I love the Cuffe Parade shots and how wonderful are the roof tops gardens and inmagine the view for the residents!!!!

Im also glad those two towers are having repairs done, "Jolly Maker Towers"?

Mumbai really needs to do something about the fishing villages and slums in the Colaba / Cuffe Parade area. Get all the socialist NGOs (who are always protesting) together and give them the task of coming up with a plan to rehabilitate the fishermen in this area itself. Involve the fishermen. Put a deadline of one year to decide on the plan. The funds should come through the JNURM and some of the richer NGOs can open their purses and contribute their dollar donations too. The local MP should give up his funds too. But that is thinking too much I guess. Housing is so expensive in the city that it is ridiculous.

I quite agree Suncity. The fishing village looks more like a slum and with all the improvements going on in Mumbai the residents of the village should be given proper housing. The waterfront of Mumbai around Cuffe Parade/Colaba needs massive improvement. What I always thought that Cuffe Parade could do with a Marina for Yachats and Boats, perhaps a club/hotel which would benefit the area as well as attract tourism.

A fascinating photo of the Haji Ali skyline... not only are the contrasts amazing, but I never saw this angle before. The Nehru planetarium looks great, as does that other building complex next to it (what is it?). Hopefully when these slums are cleared in a few years time, it will look even better!

The Nehru planetarium looks great, as does that other building complex next to it (what is it?).

Which one?

If you are talking of the Discovery of India Building (the circular tower), the complex next to it with the curved roof is the sports centre u/c.

The Nehru Planetarium is the small dome shaped building. The Science Museum (the spread out building complex in the middle of the slums) and the Planetarium are separated by the slums.

You can also see the Atria Mall (if I am not mistaken).

thats not the main road, thats pochkhanawala road, pretty cramped up at both ends

the best thing for bwsl would be to join it at mahakali road (which is near worli village). thats a 120 foot road that joins the main a.b. road

or else take it to the end of sea face and join it at lovegrove. sea face again narrows at both ends and will involve rights turns and tight angles. the worli landing is a farce

there are many fishing villages in bombay. cuffe parade, worli, mahim, bandra, etc. bombay was basically a fishing community before the europeans came here

or are they jus independent people that go out like with some companions and return with a whole lotta fish from near by

anyway i have a question does atria have 2 entrances or a sign on the bcak that says atria because if im not mistaken atria is at the left of the road with the flyover(dont know road or flyovers name)

anyway does anyone think we should make a banner for republic day

they need to come up with some more modern buildings instead of just tall buildings which look very ugly. Yes skyscraper=power but not if the buildings look like they will fall any second. I preffer small modern building over tall disgusting buildings

Good to see Navi Mumbai developing fast on the realty front.:)
Which road is shown in the pic ?

Yeah Navi Mumbai coming on well and love the colours of the buildings.

That raod pictured above is Palm Beach Road. The road already looks run down! The lines need re-painting and landscaping of the central reserve and either side needs to be urgently, i.e. more Palm Trees. Construction may be stail going on which is fair enough but this doesn't help the image. May as well call in Old Mumbai.

The 1st phase of the make over should be complete now as it was scheduled to be the end of Jan 2007.

The second phase should start soon with the painting and landscaping of the art deco precinct. I did hear that has been delayed or something because of protests to the bungalows?

Some needs to confirm this and up-load the latest photo's.

Anderi right? A nice suburb that and a great photo opportunity!

That's Oberoi Sky Heights (the tall one) in the first picture towards the left.

Can't see tower two as that is still under construction.

Looks like Anderi has scope for more development and high rises fro the patches of land. But I would still welcome more green spaces and small parks for the people and childern to play in such a congested city.

this is a rather interesting picture of bandra and it highlights a rather upper middle class area of bandra

the back of the first tall building u see with the alternating terraces is Chand Terraces some 20 floors, it was one Bandras tallest buildings behind it (not seen as its blocked by building) is Holy Family Hospital and opposite that is where Chunkey Pandey lives.

in the background yuo can see either Vignetta or a building on Hill Rd im not sure it looks to be some 20 stories high as well

The pics of Marine Drive looks nice, its the best pic ive seen of Marine Drive.

The line painting on the roads make all the difference making it look modern and organisied. The phase one refurbishment of the Drive is finished but need pics of the new Marine Drive. Phase Two is yet to go adead.

but its like worse in the suburbs

like the rick drivers have the signals timed so they no that when it turns red theres like a 2 sec delay before the other traffic starts so they jus speed

and it doesnt help that some of the other traffic's rickshaws like no when the signal is gonna turn green and start before it does

The best photos of Mumbai ive seen and thanks for super sizing them also.

