Agree. Dili jud cya agianan for vehicular traffic use. Ang Cotta ky shrine ug park man. Ozamiz Cotta is unique bcoz of its historical, cultural and religous significance. On-going pa construction sa Ozamiz coastal road or boulevard

Blueleo August 5th, 2009, 02:15 PM Good News Ozamiznon:
The total amount of P400M+ budget for the Ozamiz boulevard/coastal road was already signed by DPWH Sec. Hermogenes Ebdane. The signed document was presented to the Mayor's office by a DPWH representative last Aug. 3, 2009 after which the local city council heard a thanksgiving mass at the Cathedral and had thanksgiving dinner later at night at La Veranda restaurant. The said project will be bidded out soon. The on-going work at the coastal road is presently funded by Cong. Herminia Ramiro. Will post newsclippings once i get hold of it. :)

Providing affordable and decent housing to the Misamisnons
The Misamis Occidental Provincial Housing Project is on its way to fulfilling the promise of providing more opportunities for Misamisnons to avail of low-cost quality housing units. Located in Barangay Villaflor, Oroquieta City, with an area of 4.8948 hectares, the project is made possible through the unprecedented effort of the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental, headed by Governor Leo Ocampos.
Within the three-month-period starting from February, processing of vital papers, like the Land Conversion Certificate (LCC), the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC), and the Individual Technical Descriptions, has been fast-tracked. This has been facilitated through the prompt cooperation of and in coordination with the different national agencies, such as, the Department of Agrarian Reform 10 (DARIO), Department of Environment and Natural Resources 10 (DENR 10) and DENR-Land Management Section (DENRIO-LMS) respectively.
As a result, construction has been continuous and uninterrupted. To date, road construction is heavily under way. Also at work is ongoing construction of each of the four model houses 1C, 2C, 3C, and 4C. There are already two (2) model Socialized Housing duplexes with four (4) units available for viewing and inspection.
Local residents have also been given the opportunity to earn additional income from this project as construction workers. At present, the Provincial Housing Project Committee is in the process of coordinating with the Office of the City Register of Deeds for the acquisition of Individual Land Titling.
There are 259 housing lots available with the following breakdown:
Socialized Housing Lots - 112
Type 1C - 32
Type 2C - 47
Type 3C - 28
Type 4C - 40
For inquiries, interested parties and applicants are encouraged to go to the Provincial Governor's Office (PGO), Capitol, Oroquieta City, or call at 531-1333 and 531-1632.
Blueleo August 15th, 2009, 12:31 PM Yehey .... Occ. :)

Blueleo August 25th, 2009, 06:27 PM Good News! Gaisano Capital Ozamiz will be expanding next year. They will be constructing a new building on the adjacent block. There is a problem to this. It seems Gaisano Capital doesnt want to build a covered bridge to connect the two bldgs. They want to build it beside the main bldg and transfer the road few meters from it. They were advised to coordinate with City Engrs office, City council and conduct public hearings. . I think, The road to be closed by the Gaisano group is vital and crucial since it will have a link to the coastal road project. Lets wait and see kung payagan sila sa plano nila :soon: :drunk::rofl:

Usahay ang location sa city pud ang primary factor para moasenso siya. Geographical location, airport, seaport, tax incentives para sa investors, educational ug health facilities sa area. Kung naa global financial crisis, maka-recover ra man pud ang mga businessmen ky pautangon man sila sa govt or banks hehehe. Basin lang pud nahimo silang city without having the minimum criteria para mahimong city jud ex. minimum no. of population and income. In this case, hinay or wala jud improvement sa city.

