At least 16 public schools in Northern Mindanao have been designated by the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), region 10, as registration sites for the 2nd nationwide PhilHealth Registration Day on Saturday, June 25.

These public schools will serve as venues to accommodate new enrollees in the region and educate them, as well as existing members, about the medical care benefits under the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP).

The following schools in region 10 have been designated as NPRD of PhilHealth Sabado II sites:
Cagayan de Oro Service Office - City Central School, Velez St., South City Central School (CES), Nazareth, West CES, Carmen and East City CES, Lapsan.

Iligan Service Office - Iligan City CES and Iligan City North CES, Maigo CES and Lanao National High School in Baroy.

Ozamiz City Service Office – Ozamiz City Central School (CCS), Tangub CCS and Oroquieta CCS and Gingoog City Service Office – Lunao Elementary School.

Bukidnon Service Office – Manolo CES, Valencia CES, Malaybalay City CES and Maramag CES.
This massive registration dubbed as “PhilHealth Sabado, Magseguro, Magparehistro,” is an advocacy activity that aims to bring into the NHIP new registrants and ensure that all Filipinos have access to quality healthcare services through a universal healthcare coverage.

The 1st Philhealth Sabado was launched on October 2, 2010, in response to the order of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III during his first State of the Nation Address that all Filipinos should have universal health insurance coverage by 2013.

This time, it targets to enroll parents and family members of public school students who are not yet members of the health insurance program. (PIA-10)

Savings, spendings of N. Minda folk slightly up

NORTHERN Mindanaoans slightly increased their savings in 2009 compared to what they saved in 2006. This was one of the results of the latest Northern Mindanao Family Income and Expenditure Survey released by the National Statistics Office on Wednesday. The survey is being conducted every three years. According to the results, the average saver in northern Mindanao had kept a total savings of P26 thousand in 2009. The average savings in 2006 was P25 thousand.

The purchasing power of the average Northern Mindanaoan also increased - a family here now had an average income of P165 thousand in 2009. It was P142 thousand in 2006. Spendings also increased. The average family in Region 10 spent P139 thousand in 2009 compared to only P117 thousand in 2006. The bulk of income comes from wages and individual business profits. Other forms of income include gifts and assistance, dividends from investments, imputed rental value of owner-occupied dwellings, varied interests and royalties, rentals including agricultural ones and pension.

The bulk of expenses went to food at 44.7 percent followed by house rent (9.7); transportation and communication (7.4 percent); fuel, light and water (6.2 percent); Educational fees of the children (4.8 percent); personal care and effects (3.9 percent); special family occasions (3.5 percent); durable furniture and equipment (3 percent); medical care (2.5 percent); and household operation (2.3 percent).
The Family Income and Expenditure Survey uses a stratified, three-stage sampling design. The first and third stage employs rimary sampling units while the second stage utilizes sample enumeration areas.

Survey weights are employed to produce valid estimates of the population parameter while base weights are computed to compensate for the unequal selection probabilities for the same design. These are then adjusted to account for unit nonresponse and to conform to known population distributions. The 2009 Family Income and Expenditure Survey was conducted into two parts - in July 2009 and January 2010.

Regional council endorses Pulangi project

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- The Infrastructure and Utilities Development Committee of the Regional Development Council 10 has favorably endorsed the 300-megawatt (MW) Pulangi V hydroelectric power project to the council for approval subject to some conditions.

"The proponent should update the project feasibility study to incorporate the revised financial and economic analysis of the project," said Jaime H. Pacampara, head secretariat of the Regional Development Council’s infrastructure committee.

"All the necessary clearances from the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Environment Management Bureau and National Water Resources Board should be secured by the proponent," he said.

Mr. Pacampara said the proponent should also secure endorsements from local government units, namely the provinces of Bukidnon and North Cotabato, and among others the municipality of Kibawe in Bukidnon and two of its barangays.

Pulangi V is located in the southern part of Bukidnon covering the municipalities of Kitaotao, Dangcagan, Kibawe and Damulog.

