A “Tangubanon” tops the 2011 NQEP

TANGUB CITY, Misamis Occidental, Mar. 28 (PIA) -- Ma. Sherwin Cuasito-Alduheza, a high school teacher of Banglay National High School, Tangub City, topped the 2010 National Qualifying Examination for Principals (NQEP) with a score of 99.99%.

The said examination was simultaneously administered nationwide last January 23, 2011.

She shares the top slot with Bemar D. Torres from Region VII.

The 2010 NQEP consisted of 170 test items equitably spread across the nine (9) performance area or leadership experience dimensions of school heads that includes the following:

School leadership, instructional leadership, creating a student-centered learning climate, professional human resource development and parent involvement and building community.

School management and daily operations, personal integrity and interpersonal sensitivity, English language proficiency, and reading comprehension. (PIA-10)

Farm inputs, medical mission for Barangays Sicot and Hoyohoy

TANGUB CITY, Misamis Occidental, Mar. 28 (PIA) -- Farm inputs in the form of high value vegetable seeds, organic and inorganic fertilizer, pesticides and three heads of carabaos each, were received by Barangays Sicot and Hoyohoy, this city, last March 23.

The two (2) barangays were the beneficiaries of the European Union-Food Production Assistance to Vulnerable Sectors (EU-FPAVAS) Project.

This project is implemented by the Southeast Asia Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), in partnership with, the provincial government of Misamis Occidental.

Gov. Herminia M. Ramiro and Mayor Philip T. Tan of Tangub City were on hand to give out the farm inputs to the beneficiaries.

On the same day, Gov. Ramiro brought a team of medical and dental doctors who gave free consultations, and dispensed free medicines to the constituents of the barangays.

She also promised to give a feed mill machine worth P2.5M to Tangub City.

Meanwhile, Mayor Tan encouraged the farmers to work hard since they were already given the inputs and promised to provide means to transport their harvest to the market later on. (PIA-10)

Nice photos of the ships and the clean port. Which one runs faster, Trans-Asia or Cebu Ferries? Just wondering if Cebu Ferries are still using the same old Gothong ships like Mt. Carmel, the paint looks new though.

Italy grants aid to ARCs

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Misamis Oriental (PIA) – The Philippines and Italy recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the Italian Assistance to Agrarian Reform Community Development Support Project (IARCDSP) that aims to contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of rural families in selected provinces of Mindanao.

In Region 10, the project will cover the provinces of Bukidnon, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental.

With a total cost of approximately P2.5 billion, the IARCDSP has the following specific objectives – increasing and stabilizing household incomes and enhancing access to key services in selected agrarian reform communities (ARCs) and connecting them to non-ARC communities.

The Philippines was represented by Department of Agrarian Reform Secretary Virgilio de los Reyes, while Ambassador Luca Fornari represented Italy.

i heard from a reliable source that Geege Supermarket is still under evaluation by
RLC for for proposed supermarket in Ozamiz.
abi nako out na ang geege sa ilang options.
miabot na pud ang taga RLC kuno didto :)

Rentahan nalang nila ang ground ug second floor sa geege para dako dako pud ug lugar. Ibalhin ang mcdonalds haha

theres no blood relation between the two mall owners.
if im not mistaken, one of the children of Lee plaza owner was married
to the children of gaisano clan, not sure though which gaisano group of

the last time na pumunta ang taga RLC sa Ozamiz,
may dala silang DSLR cam and check list form.
siyempre Cebu pacific ang sinakyan papunta dito at pabalik ng Maynila.
kinunan ng photos ang Central bank, public mall, pier, ibjt, gaisano at ibang dept stores.
nagtaka sila dahil maaga daw masyado mag-open ang shoppers plaza at centrum.
ang nasa check list form nila kung anu-ano ang banks, colleges, universities,
hospital sa Ozamiz, kung ilan ang mercury drug store sa Ozamiz at ibang tanong pa.
dumalaw pa rin daw sa geege mall at nakipag-usap sa may-ari.
lets pray hard na mapabilis ang negotiation ng RLC sa Ozamiz para
sa kanilang supermarket or mall :angel1: :angel:

In the meantime, Savemore is bent on conquering the agoras just like in CDO. Was the city able to find an option for them? where they can rent here in Ozamiz.
i cant think of any bldg here in the city that is available and big
enough for a supermarket.
i guess they have to wait for a few more months or a year may be
before a chinese businessman can build a bldg intended for
savemore.

regarding SM savemore, i doubt it if they can find a bigger place
where they can rent here in Ozamiz.
i cant think of any bldg here in the city that is available and big
enough for a supermarket.

