Freiburg is definitly one of Germany's greatest cities.
The city is wonderful and full of students and the location in the Black Forest close to Basel in Switzerland and Strasbourg in France is wonderful as well.
My cousin lives there and I'm thinking about moving there as well.
Either Freiburg or Hamburg.

Hi! I've been in Freiburg last spring, i took a little tour of the centre and then I spent the afternoon between Vauban and Rietveld (is this spelling right?)... the whole city is wonderful, overall the canals along the streets! But would someone explain me what's this?

All the city was full of this "sign"...

looks like a local petition against something - unterschriftenlisten hier means signature lists here ... there is currently a movement in germany against certain aggressive forms of capitalism - and the locust is the symbol of a greedy capitalist ...

Thanks! In fact it seems that big fat vicious capitalism does not exist in Freiburg. There isn't any big shop of any big chain, 'cause too big shops are forbidden; then the housing is mainly run by two companies that are in contact directly with the private user, avoiding the big purchaser.

The factors that Freiburg is in a sunny warm climate, close to the Black Forest, has fantastic local wine makes it quite unique in Germany. I spent many spring holidays as a kid in Freiburg and I have the fondest memories of this City. We used to stay in the "Hotel Baeren". it's shown one one of the first pictures. Thanks R@ptor for these beautiful pictures

Wonderful pictures. Freiburg is a realy beautiful city and has the warmest climate in whole Germany. If you drive through the suburbs, you see lots of palm trees in the gardens.

Very attractive images of this affable student town (which is also a retiree town). It is noticeable in the city's architecture and feel that France is almost right next door. It also seems to be a haven for outdoorsy types by the people I have met there and judging by the many biking/skiing stores. Another very similar student town is nearby Tübingen.
