DubbaG June 11th, 2003, 05:36 AM Green, dense and right on the water. I really like those glass twins. What are they called?
8/10
BG918 June 11th, 2003, 07:01 AM Not bad at all, I'm quite impressed actually. No height but very dense, interesting, and "clean" looking. Not what I'd expect out of a prarie city like Regina. I like those glass twins too, they really give the skyline a modern, sophisicated feel. 8.5/10
De Snor June 11th, 2003, 08:21 PM a city with many possibilities , 8
Oaronuviss June 11th, 2003, 09:17 PM Why is it that people vote so low and yet they don't post why?
Are they seriously mentally challanged?

A rather impressive skyline for Regina... very green for a prairie city... the glass twins are the obvious centerpiece... very neat buildings
BGT June 12th, 2003, 05:49 PM 8/10

renell June 20th, 2003, 09:36 AM 5.5/10 good skyline for it's population. the skyline though needs a few more talls.. something to stick out

and no, its not a very tall city, but you cant expect a city of 192, 000 to have huge skyscrapers. For a city of its size I think its great.
Victoria April 19th, 2005, 07:31 PM Nise city, 8/10.
Wallbanger April 20th, 2005, 03:34 AM In my opinion, a much better skyline than Saskatoon. Which one is bigger, Regina or Saskatoon? Regina could easily pass of as a city with a million people. It looks like something in the American Mid-West.

Saskatoon is bigger... Im not sure what Saskatoon's population is anymore, but I know there are over 200 000 easily... most likely around 210k... Whereas Regina is at about 192 000.
And I agree, Regina has a MUCH nicer skyline than Sasktoon.
GeorgeCostanza2 April 20th, 2005, 09:11 AM definitely the most underrated small skyline in canada. it's more satisfying than winnipeg.
sorry winnipeg.
GeorgeCostanza2 April 20th, 2005, 09:13 AM on second thought, winnipeg stretches way the fudge out.
regina is more satisfying than the typical winnipeg shot with those 3 buildings there. you know the ones.

Jaybird April 26th, 2005, 05:08 AM Great skyline for its size, and it is quite large and amazing! 9/10.

worldwide May 26th, 2005, 06:51 AM i paid 133$ for a greyhound ticket from london to vancouver and in the regina bus station it got stolen from me and i had to lay out 180$, of my freinds money, to get a new one.
i nearly got stranded in this town, and i would have been at a loss for a place to sleep, cause all the parks downtown are bum territory. lots of drugs and alcohol in regina from what ive seen.
Nate May 26th, 2005, 07:23 AM haha the regina bus station is a dump :(... which is soooo sad for a capital city. The one in Saskatoon is much better. And yeah Regina is pretty bad for drugs and alcohol, but there are lots of hotels downtown too, so i dont think you would have really been at all that much of a loss for it.
night-man May 27th, 2005, 02:29 AM hahaha i am sorry worldwide. after this story i'll give it 8/10.
canadian-eh May 30th, 2005, 02:48 AM wow good pictures and it looks clean and it has good buildings...
Nouvellecosse June 17th, 2005, 02:25 PM Excellent skyline for such a tiny population, and it has good aesthetics. In absolute terms it's quite tiny, but overall it is appropriate and attractive. Unfortunately, I can't go over 6.5 due to its absolute size.
JRQ June 26th, 2005, 01:41 AM Pretty nice for its size-
8/10

Muyangguniang July 24th, 2005, 06:12 PM very overrated city
xantarc July 26th, 2005, 10:38 AM 8/10. Very impressive skyline for this size. Good example for showing what Omaha or Des Moines should have.
mumbojumbo August 4th, 2005, 09:37 PM Can we stop this:
"Its good for its small population"
Who gives a crap? My question to you guys is how this small city from Manitoba with a very mundane skyline is ranked in the top 20 in the World atm.
Nate August 4th, 2005, 10:36 PM ^its not from manitoba, look at a map.
and neither do i think it should be top 20. it is a great skyline for the size, but not top 20 material...
mumbojumbo August 4th, 2005, 10:40 PM ^^ My bad
♣628.finst August 6th, 2005, 05:56 AM My neighboring province done equally well as we does in building beautiful skyline!
Manitoba- we have beautiful Winnipeg with pop. almost 700,000.
Saskatchewan- they have amazing Regina with pop. just 200,000.
I love both of them.
Nate August 7th, 2005, 10:49 PM Some recent pictures of Regina taken from this site (http://www.corrine.ca/AboutRegina.html):

http://uregina.ca/~wollbaun/holj%20091.jpg
http://uregina.ca/~wollbaun/holj%20074.jpg
Also a side note... you can tell where the city ends, by where the trees end, since all the trees in Regina were planted by the people. It should be pretty much treeless like the surrounding prairie. Not bad for 192,000 people eh?
mikep August 8th, 2005, 04:29 AM ^The second picture is so beautiful
pali September 1st, 2005, 01:55 AM nice skyline! and i like those twin towers.

