coldstar February 3rd, 2007, 09:15 AM I had seen in a documentary an island in Japan in which people love ancient Greek architecture and have decorated the island with ancient Greek buildings ,columns ,walls etc.
I think it's Syodoshima Is. in Seto Inland Sea.
It has a sister city relationship with Minos Is. in Aegean Sea.
Syodoshima is famous for olive tress and produces good quality extra virgin olive oil.

MikeTheGreek February 3rd, 2007, 11:55 AM yeah right that' what i was talking about!:)
slawek15 February 3rd, 2007, 07:49 PM Ancient?
Well excuse me, but it's far from being ancient. It only LOOKS ancient.
It's one of the things I don't like about Japan (well, not only about Japan) - coping buildings, architecture that simply doesn't fit in there!
But anyway, that's just my humble opinion...
coldstar February 4th, 2007, 12:33 AM hmm, there're too many copy towns in Japan, for example, Holland Villages (Huis Ten Bosch, etc.), Spanish village (Parque Espana), Denmark village (Tivoli Park), Russian village, German villages, Little Italy's (Citta Italia, etc), Scandinabian village, Swiss village, Portugal village.many Canadian villages (even little Prince Edward Is.) .. too many copy towns here and there.

Some are theme parks, and some are resorts.
British Hills
Well, this is one of the copy villages built for the education of school kids, run by an academic judical person. Guys, what do you feel about this?
As school trip, it's so common for the Japanese students to learn English from the British staffs here, stay a few nights in monor houses and experience British way of life here,
location; Fukushima Pre. 2 hrs from Tokyo by shinkansen

Top Gear February 5th, 2007, 01:54 AM The British village seems stereotypical (look at the 2 mini coopers and the tudor architecture) It also reminds me of a maid cafe.
The PEI village is pretty realistic imo.
This is all rather surprising and funny to me.
coldstar February 5th, 2007, 12:44 PM Actually, many of replica villages are suffering from a slam in business.
These are facing management crisis. or already went bankrupt.
