South/Luma

The second phase of Portland-based South Group's South project opened in June and about 90% of the 236 units have sold, according to a spokeswoman for South Group. The $80 million development at 11th and Hope streets is a 19-story tower and is only the second residential building in Downtown to earn a green certification as a LEED building. The project includes penthouses, two-story townhomes, and one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts ranging from 750 to 3,400 square feet. Amenities include hardwood floors, built-in kitchens, designer fixtures, balconies and a plaza pool deck shared with Elleven, the first South development, which opened in 2006. - Los Angeles Downtown News

now to fill it with people and repeat all over downtown LA! i really like coming down 11th towards staples, its very nice. Cant wait until Jardin and LA central are U/C, then it will be phenomenal! The area from 12th to Pico should be the next block that gets remade, hopefully South Group has more plans for South park.

^ How do you feel about the landscaping being right smack dab in the middle of the sidewalk? I think if they were going to add landscaping to the sidewalk, they should've widened it first.

Interesting touch......like I said, I've never done it any other place before.

A few weeks old, but...

The city is currently installing street lamps spec'd by the South Group. These are being placed along Hope, 11th and Grand at the perimeter of the completed buildings.

I used to work close by this area in the late eighties... I can't believe the transformation it's gone through this place. It's just amazing!!

^ From SSP:

The first signs of life have appeared for the new restaurant @ the base of LUMA in South Park. "HYGGE" described as a european restaurant and lounge, with a danish bakery. Unfortunately they're also promoting this space as a rental for special events, so I highly doubt we'll actually see anything happening here anytime soon.

Let me guess. Those flowers haven't been hanging from that lamp post before. That may say more about the plans for the area. Could be wrong :)

Not sure. Was visiting and this one must have been near 800 or 900 thousand bucks easily. Extremely spacious and nicely done. HOA fees are near a thousand bucks a month.
