FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk
This is one of the arenas for the Euro 2012 championship. 31,000 seats (some sources say 34,000) To be finished this year. It will, besides everything else, have two 60 square meters large TV screens on the sides, which are usually placed for only 50-60k stadiums.

skaP187 February 4th, 2007, 05:49 PM Is it an idea to make an 'Ukrainian 'Stadium Thread'?
There are some real nice stadiums in Ukraine. And like you told yourself, there are a lot of developments going on?
Would love to see them all together!
VelesHomais February 5th, 2007, 01:03 AM ^^ I wanted to make a separate thread for Donetsk stadium, so I don't know if it should all be merged into a single unified thread.
skaP187 February 5th, 2007, 03:07 PM I don't know if there are more planns or nice stadiums in Ukraine (personaly I like Dinamo Kiev also, I don't know why, because it is ugly as hell, but damn it's an impressive 100 000 cap)
Maybe if you put the stadiums together, the thread/topic stays longer up in the list, because more people are interested!

Irish Blood English Heart April 26th, 2007, 03:05 AM With all of the Polish cities wanting bigger stadiums (Lodz and Poznan saying 50k and Krakow, Katowice etc getting in on the act) and also Kharkiv and Odessa wanting to host games, do you think this stadium will end up being big enough for Euro 2012 as it will be much smaller then the rest?
Still its very nice, is it expandable?

50k stadium would be too much for Dnipropetrovsk, because after the Euro-2012 it would be difficult to fill it all up. Plus, it's being built by a single investor, who probably doesn't want to spend more money than needed. This size of stadium, is perfectly standard for a Euro championship. It's going to be a very comfortable, cozy, high standard arena.
Yes, it can be expanded to a capacity of 45.000

The stadium is nice, but isn't the minimum size for Euro and Worldcup stadiums at least 40,000 seats?
VelesHomais May 25th, 2007, 01:57 AM No. Most Euro are 30k stadiums.

Agreed. If it was in England I would probably hate the team playing there after seeing way too many Pride Parks and Walkers Stadiums... but just being in Dniepropietrowsk makes it better.
There's more coming in Bratislava, Varna and Bucuresti from what I know, plus many Russian coming up :) so Central and Eastern Europe is growing :)

gincan September 13th, 2007, 02:36 PM Nice stadium but pillars that obstruct the view belong to the past, I'd rather have a stadium without a roof than a stadium with one and a ugly pole in front of me when i go to watch a game.
VelesHomais September 14th, 2007, 12:21 AM well, I'm not an engineer or an architect, so I don't know what they are for, but either way blame the Germans if it's something unnecessary, they designed it.
Benn September 14th, 2007, 01:56 AM Those columns carry the weight down into the primary supports (structural concrete) which are not located at the bak of the bowl, but about or 6 rows in, which is a more structurally There is a similar solutions at the Metrodome in Minneapolis (1982), where the bowl extends 6 rows past the back columns, and the supports for the bracing ring for the dome follows those columns, giving it about 1,500 obstructed views in the last 5 rows.

It's like a 3 sided stadium.
http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s16/MaksKhomenko/_MG_1087.jpg
VelesHomais November 21st, 2007, 04:00 AM It's a VIP oriented arena, that's one of its main features, 1000 VIP seats. You can have a lots of Presidents and Prime Ministers watching the game together. Otherwise it would have been a 45,000 stadium, but that's not needed in Dnipro as of yet.
Quintana November 21st, 2007, 02:45 PM Those VIP sections keep the tickets for the other seats affordable for normal people. They might not be pretty but they are a necessary evil.
RobH November 21st, 2007, 03:44 PM I agree but you rarely see one that so dominates the design of a stadium. That really is bizarre.

El Vampiro Ucraniano April 13th, 2008, 11:06 PM I am not sure about the number of suites, but a total capacity of VIP lounge will be 1000. Which is pretty big for a stadium it's size.

VelesHomais June 19th, 2008, 06:50 PM Why don't they wrote also "Dnipropetrovsk" into the seats?
Nobody says Dnipropetrovsk, it's a long and artificial name of the city. It has alternative historical names: Yekaterynoslav, Sicheslav, Kodak. But they're all controversial and disputable, so everyone in Ukraine calls this city simply Dnipro or Dnepr.

masterpaul September 30th, 2008, 05:33 PM I read today that UEFA complains that the stadium has 28k instead of 31k seats and that they will need to add seats. Is this information true?
They needed to take out a few thousands seats due to the stage at one side.
ewild September 30th, 2008, 06:14 PM According to Football Federation of Ukraine president G.Surkis, Dnipro Arena has 31,000 gross and 28,000 net capacity by now, while UEFA standard for Euro is minimum 30,000 net. So arena needs 2,000 more net (for usual pay-and-watch audience).
By G.Surkis, the decision is in seats width - to replace current 50 cm seats with 45 cm ones.
www.sercan.de September 30th, 2008, 06:37 PM wow
45cm is european standard
50cm is even big for NFL standard (47-50cm) :D
mihai_alex October 2nd, 2008, 01:52 PM By doing a quick math 5 centimeters less for seat would rase the capacity by 3111 seats,to a total of 31000,according to the initial project.
