I have had an interesting correspondence with Richard Lynn about Israeli IQ. He notes that Israelis of European origin (Ashkenazim) have an average IQ of about the European norm (100) whereas Israelis from the Arab lands (Sephardim) have the quite low average IQ of 88.

What does that say about Arab IQ? Seeing that those Jews who are racially mainly Arab ought to be at least no less intelligent than the parent Arab population, it suggests to me that Arabs in general are pretty low on intelligence.

I take the comment about Arab intelligence with a grain of salt because I'm laughing just as hard at the Polish IQ being so high.... the younger generation certainly doesn't show it :lol: All personal bias aside, I was expecting the IQ from the Arab countries to be higher than what they are, especially the Lebanese IQ, although I can finally brag about Phoenicia being older than the Greeks :D Thanks lebgurl :hug:

hummm sefardim are from european origin also, u know from the spanish peninsula, i think what u are trying to say are mizrahim jews, those are the ones with arab origin

I found another source where Ashkenazi Israelis get 105, Sefaradim/Mizrahim average 91, Israeli arabs 85 (cited as ME average).

Another finding says that it is very education dependent since when Ashkenazi and Mizrahi Jews are both raised in a Kibbutz, they found that both had an average IQ of 115.


This means only one thing - education and culture of education influence intelligence...

IQ tests are no longer reliable ... ESPECIALLY online ones.
If you want a descent estimate of your intelligence at ur age (past the ages of 2-5), then go to a psychologist and have them run tests on u (not worth it). Your school probably gave you some at a young age, so go check those because they're the most reliable ones

I agree with lebgurl, but the one Giladist posted was the most reliable online one imo, seems the most credible. Going back to check the tests in school is a good idea. The IQ tests just measure cognitive ability, so it would be kind of nice to go to a psychologist and find out how your cognitive development's been going too :cheers:

That's easy - in Western countries you sample people from the local universities, in non-Western countries you take the average person from the street :lol:

Kidding. Seriously, there's a whole area of research on how to do representative sampling from a large population (e.g. Simple random sampling, Stratified sampling, Cluster sampling, Quota sampling are the major ones) see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sampling_(statistics)

And by the way, all countries are prone to sampling errors (usually within a certain margin), so if they were so prevalent they would equally effect other countries, such as china/HK or Western countries, which is clearly not the case (you can actually see pretty clear clustering here).

Btw, if I were to dispute IQ tests I would probably say that they test for specific competencies that are not necessarily equivalent to being smart.