well, you'll be happy to know that they're bulldozing the old crappy bus station and building a brand new one, right across from the police HQ :P

7/10.
I can't imagine that Regina is a drug city, like some of you guys said.
Does anyone have pics of Saskatoon or Edmonton? I am very curious. Here in Europe we know nothing about Canadian cities, except for Toronto, Montreal, Quebec, Vancouver, Ottawa and maybe Calgary.

Buse October 31st, 2005, 02:25 PM From some angles it looks like a good looking city, also with quite a nice skyline. But the city centre (with the highrise buildings) looks boring from the air photos, half the city centre is parking lot.
Still, this is rate the skyline, so because it looks oke from a distance: 7/10.

to answer your question, Yes, they are seriosly mentally challanged. I mentioned it on the skyline list thread also. I cant see how any city in thes ssc comunity could rate below a 5 or 6, never mind 1 2 or 3. it sabatoges what would otherwise be a good vote.

In any case, a little info...
Regina, is a city with a population of around 180,000 (200,000 metro) and is the Capital of Saskatchewan. A little note... virtually all the trees in these pictures were planted. Regina is on the prairie, so it would have been just flat empty field for the most part.

It is actually nice.
I really like the downtown core.

girlicious_likeme November 19th, 2008, 12:09 AM Regina is the greenest city in the world. lol. Thanks to the farms just outside Regina.
When you multiply Regina's population by 5 and it's skyline, then comapre it to Calgary. They will look the same, with Calgary taking HQ of oil sector while Regina for the agricultural/potash sector.

Nate March 23rd, 2012, 07:15 AM I took advantage of the unseasonably warm spring weather and went for a little bike ride around Regina's downtown, so I thought I'd get a few new pictures of Regina.
As of the last updated statistics, the poofpulation the city is at around 200,000; with the metro at 220,000.
The pictures were with my cellphone, but I think they are alright nonetheless, so without further ado...
Starting to the Northwest of Downtown... A Hotel is currently being constructed in the foreground:

A few pictures of the railyards (where a new stadium, design to be decided, will be constructed):

The Casino (housed in the old train station):

Again, showing the railyards right outside of downtown behind the Casino:

That's because winter just ended and the trees haven't gotten their summer on yet. :)
Some older shots when the trees aren't bare:

Leaves don't really survive the -30s and -40s of winter...
isaidso March 23rd, 2012, 10:15 PM Some of those areas could do with some sprucing up though. Cracked sidewalks, large expanses of grim concrete, and quite a ramshackle looking buildings don't paint a bright picture. It's not just the lack of foliage like you're suggesting.

The beginning is a little gritty, but that's because it borders on the old warehouse district and has been the site of a CP railyard for 100 years, industrial rail yards are never a pretty place, but those are being moved outside the city with a stadium and entertainment district replacing it, so there's are plans in the future.
As far as cracks go, winter just ended, which is when you start to see more cracks due to the freezing and thawing as the seasons change (ranges from -40 to +30 aren't exactly easy on infrastructure). The summer repairs won't have started yet. And Other than that, there is really just one building I see that could do with some renewal (the one beside the white Leader building), the other buildings are quite well taken care of... Which are the other ramshackle buildings you're seeing?
As for the expanses of concrete comment, it's downtown... Downtown is always glass, stone, and concrete. You don't generally have wide boulevards with grass everywhere downtown. If you're talking about the square though, those are German paving stones that have a diamond pattern with two different shades of grey. It doesn't come out as well in pictures, but if you look closer you'll see it.

eastadl March 24th, 2012, 09:40 AM not bad for a city just over 200,000:)
Yellow Fever March 24th, 2012, 10:11 AM For a small city with a metro pop. just above 200,000, Regina's skyline is pretty damn good. I honestly haven't seen any small urban center has such an impressive downtown core.
Sarcasticity March 24th, 2012, 11:05 PM I agree with the poster. Those has got to be the most depressing set of pictures I've seen (okay, a little exaggerated) but it seems like Regina has pretty skyline but those pics either don't do justice to the city, or the city does need a little bit of work.