Infra to boost RX economy
By Ryan D. Rosauro
NORTHERN Mindanao officials are eyeing big-ticket “relevant infrastructure projects” as principal driver in pump-priming Mindanao’s largest regional economy amid its declining performance as a result of the global economic crisis.
Camiguin Governor Jurdin Jesus Romualdo, chair of the regional development council (RDC), said the primary challenge at this time is to “save and create more jobs.”
Although its exports in 2008 -- valued at US $889.55 million -- grew by more than a third over that of 2007, reduced demand for oleochemicals,
crude coconut oil and canned pineapples in recession-hit United States, Japan and Europe has led to an industrial slowdown in the region.
Contributing to the industrial slack is a projected weak demand for cement and steel.
The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) had earlier anticipated layoffs and shorter work hours to befall an estimated 34,000 workers throughout the region in 2009.
In its 2008 State of the Region Report, the National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) identified the big-ticket infrastructure projects as the US $167.1 million Laguindingan Airport, US $2 billion Hanjin Shipyard, and the P2.5 billion Panguil Bay Bridge.
The fast implementation of the ongoing airport development project is expected to employ around 3,700 persons throughout the year, the report noted.
On the bridge, Romualdo said that the contract on geophysical survey and geotechnical investigation on its site was already awarded last January, and its construction is targeted to commence sometime in 2010.
In a big blow to the region, the shipyard project was shelved by the Korean-owned Hanjin Group after some debacle with local officials. The venture was expected to employ 45,000 people either through direct or indirect employment.
But Romualdo said the RDC “remain positive” the company will still consider pursuing it at the Phividec Industrial Estate in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.
He emphasized the need to “boost private sector confidence” so that investors, especially of big-ticket projects, will be enticed to locate in the region. He pointed to the need to further reduce cost of doing business.
Agricultural engine
The 2008 Report on Regional Economic Developments prepared by the department of economic research of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) also cited the big-ticket projects as opportunities for positive performance for northern Mindanao, particularly in the industry and services sectors.
But the BSP also pointed to significant opportunities in agriculture, banking on an impressive sectoral performance last year.
The Neda said that regional agricultural productivity has been consistently rising from 6.7 percent in 2007, underpinned by greater physical access to market centers, expanding availability of irrigation and post-harvest facilities, massive provision of hybrid seeds and fertilizer subsidy.
This was a significant growth engine given that the sector employs more than 840,000 persons in the region.
The Neda report especially noted increased production in palay, white and yellow corn, fruits and industrial crops, and fisheries in 2008.
Meanwhile, the BSP report also noted a 10.3 percent “significant growth” of chicken production in the region which is a major contributor to the 5.8 percent national growth in 2008, and a 2.9 percent growth in cattle production.
Construction
Moreover, development officials are also looking into other growth areas of the regional economy in 2008 that can be cultivated further.
The construction of 4,024 housing units, mostly socialized housing, valued at P1.1 billion in 2008 contributed to regional economic performance.
The Neda expects that the adjustment in socialized housing loan ceiling by the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Committee (HUDCC), from P300,000 to P400,00, will help sustain the housing sector’s growth amid escalation of prices of construction materials. The HUDCC pegged interest rate still at six percent per annum.
Investments
The influx of investments coupled with the 10.7 percent growth in the trade subsector is credited by NEDA for generating 99,000 jobs in the region in 2008.
This would help explain the BSP report findings that showed northern Mindanao, along with Central Luzon, leading nine regions in the country in terms of decline in unemployment rate. In 2008, unemployment rate went down in northern Mindanao from 6 percent to 4.7 percent, 9.2 percent from 10 percent in Central Luzon.
Amid the global economic crisis, the agency is banking on the micro, small and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs) to cultivate new commercial and investment opportunities.
In 2008, the MSMEs accounted for a fourth of the P1.05 billion new investments in the region; they also absorbed more than three-fourths of the P8.5 billion loans granted by Land Bank, the Development Bank of the Philippines and Quedancor, the Neda report showed.
Hanjin scouts for more investments in N. Mindanao
HANJIN Heavy Industries and Construction Co. is scouting for more investment opportunities in Northern Mindanao, an official said Wednesday.
OIC-Regional Director Leon M. Dacanay Jr. of the National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) Northern Mindanao Regional Office met with Du Sik Mun, director and general nanager of Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Company, and Yoo Kyeing Seong and discussed the current and future regional projects that Northern Mindanao is pursuing and for local and foreign investors to invest on.
Dacanay, together with OIC-ARD Alan L. Olavides, oriented Mun and Seong on the regional profile of Northern Mindanao and informed them on the major projects that the region planned to pursue as stipulated in the Regional Development Plan (2004-2010) and the Regional Physical Framework Plan 2004-2030.
He also informed them that aside from the Panguil Bay Bridge which is being offered by the government under the “Public-Private Partnership” scheme, the region is also supporting projects related to power generation and solid waste management.
He further explained that as the planning period is about to end in May 2010, more programs and projects will further be identified as the region prepares its successor plan in 2010.
With this, he assured the visiting party that the office will closely coordinate with their company for further investment opportunities in the region.
Mun conveyed the interest of their company to invest in Northern Mindanao and promise to coordinate closely with Neda for further developments.
Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Co. is a Korean company and is interested to invest on construction of ship ports, airports, expressway, power plants and waste management projects.
Presently, Hanjin is working on the civil works and building component of the Laguindingan Airport Development Project (LADP). (PR)

Fahdingding August 30th, 2009, 04:42 PM Infra to boost RX economy
By Ryan D.