I like the yachts in the first pics of Cuffe Parade (CP) and I do think a jetty and marina should be built at CP since there any many yachts anchored around there.

Thanks for the pic of Soham Apartments as I wondered what that building being constructed is behind the Legend tower. Oh by the way that building in the front is getting a paint job/repairs so its not a new building but an older one.

If only the buildings in Mumbai were to be painted it would change the face of Mumbai totally!!!

Well, in the Marine Drive (oorah) photo, (especially in the uncropped, unresized panos) you can see lots of the buildings there undergoing repainting/restoration. I think the 2nd phase of Marine Drive involves refurbishing those art deco buildings, in any case

Great pics of Mumbai!

New towers coming up as seen above.

Can anyone shed light on those towers under contruction. I know I Imperial Towers is one of them.

I like the first picture. What a difference line markings make in the city. Those building before CST and Muncipal Corp. looking good conidition too. Only wish they start the restoration of CST/VT.

There are two on the left of Shreepati and three from the right of Imperial.

Thanks Jai, yeah the phase two of Marine Drive should make more visable changes which is welcome and most required and deserving. Hope to see more pics of Marine Drive soon.

Renovated Marine Drive pathway

Why can't they have the missing trees replanted while they did the renovation on Marine Drive. At least if would have given a uniform look ... and some shade. Maybe they could have planted Gulmohar ... I remember seeing Gulmohar in full bloom in Kamla Nehru park; they look very pretty. Just posting some pics I took.

These are some shots taken by this guy from Worli Fort. This area in my opinion has tremendous potential for some amazing skyline shots, and can well become a perfect tourist attraction, once it is rennovated and the skyline grows by 2-3 years.

Love the photos!

I agree with Luckystreak about Marine Drive. The renovation as made a great difference to the shabby condition it was before but palm trees, plants, flowers, sun shades, benches etc should have been put up along the stretch. Perhaps phase two will see this change????

Regarding pan spitting it is tough to change an age old tradition :(
Kerala has supposedly banned spitting and blowing nose in public but dunno how many are aware of such a law. The bottomline is they should reach the masses and mass campaigns towards building up awareness alone can help.

Surprisingly I dont see a lot of Glass in the new constructions . They seem to be more of the traditional style of complete concrete cover (or) maybe its too early to comment. I would like a hoard of tall glass buildings lining the
queens necklace. But thats just me.

I agree, monyaam, Mumbai, and India, needs to build more glass buildings, especially in highrises/supertalls, as I have seen many glass midrises but not too many all-glass highrises. It will come with time, I hope, to make an even better India.

Don't you think Shreepart Arcade is a funny design? The design is different on each side. The top of the building looks just plain silly with that stupud roof. I think its a bunglow built on top.

My first thought was that it was Rushabh Towers, considering the height and the color of the paint.......and also the location. But yes, this could be the Sarvauday Heights/Nahar Seth apartments, and from the looks of it....they have topped out and are heightwise at par with Kalpataru and Belvedere. RNA Mirage near passport office Worli and Orbit Heights are two buildings that should be towering by now.....especially Mirage since it's gonna be ready for occupation by July/August 2007.

Other tall buildings which are being kept under wraps and yet are supposedly progressing fast are two projects by Raheja in the Worli/Haji Ali/Parel area. They too should be up on the horizon anytime now.

Hmmm....have newer renderings been posted on this forum. Anyways I am glad that 150 mts is the new 100 mts in town. Only in the last 2 yrs we have seen a jump of 50 mts or so on an average. I guess, taller corporate towers will follow now sooner than later.

some of the colonial buildings look better kept than some of the newer ones

where was the garden pic taken as well as the canteen one

and i bet u som eof the ppl living in tall buildings overlooking construction sites for future tall buildings will complain about dust and stuff hence harming the effort

oh and i guess that could be a banner

I like the Hiranandani Gardens buildings by Hafeez.

There are some older tall buildings in Mumbai that look awful with those air con fans stuck outside the buildin which ends up making the building look ugly indeed and messy.

To me looks more like the original design of oberoi woods. Anyways....very impressive considering the fact that three huge towers have been constructed at a very rapid pace unlike indian standard. These are signs, that the industry is maturing very fast in india in terms of commercial thinking.

Some people complain for the sake of feeling important about themselves. Look at the rickshaw driver, hardly scowling at the obscene nature of that poster...

It is a risky billboard advert but even in the UK that would have drawn complaints. If she wasn't showing her underwear no-one would have battered an eye lid!

i have seen soo many other ones like this in mumbai, they didn't get taken down

and i have seen guys in similar poses modeling underwear on bill boards sometimes with no pants on

i consider that obscene where can i lodge a complaint

Its not like her underwear is any different from the stuff girls wear on beaches, even in India.
