends has a 2:30 wedding in Glenashley. If the match conflicts with that, I wonder if the church will be somewhat empty due to a sudden flu epidemic.
hsark May 14th, 2007, 05:40 PM my blood is blue sorry durbsboi the sharks are a class act but ur going to get smashed on sat

Shark Tank Packed to Capacity
Posted on Monday, May 14, 2007 - 16:04
Who would have thought, or believed rather two years ago, that The Absa Stadium Durban would be sold out a week before a match – 54 000 seats! How can we ever try to explain to loyal passionate fans that there are simply no seats left in the stadium for sale.
How is everyone thanked for the ongoing support? “The only way is to deliver a trophy, and I can assure you that the Sharks will be going all out to do just that this Saturday”, says Coach Dick Muir and Sharks management and players.
“We will never forget our passionate Sharks fans who have lifted us game after game. Those loyal supporters who have filled the stadium seats match after match, growing in confidence with every win, relentless in commitment. This season has certainly been about what’s in the boot. The men who fill them today, and the men who will fill them tomorrow”, echoes Brian van Zyl, Sharks CEO.
Today Monday 14 May, The Absa Stadium Durban was sold out for the 2007 Super 14 Final by 11am. Thanks to a season of awesome rugby, we sit on the pinnacle of a Sharks and South African Rugby record, not to mention the few already under the belt as of Saturday. Every single ticket is sold out. What a wonderful position to be in / problem? I hope not for any loyal fan who wants the best for The Sharks! Those selfsame passionate supporters who have swelled in numbers and snapped up every available ticket – we salute you.
“We understandably have a few disgruntled fans, who have been unable to get Super 14 final tickets. We apologise if you have stood in queues, in the hot sun, and come away empty handed. But we have no doubt that you will share in this incredible moment with your favourite sons of rugby.
“What needs to be understood is that the season ticket office at The Absa stadium Durban is, and was not the only outlet for ticket sales. To accommodate sponsors, suite-holders, and the general public, the sale of tickets was spread a lot wider.
In addition to the ticket office, tickets were sold out of the Sharks administration offices, Computicket nationally, by our own staff, management, players, Woodburn Pietermaritzburg and hospitality. Tickets were also allocated to sponsors, SA Rugby and the Bulls who attract a fair amount of travelling support.
No rough calculation can begin to understand the wide infrastructure that saw 23 416 additional tickets enter the public domain in a matter of a few hours. Add our 15 000 season tickets, 12 300 to suite-holders and a further ± 4 000 sold to stake-holders, supporters clubs, players and sponsors and it is easy to see why it is a sell out! Remember ticket touting is not in the spirit of the game, so please report any activity and be aware of forgeries.
There is no doubt there are many ardent fans who must be kicking themselves for not purchasing season tickets throughout the season. This would have guaranteed a Super 14 final ticket, the Test match against the All Blacks and of course the Currie Cup. Don’t be in the same position again. From the players, management and coaching staff at The Sharks, we extend a massive Thank You and we know everyone will be wearing Sharks gear on Saturday, no matter where you watch the game.

That will be one neglected wedding. But the groom is a true sports fan, so he'll understand. The bride, however....
Go Sharks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hsark May 15th, 2007, 04:53 PM Three rugby fans were on their way to a game when one noticed a foot
sticking out of the bushes by the side of the road.
They stopped and discovered an unconscious, nude woman. Out of respect,
the Stormers fan took off his cap and placed it over her right breast.
The Sharks fan took off his cap and placed it over her left breast.
Following their lead, the Bulls fan took off his cap and placed over her
nether region.
The police were called and when the officer arrived, he conducted his
investigation.
First, he lifted up the Stormers cap, looked, replaced it and wrote down
a few notes.
Next, he lifted up the Sharks cap, looked, replaced it and wrote down
some more notes.
Then he lifted up the Bulls cap, looked, replaced it, scratched his
head, lifted it again and looked, replaced it, thought for a minute
then lifted it again and finally replaced it before writing down some
notes.
The Stormers fan was getting a little upset and asked, “What are you, a
pervert or something!
“I’m simply surprised. Normally when I look under a Bulls cap I find an
asshole.”
