advantages - employment, cheaper fare, environment friendly ky walay pollution, good alternative transpo in times of oil crisis :bash:
disadvantages - health and traffic hazard , not efficient mode of transpo :bash:

blue let me add door-to-door delivery sa pasahero... ahaha well, at least compared sa jeep if ever...

so walay halin mga gas stations diha kay trisikad ra man mode of transpo, di sad mahalinan eduhome, desmark and other dealers of motorcycle , pero i like ozamiz , its a seaside city with laidback lifestyle

not really romix kay naa man pod mga motor para sa mga layo nga barangay... and daghan pod naay motor single... dayon daghan man pod dato na naay cars...

Speaking of trisikad, naa diay Trisikad race last sunday from city hall to public mall. 180 trisikad drivers nag-apil. only licensed driver, franchised unit with uniform sa driver ang gipa-apil sa race. cash prizes ug 1 brand new trisikad unit ang premyo. Si Egay Echavez ang nag-organize sa race :)

SuperFerry 5 relaunched with upgraded facilities
By EDU LOPEZ
January 28, 2010, 3:00pm
http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/uu101/blueleo101/Superferry_5.gif

SuperFerry brings back SuperFerry5 with upgraded vessel facilities to give passengers a better travel experience onboard.

The renovation comprised of new bunk beds, new bunk layout for better ventilation, upgraded toilet and bath fixtures, bigger baggage area, new air-conditioning system and three renovated function rooms for groups that require space to conduct activities on-board.

SuperFerry strives to maintain and upgrade its vessel facilities for the comfort of its passengers. The vessel will be serving the Manila, Cebu, Dumaguete, Bacolod, Ozamiz and Iligan routes.

SuperFerry offers year-round tripid fares. A ticket from Manila to Visayas (vice versa) now sells for P750; while a ticket from Manila to Mindanao (vice versa) now sells for P1,150. Fares are inclusive of fuel surcharge, security fee and 12% VAT.

"After all charges are paid, SuperFerry fares remain substantially lower than other alternatives. On top of that, customers continue to have the benefit of a free baggage allowance up to 50 kilos. Book your trips early to enjoy bigger savings,” says Andrew Deyto, SuperFerry AVP for Sales & Marketing.

SuperFerry's free baggage allowance of up to 50 kilos is perfect for those who want to bring home boxes of pasalubong for their relatives.

Ticket delivery is available when you book through the SuperFerry hotline. However, ticket delivery is currently available only in Metro Manila and selected areas in Luzon.

Tickets can also be bought online via www.SuperFerry.com.ph. SuperFerry is the first carrier to accept ticket payments over the Internet using the ATM PIN.

3 election areas of concern in Northern Mindanao identified
By Annabelle L. Ricalde
SS-CDO, February 2, 2010

THE regional police office in Northern Mindanao has identified three municipalities and two provinces in Northern Mindanao tagged as possible election areas of concern.

Chief Supt. Danilo Empedrad, Northern Mindanao regional police director, said these areas include the municipalities of Claveria in Misamis Oriental, Baliangao and Sapang Dalaga in Misamis Occidental, and the provinces of Bukidnon and Lanao del Norte.

Empedrad said these election areas of concern are being classified into two categories: one, those which had high possibility of election-related violent incidents, and two, those with previous history of election-related incidents, intense political rivalries and presence of armed group particularly the New People’s Army.

He said Claveria and Bukidnon are classified under category 2 because of the presence of rebel insurgents who might be used in influencing the conduct of the elections.

Empedrad added Lanao del Norte also falls under category 2 because of previous histories of election-related incidents and the presence of armed groups that have been used against the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

In Misamis Occidental, Sapang Dalaga and Baliangao are also under category 2 due to intense political rivalries in these two areas.

Empedrad said the regional police office came out with the list based on the history of election-related violence during the past elections.

Meanwhile, lawyer Renato Magbutay, regional director of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), said Lanao del Norte being under the election watchlist is still subject for validation by the joint Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Comelec.

In Cagayan de Oro, Magbutay assured that despite the intense political rivalry between former Vice Mayor Vicente Emano and Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rolando Uy (1st district), who are both running for the mayoralty post, the city is not considered as an area of concern.

“That’s normal and Cagayan de Oro had no history of election-related incident,” he told reporters during the 19th anniversary of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

With this, Empedrad said Comelec, PNP and AFP in the region are closely monitoring these election areas of concern and strictly implementing security measures to ensure clean, honest and peaceful elections this May. (ALR)

Biyaheng Totoo explores RP's ten poorest provinces
MAVIE ALMEDA-UNGCO, CANDICE MONTENEGRO and ANALYN PEREZ, GMANews.TV
12/22/2009 | 01:53 AM

A 2006 study of the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) shows that 33 out of 100 Filipinos are considered poor. That means 27.6 million Pinoys did not make it beyond the national poverty threshold of 6,274 pesos (around 130 USD) per month, for a family of five.

Most of these struggling Pinoys live in the ten poorest provinces of the country, as published in the same NSCB study.

The ten poorest provinces (in order of poverty incidence) are Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga del Norte, Maguindanao, Apayao, Surigao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Northern Samar, Masbate, Abra and Misamis Occidental.

This list provided the itinerary for Biyaheng Totoo, where GMA news reporters embarked on a series of journeys that hoped to truthfully document the plight of those struggling to survive in the absence of government support.

Their stories are all contained in the Biyaheng Totoo notebook, where they wrote to the future president of the Philippines, telling him/her of their hopes and wishes. The notebook will eventually be handed over to the future president.