MANILA, Philippines – A low pressure area was seen in the direction of Eastern Samar Friday morning, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In its latest weather forecast, Pagasa said the weather disturbance was seen 800 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms, becoming cloudy with widespread rains over Eastern Visayas and Northeastern Mindanao, Pagasa said. Rains may trigger flashfloods and landslides, the state-run weather bureau warned.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy at times with isolated light rains, Pagasa said.

“Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the Northeast to Northwest with slight to moderate seas,” Pagasa added.

if ever COA believes there is merit in this case because city hall could not justify their deed or could not present documents,
COA will file a case vs them at the Ombudsman.
the process is long and tedious and before we know it, its election time again :)

I think this procedural lapses doesn't only happen in Ozamiz but in other LGUs. So depending on the political atmosphere, violations can be pointed out by insiders from other parties or simply be disregarded. I remember the bitter rivalry between Cerilles and Ariosa in ZamboSur before wherein one accused the other of "nakatulog" in one of the government conventions while the head state was making a speech. The other one replied "asa may maayo kung magsinumbagay ta", "tan-awon nato kinsa ang maka-tulog!" The following day at the airport, I saw them greeting each other" kumusta man pre" and shaking hands in front of passengers!

I think this procedural lapses doesn't only happen in Ozamiz but in other LGUs. So depending on the political atmosphere, violations can be pointed out by insiders from other parties or simply be disregarded. I remember the bitter rivalry between Cerilles and Ariosa in ZamboSur before wherein one accused the other of "nakatulog" in one of the government conventions while the head state was making a speech. The other one replied "asa may maayo kung magsinumbagay ta", "tan-awon nato kinsa ang maka-tulog!" The following day at the airport, I saw them greeting each other" kumusta man pre" and shaking hands in front of passengers!

those two politicos will look ridiculous for people who take politics seriously hehe

INVESTMENTS in Northern Mindanao dramatically shot up by
44 percent from 2009 to 2010 despite rolling brownouts in
the early part of the year.

According to its quarterly report, the National Economic Development Authority
(Neda) noted a total of P11.91 billion in investments in Region 10 in 2010 as
compared to only P8.29 billion in 2009. The bulk of investments came from
Misamis Oriental amounting to P5.37 billion, attributed mainly to the
construction of the Coca-cola bottling plant in Villanueva town.

Other new investments poured into the province included the construction and
expansion of tourism-related facilities such as real estate, hotels, pension
houses, dormitories and restaurants. Bukidnon came next with heavy infusion
in the services sector followed by the agricultural sector. Lanao del Norte came
in third with major investments in the fastfood chain and shopping center
industry as well as expansion projects of a chemical and consumer
manufacturing company.

For the quarterly report on exports, Northern Mindanao generated export sales
at US$220.47 million or an increase of six percent from the months of October
to November 2009. Neda 10 economic specialist Clark Clarete attributed the
increase to the resumption of operation of two exporting oil mills in Misamis
Occidental - Ozamco and Third Millennium Oil Mill - as well as the operation of
two frozen prawn processing plants - AA-Millennium Ocean Star Corp. and HJR
International Corporation.

But sugar exports in Bukidnon slumped and cold-rolled coils and abaca pulp
production for exports in Lanao del Norte also declined. However, the
combined data from the first quarter to the fourth quarter of 2010 showed
that exports in Northern Mindanao increased by 78.80 percent or $926.91 million.

The majority of exports are coconut by-products such as crude coconut,
cochin oil, oleochemicals and dessicated coconut.

Yes, very nice place! There's some parts of the road from the highway that wasn't paved. But when you reached to brgy. Villaba up to Hoyohoy the road is already paved. Regarding security measures be careful when you reached to brgy. Capalaran & Villaba even early in the morning or late in the afternoon there are lots of people were victimized by hold-up. I hope that the brgy.,city officials & specially Cong. Ocampos would make an action to those incidents before getting worst.

i heard the city Mayor was very emotional on her talk in front of her supporters
at the city gym yesterday.
she took the chance of hitting back at Cong. Ocampos for politicizing the special
COA audit report.

I thought dili angay ka balak-an? Ngano nag pa tapok sa gym og nag emotional nman?

ambot ngano pud kaha nga nagtapok man sila sa city gym gahapon sa udto.
siguro para mag-show force sila. matag brgy naa jud dala streamers
expressing supports to the mayor and her administration.
nagpahungaw lang siguro pud sila sa ilang gibati ug tubag pud nila
kang cong Ocampos siguro :)

I guess they need more support. Pero halos tanan man nga mga bgy capt naa sa ilang partido?

dapat lang magpakita ka support ky kung dilia ka support nila,
wala ky funding para sa imong brgy which is very typical and common
practice in all LGU's.
theres a famous political saying during local elections, no vote ... ibot
(imong balay sa lote nila mayor) :lol:

Si Gov. herminia Ramiro ug Cong leo Ocampos ang guest speakers sa Graduation rites sa Misamis University.
gitunga ang graduation nila.
maayo ra pud para kadyot ra mahuman ang ceremony ky gutom ra ba
kung dugay mahuman hehe.

