View Full Version : Buccaneers Thread FLAWDA-FELLA December 14th, 2010, 03:53 AM ^^ Or the Redskin's Nick Sundberg(center), who snapped the ball too high!! Jasonhouse December 15th, 2010, 07:36 AM Instead, they cut the punter??? Shanahan is REALLY reminding of Ray Perkins these days; A hard headed, out of touch prick who has lost his edge. FLAWDA-FELLA December 20th, 2010, 05:06 PM Bucs lose crucial game against the pathetic Lions 23-20!! Although they are still in the playoff hunt, a win yesterday would have made their chances a little bit easier. :bash: FLAWDA-FELLA December 27th, 2010, 02:39 PM Despite yesterdays crushing defeat over the Seahawks 38-15, the Bucs have not yet secured a playoff spot and are still in the hunt. Jasonhouse December 28th, 2010, 01:07 AM It's crazy that the Bucs are 9-6 on the year... Even crazier that they should literally be 10-5 right now (and even the NFL admitted as much), and could have been as good as 12-3, if just a couple of plays are executed correctly. FLAWDA-FELLA December 28th, 2010, 02:52 PM ^^ Yep, they could have easily been in 1st place in the NFC South!! :bash: FloridaFuture January 3rd, 2011, 03:12 AM Bucs got a good win today, but missed the playoffs. FLAWDA-FELLA January 3rd, 2011, 03:21 AM Awww man that sucks, but I guess finishing the season at 10-6 compared to last year is rather impressive for the Bucs. :applause: TampaMike January 3rd, 2011, 03:22 AM They played great today, espicially against a team that is in the Playoffs. I said on SPT how the NFL should be fined for bad calls, just like how our players and teams are fined. $50,000 for a bad call and $100,000 for a bad call that costs us the game. Obviously, we would be in the Playoffs is it wasn't for that call in Detroit, so lets fine the NFL $1 million for that one, lol But this season has been great and next season will be better. Build up our rookies, make our defense and offense stronger, and fix what we lacked this season. Even though many of our wins were against mediocre teams, we've made some impressive plays against Playoff teams this year. Next season looks like a great season for us. Tampa on the move. January 5th, 2011, 09:03 AM Tampa Bay is the youngest team in the league and has 7 injured players and still had a 10-6 record, and as many have mentioned got robbed in the Detriot game.. Tampa is going to be a dynasty in the making.. With Freeman LEADING THE WAY I could see at least 2 Lombardi's in the next 5-6 years.. Great season this was the most exciting Bucs team since we won it all in 2002-2003.. Jasonhouse January 7th, 2011, 06:44 PM Hopefully Freeman doesn't turn out to be the next Daunte Culpepper. Pretty sure he's going to be more like the next Roethlisberger though. FLAWDA-FELLA May 1st, 2011, 12:35 AM Any thoughts on the Bucs 1st round draft pick DE Adrian Clayborn from Iowa?? Personally, I have never heard of this guy before so I don't know how he will contribute to the team. :dunno: Jasonhouse May 1st, 2011, 01:45 AM I'm highly intrigued by their draft. The Bucs may well have scored 4 players that eventually start at some point next season, and a key backup. I was surprised that they didn't go CB in the 2nd or 3rd round, but it's hard to argue the point given the two players they were able to score with those picks. HARTride 2012 May 27th, 2011, 02:08 AM Lets hope this lockout is resolved soon.... http://www.baynews9.com/article/sports/2011/may/252140/NFL-lockout-extends-beyond-players,-as-Buccaneers-may-have-to-close-their-offices Tampa on the move. August 10th, 2011, 01:07 AM First game National Fox game 8oopm Friday night.. I expect big things from the Bucs this year.. Can't believe it's football season.. Makes you forget about the countries problems.. just a bit.. Jasonhouse August 10th, 2011, 05:58 AM I expect 8-8. 10-6 again would be swell. TampaMike August 12th, 2011, 06:07 AM Question Guys. Should I make a 2011 Buc Season thread like we do for all the other sports or just keep this as it is? FLAWDA-FELLA August 12th, 2011, 08:00 PM I'd say leave it as is, so you wouldn't have to create a new Bucs thread every season. :okay: Jasonhouse August 15th, 2011, 06:44 PM I'm going to the One Buc Place today even though practice is closed to the public. My gf got some kid of pass from someone she knows who works for the TSA. No idea what's going on, but if I get any good pics, I'll post them. WolfHound August 17th, 2011, 07:09 AM When will the buccaners official message board be back up? HARTride 2012 September 5th, 2011, 12:53 AM I am surprised this has not been talked about here. But for those of you who do not know, former Buc Lee Roy Selmon suffered a stroke on Friday and has been in the hospital since. All of the news outlets are now reporting that he has passed away. May he rest in peace. :( http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bucs/content/lee-roy-selmon-dies-two-days-after-suffering-stroke SEPTEMBER 04, 2011 Lee Roy Selmon dies two days after suffering stroke Lee Roy Selmon, the Hall of Fame defensive end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, died