View Full Version : Pengui Construction Galore !
Pengui March 4th, 2007, 05:21 PM I'll post pics of various construction sites in this thread.
Please refrain from taking investment here. This thread is about construction and urban development ;-)
Feel free to link the pics in other threads if you will.
Pengui March 4th, 2007, 05:32 PM Natwest Centre
Demolition has started on this building on McCallum Street. It is to be replaced by a 43-stories condominium.

Regency Suites
A 36-stories condo to be erected right in front of Twin Regency.
First few floors now out of the ground:

Bobo Tan Mansion
I was a bit surprised to see this building still standing so I took a number of pics. I'd have liked to take pics of the funny chinese-style roof feature but it was too late to go around to nearby HDB block to get a good point of view. This building is under demolition and will be replaced with a condominium named The Regency @ Tiong Bahru (if I'm correct).

Although it's not a beautiful building, I find it quite original and funky ;-)
The neighborhood may look a bit untidy to posh condo owners...

Singapor3 March 4th, 2007, 05:40 PM Hey pengui, nice thread! And thanks for the construction updates. Maybe other forumers should follow his idea of creating their construction threads, keeps the investors away!
redstone March 7th, 2007, 04:09 AM Sigh... Tiong Bahru's going to be an upmarket area soon... there goes hopes for UNESCO...
Ah NatWest, good to see it go.
Singapor3 March 7th, 2007, 01:54 PM start another thread for pictures, with label updates only
DKSG March 7th, 2007, 01:54 PM Do we put all the pictures in this thread ?
Or do we start another thread for pictures of other developments ?
YFG ... ...
Pengui March 7th, 2007, 05:06 PM Up to you but if everyone starts hijacking my thread, it might become messy ;-)

ayanami March 14th, 2007, 04:55 PM Thanks Pengui, I will sure follow this tread. Photo updates are always great. Makes you feel like being all around Singapore, yet without leaving your seat.
JoSin March 15th, 2007, 05:56 AM I agree...it seems like now the construction thread has been plagued with investors. :( we should separate the investing thingys with construction threads...

SEAfan March 19th, 2007, 08:39 AM Sorry!
Double post out of sheer enthusiasm for the spirit of Pengui! :okay:
Pengui March 19th, 2007, 01:13 PM Otherwise I'm not able to find my own posts in other threads ;-) But thanks ;-)
Pengui March 25th, 2007, 06:04 AM I am not sure if this has been mentioned in another thread...
Old and rundown, but nonetheless interesting Hilltop Apartments is going to be redeveloped into something new (by SC Global). I don't know what's the name of the new project...
http://ssc.singapenguin.net/07/070324_hilltop_apartments02.jpg
There was also another project going to launch on Cairnhill Road where I took the photo. It's by WingTai and possibly replacing Phoenix Court. They call it "Ultra-luxurious" (sic).
This is the Iridium on Lincoln Road, now at pilling stage.

This is another "prime" plot of land on Lincoln Road. It apparently belongs to Far East and has been developed into a heaven for construction workers ^ ^

Singapor3 March 25th, 2007, 07:21 AM Whoa, a sneak peak of the facade of Park Infinia.. But I don't see any circular facade on the rendering, or is that the back?
Pengui March 25th, 2007, 05:22 PM Yes that's on the back, not on the side seen on the rendering on the same pic ;-) This pic is taken from Kampong Java Road.

Whoa, nice update, that's alot of cranes! But I think around 2008,it's going to be a better skyline, even more cranes!
redstone April 22nd, 2007, 05:58 PM The jellyfish shelter thingies are making the quay look so crammed!!!
kurakura April 22nd, 2007, 06:43 PM hope Singapore's skyline will not become like Hong Kong's (residential I mean).
Just massive blocks of the same thing.:ohno:
Pengui April 29th, 2007, 09:02 AM All taken on 28th April:
The Centris at Boon Lay. Huge excavation, reminds me of Ang Mo Kio Hub construction. It seems they just completed pouring the foundation raft.

kurakura April 29th, 2007, 02:44 PM Wah. Its a big site at Centris@boon Lay.
Pengui May 7th, 2007, 02:42 PM Taken 6th May.
http://ssc.singapenguin.net/07/070506_the_seaview_the_esta01.jpg
The Seaview now in the final stages. Good looking one! On the right, The Esta is rising fast. I wonder if they are reusing previous apartment blocks foundation. It is progressing so fast while One Amber which started roughly at the same time is still at foundation stage.
I think it might be the case because The Esta blocks are about the same bulk, height and location than previous development's blocks.

kurakura January 27th, 2008, 07:00 PM en bloc victim...
Pengui January 28th, 2008, 04:35 PM Speaking about en-bloc... I propose we rename Angullia Park in "Enblockia Park". I think that would be more fitting, since basically the entire street is being redeveloped.
From Orchard Boulevard:
1) The Parisian
http://ssc.singapenguin.net/08/080127_the_parisian01.jpg
Vacated and just closed, waiting for handover to demolition company
2) Cuscaden Royale
http://ssc.singapenguin.net/08/080127_cuscaden_royale02.jpg
Under construction (redevelopment of former Angullia Heights)
3) Skyline Angullia
http://ssc.singapenguin.net/08/080127_skyline_angullia_demolition01.jpg
Demolition started
4) Angullia Mansion
(no picture) demolition finished, new project from Far East due to start there (quite large plot).
5) Orchard View
http://ssc.singapenguin.net/08/080127_orchard_view01.jpg
Under construction (redevelopment of Angullia View)
And that's it! End of the road!
Maybe it's a sign that Angullia Park is ending on Jalan Tupai!
http://ssc.singapenguin.net/08/080127_jalan_tupai01.jpg
Indeed, Singapore is doing its own Dubai, although with a strange accent :-)
kurakura January 28th, 2008, 11:57 PM Tupai is actually squirrel in malay
Arnap is actually spelled as Arnab (almost the same pronouciation)- if they meant Rabbit to be consistent with Tupai
Pengui January 29th, 2008, 04:30 PM I'm reposting some pics I took of the Sail progress on 25th January, since there's already like 3 new pages of $$$-chat in the building's topic:

The Big Mess @ Marina Bay
http://ssc.singapenguin.net/09/20090314_bfc_03.jpg
Centre is Business Financial Centre, with 3 towers going up.
Behind the barracks on the left, in front of the Sail will be Marina Suites (prep works currently).
In the background is Marina Bay Sands.
Foreground, I'm not sure what's going on except the site is being used as a pathway (and storage, possibly, for Marina View. Marina View's site can be glimpsed on the bottom right, pilling is well underway.
I also don't know if anything is planned for the site behind with the weight testing blocks stacked on it.
The concrete truck on the bottom left is for One Shenton. Here's a pic of One Shenton:

Also, there are some new towers that seem to be part of Singapore General Hospital, never noticed them before.
JoSin March 15th, 2009, 09:59 AM A very comprehensive update on the developments in the city. Thanks pengui!

I looked a bit and I don't think the building has a thread so I only posted them here.
Sometimes, important buildings don't have a thread here especially if they are in slightly remote areas like Tampines. I won't open one for my pics because it's unlikely I'll be able to update again regularly after that. I believe quite some regulars here follow this "unwritten rule" ;-)