Pasundayag 2011 to be held at Mall of Asia

THE Music Hall of the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Metro Manila, is the venue
of the most-awaited Pasundayag 2011 Northern Mindanao this coming April
14-19, 2011.

Pasundayag 2011 tagged as Northern Mindanao Power 10 is a six-day
exposition of Region 10 as a destination for both domestic and foreign tourists,
government-private investments, center for trade; good governance and
culture practices.

Five provinces and eight cities of Northern Mindanao will showcase the Region’s
finest tourism attractions for adventure, ecotourism, leisure, culinary, crafts,
agri-aqua products, facilities, services, wellness features, cultural endowments
and best practices of the various local government units and private-tourism
related organizations.

Pasundayag Northern Mindanao is presented by the Department of Tourism,
Region 10, and being co-presented by SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City, Metro
Manila and participated in by the Regional Development Council (RDC 10); the
Northern Mindanao Regional Tourism Council 10; the Region’s Local
Government Unit; Tourism Industry Key Players, Private Institutions and
Government Line Agencies through display of the Region’s Best in tourist
attractions, tourism-related services (hotels, restaurants, transportation,
communication, wellness establishments, travel agencies, event organizers and
others), travel facilities and amenities, (terminals, toads, meeting facilities,
shops, etc) and cultural pride (cuisine, arts, dances, music, rituals and tableaus).

In an interview, Director Catalino “Butch” E. Chan 111, the dynamic and
well-equipped Tourism Regional Director of Northern Mindanao, told
BusinessWeek Mindanao that Pasundayag Northern Mindanao will serve as a
learning pad for both host region, performers/exhibitors and viewers in an
interactive experience of promoting social and cultural development. He further
stressed that it will likewise be a source of family entertainment, school
off-campus education, wholesome trading and visitors’ delight. Furthermore,
the 6 days exposition shall be a substantial event for locals and visitors to
highly appreciate the contemporary developments in Northern Mindanao, he
concluded.

The Grand Opening will be April 14, 2011 participated in by the five provinces of
Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental and Lande del Norte
and the eight cities-Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Ozamis, Tangub, Oroqueita,
Gingoog, Malaybalay and Valencia.

Each province and city will have their scheduled highlights days to showcase
their cultural shows, trivia, craft demo, destination exhibits, food products,
dance clinic, food sampling, ethnic musical instruments demo and travel market.

Pasundayag Northern Mindanao will showcase craft demonstrations like
beadworks and hinabol, loom weaving, kadang-kadang and indigenous games,
pottery, basket weaving, and nito weaving. Pasundayag Northern Mindanao will
then be in the limelight as it interspersed and showcased with the real Tourism
Biodiversity of the Region and what it has to offer to the world.

it was premature and overkill for the calling of all brgy captains to show support
for the current administration at the city hall.
i think, there was no need to do that.
why did city hall officials have to gather all their supporters at the city gym yesterday ? :dunno:

BFAR: 4 coastal areas positive for red tide

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) released a bulletin on Tuesday warning the public of paralytic shellfish poison found in four coastal areas in the country.

Based on the latest laboratory results of the BFAR, shellfishes collected in the following areas are positive for paralytic shellfish poison or the red tide toxin:

# Dumanquillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur;
# Murcielagos Bay in Zamboanga del Norte and Misamis Occidental;
# coastal waters of Bolinao and Anda in Pangasinan; and
# Masinloc Bay in Zambales.

All types of shellfish and Acetes sp. or alamang gathered from the listed areas are not safe for human consumption.

BFAR aquaculturist Lea Cabella told GMA News Online that the agency is working closely with local government units to make sure that gathering shellfish is banned in the areas where red tide toxin was found.

Fish, shrimps, squids and crabs are safe for human consumption, provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly, Cabella said. She added that the internal organs must also be removed, as the red tide toxin is usually found in the internal organs.

Apart from the listed areas, other coastal waters in the country are free from toxic red tides, the BFAR bulletin added.

Red tide is a term used to describe a concentration of harmful algal bloom, which causes harmful effects to living organisms. The blooms, either toxic or non-toxic, discolor the water and may not necessarily be red in color but may also appear yellow, brown, green or blue, according to the BFAR website.

Eating shellfish with red tide toxin may cause various gastrointestinal and respiratory illnesses like diarrhea, vomiting and headaches. The toxin may also affect the neurological functions of a person and cause death. — RSJ, GMA News