Sa akin lang, of all unemployed people in Ozamiz to be interviewed, net chatting fanatic pa ang interviewee na taga squatter area ng Ozamiz. undressing in front of the webcam daw siya. mabuti may nagtiyang manood pa sa kanya. but seriously this is sad reality. :bash: :ohno:

The Gaisano mall plans to develop the vacant lot beside the main mall first rather than the vacant lot at the back. The problem is that the they dont want to construct a bridge that would connect the new bldg and the main bldg. For them to construct the new bldg right beside the main mall, they have to transfer the road few meters from the mall and this would pose problem to the vehicular traffic going/from coastal road. i dont know ngano gusto nila itapad ang new mall sa main mall para wala nay bridge kuno.

if Gmall will stick to their originl plan of constructing the new bldg right beside the main mall and transfer the road a few meters from the main mall, they would have to conduct public hearing for this, coordinate with city engineers office and ask permission from the city council. :? :blahblah:

Beautification of coastal road for sure will not be finished this year.

Sa interview ni Cris Mahilac, sinabi nya na he started as a family driver of a foreigner staying in Manila. Hatid sa Umaga at sundo sa gabi ang ginagawa nya sa kanyang employer. in his free time, nagdrive siya ng tricycle sa Subdivision. His employer lend him some money to buy tricycles. Then he was able to buy a second hand taxicab until he was able to have 10 taxis. He then sold all his taxis and bought 1 "japayuki" bus. he was the one who drove the bus until he was able to get his own franchise. Ngayon, he has more than 200 bus units. Ngayon, ang mga bus manufacturer at banks na humahabol sa kanya para pautangin siya. he has a good credit line and very good debt payment track record kaya nagpapautang lahat sila sa kanya. he is a good client dahil binabayaran niya lahat na utang niya. he only finished grade 6. accrdng to him, his secrets about his success in life ... sipag, tiyaga, paniniwala sa diyos at being in the right place and in the right time. walang halong monkey business siya. wala siyang bisyo. ayaw niya ng instant wealth dahil naniniwala siya sa kasabihan na easy money, easy go.... Now, he is returning all his blessing to his kababayan by running as a municipal mayor in the election. he wants to construct a new public market. he will be running vs the incumbent mayor. he assures evryone, that his business will not be affected when he runs for public office. he is 47 yrs old ........end of his story hehe abangan na lang sa election :bash:  :ohno:

Now, he is returning all his blessing to his kababayan by running as a municipal mayor in the election. he wants to construct a new public market. he will be running vs the incumbent mayor. he assures evryone, that his business will not be affected when he runs for public office. he is 47 yrs old ........end of his story hehe abangan na lang sa election :bash:  :ohno:

Makahilak man sab ta sa iyang kaagi, inspiring kaayo.

Oroquieta LGU ventures into a 180-million Loan Contract for Town Center Project
By admin on February 4th, 2010

The Oroquieta Sangguniang Panlungsod passed on Wednesday January 26, 2010 a resolution supporting the Executive Agreement entered into by and between Mayor Jorge T. Almonte and the Philippine National Bank concerning the 180-million loan venture that the Local Government will use to construct the Town Center.

But civil society organizations, business sector groups and people’s organizations have already expressed dissent over the move of the local government as it may undermine the whole interest of the local economy and the way the LGU delivers basic services to the people.

Former Vice Mayor Lemuel Acosta who is running for City Mayor is one among those who have highly raised a brow against the issue. According to him, lavish loans such as the one pushed through for the Town Center project is equal to a “total sellout” of the Local Government. He believes such project would make difficult the next administration programs to push through as it will drain the LGU’s resources.

City Councilor Anthony Centino rightfully manifested his objection to the resolution calling it a “direct betrayal of public trust”. “I could not imagine how easy for it to my fellow councilors to pass and approve the resolution without even taking into cosideration some important questions as to the validity and rationality of the contract”, he said.

“What they did would create an outrageous environment in the city in the coming months. They will surely regret this.”, he added.

Govt banks man pud siguro ang ila utangan ani hehe CONGRATS OROQUIETA  :)

P2.5M youth home set to rise in Misamis Occidental town (http://www.pna.gov.ph/index.php?idn=0&nid=2&rid=259531)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Feb. 18 (PNA) –- A P2.5-million new youth home called “Bahay Pag-asa” is set to rise at Barangay Basirang in Tudela town, Misamis Occidental province.

The “Bahay Pag-asa” is a project of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Northern Mindanao.

The ground breaking of the said project, which was held early this week in Barangay Basirang, was spearheaded by DSWD Assistant Secretary Vilma B. Cabrera and Region 10 DSWD Regional Director Atty. Araceli F. Solamillo and other local officials.

Solamillo said the facility will provide temporary care for children who were apprehended and released by the law enforcers but could not be returned to their family due to absence of child's family, difficulty to locate child's family, the incapacity of the child's parents to provide proper protection for the child, or the risky and hazardous environment where the child and his or her family lives.

She said the “Bahay Pag-asa” is going to provide protection and immediate social services to the disadvantaged child in a safe and home-like environment.

"The facility will also give each child opportunities for physical, emotional, spiritual, and technical/vocational skills development," she added.

The primary beneficiaries of “Bahay Pag-asa” are those children aged 15 years old and below, who was alleged to have committed heinous crime; 16 to 18 years old, who come in conflict with the law, have no parent or relatives to come home to while assessment of discernment is being undertaken; and those who are abused, neglected and exploited by parents or relative who are unemployed, irresponsible, with very low parental skills or with serious behavioral problems.

“This project is also in line with the government’s children care program,” added Solamillo.

The “Bahay Pag-asa” project is also being fully supported by the provincial and municipal governments in Misamis Occidental. (PNA)

And more to that, they are planning on even adding another plant or complex.

Siguro this is where other IPPs should follow which is developing their own generating plants using natural resources to improve their capacity.
