litigs January 24th, 2011, 02:39 PM you think in the future that this western peninsula will be ruled by influential families? :ohno:
I hope not because that's what we don't want to happen because monopoly in any form would always be disadvantageous to the public. There is only one aim by politicos to expand their clout, and that is to protect their ever growing assets, simple as that. Power is addictive and we all know, so it's really up to the smaller to stand their ground and gain more public trust . The problem really is how the poor masses be disuaded from money because they hold the majority. Even the educated middle-class are sold to it. I'm just doubtful presented herself in the photo with the big guys so I hope she made the right concessions whatever is that.

id like to believe that Gov. Ramiro attended the said meeting on the proposed
new western Mindanao regional group per invitation by the Big J political
dynasty but let us not judge her based on her attendance to that meeting.
let us wait in the coming days when she starts talking about it.
this lady is no amateur in politics. im sure she was there to please them
and still want to feel the sentiments of her political constituents :)

True, we can hang on to her wits and will to stand her ground and not be influenced by this two political dynasties hovering around her.

What we did in SRP in Cebu was the causeway being buffered by pre-cast wave breaking concrete barriers that looks like a "jackstone", you can see that if you look closely using your photolens from the ship entering the harbor. The japanese consortium we worked with was KEI-Katahira Engineers International. I wonder who was the consultant for Ozamiz. What will happen next is they will slowly infill that until the water is displaced, its a long process but that's how it works. Who knows, maybe Robinsons or SM will build there! It's proximity to the pier makes it ideal from across Lanao.

i heard the city govt plans to go into a MOA signing with a pvt consortium to do the
reclamation along the shoreline of 4-5 barangays that will be affected by the coastal road proj.
The reclamation will be done at no cost to the city govt.
but it was not known when they are going to start the bidding process or start selecting interested pvt estate developer.
but before they start reclaiming portion of the bay, the city govt needs to
relocate the affected families living in the shoreline.
i think the affected families will most likely be relocated to GSK village in brgy Bongbong.

You got it Blue, if you take the ship to Cebu and zoom your lens to the SRP, you will see those barriers, that's typical to major reclamation projects. Actually before any project would start, they would have already done the survey to determine the tides and waves. The local consulting we worked with before just hired a cheap "banca" from Pasil near Carbon market and the surveyor just looked any ordinary fisherman, we pity him so much because his skin was so dark by the time his work was done. In the meantime, I was just serving coffee and doing errands for the managers in the office...he..he..he..just a "tig". Anyways I suspect that will be a build operate transfer scheme from the consortium or the so called PPP by PNoy.

Yes, I would say the LGU should put more priority on this reclamation project; the initial investment is big but the returns are even bigger. There were a lot of doubts and hesitation when Osmena started it in Cebu, lots of obstacles and frustrations but in the end, look at it now. This will become the next jewel of Cebu.

mbell_791983 January 26th, 2011, 03:08 PM i heard the city govt of Pagadian and provincial govt of Zambo Sur will be gathering support
from the local officials of Mis. Occ including Lanao Norte through signature campaign and position papers to support
their claim of designating Pagadian city as Regional center for Region 9.
their local officials have been making frequent trips to Malacanang to strengthen and justify their claim.
one official said that Zambo city will be all alone in supporting its own claim of retaining Zambo city as Regional center.
I smell something fishy... You are pertaining to the newly formed Western Peninsula... It's very illogical... I'm from Zamboanga City... You know guys you may be wrong because of the suffering employees who are affected to the transfer... I'll ask you questions: Which is really the regional center? Please specify why your city should be retained as regional center (economic and financial aspects, basic needs, sustainability, access)...
That is what I'm going to ask you for this...
Do you support your claim to get Zamboanga out of the map of Region IX and be given to the Bangsamoro ARMM? Do want to see Zamboanga as the next Cotabato City so that investors willing to to business in Zamboanga (which is more strategic for business activities because of its land area) will be diverted to Pagadian through the plans of so-called Gloria Arroyo of Pagadian Mayor Sammy Co?

Bakit ba? Pati pa isali ang Lanao del Norte at Misamis Oriental sa pagsuporta ng pagiging Regional Center ng Pagadian? It's connected with the Western Peninsula Group... In fairness, Bahagi ng Region X ang MisOcc and Lanao del Norte, so what should these provinces do with this issue? Totoo naman ang hinala ng mga taga-Zamboanga!

hey be cool. im just relaying here in Mis Occ thread of what i heard. i heard
this plan loud and clear from a public official in Pagadian about their plan in
justifying their claim to malacañang that Pagadian deserves to be the regional center.
im thinking of possible scenario what if, what if one day, Misamisnons wil
wake up to find out that Mis. Occ. is already under region 9.
although this regional center issue is not yet being discussed publicly by Mis Occ officials
and what if Jalosjos, cerilles, Co et al will really push through with their plan
of getting Mis Occ for region 9 to make it appear that Pagadian is the rightful regional center,
Now, if ever this happens, i just hope this will go through public consultation, public
debate and referendum so that sentiments of all Misamisnons will prevail.
Mis Occ is already dragged in this issue and we cant do anything about it and
must decide later on where to stand.
Personally, i really dont give a damn about this issue. Misamisnons are used
of going to CDO city to transact with various regional govt offices for so
many years ( since birth if i may add hehe ) and are not complaining.
Zamboanga city on the other hand must not be complacent about this issue.
They should make a move to counter the claim of Jalosjos, Cerilles et al before P-Noy signs the paper in favor of Pagadian.
dont you worry, i still prefer going to DFA office in CDO city to renew my passport and enjoy malling at Kitkai :)
litigs January 26th, 2011, 07:46 PM dapat makuha sa Region 9 ang Mis Occ para ma-justify nila ila claim nga sentro sila as regional center

