Bandra W is very dense and deprived of open space with all those low/ mid rises. Cov Boy February 20th, 2010, 06:14 PM The Worli Fort and the surrounding area should be made into a proper waterfront area for tourists and give the Worli fishing village proper housing. Suncity February 20th, 2010, 06:53 PM The Worli Fort and the surrounding area should be made into a proper waterfront area for tourists and give the Worli fishing village proper housing. It will not happen any time soon. They have not been able to do anything with the Colaba/Nariman point areas as well. There are just plans, more plans and even more plans. Unfortunately there is vested interest amongst sections of politicians, bureacrats, social activists and NGOs to maintain the status quo of hopelessness. Has this been taken from Navi Mumbai/Uran? bhargavsura March 14th, 2010, 10:43 PM If you are talking about the panorama with RNA Mirage to Planet Godrej, I think it is taken from somewhere near Walkeshwar or the Malabar Hill area. Bombay Boy March 15th, 2010, 06:52 AM yes. looking over hanging gardens, so probably somewhere on ridge road Cov Boy March 15th, 2010, 02:37 PM Great panorama! IchimaruGin1 March 15th, 2010, 03:01 PM i dont know. Looking at some of the cityscapes around SSC mumbai in comparison does have a very ugly skyline. Maybe due to residential highrises... Marathaman March 15th, 2010, 03:52 PM Mumbai's primary skyline is composed of residential blocks, something that is hidden in the background in most cities whose primary skyline comprises the CBD. Abhishek901 March 15th, 2010, 08:22 PM i dont know. Looking at some of the cityscapes around SSC mumbai in comparison does have a very ugly skyline. Maybe due to residential highrises... Maybe because buildings are old and most of them have same colour (off white). It still doesn't looks that bad but the worse thing in Mumbai is the advertisement hoardings everywhere. BMC should keep a check on their numbers instead of just looking for revenues. Nariman Point always interests me. Most of the buildings should be re-cladded here to give it a more 21st look and feel eps. Express Towers. The Trident, Oberoi and Air India Buildings are very well maintained & still look modern even though they are old buildings. bhargavsura March 17th, 2010, 04:06 PM Yeah. I kinda agree. They should start doing that. They are coming up with so many redevelopment plans at NP that you get lost on what are they doing. But again I feel that areas like VT/CST and Flora Fountain should be more organized. It could still be made better. IchimaruGin1 March 17th, 2010, 04:26 PM even nariman point for some reason looks residential than commercial...bring on the glass.. the buildings in nariman point are tasteful though, designed well. pratyushics March 18th, 2010, 09:49 PM not that great but worth posting http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/697/4443260310f0bbf47ed8.jpg copyright gullig @flickr bhargavsura March 18th, 2010, 10:10 PM not that great but worth posting copyright gullig @flickr Page is unavailable. Brilliant. The slums are the sore thumb as usual. :bash: Methinks in a timeline ... beyond 'Right Now' re: slums Therfore, Mumbai is the world's biggest under-exploited metropolis. So much develop-able land OMG! Slums, Salt Pans, low rise colonies, run down buildings ... Future is very bright for intensification in Mumbai ... Slums, Salt Pans, low rise colonies, run down buildings ... are the world's biggest builder/developer/real-estate opportunity ... all that is needed are real-life facilitators ... netas if u will ... who can balance profit-greed-need of all stakeholders involved ... ppl. with VISION! Good news is that is now happening ... we in this thread, media, Globalisation (Slumdog Millionaire), moonshots, nukes is giving Mumbai and India a sense of INDIA-A National Identity ... beyond I, Me, Mine & my village (... hehe ... Jai Kisan, Jai Jawan no more ) Things are changing rapidly ... best thing is die-hard oldtimers ... the aged ... socialists, unionists, gandhiits types who put a spanner in the way of progress are dying out ... Indians of Gen. next are a more confident, less insecure ... more 'Indianised' .... more progressive ... More get-up-&-go attitude needed. patentneer March 27th, 2010, 12:18 AM One day, I'm not sure how soon, Mumbai is going to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. And the best. Euro ur Hindi is kinda wack.. samjhoge isnt the same as samjho gaye :lol::lol: (dont take it personally, it happens when you live abroad) :) I agree with part 1 above, give it 10 yrs. Part 2 ... hehe ... Mum-Pu (...hehe just made it up:)) corridor is AWESOME. Mark my words, Mumbai-Pune corridor ... and Mumbai-Pune-Goa (... Mumpug anyone) triangle ... hehe ... I hope I haven'nt trigerred any separatist ideas ... could turn into the best 'country' in the world! MumPu  Another awesome wonder is the Narmada dam + Mumbai-Delhi Corridor coming up (... never mind the bs re: Narmada ...) this is leading to densification of arid habitat, hopefully take some pressure off of Bihari-Bhaiyya types on Mumbai & Delhi with support staff work in farms, factories, labour for construction, drivers etc. while the locals get into setting up industry and white-blue collar work. For now, India's cities are ghettoised, slumdogged and construction zones ... but for those who look at India as retirement home or pensioners paradise ... check out the thread on Lavasa, Amby Valley ... that's how our cities will look in the future. I mean it, it's no big deal really ... except in the past socialists, communists, unionists froze progress as there was too much British (cities, factories, mills, railways, banks, airlines ... all loo ... sorry 'nationalised' ... or ghettoised maybe the right word)stuff leftover from the empire ... to loot! Why work when 1 could pass laws to loot ... for eg. why does every city still have huge 'Cantonment' ... these were built to segregate and protect 'goras' from the ... hehe ... natives ... why army/navy don't privatise ... sell .... and move to real bases out of town ... because its loot ... free! Why .. hehe ... salt pans in Mumbai city ... because Gandhi (nothing against Gandhi but those who perverted his ideas) said so bhargavsura March 27th, 2010, 04:32 AM http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/9342/mumbai1.jpg http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/5176/mumbai.jpg Source: Humayun Peerzaada bhargavsura March 27th, 2010, 04:37 AM http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/9342/mumbai1.jpg http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/7571/mumbaij.jpg Source: Humayun Peerzaada bharatiya March 27th, 2010, 07:10 AM Wow, Humayun continuing to impress us with these wonderful shots, truly amazing. @patentneer I wrote that 2 months ago haha!
