Too bad, If I were the city, I would invest on a by pass road to link the existing IBT to the main thoroughfares, rehabilitate it and turn it into a commercial landmark like the one in Oroquieta, then make space for a mall to build. Speaking of OTC, what happened to the Robinsons there?

the city govt of Ozamiz is offering the ibjt to metro gaisano and other mall owners and
will build north and south bus terminals in other locations for Ozamiz.
regarding robi supermarket for Oroquieta, i was told by my friend
from Oroquieta that Robi is not pushing through with its plan. the area at OTC is small.

Emano lauds PNoy for railway project

CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Vicente Emano praised the Aquino administration for its decision to continue the P66.5 billion Mindanao Railway System as one of its priority projects for 2011.

Emano said he really lobbied for this project, including the Laguindingan International Airport.

"Like the Laguindingan airport, the proposed railway project will greatly boost the development of Mindanao. It is expected to be finished sooner but not in time for the Airport, which is about to be finished," Emano said in a statement.

He said the railway project would be a big help to Mindanaoans as this aims to provide hassle-free and lesser travel time, especially to businessmen.

The feasibility studies for the Mindanao Railway project started in 2003 while the civil works has already started.

The P66.5-billion Mindanao Railway project is expected to cut travel time within different cities in Mindanao by at least 50 percent.

Emano said the proposed railway station will be implemented in four phases that would be convenient for every traveler.

The first phase will be from Laguindingan to Cagayan de Oro while the second would be from Laguindingan to Iligan City and the third from Cagayan de Oro to Phividec area in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.

Meanwhile, the fourth phase would be from Iligan City to Linamon in Lanao del Norte, which hopes to cut the present 90-minute bus travel time from Cagayan de Oro to Iligan to just about 15 to 20 minutes.

The railway is expected to link urban centers in Mindanao such as Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Zamboanga, Pagadian, Dipolog, Marawi, Cotabato and Davao.

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY—This city’s Philippine Ports Authority (PPA)-administered port registered the highest number of domestic ship calls compared to the two other major ports in Northern Mindanao in the second quarter of this year, the PPA reported.

Of the 4,368 domestic ship calls in PPA-administered ports, the CDO port in barangay Macabalan registered a 5.16-percent increase in the second quarter, compared to Ozamiz City’s 2.94-percent increase in the same period.

The Ozamiz City port, however, accounted for about 80 percent of total domestic ship calls during the second quarter.

The Ozamiz City port also posted the highest increase in the number of passenger traffic, with a 36-percent increase, which is a 71-percent share of total passenger in Northern Mindanao.

Total passenger traffic in the period was 23-percent higher than the same period last year.

The PPA also reported that for the period covered, there were 116 more ship calls in Northern Mindanao compared to the same period in 2009.

It also said that the Iligan City port posted a 15-percent decline in the number of domestic ship calls.

Foreign ship calls were down to 37 from 51, the PPA said.

But the net cargo traffic in major ports increased by 5.7 percent from 1,156,072 metric tons (MT) in the second quarter of 2009 to 1,222,021 MT in the same period in 2010.

Although domestic cargo traffic registered a 16.06-perecent increase, foreign cargo traffic decreased by 24.67 percent.

For container traffic, the PPA noted an increase by 19 percent, or 54,233 TEUs.

Domestic container traffic increased by 21 percent while foreign container traffic increased at a lower rate of about 9 percent, which is a complete reversal of the 2008-2009 trend when domestic container traffic registered a downtrend and foreign containerized traffic an uptrend.

The region’s total domestic outbound container traffic was lower than its inbound domestic traffic by 763 TEUs. Also, its foreign export container traffic was lower than its foreign import traffic by 1,566 TEUs.

In the same period last year, Northern Mindanao registered higher domestic export than domestic import container traffic. It, however, recorded higher foreign import than foreign export TEUs container traffic,

In the Phividec Industrial Authority (PIA) port, there was a total of 127 ship calls at the port of Phividec, 73 of which were domestic and 54 foreign vessels.

The total foreign and domestic TEUs handled in the Mindanao Container Terminal at Phividec in Tagoloan town increased by 40.07 percent over the year-ago level, the former by 68 percent and the latter by 21 percent.

In other ports regulated by the Phividec Industrial Authority, the ship calls in the second quarter increased by 44 percent year-on-year or from 152 to 219. Calls by foreign vessels increased much more, 117 percent, than domestic ship calls, 30 percent.

Of course Ozamiz will always rank high in passenger traffic since it is the gateway to Zambo Sur as well as the towns of Lanao served via ferry to Mukas.

Although domestic cargo traffic registered a 16.06-perecent increase, foreign cargo traffic decreased by 24.67 percent.

For container traffic, the PPA noted an increase by 19 percent, or 54,233 TEUs.

Domestic container traffic increased by 21 percent while foreign container traffic increased at a lower rate of about 9 percent, which is a complete reversal of the 2008-2009 trend when domestic container traffic registered a downtrend and foreign containerized traffic an uptrend.

The region’s total domestic outbound container traffic was lower than its inbound domestic traffic by 763 TEUs. Also, its foreign export container traffic was lower than its foreign import traffic by 1,566 TEUs.

