It does look out of place in its neighbourhood, but a really good-looking render.
BTW Emporis has it @ 292m/958ft but only 61 floors (maybe needs updating): Financial Tower (http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=bitexcotower-hochiminhcity-vietnam)

not gonna flame it IS a very nice and unique building...
but the assumption that so many people still call it Saigon is just funny. My best friend is from HCMC and he calls it HCMC no matter what... in fact of all the Vietnamese I know only the ones who are anti-communist are nostalgic enough to call it Saigon :-( (or when it's convenient since afterall Saigon IS much easier to say than Ho Chi Minh City) but not everyone's as anti-communist as you think, and sometimes opinions we get from Vietnamese Americans can be quite biased...
It's just like calling New York as New Amsterdam, or Tokyo as Edo, or Beijing as Beiping...
but I do apologize for saying "Deal with it"... it's too flamey :-p

The Financial Tower is a skyscraper under construction in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Its location is in district 1 of the city. The construction addicated in September 2005 and due to be completed after 30 months. The owner is a Vietnamese company - Bitexco. The tower is located on an area of 6,000 m² with the floor area of over 100,000 m². Total cost reaches more than $120 million. Once completion, this will be the tallest building in Vietnam. The tower consists of 74 stories, 300 m in height, 7 basement of 30 m and a ground floor, all made of steel and glass structure. The tower will be shaped in a lotus petal. Lotus is a symbolic of Vietnamese culture. The Financial Tower will be the symbolic of Saigon's dynamic economy and will be for office and trade leasing.
[edit] Office demand in Ho Chi Minh City
Due to the rapid 2-digit growth of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and dynamic development of Vietnam in general, the construction for office in this city has seen a boom. The financial tower will help ease the fever of demand of office for rent in this city. The unit price of A grade office now in Ho Chi Minh City is around $25 to $30 monthly, depends to the location. Foreign and domestic enterprises have invested significantly in many building construction here.

Well. I have several Vietnamese friends, and not one of them call 'HCMC' Everyone calls it Saigon. I have a friend from somewhere between Nha Trang and Ninh Hoa and even that guy calls it 'Saigon'
I know that it you don't put 'tphcm' on the mail it will not get there, though.
I can still call 'Saigon River' 'Saigon Port' etc!!!
Didn't French occupiers call the city Sai Gon?
Should call it Gia Ðịnh.???? Original Name for the area??
If I ever fly there, I need to fly from LAX TO SGN!!!!
HCM would get me to Eil, Somalia!!!
BTW Beijing = Peking. Guangzhou = Canton (We still call 'Cantonese')
Bombay=Mumbai. Byzantium=Constantinople=Istanbul.
It is good that we don't say 'Leningrad' instead of 'St, Petersburg' anymore.
Wow I see the resemblance to Menara Telekom, except the Financial Tower is curveyer.

His avatar means "Ho Chi Minh looks like a fox".:ohno:
I know what he meant. However, it reminds me of a western fairy tale (the one that has a wolf disguide as grandma of a little girl that has either red head scarf or red neckerchief.) I hope you know the rest of the story. Anyway, in Vietnam there are bunch of posters of Ho Chi Minh suround by little kids with red neckerchiefs. So, do you see the story imply there?

^^ haha isn't that ironic? Saigon generates 30% of GNP for VN but can only retain 26% of that 30%, the rest is donated to hanoi.
Besides budget, the lousy authorities with their incompetency has been holding back this project til now (they initiated back in 2006)
