Moscow is the Russian Capital, which became a huge city(over 9 million habitants) during the Soviet regime.
The city containts the 2st tallest free standing structurein the world(Ostanikino Tower).
The city skyline is based on beautiful churches(like the one in the red square) and wedding cake tall buildings-
very unique combination of two contradictory beliefs- Communism and Religion.

You must start new Moscow skyline poll after completion U/C skyscrapers.

I've always liked moscow but the skyline isn't that good yet.
I give it 6/10 with the hope of seeing a better skyline in the future.

of course there are commies blocks, but i really like the style of the city (or almost of the pics shown... looks really cool, and what about of the red plaza ? i give it an 8, but i except something more in the future regarding scrapers in the future... ;) )

Moscow is quite beautiful. 9/10 for me. I heard that they are planning to constuct 4 supertalls of 300+ height. I think they will be of some very unique and interesting designs. I hope they are built.

i was in moscow in october 2002 - loved it there. great city, lots of cool stuff to see, but not much of a structured skyline - except the stalinist-style palaces like hotel ukraine (where i stayed). st petersburg, being so low-rise as it is, has a much more beautiful skyline and is a better looking city overall

Its hard to rate a skyline like this - riddled with incredible architecture and rancid commie blocks alike - a real conundrum.

But for the sheer elegance of the main landmark towers/buildings, and the fact that this city oozes mystery, danger, intrigue, poverty, wealth, future and history all at the same time, I have to give it an 8.

Ok right now its a (6/10). Technically Moscow has its share of high rise building, but they are all scattered throught the city rather than being in a cluster (which forms the skyline itself). Hopefully once Moscow City, and many other high rises currently under construction, gets finished, there will be a definate skyline.

The city at street level is currently much better than its skyline. I gave the skyline 7, but the important thing is not the current grade but the dynamics of change. Both the city and the skyline have immense room for improvement and both are making strides. IMO in 5-7 years it will be undisputably best skyline of Europe. And barring major unforseen collaps of the economy - this is only beginning of even greater things to come.

Our old nemesis "Mother Russia" is taking on capitalism with full force since the end of the cold war in the early 1990's. Moscow's skyline has a couple of major projects taking shape to form a commercial hub for the country.

Moscow= 5 now

Moscow in the near future will be a force to contend with in terms of skylines.

Gave it an 8/10. It will be interesting to see how the city will look in a few years.

I don't think I'd see the difference either if I didn't live in Moscow, Coth. :)

True its often hard to tell, since there plenty of industrial zones located in Moscow, mainly on the outskirts though. Although most of the chimneys in the photos are central heating plants, as basically 99% or Moscovites live in apartments and don't have personal heating systems found typically in individual houses.

Filevsky park. It's supposed to be green actually. I think trees are not green yet because of the weather anomaly Moscow had this winter, or maybe it's just not the time yet...

Moscow fascinates me. Really a city that I want to visit! Some parts of the city is quite frightning (a reminder of a very cold, unpersonal past) while others are warm and inviting and others are just a tad too over the top. Some of the newer towers especially - they are just too weird, look like they will topple over (especially resi blocks). This is in stark contrast again with the commie blocks of the past. Beautiful old buildings. amazing rich history. It is a bit hard to comprehend so many different elements in one city.

I give it a 6.5.

Wow, Im positive impressed by Moscow. Looks like a very big city with hellavu lot midrise some recent citygigants. This together with a beautifull old centre, I give Moscow 7 points.

Moscow has a bit of an image problem in the west. Bleak, depressing, cold, drab, poor, etc. This thread proves that Moscow is rapidly modernizing and is booming. As a Canadian, and citizen of another northern country, the development of Moscow intrigues me. A large northern metropolis outside of Canada offers interesting comparisons.

I have little doubt that Moscow will one day have the best skyline in Europe. London and Paris seem to be building tall lately, but Moscow seems to have the potential to surpass both of these skylines.

Thanks to the new city centre, you'll get a kickass skyline, so I give it a 9.5 :)

Errm, I dunno... For sure, they're buildin a lot up there, but I don't see a good concept on this. It needs more dense, quality, height - But the Sisters add a remarkable charme to it, very special... Tough decision. :colgate:

this city's kinda like london. doesn't really have a skyline (at least yet) but it has some great landmark buildings. ima have to give this one a 3, but im pretty sure this will be a good one in the future. :)

That last photo of Moscow looks like something out of a sci-fi movie/book... the towers look like they belong in Asian cities such as Shanghai or Seoul. They look a bit out of place for Europe.
Still, it's nice to see that Moscow is enjoying a construction boom!

Its a really nice make up of buildings. it looks Amazing. But there's too much glass, no contrast. It kind of bugs me. anything planned for that area that isn't glass? Its really good though, 8.5/10