In the same period last year, Northern Mindanao registered higher domestic export than domestic import container traffic. It, however, recorded higher foreign import than foreign export TEUs container traffic,

In the Phividec Industrial Authority (PIA) port, there was a total of 127 ship calls at the port of Phividec, 73 of which were domestic and 54 foreign vessels.

The total foreign and domestic TEUs handled in the Mindanao Container Terminal at Phividec in Tagoloan town increased by 40.07 percent over the year-ago level, the former by 68 percent and the latter by 21 percent.

In other ports regulated by the Phividec Industrial Authority, the ship calls in the second quarter increased by 44 percent year-on-year or from 152 to 219. Calls by foreign vessels increased much more, 117 percent, than domestic ship calls, 30 percent.

POSIBLE nga mahinayon na gyud ang Panguil Bay Bridge (PBB) sa panahon karon ni Presidente Noynoy Aquino.

Ipaagi sa Public Private Partnership (PPP) ang katukoran sa PBB nga mag dugtong sa Misamis Occidental ug Lanao del Norte sa ubang bahin sa Mindanao ug sa tibuok Pilipinas.

Gipadayag ni Misamis Occidental 2nd District representative Loreto Leo Ocampos nga iya na nga nahinabi ang mga hingtungdang opisyal ilabi na sa mga kalihim sa DPWH, DBM, ug NEDA ug gituki ang kalabot sa pagpahimutang sa pipeline of projects sa national government , ang kalabot sa PBB.

Iyang gidugang nga ang tinguha alang sa katumanan sa maong tulay, natunong sa programa ni Presidente Benigno Simeon “ Noynoy Aquino III, nga magtinabangay ang gobyerno ug ang publiko pinasikad sa Private- Public Partnership .
Gani taas ang confidence level sa mga langyawng investors sa administrasyon ni Presidente Aquino, aron mopundo sa nasangpit nga proyekto.
Gipasabot ni Ocampos nga dugay na ng gipaabot sa katawhan ang katumanan sa panguil bay bridge, kay kini ang magdugtog sa Misamis Occidental ug Lanao del Norte lagbas sa panguil bay nga mao makadugang sa kaaktibo sad is og sa ekonomoya sa Mindanao.
Gani ang maong tulay ang maisip unya nga bridge of peace , bridge of friendship o kaha bridge of love.
Kahinumduman nga sa higayon nga matuman na ang pag tukod sa maong tulay, dili na lisod alang sa tanan nga motabok lagbas sa panguil bay sa bisan unsang oras.

PADAYON karon ang Concerned Advocate Saving Terrestrial Linking Natural-Coastal Eco-System (COASTLINE INC.) sa pagpalapnag sa kaayohan sa pagpananom og Banyan Tree kon Balite.

Gipadayag ni Dr. Nelson ‘Jongjong’ Cuaresma, director sa Coastline Incorporated Research and Development on Coastal and Watershed Ecosystem Studies nga padayon sila karon nga misulod sa nagkadaiyang barangay sa lalawigan sa Misamis Occidenal aron mapasabot ug mapasibaw ang kaayohan nga makuha ilabina sa kinaiyahan sa pagtanom sa Banyan Tree.

Gisaysay ni Cuaresma nga ang Banyan Tree adunay 800 ka klase nga makita sa Pilipinas diin dako kini og ikatabang sa pagpahiuli sa nagusbat nga kinaiyahan.

P3.78-B deals poured in Northern Mindanao

AROUND P3.78 billion worth of investments are poured in Northern Mindanao for the third quarter of this year. It is more than double the figure recorded in the same period last year with only P1.8 billion.

Engr. Cecilio Y. Clarete, economy development specialist of the National Economic Development Authority (Neda) in Northern Mindanao, said majority of these investments were spilled over on infrastructure and services with P3.14 billion.

In Misamis Oriental, he said infrastructure and services comprised more than 90 percent of the total provincial investments, including expansion of subdivisions, restaurants and hotel facilities.

The rest of the sectors in the province shared the remaining seven percent with the services and agri-based sectors contributing three percent and 1.79 percent, respectively.

The province has posted 498 percent increase in investment for the quarter from P561 million to P3.350 billion.

Lanao del Norte shared five percent of the total regional investments amounting to P178.85 million with major investments accounted under the servicing and trading sectors.

Among the investments during the quarter were expansion projects of hospitals, commercial and trading enterprises.

Small and medium enterprises (SME) and one-town-one-product (Otop) projects, which are classified under the agri-based sector, comprised seven percent of the total investments of the province.

Getting three percent of the total regional investments, Bukidnon had contributed P131 million with bulk investment derived from business name registration.

Other investments went to the services and agri-based sectors such as trucking services and expansion of poultry and sugarcane farms.

However, such figure was an 85 percent decrease against record in the same period last year of P876 million.

Camiguin province's investments slightly went up by 11.13 percent during the period, which contributed P59.22 million of the total regional investments.

Deals were derived from SME and Otop projects, banks and business name registration with major investments classified under trading, infrastructure and services and agri-based sectors.

Meanwhile, Misamis Occidental shared two percent of the total regional investments and got the most of its investments from the business name registration and aquamarine-related projects implemented during the quarter.
