chymera00 October 30th, 2008, 05:15 PM After knowing out about sa Perry Todd's kay whyte, nag try kmi sang friends ko. Dako2x guid man ang burger, It's even bigger than my palm with fingers spread out. Grilled Burger with extra patty and buttered mushroom guin kaon ko, mga 3/4 lang na ubos ko ^_^
Nag try man kami sa Bauhinia. It's good pero mahal (in the sense nga gamay ila servings sang food aside sa moderately above affordable ang prices nila). What we liked best about their food is the sauce they use sa dishes, namit gd ya, and ang ila signature iced tea (sulit gd kay namit na siya kag dako ang glass). Ma recommend ko paguid ang Bulalo Steak kag Sugpo sa Alique (Tiger Prawn with coconut crab fat sauce).

oboi November 6th, 2008, 05:31 PM It's a given. Promenade is geared to a high-end market. I ate there too but only once. Although the menu and pricing are basically similar with the one in Katipunan, the most obvious difference I've noticed though is the portions of their servings at Freska - Promenade GH. It's much smaller than those served at Katipunan Branch. Also, I prefer the relaxed ambiance of Katipunan. :)

METROPOLITAN_ILOILO November 6th, 2008, 09:09 PM ^^
I agree... but not really UN UTILIZED.... its the illegal settlers that is UTILIZING those really beautiful coastlines....
If only we have a GREAT POLITICAL WILL! Sayang gid ini... its really a great advantage kag manami sa isa ka city ang may coastlines... WISH KO LANG for the next Admin to do something about this. Its one of those wasted assets... while some cities are wishing for beautiful coastlines... here we are doing nothing and seeing it deteriorate by the day! :bash:
Hopefully the LGU can came with a PROGRAM in this regard: BEAUTIFYING and RESTORING THE CITY COASTLINES.
spacewagon1 November 6th, 2008, 10:44 PM ^^^^ totally agree, Metro. It's a shame that we left it unhabitable. If our city government has a will, they could transform this area into an entertainment park with casinos or hotels. They need to relocate the bloody squatters though. Sayng gid tuod.

Now that is the hardest part... really a big headache kay madamo na sila kag may nagasutsot pa na sa ila kaisa.
We need more of entertainment park/hotels... tourism is growing esp more family oriented complex like foodshops/food & entertainment complexes... I doubt about casinos, I have reservations about this. Im not pro gambling hehehe basta Family Oriented Ok gid.

I agree that we should relocate them but the problem is, what would happen to the welfare of these people whose lives depend on the beach?
However, if we look at it, esp. the back of Punta VIlla, across the river, there are lots of greeneries unused. Hopefully the can utilize this area (w/o destroying the mangroves that is) and still have the capacity to resume on their livelihood. :)
oboi November 7th, 2008, 02:12 PM ^^Back in the 80's, the boulevard (San Juan?) in Villa/Calaparan/Calumpang offers a view of the beach. Houses are still few. Ilonggos don't need to drive out of the city to enjoy the a day by the beach.
It's sad how our local exective then allowed people to wantonly build their houses along the beach. :ohno:
habagatcentral1 November 7th, 2008, 02:36 PM ^^ Well...let mother nature do the cleaning again? Like what she did earlier this year (or was it last year) when the storm surge washed out several houses...
iloilocitykid November 7th, 2008, 02:40 PM The way I see it, the whole country doesn't put limits and proper zoning. Just like Boracay where business where left to thrive too near the beach. If not for such establishments in Villa, it would've fared better.
But honestly, I don't think Villa is the best place to invest if it's about the beach. I mean, people come for the white sand (at least, that's what most people like to see). Maybe a little more room for the beach plus a lot of restos in Villa is the best thing for that place. For beaches, we always have the 30-minute getaway that is Guimaras. :)

aside from demolition, i don't know what else the government can do to move these squatters out of Villa. They are a sore in the eyes of the visitors plus they pollute the beach. Really, they need to be situated properly to other places or relocation sites in Iloilo. I hope some people could inject some sense on them in order for them to relocate. Villa is a nice place if they'll develop it properly and aesthetically. How I wish one big investor will invest in Villa and make a new start. Maybe then, few will follow and transform the area into something turistic and commercially progressive.
habagatcentral1 November 8th, 2008, 02:28 AM ^^ Speaking of relocation sites, there is an ongoing problem regarding it today...Pesina versus Firmeza and the controversy of professional squatters in the relocation areas...anyway, its not a "disease" of Iloilo alone but most of the cities here in the country as well..

I mean, it's okay to have them in the ads, as long as they do their part and not screw the name of their posts as councilors, just so they become stars. C'mon, I don't want to be rude but what have they really done? I could name A LOT of congressmen/women now who're doing nothing but publicity.
We'd really know who gets the publicity by working hard from the ones who work hard to get publicity.

Mojave Grill and Steak House: Steaking their claim
The best steak in town!
Mojave Grill and Steak House.
Mojave Grill and Steak House has opened at The Avenue and promises a great deal of excellent American fare.
The News Today had the first taste of Mojave's tender and tasty steaks, salads, soups, appetizers and desserts. We were joined by owner Johnny Que (who also owns neighboring Bauhinia Filipino Cuisine), Rey Ponsaran, Arvi and Marissa Segovia as we feasted on Mojave's must haves.
The meal started with Cheddar and Vegetable Chowder. This hearty and creamy soup with light veloute cream is perfect during that time when the rain was pouring. We also had Grilled Chicken Soup, served with roasted chicken parcels.
We shared a big serving of Tex-Mex Chicken Quesadillas. Its chunky chicken bits with sweet spicy salsa upped our appetite for the next course, the salads.
The dining area with structural art on the wall.
For the salads, we had Grilled Tuna Salad that contains lettuce, fruits and selected vegetables and Potato and Shrimp Salad that consists of marbled potatoes, select vegetables and grilled shrimps. The salad dressing options are thousand island, spicy garlic mayonnaise and balsamic dressing.
The big part of the luncheon followed .. the steaks.
We had Minute Steak (six pieces of it in one serving) and Fillet Mignon (three pieces). The beef was so tender and came with mushroom bordelaise that's rich in Shiitake mushroom slices. Each morsel was followed by a sip of Mojave's Red Tea.
The steaks are served with your choice of sauce --- brandy peppercorn, mushroom bordelaise and bearnaise as well as your choice of potato dishes --- potato risotto, mashed potato and fried potato wedges.
Potato and Shrimp Salad. The desserts were as fabulous. We had Mojave Overload that comes with a choice of Reese's, Baby Ruth, Crunch, Butterfinger or Caramel. Arvi had Strawberry Shortcake afterwards while the others feasted on Baked Strawberry Cheesecake and the unforgettable taste of Cinnamon Apple American Pie.
The restaurant was named after the Mojave Dessert located in the southeastern part of California. The Mojave Desert contains the Mojave National Preserve, the Death Valley and Zion National Park.
This is the reason why most of the food at Mojave Grill and Steak House are southeastern in nature.
Experience the best of southeastern American fare at Mojave Grill and Steak House.

im not sure about inday inday... heard of it, but i havent tasted it yet. or maybe, i had it before but didnt recognized it. i dont know if you heard about palitaw? i also love the native bibingka being sold by vendors outside the jaro cathedral. during december nights, after going to church, you really can sense the thristmas spirit in the air. going to the jaro cathedral is never complete without us buying those bibingkas. compared to the ferino's bibinka of manila, our bibingka has a distinct homemade taste. ka ilonggo guid ah.
