LONDON, February 8 (IranMania) - Managing director of Tehran Municipality’s Beautification Organization said that the first phase of the project to renovate Azadi Square will be implemented from April, CHN reported.
Public Relations Office of Tehran Municipality quoted Hojjatollah Molla-Salehi as saying that under the project, Azadi Square will be redesigned in the form of Chahar-Bagh Square in Isfahan.
“Tehranis can see another Chahar-Bagh in Tehran once the project is complete,“ he said.
Stating that the project will be implemented in cooperation with Municipality of District 9, the first phase of the project, which will take six months to complete, includes repairing pavestones, creating fixed lighting systems, redesigning surrounding areas as well as developing green spaces.
Molla-Salehi put the cost of the project at more than 30 bln rials and said that the area surrounding the Azadi Tower will be expanded in the second phase of the project.
The project pertains to the square alone and no changes will be made on the tower itself, he concluded.
