City Library Goes Digital

The Oroquieta City Public Library (OCPL) and the National Library of the Philippines (NLP) had a memorandum of agreement(MOA) to further develop and integrate the existing public library systems nationwide. It can be recalled that during the incumbency of Mayor Jorge T. Almonte through then City Librarian Mrs. Yolanda Neri this MOA was signed. To supplement the MOA, the NLP recently turned over a computer set; software, and other electronic materials for the implementation of the “Integrated Library System / Digital Library” and the NLP will provide for the training/technical support, and extend administrative support and supervision over the integration of the network system as embodied in the agreement. The city is the first recipient of such equipment in the whole province of Misamis Occidental.

During the turnover ceremony City Librarian- OIC Mrs. Cheryl Aguilar commented “we should be grateful to NLP for giving us these materials, the people of Oroquieta can now access any vital information even to the archives and existing books of the National Library with their “fingertips” through this digital system”. Students, research enthusiasts and the academe who lack the facilities and the necessary “tools” for their research work are encouraged to use the library digital network, wherein they could find topics from the frozen mammoths of the Arctic to the smallest zooplankton of the Pacific.

Presently, the city library under the supervision of the IT Division of NLP is training personnel for the full implementation of the program. For more details please visit the City Public Library 3rd flr., Annex Bldg. City Hall. (OCM-MISO)

The City of Oroquieta inaugurated a new commercial port located in the barangay of San Vicente Bajo yesterday. The port which was constructed through the efforts of the former city mayor and now 1st District Congressman Atty. Jorge T. Almonte was completed a week ago through a Build Transfer scheme between Grace Construction. Under the agreement the city will be billed only per completion of the project .The total project cost is 30 million Pesos. The congressman was very thankful to acquire such an agreement. In his inaugural message he said “ I’m very happy that we have finished a major Flagship Project that would improve the living conditions of the people without the need for a loan and we saved from unnecessary interests and penalties that financial Institutions might imposed.” He said that “juridical resources”also made the port possible and thanked the local city officials led by his son Mayor Jason P. Almonte and members of the Sangguniang Bayan for supporting by coming up with resolutions necessary that will complete the port. The port facility is equipped with a 2 storey concrete office building and a passenger holding area terminal.

The affair was attended by Philippine Ports Authority Mr. Efren Quiñonez PPA Ozamis Port Manager ,City Mayor Jason P. Almonte , SB members led by Vice Mayor Harry Guantero, Provincial Board members, City and Municipal officials, Businessmen, Representatives of Lite Shipping Corp., Barangay Officials and several guests. .The local Parish Priest of San Vicente Bajo Rev. Fr. Rogelio Taguran led the blessing ceremony.

Meanwhile, Oroquieta City Mayor Jason Almonte stressed that , “economic activity will roll, business will flourish and the people’s quality of life and living conditions will benefit from this project.” He also said that “Oroquietanians and people from neighboring towns will have the comfort travelling by sea.” Lite Shipping a Cebu based shipping corporation is intending to start operation soon.(OCM-MISO)

tama ka master! OCTAVS for Ozamiz City Technology and Vocational School... kit-an nako sa wiki... :)

P60 and P70 ang sa Geege. Updated sila but not as fast as Metro Manila cinemas. Mostly sa simulcasts nila kay Filipino films although sometimes Western films pud pag kanang mga sikat na daan but not always. Picture quality, not that good. Murag home projector lang na mas dako. Hehe. Usahay hiwi gamay and usahay naay muskip. Basin sa ilang cinema projector na ni. Sound, usahay hinaay kaayo and madungog jud ang pikas especially pag action. Hahaha. Madungog sad nimo ang ulan! "Environmental effects" tawag namo. Wahaha. Daghan pud sa mga manan-aw kay walay courtesy ug disiplina. Kusog kaayo mag-tabi, over kaayo mukatawa.

morag 300 and pumpboat bai 20mins ang travel time. 250pesos ang swimming with the dolphins apil na ang pagkaon para sa dolphins og naa kay guide nga dive master. taga-i og tip gamay ang dive master para dad-on ka sa gawas sa fence mag snorkeling with corals og mga dagkong isda ( barracuda, tuna, laya og lapu-lapu). also bring sunblock kay init jud didto and bring your own snorkeling gear or you can rent there for 50pesos I think.

Shipping to see Cebu is everyday now! does this also translate to daily every night from Cebu?. This is really good for Misamis and Zambo Sur because you literally transact business in one day using the boat as your overnight stay. Example, take the morning flight to Cebu via Pagadian or Ozamiz, then have late dinner and sleep in the cabin at Cokialong same day back to ozamiz!