ADIOS CDO city, WELCOME to Pagadian city hehe :lol::lol:
For the record and by law, Pagadian is already the regional seat regardless of whether a new regional area is created or keeping the same. The assessment report on the state of the regional transfer is supposed to be due by this time. Approximately 40 to 50% of the offices are already settled and or in transition but suspended by the assessment period. Quite curiously, the bonding of the big politicos also happened during this period. Should Ramiro go for it, then Zamboanga will be at odds with the rest. Most likely, the concessions would be among Del Sur, del norte, and miss occ. While lanao and Zambo city will keep a token. Effectively, this will entrenched Jalosjos and Cerilles. The Almontes in Oroquieta would be easy prey, they are natives of Pagadian Jalosjos can keep Dakak and the theme park flourishing while Cerilles and Co would secure and continue to pile up their assets. Ozamiz can still play safe for as long as the politicians agreement is honored. By the way, even Pagadian folks always go to Cagayan for shopping and services!

Blueleo January 27th, 2011, 08:28 AM Shellfish from Murcielagos Bay, Mis. Occ. unsafe to eat – BFAR
Tuesday, January 25, 2011
by Rutchie Cabahug-Aguhob
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Misamis Oriental, Jan. 24 (PIA) – All types of shellfish, including “alamang” gathered from Murcielagos Bay at the boundary of Misamis Occidental, region 10, and Zamboanga del Norte, region 9, continues to be unsafe for human consumption.
This warning came from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources which came out with its Shellfish Bulletin No. l, series of 2011, based on the latest laboratory results from the shellfish collected in the area which have been found positive for paralytic shellfish poison that is beyond the regulatory limit.
Hence, the public is again advised not to harvest, not to eat, not to sell and not to buy them, Assuncion J. Maputol, Officer-in-Charge of BFAR, region 10, said.
Also unsafe to eat are the shellfish collected in the following areas: Bislig Bay in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, Dumanquillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur, Matarinao Bay in Eastern Samar and Sorsogon Bay in Sorsogon.
Maputol, however, said that fish, squids, shrimps and crabs, are safe to eat, provided they are fresh and washed thoroughly and their internal organs, such as gills and intestines, are removed before cooking.
Meanwhile, the following coastal waters have continued to be free from toxic red tides, therefore the shellfish gathered from these areas are safe to eat:
Mindanao: Kabasalan in Sibuguey Bay, Zamboanga Sibugay, Balite Bay in Mati, Davao Oriental and Hinatuan Bay and Lianga Bay in Surigao del Sur.
Visayas: Irong-irong, Maqueda and Villareal Bays in Samar, Ormoc, San Pedro, Cancabato and Carigara Bays in Leyte, Biliran Waters in Biliran Province, Pilar, President Roxas, Pontevedra, Panay, Roxas City, Ivisan and Sapian in Capiz and E.B. Magalona, Pontevedra, Pulupandan, Villadolid, Talisay City, Bacolod City, Hinigaran, Cadiz City, Victorias City, Bago City and San Enrique in Negros Occidental.
Luzon: Cavite, Las Pinas, Paranaque, Navotas, Bulacan and Bataan in Manila Bay and Alaminos, Anda, Bolinao and Wawa, Bani, Pangasinan, Masinloc Bay in Zambales and Juag Lagoon in Matnog, Sorsogon, Milagros and Mandaon Bays in Masbate, Honda and Puerto Bays in Puerto Princesa City and Inner Malampaya Sound in Taytay, Palawan.
(mta-CIO Iligan)

Blueleo January 30th, 2011, 12:09 PM Reg.10 is home to 30% of country's best teachers in 2010
by Rutchie Cabahug-Aguhob
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Misamis Oriental, Jan. 27, 2011 (PIA) -- Three or 30 percent of the 10 winners of the 2010 Search for Outstanding Teachers conducted by the MetroBank Foundation, Inc. (MFI) were from Region 10.
And what is interesting about them is that their names all start with the letter “M,” which could also mean “Mentor,” or “Model,” and they not only love to teach but have very strong passions for the teaching profession.
Their profound commitment for the development of the youth through exemplary competence, remarkable dedication to their work, and effective educational leadership made them win the search.
In partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the said search was for choosing the “best among the best in the teaching profession as we embark in our continuing commitment to bring about change and inspiration in the sector of education in the country,” Anecito M. Sobrepeña, MFI President, said.
Aside from cash awards of P300,000 for each winner, they also received especially-designed trophies and medals while their schools received plaques of recognition from MFI.
For its part, the Regional Development Council (RDC), Region 10, will confer recognition to these 2010 MFI Awardees this coming Feb. 11, during its first quarter meeting:
Miladith B. Polutan, Master Teacher 1, Oroquieta City Central Elementary School, Oroquieta City in Misamis Occidental, 18 years of teaching, with Special Education (SPED) for children with multiple disabilities and visual impairment as field of specialization.
Mercelita J. Labial, English Department Chair/Senior Faculty, Xavier University High School, Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental, 18 years of teaching, with English as field of specialization.
Mercedita S. Villamayor, Associate Professor IV, Bukidnon State University Secondary School Laboratory, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, 28 years in teaching, with Mathematics as field of specialization.
Meanwhile, Sobrepeña said a total of 297 teachers, “who have been shining examples of unstinting dedication and commitment to the teaching profession and pride of their respective schools and communities,” have been awarded by MFI since 1985.
“I am pleased to say that Northern Mindanao is the 3rd top-producing region with 23 search awardees or 7.8 percent of the total,” Sobrepeña added. (PIA 10)