It is some 40 kilometers downstream of the existing Pulangi IV (255 MW) while its dam site would be located in the municipality of Pres. Roxas, North Cotabato.

The Pulangi V plant will have three units of 100 MW each.

It will involve the construction of river diversion facilities, dams, embankment and reservoir filling and commissioning.

A 20-km double-circuit 138-kilovolt transmission line would link it to an existing power substation in Kibawe.

Project proponent Greenergy Development Corp. revised project cost is P33 billion to be financed by still unidentified partners.

It is estimated to have a project timeline of 69 months from the award of construction contract to plant commissioning.

The Regional Development Council’s infrastructure committee, co-chaired by Ozamiz City Mayor Nova Princess E. Parojinog-Echavez and private sector representative Modesto C. Babaylan, found the project financially viable.

The project was originally proposed by the National Power Corp. (Napocor) in 1991 but had to repeatedly defer implementation of the project due to the power crisis and the 1997 Asian financial crisis.

Napocor eventually gave up on the project in 2001 with the passage of the Electric Power Industry Reform Act Law.

In 2009, Greenergy initiated the revalidation of the feasibility study, prioritizing hydrology and water flow tests in coordination with the National Water Resources Board and National Irrigation Administration.

Greenergy is engaged in energy and power sector consultancy and founded in 2009 by Cerael C. Donggay, former vice-president for Mindanao of Napocor. -- Michael D. Baños

The Regional Development Council of region -10 ( RDC-10) will be held in Ozamiz City on June 28, 2011.

City Mayors, Governors and president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines from region -10 are expected to attend this upcoming gathering.

FIRST HULAW HULAW FESTIVAL A SUCCESS

The first barangay initiated tourism activity has marked the victory
for barangay San Antonio which brought fame and honor not only to
the elected barangay officials but to the entire populace as well,
making the first Hulaw-hulaw festival a success held last June 12,
2011 a success.

The Hulaw-hulaw festival is a showcase of different dances and
rituals depicting from the old tradition of the fisher folks in a quest for
the abundance catch of fish. Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez
said, the Hulaw-hulaw festival initiated by the barangay officials which
was strongly supported by the barangay people is a laudable move in
promoting Ozamiz City.

The Hulaw-hulaw festival is dedicated to the beautiful island of
barangay San Antonio locally known as “Hulaw-hulaw” . The Island is
covered with beautiful white sand with crystal-clear sea water
located around four kilometers away from the coastline of the
barangay.

Punong Barangay Danilo Batchar in an interview said, he will sustain
the Hulaw-Hulaw festival even after his term of office as Punong
Barangay, as legacy for his people. Batchar is one of the blessed
fellow from the abundance of the Panguil Bay.

This coming July 16, 2011 Ozamiz City will be turning 63 years old for being
a chartered City of Misamis Occidental since the approval of Republic Act
125 , the law converting the municipality of Misamis into Ozamiz City on July
16, 1948.

Tourism Board and the City Tourism Office to release the program of activities

Ozamiz Public Mall marks 2nd year Anniversary

The second year anniversary of Ozamiz City Public Mall which was celebrated May 28, 2011 was the moment the Local Government Unit has thanking for dispite of all the challenges politics brought about for the past year, the stakeholders are still strongly showing their cooperation and supports for the success of the project.

For this year’s anniversary celebration , the City Economic Enterprise and Development Office in cooperation with the Ozamiz City Poor Women Market Vendors Association Inc. and the Women Resource Center are one in achieving a successful and memorable occasions .

Part of the celebration was the comedy-search for Mr. Feeling Machu and Miss Bilbil 2011, which drawn a huge happy crowd on the afternoon of May 27, held at the Public Mall’s Atrium.

The Lady Mayor, Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez stressed out that she was very happy knowing that the Public Mall is continued growing and generating income.

The Mayor said, she is optimistic that with the kind of cooperation the Public Mall Stakeholders had shown in spite of the negative interventions the politics made , good businessmen inside the mall will surely be helping the LGU.

Economic Enterprise Manager Mr. Jonathan Rubio has informed the public that Ozamiz city Public Mall has generated P30-M income in 2009 and it has increased to P35-M in 2010.