Sunday, two days after suffering a stroke. Mr. Selmon was 56. Selmon was admitted to St. Joseph's Hospital Friday afternoon after suffering a stroke at his Tampa home. His brother, Dewey, said Saturday he had been responsive to some family members and showed some signs of improvement. But Selmon's former teammates were being notified of his death Sunday. Former Bucs quarterback Doug Williams, the Grambling State University head football coach, said he had spoken to David Lewis, his teammate in Tampa Bay and the Tampa Catholic High School assistant football coach. A few minutes later, another teammate, tight end Jimmie Giles, informed Williams that Selmon had died. "I was sitting in my office when David told me he was on his way to the hospital,'' Williams said. "About a half hour or so later, Jimmie (Giles) called me and said that David (Lewis) told him Lee Roy had passed. “I don’t know, one of those things where you don’t have a whole lot to say. Being around the same age, you got to look at yourself a little bit. But I'm thinking about his family and praying for them, that’s the biggest thing.'' "You know, we’re sitting here talking about Lee Roy. It goes to show you, we don’t control it. We do know the date or hour. Knowing somebody for awhile and knowing the kind of person they are, these are things you don’t expect.'' spellbound September 5th, 2011, 04:54 AM Lifelong Dolphins fan but I know how much Selmon meant to the Tampa area both as a tremendous player and positive force in the community for many, many years. So sorry to see this. RIP to a helluva man. FLAWDA-FELLA September 14th, 2011, 01:58 PM I find it to be pretty sad that the Bucs season home opener only had about 55k in attendance and was blacked out as usual. I sure hope this won't be the trend this NFL season, especially since they finished with a 10-6 record last season. :ohno: Jasonhouse September 15th, 2011, 03:36 PM ^They won't sell out a single game all year, unless they get to Decemeber and they're like 9-3 and gunning for home field in the playoffs or something. DShenise September 16th, 2011, 07:35 PM Tampa is a boom and bust town, right now its in the bust cycle. There isn't a lot of money floating around during good times, so its a tough sell. FLAWDA-FELLA September 19th, 2011, 05:42 PM Great come from behind victory for the Bucs yesterday in Minnesota 24-20. FLAWDA-FELLA October 4th, 2011, 04:11 PM Sure glad the Bucs won last night, especially since it was a nationally televised Monday night game against the winless Colts(0-4). That would have been a little embarassing had they lost!! FLAWDA-FELLA October 17th, 2011, 01:45 AM The Bucs are now in 1st place in the NFC South with hard earned victory today over the Saints 26-20. :cheers1: HARTride 2012 December 5th, 2011, 02:47 AM This was on the front page of Yahoo. Very embarrassing for the Bucs. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Raheem-Morris-sent-player-home-after-unsportsman?urn=nfl-wp13129 Bucs DT Brian Price(notes) was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct in Tampa Bay's loss to the Carolina Panthers. Tampa Bay coach Raheem Morris was so disgusted with the penalty that he didn't just pull Price from the game. He sent him home. The Bucs are now in 1st place in the NFC South with hard earned victory today over the Saints 26-20. :cheers1: Now, they're at the bottom. :/ FLAWDA-FELLA December 5th, 2011, 02:31 PM ^^ :wtf: HARTride 2012 December 5th, 2011, 02:36 PM ^^ 6 game losing streak. I was like...WTF also. And there are plenty of rumors that this may be coach Morris's last season. Depending on how the team performs the rest of the season and what the Glazers decide to do. Jasonhouse December 5th, 2011, 09:22 PM ^My guess is that the Glazers figured that Morris was the cheapest coach they could find to coach what is by far the cheapest roster in the league. Well, you get what you pay for. Sure, the Bucs are an embarrassment, but at least the Glazers aren't defaulting on ManU's debt! ;) On the bright side, the Bucs are currently projected to pick like 6th in the draft. lol ;) John F December 7th, 2011, 05:00 PM When Gruden was on the hot seat, at the end of his reign, the local media jumped up and down for Morris before Gruden promoted him to DC (which came before Grudens firing). They did the same for Dominik. The Good Ol' Boy network was in motion to enable what the Glazers wanted... Or at least put a shine on it. I find it fitting that people are happy as a clam the Bucs have been doing their Bucco Bruce throwback games, and the team has played as horribly as they had while wearing the Orange uniforms. Complete nostalgia. TampaMike December 8th, 2011, 04:34 AM I think Morris needs to go. And really, a lot on the team needs to go. But yes, the Glazers are cheap when it comes to properly filling in all areas of the Bucs. Gruden was good and I think much of the area put too much blame on Gruden than he actually deserved. It was the players that really need change and that automatically comes down to the Glazers. The Community Investment Tax that funds Raymond James Stadium as well as other stuff ends in a couple years and I wonder what will happen then. There is a major push against taxpayer's money funding sports stadiums of any kind and for any purpose and we see that for the Rays and a new home for them. Will that carry over a couple years from now? If voters didn't want to fund better transportation and more funds for roads, why would they vote for an extension of a tax that funds RJS and I believe St. Pe.... Tampa Bay Times Forum? John F December 10th, 2011, 05:36 PM I think Morris needs to go. Totally, TOTALLY disagree. Jon Gruden was given everything, everything, he wanted. He won a Super Bowl with a defense Rich McKay and Tony Dungy formed (yes, Gruden tweaked the offense to solidify things)... He then got to oust McKay because McKay wasn't careless with signings (they clashed, and the Glazers backed the popular figure over the level headed executive). He got a handpicked replacement GM in Bruce Allen, and the carousel of careless, brazen, and stupid moves that followed helped pull down the Bucs. Absolute power did not bring results. It brought mediocrity. IT brought excuses. Tony Dungy got handed a raw deal. His offenses sucked, no doubt about it... But to get fired because he's a playoff coach? "Tony Dungy will never win the big game" was what some people said before and after he was dismissed in Tampa. The Colts would like to disagree with that, and have a ring to back up their claim. koopalicious December 10th, 2011, 11:15 PM He got a handpicked replacement GM in Bruce Allen, and the carousel of careless, brazen, and stupid moves that followed helped pull down the Bucs. The Bucs had a winning record in Gruden's last two seasons. How exactly is that bringing the team down? Going into 2009, the Bucs were going to have a lot of cap space, and the Glazer's knew that Allen and Gruden were going to take advantage of that. So instead, they axed them and hired two guys that would work for cheap and not put up a fuss about the lack of a payroll. As a result, we are now left with a crummy group of players on and off the field. FLAWDA-FELLA December 11th, 2011, 01:38 PM Going to see the Bucs play here in Jax today. I don't know, but for some strange reason there seems to be a decent following of Bucs fans in N.E. Fla. :? John F December 11th, 2011, 10:44 PM The Bucs had a winning record in Gruden's last two seasons. How exactly is that bringing the team down? How many playoff appearences after the Bucs won the Super Bowl? How many wins? How consistent was Gruden -- his entire career as head coach with the Bucs? How many Quarterbacks did he bring in and run out of town? Who was cut in favor of a flavor-of-the-month free agent? Going into 2009, the Bucs were going to have a lot of cap space, and the Glazer's knew that Allen and Gruden were going to take advantage of that. So instead, they axed them and hired two guys that would work for cheap and not put up a fuss about the lack of a payroll. As a result, we are now left with a crummy group of players on and off the field. Nice conspiracy theory. If the Bucs were on a course for a grand turnaround under Gruden/Allen (two just-over .500 seasons in a row aren't something to crow about), you'd expect both the coach and GM to go elsewhere after their dismissal and be successful. Jon is no longer coaching, and Bruce Allen is with the Redskins (another grand mess - but it was like that long before Allen came to town). I'm not saying the Glazers aren't cheap, I'm not saying that ManU isn't their priority. I AM saying you're giving Gruden and Allen much more credit than they are due. 9-7 seasons in a row be damned, from 2003-2009 the team was an inconsistent mess. 45-51? That's mediocrity. 57-55 if you include the Super Bowl season. Does that make Gruden and Allen so great that they were infallible? TampaMike December 12th, 2011, 02:47 AM Looking at the seasons, the losing seasons weren't that bad if you look at them closely. 2003 started off with many of the team's top performers, including Alstott, were sidelined before opening day and they still ended the season with 7-9. 2004 Season was a pretty bad year, but only 1 losing game was lost by more than 7 points. 2005 season, they made it to the Playoffs. 2006 was just an ugly year, with many injuries occurring after a 0-3 start. 2007 Season they made it to the Playoffs with a 9-7. 2008 Season they were 9-7 just as the previous season..... but the Falcons and Panthers played better that season. It needs to be asked, how much influence did the team being relocated into the NFC South have on (or for) the Bucs? FLAWDA-FELLA December 12th, 2011, 02:55 AM Jags crushed the Bucs 41-14 after numerous penalty calls and poor performance from both the offense/defense. I only went to today's game b/c the 2 teams very seldom play each other in the regular season and to spend some quality time with my son. FLAWDA-FELLA December 24th, 2011, 10:43 PM I know the Bucs suck a-- now, but damn, 9 straight losses!! :bleep: Dale December 24th, 2011, 10:50 PM First, the Glazers should fire Morris. Second, the Glazers should fire themelves. TampaMike December 24th, 2011, 11:08 PM Glazers need to sell the team to someone that won't find the lowest hanging fruit on the tree and actually spend a little more on the coaching or on the players. Right now, I don't see a Mike Alstott or anyone that can be built up as a franchise player on the team at the moment. Freeman was the closest and he has proved to us that we looked too much into last season with him. Jasonhouse December 26th, 2011, 06:47 AM I won't be spending another cent on the Bucs until the Glazers are out of the picture. HARTride 2012 January 2nd, 2012, 06:46 PM http://www.baynews9.com/article/news/2012/january/364825/Bucs-Morris-out-as-head-coach The Tampa Bay Buccaneers relieved Head Coach Raheem Morris Monday after three seasons. "We want to thank Coach Morris for all his hard work and dedication as head coach of the Buccaneers," said Buccaneers Co-Chairman Joel Glazer. "I have a lot of respect and appreciation for the passion Coach Morris gave to our football team, but this change is one we felt was necessary," Buccaneers General Manager Mark Dominik said. The team has scheduled a 3:00 p.m. news conference. NOW FOR THE NEXT MOVE........SELL THE TEAM! FLAWDA-FELLA January 3rd, 2012, 06:45 PM ^^ I had a feeling it would be swift action taken but not that sudden. Jasonhouse January 6th, 2012, 01:19 PM 10 straight losses tends to produce a sense of urgency. HARTride 2012 January 12th, 2012, 05:46 PM Morris is now a defensive backs coach for the Washington Redskins. http://www.baynews9.com/article/sports/2012/january/368669/Redskins-hire-former-Bucs-head-coach-Raheem-Morris-to-coach-secondary Jasonhouse January 12th, 2012, 06:38 PM I'm sure that excites the Glazers... Anything Rah makes from the 'Skins, the Glazers get to deduct from the $1.9M they owe him this year. I really don't understand what the Glazers think fans have to be interested in here. The Glazers are NOT doing their part to ensure the Bucs are a quality franchise. Now, I don't have a problem with the Glazers draining all available funds from one of their businesses to prop up their crushing debt on another one. But I do have a problem when the business they're looting receives an 8-figure annual subsidy from taxpayers, and taxpayers apparently have no legal recourse to even stop this scam, let alone make the Glazers pay back what was essentially stolen. (they promised profits would go to producing a consistent winner. They lied. The contract with taxpayers should be null and void) TPAMAN January 26th, 2012, 09:53 PM They hired Rutgers coach FLAWDA-FELLA January 27th, 2012, 12:05 AM ^^ I honestly thought an NFL coach or assistant would have gotten the job. Apparently this guy has completely turned the Rutgers program around during his tenure there. HARTride 2012 January 27th, 2012, 12:50 AM http://www.baynews9.com/article/sports/2012/january/374612/Bucs-hire-Rutgers-Greg-Schiano-as-new-head-coach He served most recently as the head coach of Rutgers (2000-11), where he coached the Scarlet Knights to six bowl game appearances and a 56-33 record over the past seven seasons. He is probably one of the key reasons Rutger's football team has done so well. For darn sure, they have beaten USF during several seasons. FLAWDA-FELLA March 14th, 2012, 05:02 PM According to a source, the wide receiver agreed to a five-year deal worth $55,555,555 with $26 million guaranteed!!! http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Tampa-Bay-Buccaneers-Vincent-Jackson-agree-to-deal-report-031312?ocid=ansfox11 Jasonhouse March 14th, 2012, 10:21 PM Looks like the Glazers finally woke up and realized that if they acted like the late Hugh Culverhouse for even another season, they were gong to be DOA as team owners in this market. But hey, they got away with the scam for 7 years before locals finally got sick and tired of the bullshit. FLAWDA-FELLA April 30th, 2012, 09:28 PM Any thoughts on The Bucs 1st round draft pick, safety Mark Barron from Alabama? He looked rather impressive in the highlight films that I saw and Coach Gruden seems think it was a decent pick. :dunno: Tampa on the move. May 1st, 2012, 09:23 AM Glazers spent the money on Vincent Jackson-Carl Nicks guard and CB Eric Wright. Many nfl analyst have given the Bucs an A+ . Barron safety starter..alabama championship team. Moved up in the first round got the quick RB Martin he and Blount are going to be a great tandem. Moved up in the 3rd round and got the OLB they desperatley needed David from Nebraska some compare him to a Derrick Brooks type Tampa2 player. We also got another OLB name? in the 5th round! Dunsmore 7th round he might play FB or TE to push Stocker. and finally got another CB Tandy to push that position dramatically.. I'm pumped for this year. Season tickets are on the rise.. Go Bucs.. FLAWDA-FELLA May 1st, 2012, 12:50 PM ^^ Jasonhouse May 1st, 2012, 04:01 PM Bucs are widely considered to have had the best offseason in the NFL, hands down. |
