I have to agree with you blue... mas ok kung another familiar fastfood chain... strategic kaayo na nga location so I'm sure naa'y mu-invest ana... pero I'm not against mooncafe putting up a branch sa ozamiz ha (wa diay ko kaila anang mooncafe btw :D)... mas ok kung naa pod na para mas daghan choices... :banana:

Specialty resto opens in Iloilo, boost local business

ILOILO CITY, May 24 – Another restaurant specializing in tasty Mexican foods opens this week in Iloilo City, signaling that businessmen and investors trust this southern city for its business.

The first Mexican-inspired Mooon Restaurant, uniquely spelled with three Os and operated by Pages Holding Inc., is located at the corner of Quezon and de Leon streets of Paseo de Iloilo, Robinson Place Iloilo. It opened its doors Monday, May 24, for a dry run and soft opening.

Restaurant consultant Ondoy Zaldarriaga said the formal opening of the restaurant is slated on May 30, 2010 to serve the Ilonggo palate craving for Mexican food with international flair that will surely satisfy the finicky customers at affordable prices.

Pages Holdings has branched out its business investments in this city after successfully establishing several branches of Mooon Café, Thirsty Juices and Shakes, a Play House and Bright Academy in Banilad Cebu.

So far, it has already established six Mooon Cafe branches in Cebu, and at least one branch in Dumaguete, Cagayan de Oro, and the Robinsons Place Iloilo. Another branchis slated to open by the end of June at the SM City Iloilo.

Zaldariaga said the owners are eyeing Moon Café franchise while the specialty restaurant is aiming for 25 outlets in five years. (PNA) RMA/ LCPendon

MANILA, Philippines - Embattled Philippine Airlines (PAL) has scrapped a provincial flight and reduced several others after 25 of its pilots indiscriminately resigned last week.

The flag carrier temporarily scrapped its Cebu-Davao flight, and reduced flights going to and from Manila and Ozamiz, Dipolog, Puerto Princesa and Cebu.

In a statement sent out on Saturday, the flag carrier said the reason for the new flight schedule was the "lean season."

"PAL released today (August 7, 2010) a new flight schedule to further optimize operational efficiency as the travel sector enters the ‘lean season'," the company said.

"The 'lean season' schedule will take effect beginning August 9 up to November 30, 2010," the Lucio Tan-owned airline said.

"There will temporarily be no operation between Cebu and Davao. This route will be reinstated during the peak season," the airline said.

PAL said it had submitted to the the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) a "new schedule with reduced frequencies include those going to and from Manila and Ozamiz, Dipolog, Puerto Princesa and Cebu."

"Capacity rationalization is routinely done in anticipation of lower passenger volume, especially tourists, during the rainy months from August to November. It also coincides with the reduced number of PAL pilots who left for jobs abroad," PAL president and chief operating officer (COO) Jaime Bautista said.

Bautista added it was during the "low" season when airlines introduce promotional programs to entice passengers to travel.

"It’s also the time of year when PAL schedules major maintenance checks on the fleet. PAL launched several promos a few weeks back," he said.

The new flight schedule is expected to be published soon in major dailies. It is also available at the PAL website at www.philippineairlines.com. Passengers may also call 855-8888 for inquiries.

PAL announced in a paid advertisement published in several newspapers on Friday that it had 38 flights from July 29 to August 3 following its dispute with pilots. It said that flights returned to normal on August 4.

Out of its 473 pilots, 25 left without notice for higher paying jobs with other airlines abroad. The flag carrier operates an average of 160 domestic and international flights per day.

OZAMIZ CITY, Philippines - After being hounded by controversies in its shipyard projects in Subic and Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, Korean firm Hanjin Heavy Industries is facing another problem in the construction of the P3-billion Panguil Bay Bridge.

The bridge that would connect Tubod, Lanao del Norte and Tangub City, Misamis Occidental is being built by the firm's subsidiary, Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Ltd. (HHICL).

Misamis Occidental Gov. Loreto Leo Ocampos said Hanjin construction, which won the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) contract for the bridge project, was found to have "qualification issues."

Ocampos said under the BOT law, winning bidders should have 60 percent Filipino ownership. Hanjin construction is a wholly owned Korean subsidiary and is thus ineligible for the contract, he said.

Hanjin was the lone bidder for the construction of Panguil Bay bridge project.

Ocampos said a new bidding to invite new interested parties will be scheduled in light of this development.

He said the bidding would have to take account the prevailing prices of construction materials and estimated that government equity will hike to more than P900 million.

"The P900 million may double, given the steep rise in project cost. Amid the pressure on government's fiscal resources exerted by the rice price crisis, it's quite difficult to demand more equity from it," Ocampos said.

Ocampos said the project would have to undergo a review by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) to determine its investment returns and volume of vehicular traffic.

A study made five years ago estimated that around 2,000 vehicles and some 5,000 people would use the bridge every day. The bridge will cut the travel time to less than 30 minutes and will do away the use of ferryboats. - Sun.Star

Right, even the photos are not icons for the respective cities. The nature scenery can be anywhere. Ozamiz should have the "cotta", Dipolog maybe the long boulevard since Dapitan can rightfully claim Dakak, of course Pagadian will have that long avenue from the rotunda down to the port, and complete with the supersonic motorcycles!