City Councilor Romeo Jimenez, chairperson of committee on Economic Enterprise said, there are developments and renovations the City has planning to implement in the public mall in near future.

MISAMIS Oriental Governor Oscar Moreno is reportedly planning to put up ferry boats that would travel from Laguindingan to Camiguin Island and Ozamiz City as part of the intermodal transportation system master plan of the Laguindingan Airport Development Project (LADP) in preparation for the airport’s smooth operation in the first quarter of 2012.

Maricel Casiño-Rivera, head of the Provincial Press Office, said the new special task force formed that would handle the other developments outside the LADP area will develop the seaport for the convenience of the passengers.

Rivera said it would be a long route if people travel by land whereas if they will be provided with ferry boats, it would only take one ride in going to the airport.

She said the LADP is conceived to provide airport facilities that will accommodate commercial air service to cater to the increasing number of passenger and cargo traffic along the Cagayan de Oro-Iligan Corridor (CIC), which is seen to boost the economic development in the region and improve air transportation safety.

“Since this is a big project of Moreno, he wants it to be perfect as much as possible which will qualify for international standards,” Rivera said

She also said that during the airport’s full operation, heavy traffic is expected to occur along the area, which might cause delays to passengers and other vehicles heading east.

Rivera said the special task force had already identified traffic management for convenient airport access from various strategic locations to address possible vehicular congestion.

“The national highways of Cagayan-Iligan road have existing two-way lanes that would not accommodate the inflow of vehicles once the airport starts its operation,” Rivera said.

She said the special task force is pushing for the prioritization and provision of funding from the national government for the development of a four-lane road along the Cagayan-Iligan corridor.

“The special committee will identify the land areas that will be hit by the road widening and negotiations with the lot owners will be executed,” Rivera said.

She added that a long-range land use plan shall be prepared to guide the orderly growth of the airport over the next 20 years while taking into account the needed flexibility of economic opportunities that might arise.

Rivera said Moreno and his group would initiate the formulation of a Laguindingan Airport master plan to make the optimal use of the airport and set out how it shall handle the growing demand for air travel in the coming years while considering the economic, social and environmental dimensions of the airport's operation within 2015 and 2030.

"The master plan will likewise ensure that the airport will hasten and create employment, growth and economic wealth to the people of Northern Mindanao," she said.

Osamco Oil Mill will lease 600sqm at Ozamiz seaport for their coco oil storage facility.
Osamco will be exporting coco oil in the coming weeks. so expect more foreign vessels to dock at Ozamiz seaport.
PPA Ozamiz will construct a warehouse facility.
A new passenger terminal with airport terminal like facility will be constructed with a budget of P80M.
The proposed new pax terminal will be built parallel to the existing terminal.
P150M is allotted for the present port expansion :okay:

Some 1,485,535 travelers visited Northern Mindanao last year, a remarkable 41 percent increase compared to the previous year.

Some generous individual provided me data from the regional office of the Department of Tourism and lo and behold, nearly half a million more tourists toured the region in a single year. Also, the average hotel occupancy rate in the region is around 66 percent in 2010. As shown in the table below, Cagayan de Oro – Misamis Oriental had a very high 80 percent average hotel occupancy rate. This proves why the hotel industry is booming in the city.

each appliance store naa nay mga tinaguan nga presyo dpendi na sa hangyo
sa mga costumer kung kugi gyud.. but naa poy uban nga fixed na jud ilang price.. kung installment usually either ma retain ang SRP or mas mutaas pa tungod sa interes.. kung cash.. for sure.. mo-ubos jud ang SRP

what's nice with Gloria bazar is that, daghan sila mga freebies nga gina offer
other stores also has their own different marketing strategy.. :)

pero kung e compare nimu sa Emcor, quality appliance, citi appliance, Imperial,etc! murag lesser cla gamay and yes naa pa gyud pod clay tinaguan nga presyo..

Even I agree nga barato ang Gloria Bazar pero Imperial akong suki kay wala koy e cash sa Gloria :lol::lol:
