2010 i think

I find it strange that this building didn't get more attention. It's a great design and more importantly it shows the dedication of a major korean developer into Dubai. It is projects like these - where international investors build towers and marketing to their local market - which will solidify Dubais position and create the increased demand that is needed for the boom to continue into the skies without a crash.

Great complex, I really like the mid-rise building, very unique. The higher building compliments the lower building very well.

I went to the Bando office today in Seoul, had a nice meeting with Mr Hee-Soo Kim, General Manager, Overseas Business Dept.

After I saw a construction site of the Dangsandong Ubora Palace at the Yeongdeungpo area.Sales center is amazing ,there is many show apartments , really luxury , I have never seen that quality before.Prices from 900.000 USD (apr.100sqm)

Ubora Towers begins to catch someone's eye, although the building is only about a third of the final height yet. Let's hope the speed of app. 3 floors a month can be kept when the tower is getting wider to the top!

I find this design even more special than the Infinity Tower. I wonder how they can prevent it from not collapsing as it get's bigger higher up.

Good progress around in Business Bay... e.g. Emirates Park Towers rising again, and crown of Churchill Residency finished.

And Ubora Towers? I count at least 41 floors, so it could be around 175m now IMO.

Some infos and details from the developer:

"U-Bora Towers is a 2 Million Sqft mixed use development Business Bay. It started in August 2006 and is anticipated completion is to finish end of this year. It is developed and built by Bando Construction and Engineering of South Korea. It was designed by Aedas, the same designer as the famous mono-rail stations in Dubai.

The residential build has only 4 floors remaining to complete. Today we installed a bridge as the lower part of the building has no floors below it. The cladding of the residential tower will start in 2 months, the commercial tower has already 50% cladding

Today we installed the bridge between core 1 and 2 of the residential building. On floor 14, the two sides of the building meet. To do this a steel frame was constructed on-site, and then lifted into position using

We used Techno Steel as Steel Works Sub-contractor who manufactured the steel truss, VSL was used to jack the frame into position.

Why so pessimistic? As for the facades towards the smaller tower: before March 18th, cladding had stopped right below that oversized floor for weeks, but now there are at least 3 more, with different glass pattern... compared with Vision Tower and others in Business Bay, that's okay for me.

And meanwhile, the concrete skeleton has risen in good speed: +5 floorplates = about one per week. :)

I count 48 core-floors above parking levels. On the floorplan in posting #1 (http://img100.imageshack.us/my.php?image=4gf30c2ew2.jpg), there are 54, including mechanical floors... so 6 more to go?

Btw. on that plan, the first mech floor is no. 20, but in reality they seemed to put it at no. 27.

- what a night view! :eek:
- seen by day, the tower looks a bit cropped on top right now. I'd prefer to go on a few floors and bring the curved lines towards a more pointed top.

This tower is a gem among a sea of cheap cladded spire infested towers, it would be real nice in any city not just dubai. They need to take this tower as an example less is more sometimes and they actually need some plain boxes to even out the skyline. You look at the background and theres squiggly towers, polka dotted towers, checkered ones, some lean this way, some that way, pink, purple, green, orange, yellow, gold, any color u can imagine im surprised there isnt a building on stilts built over another building. Ubora is very very nice though and theres definately some of the best designs in the world here their just mixed in the sea of trash though.

Unlike a lot of designs in Dubai, this is truly quality architecture.

This tower is a true beauty and a great addition for Dubai's skyline! :D

If you look at the UAE section, many forum members have visited the site, construction updates where regularly featured on SSC.

I was heavily involved with the design and planning with Bando (Developer) and Aedas (Architect), hence all the access.

Also the almost finished atrium is worth seeing:
the slant of the facade is kept by the major columns in the inside, creating exceptional perspectives.

Some more interior photos, this time from 14th, 24th and 42th floor. These open plan offices/rooms look fine and show the unique shape of the building from inside, too. Of course some partitions may reduce this effect a bit in the end.

It's nothing to do with Dubai.. U-Bora is developed by Bando, a developer from South Korea.

I personally worked on this project with Andrew from Aedas, this was the first mixed use development for them.

Yea looks completed to me aswell.

Great tower, actually I imo it's the best tower(s) in Dubai and far beyond.

For Dubai standards not a spectacular outstanding height, but still it's great.

If something like this would be build anywhere in Europe it would be a big landmark, because it's in Dubai most people haven't even ever heard about it.
