Comments at Curbed tend to focus on how bad the 'hood is now rather than on its assets and future. It is true that if you take a poor neighborhood and just make it denser, you're just converting LA ghettoes to NY ghettoes. But the Westlake area seems to be gentrifying, not just densifying so it will be interesting to see how much additional development follows and this one stay clean and safe.

i live close to the area and it seems safe to me (compared to what it has been in the past) but the sidewalks are definately crowded and the area really needs housing projects with 200-500 units of affordable housing.
