i was very sceptical when i saw the renders of this tower, but wow, it turned out so good :-o

once complete, this tower can function many lighting system on the tower :D

you should go to Vietnam forum to see updates. But beware though: there are a lot of trolls (mostly from hanoi) who usually show their pathetic jelousity by posting disgusting pics and comments on every saigon's threads.

There's no skyscraper War between SG and HN because it seems HN doesn't let that happen ...for some mysterious reasons SG couldn't have any supertalls being carried out while HN has been building like crazy in that City , this FT is the lucky one that has slipped through the ''invisible control'' from the Central power ... so the conclusion is HN will be the only City with the most supertall towers in VN in a few years to come , HCM city is the official name of SG but in ppl's minds , SAIGON is still the name of that City _Example _ Saigon Bitexco FT not HCM Bitexco FT :lol:

The tower is COMPLETED now! Inauguration ceremony is taking place today, 31st October 2010, five years from its ground-breaking ceremony in May 2005 and only 22 months after the concrete core began to rise at the end of 2008.

The Bitexco Group will organize an inauguration of the Ho Chi Minh City’s highest building – Bitexco Financial Tower today with a screen light show.


Bitexco Financial Tower is 262 meters tall with 68 floors including six floors of commercial area (more than 8,000 square meters) and a grade A office block with an area of 37,000 square meters.

In addition, more than 600 square meters are used for cuisine on the 48th floor and 49th floor restaurant area. The first helicopter pad in Vietnam was built on the 50th floor and an observatory in the 47th floor can see the city landscape.

The observatory will be open for visitors.

Mr. Vu Quang Hoi, chairman of Bitexco Group said the tower opening ceremony would create a strong impression for the public as well as foreign tourists to Vietnam.

The group has spent US$270 million for this project, which is located on Hai Trieu, Ngo Duc Ke and Ho Tung Mau streets in downtown HCMC.

The Bitexco Financial Tower inauguration is designed by Prisme International (France) with the screen light show, which will be held for the first time in Vietnam.

Too late they started. Hanoi old town was almost ravaged with modern townhouses since the 1980s. In Saigon, a large historical block is under demolition to be replaced by the new Vincom center.
