I love its soaring mass which looks pretty powerful and monolithic.
The horizontal rows of windows do look a bit tiring and impersonal though. Seen from afar, its impressive nevertheless.

6.5/10 - The indentations in the tower make it livelier than a box, and might allow some play of light and shadow, it has fairly good height, and the facade can dance with the light...

BUT - It's a bit chunky, and the rows of horizontal window strips don't work that well, for some reason - maybe there should be a bit more contrast between glass and stone.

And the roof isn't that impressive either - as if the architect had run out of ideas...

Looks to brtalist for my liking. A lighter shade would do wonders? 6/10.

I like the tower's shape, very impressive looking.

Well it certainly towers over its neighbours. And the shape is quite interesting.

My only complaint is that the brown/rust colour seems a bit 1980s and dated.

My father works on the second highest floor I think its the 50th floor amazing view. But the outside is very average kind of boring but being the tallest building in the city I live in it gets a 9.

Ugly elsewhere, but fits (if not defines) the Calgary skyline well. I give it an 8/10. :okay:

I like the tower and it's shorter twin, Kinda gives Calgary developers a goal to topple. strong and dynamic, much like the people of Calgary. A current iconic structure.Yeah simple, but the simple lines were used well in design.Color contrasts the rest of the downtown core...a 9.

Never really cut if for me; the facade is too dark, the windows are ugly, and the building is a bit boxy. On the other hand, it is rather intimidating and just impressive and bulky.

yah. a realy, realy big assed brown one. i like this scraper. i remember when the crane broke off. i lived in bridgeland at the time. i was about 14. i can remember that the operator was killed in the accedent as well. the next day it was just hanging there on the side of the petro. :uh:

Sun Life Plaza. I live in Calgary. There is going to be a new skyscraper for Calgary that will surpass this building. Encana's new HQ called "The Bow" designed by Foster and Partners. It will stand at 59 stories and be the tallest skyscraper west of Toronto.

But speaking of the Petro Canada Center, I think the facade and windows should have went with a blue or green tint because the red is quite repulsive. But for it being Calgary's tallest, I give it a 8/10

Sorry but this colour coupled with International style is a sure recipe for a bad grade with me. This one goes slightly out of its way with its shape and setbacks, but that doesn't quite save it.
